Ang x x Just found out I'm a grandmother today also, 7lb 2oz girl called Nia, it beats getting a card ;goodvevil; Title: Re: Happy Mothers Day Post by: Dewi_cool on March 26, 2006, 10:37:39 AM I took my wife a cup of coffee in bed today, technically she is not my mother but I took it just the same, my real mother lives 10 miles away and as such was a tad to far away to take a cup of coffee (would have been cold) and she does not like coffee anyway. so would have been a waste of time.
So Happy Mothers day to all Mothers out there Title: Re: Happy Mothers Day Post by: Trace on March 26, 2006, 10:46:32 AM Well up to now I've fallen out with my Dad, done a favour for my Brother and allowed my eldest to sleep.
My youngest has made me a lovely card at school, and now I'm back in bed. Happy Mothers Day. During her pregnancy she went out to work every day. She would walk from the caravans to the bus stop and take a bus to the nearest town or village, and then spend the day walking from door to door with a basket on her arm, selling lucky charms, pegs or lace, and occasionally telling fortunes. Sometimes she would be given tins of food or some old clothing instead of money, although useful and valuable to us, these had to be carried all day as well. When she got home she would do the cleaning, washing and cooking (All by hand, without electricity or running water) the next day, she would start the whole process over again, although my dad worked every day too, there was never a penny to spare for anything that wasn’t necessary A few days after I was born she went back work, she was still carrying me, but this time I was in a sling, tied around her neck For the next nine or ten years, I went to work with my mam every day, when I got too big to carry, she begged a pram and pushed me around in that until I could walk, by which time, another baby had arrived to fill the pram. Eventually things did get easier, my mam learned to drive and my dad bought her a pick-up so that she, my brother Tracy and I could go out collecting scrap iron or sharpening knives and scissors, she thought she was the luckiest girl in the world, but she was still working harder than anyone I have ever known. I learned a lot in those early years, I met hundreds of new people every week and I learned there are good and bad in all walks of life, I learned about the ways of the world, about hard work and about the value of money. Most of all, I learned about the incredible strength of my mothers love I love you mam, thank you.
