blonde poker forum

Great new site revamp guys, but find it hard to read forum in this black/grey lay out.
Can I change its colour?

my earilier post on the stickied thread. monkey eyes struggling :(

Actually thinking about it, you guys do have a point.

I'm managing fine on my main PC, but I just realised as soon as I get on
my laptop I won't be able to read this too well.

I want my Cerberus back.....

Also, I liked the icons that dimmed or light up when there was new posts in the forums (on the main forum catagory page) I like the Blonde logo there, but perhaps a darker version for no new posts would be nice?


edit: It does it for the sub boards (Betting) but not on the main boards page.

I do find the new colours of the forum make it more taxing on the old eyes, I may need a trip to specsavers but I did not have this problem 4 hours ago, I am not moaning, Just giving feedback.

Surely keep yellow writing for the main text body too?

my initial thought was dark and gloomy but after only 30 secs I think I like the look BUT can we have yellow as the default text colour. black on grey is pretty hard on the eye

I agree that the colour scheme makes this too difficult to read - back to the drawing board please.

the site went down for an hour earlier this morning so i logged out til i got into work, i've just logged back in again and have to say that the threads are a bit easier to read now - would still prefer the grey to be a bit lighter but its a bit more easier on the eye than it was first thing this morning.

maybe waking up and focusing a bit harder improved things!! ;)

I actually find it easier to read the text now than on the old forum, but I've always had a bit of a problem with text/background colours. Adam's suggestion of a yellow default colour would be a big NO NO for me, as tbh I find that near impossible to read!


AND.... OMG!!! my purple is near invisible!  :o This pink just isn't the same. weeeeeeeeeeeeep    :( 

MY EYES!!!

Black writing on a dark grey background just doesn't work (especially when the titles and headings are in bright yellow) - my eyes are naturally drawn away from the text I'm looking at to the yellow text so I have to constantly refocus  (this is what causes the eyestrain). I have very good eyesight yet it's even giving me a headache.

Can't wait until the choice of skins is back.

I logged in first thing this morning and I couldn't look at the threads for longer than 30 secs. I agree if the grey was lighter it would make it easier to read.

Having a bit more of a look, I think the problem is more to do with the yellow text for the headings and links - this is too bright and, as I said, draws my eyes away from what I'm reading.

If these were black, then I think this would help things a lot.

whilst pink wouldn't be my colour of choice, it is easy to read :)

gods no, it's the dark on dark that's the problem. the text should be in contrast to the background

Background should ALWAYS be light and text DARK in order to avoid eyestrain and provide a universal environment that is easy to read.

I don’t really mind the new colours, I just don’t like the poker site banner opening up on every post, I think it’s a bit IN YOUR FACE. It also takes away your screen width

Do you not think there was a reason most of us stuck with the default scheme?
This is horrid, we'll all go blind straining to read it.
Please give an option to change back.

this is just plain bad. It hurts my eyes. Can we change the colour in our profile?
Also I used to read this at work. The old colour scheme was inconspicuous and blended into my desktop. This colour scheme stands out a mile!!!! I wont be able to stay on here as long now.
PLEASE CHANGE THE COLOUR!
Also the banner squeezes my screen, I only open it up for about 1/4 screen size at work and the banner is taking up too much room AND lets everyone know im on a poker forum!!!!

I can see why the colour scheme is yellow and black (ties in with the Blonde thing) but from a design point of view it doesn't really work on the forum.

I'm no expert, but I don't know why we've lost the choice of layout schemes - surely this new one could have just been added as another option and those of us who wanted to use it, could.

The white boxes that opened up when I went in to post a message nearly blinded me!

Nice idea to change the colours but I'm afraid it doesn't work in practice.

Well done at the brave move to modernise the forum. However when I woke up and logged on slightly drowsy, I thought I was on The Hendon Mob forum, until I realised that it was harder to read for some reason? Switching between the two now and THM has a much lighter grey background. When THMs new forum was launched, there was much the same debate on there, but you do get used to it. It coincides with theblondepoker site very well, but IMO people are making a very valid point, I would prefer the background darker with light writing or keep it as it is with a lighter grey background. The eye strain comes from the lack of distinction between foreground and background. My eyes are shot anyway so what would I know :D The site itself is ggggrrrrrrrreat!!!!!!

That's the thing though - the forum itself hasn't been modernised. As far as I can see, the functionality is exactly the same as before - it's just the colour scheme that's been changed.

We previously had a range of different styles to choose from that the forum could be displayed in - we've woken up this morning and had a garish scheme forced upon us.

I've had a poke around the main site and it looks good - the design works well there because, for the most part, the yellow/black design is only around the edge. On the forum it doesn't - Bream, Sparks, see if you can reenable the layout choices we had before.

i was just about to say, am i the only one that finds it great, no problem reading any posts at all.

Bream has given us another option - try Blonde2 in your layout preferences - it removes the yellow text and makes all the writing black on a light background - it won't give you a headache.

EDIT: - er, yeah, what Bream said.

I don't like the new colours for the forum, I find the yellow headlines difficult to read, and my old mincers struggle to cope with the lack of contrast between the black texton a gray background

I think the main page is spot on, I would much prefer it if the forum used the same format

Either that, or give us the option (Individually) to change it back  

The Blonde2 option is an improvement and should be set as the default.

Red i think this is because some posters have manually changed there font colours to compensate for the dark backgrounds on 'Blonde1'

It's still too dark at the top (under "user info") but much better than at first.
Why not trial this before implementing it?
The banner at the side is annoying too, can it not be moved to the top or bottom (or both?), surely that won't affect the sponsor income?

Red, they alternate light/dark/light/dark - like a zebra crossing.

Didn't Bream or sparks say they can't maintain a lot of schemes?

I much prefer blonde2 and have switched my computer at work accordingly (will do my laptop at home after work). All the posts are much easier to read, still doesnt match any of my desktop settings so will have to be careful about using it too much in work - but maybe thats a good thing!! ;)

The other option is far better on the eyes, I was getting a headache and thats the Mrs's department.

Just switch to the SMF default theme, and you get the old blonde forum back.....

Now just to stop you all writing in yellow...
