In my "working" days I ran a business which did shopfitting amongst other things, & a major Client of mine was Aldi Foodstores, the big rival of Lidl. At one time they were selling Baked Beans at 7p a tin! They were delivered to the stores on pallets containing 1,400 tins - the entire pallet-load was worth about £100 at resale prices! And they did washing-up liquid at 6p a bottle! This was so cheap that bricklayers, plasterers & concreters were coming into the stores & buying entire boxes of the stuff to use as plasticiser when they were "knocking up", it was cheaper than proprietary plasticisers such as FEBMIX! It was fairly weak stuff, as Washing-Up Liquid went, but I gather you could add water to it to thicken it up...... Happy days.
