HU on first table tough decision Post by: jezza777 on March 27, 2006, 11:41:51 PM not an easy decision however if you are confident at outplaying this guy and it sounds like you are then the way to do it is to chop away and keep pots small. With this in mind I think a fold is the correct play here.
Title: Re: $160 DS to WSOP package .. HU on first table tough decision Post by: Bobwah on March 27, 2006, 11:59:30 PM I think he could have made this move with any heart, knowing that if you didn't have the J you'd have a hard time calling. He's made great use of his position but I stand by my first sentence:
There are 8 possible hearts he could have and only one of them beats you, I think you're winning in this spot 7 out of eight times, factoring in the chance of a stone cold bluff. If you really think he's scared of you then it makes his move even more likely to be a desparate attempt to get ahead. I'm good enough to know when I'm being outplayed and when that happens I start gambling, it could be what he's doing here. Plus if I was in his place with the nuts I wouldn't lump it all in like that in what sounds like a grinding heads battle. I'd raise it back for another thousand or so knowing I'd get a call from almost any heart. His all-in smells to me of desparate bluff. Jezza's answer is has a lot going for it but personally I've faced too many cold decks and vicious beats (against players I knew I owned) to pass up a chance like this, I'm calling and I'm happy with my decision if I've got it wrong. Title: Re: $160 DS to WSOP package .. HU on first table tough decision Post by: totalise on March 28, 2006, 01:26:24 AM I'd fold, and not give it a second thought. If he is prone to making ludicrous overbets on weak hands, u will likely get him to do it again anyways... but given the pot size, you need a real good read on someone to make this call, and you dont have it, so give him the benefit of the doubt.

HU on first table tough decision Post by: Suited_Jock on March 28, 2006, 10:24:32 AM Appreciate the advice guys now i've slept on it I feel unless I knew 100% that he had the Jh I shoulda folded... I know for a fact i coulda outplayed the guy with a 5k . stack My HU I feel is one of my strongest aspects of my game, and i think if i had a bit longer to think about it I woulda came to the conclusion of folding.
Unfortunately there was only 9 seconds left in my time bank balance... Not that Im making excuses im just saying it isnt exactly an ABC Poker decision. Anyway it was my first DS I'd played plenty time left and if fa te has anything to do with it I lost my first DS to Atlantis HU then won the next one :). I think everyone probably guessed villain did have the :Jh :) |
