sorry i thought if arsenal won CL then finished outside top 2 in EPL then both scottish teams had to quailfy
how does this if arsenal finish 4th work in celtics favour?

excuse my ignorance i havent been following the euro seen this season as aberdeen and southampton failed to quailfy AGAIN

if arsenal win CL they will get seeded along with the top 2 in england meaning there is 1 less seeded spot open and scotland have that 16th spot so our winners would be 17th seed and have to play in 3rd quailfing round

but liverpool never got seeded last year after winning it, i thought it was if arsenal didnt qualify through a league position, then they would replace the team that finished 4th in the epl, and 3rd and 4th in epl are not seeded

the rule change after the debarcle that was 5 english teams is from now on winners get in if a country already has 4 members then 1 drops out the cl winners are automatically given a seeding in top 16

why they still have sei to play after they beat juve

and they will lose concentration if they make semi and league form will dip

i still dont fancy arsenal for the CL either though they will get to semis the hard way

Celtic need eithe Barca, AC, or Juve to win this seasons Champions League so we don't have to play a qualifier.

To be perfectly honest, regardelss of how many see our league as unopetitive I think its a joke that those teams who can finnish 2nd in some leagues get ranked above champions of others its clearly not fair and solely desigend to benefit the bigger leagues.

what a day, what a week.

arsenal are firing on all cylinders, looking like potential champions of europe. while spurs are looking a bit nervous struggling to beat WBA at home and losing to a newcastle team that had lost their last 5.

to be honest im very surprised that tottenhams ok season has lasted this long and that our indifferent start lasted as long as it did.

with 1 foot in the champions league semi final after totally outclassing and outplaying italy's top team and only 2 points behind the scum from down the road with a game in hand and them to come to highbury our worst season in 10 and tottenhams best might not turn out too bad after all.

LOL...thats the point! Otherwise we'd have a load of average teams in the group stages - surely its not fair that a team like say Man U or Liverpool would have to play a qualifier and Celtic wouldn't - the level of competition just isnt comparable.

Since Wenger has changed Flamini for Cygan your team have an attacking edge on the left, and your results have changed.

Spurs don't deserve to be in the Champions League, we're the 5th best team in the league and I will be happy if we come 5th.

WOW, i must admit i thought my post might get a big bite from you ;goodvevil;.. Im not sure if that is an honest response or one where you throw it back in my face if at the end of the season if you grab 4th.

you are right though since matty flamini has come in at left back and replaced cygan we are alot better both going forward and defensivley.

cygan is that bad i wouldnt even wish him on you :D.

NEM , NEM , NEM .... put the rose tinted glasses back on mate .... Yes if someone offered us long suffering spurs fans 5th or 6th we would have snapped their arm off... But while it is mathematically possible to finish above those purple pansies , I will continue to Smack them round the face with it.

We still have to go to that toilet up the road, and when we win the last ever North London derby on that manure sodden dump, they will never be able to forget it.

Chin up matey ....The futures bright ... THE FUTURES WHITE !!!

This season was our big chance. Arsenal not firing on all cylinders and we blew it by drawing to many of our games and losing to shite like Newcastle and Fulham. Next season it is gong to be very hard to break into the top 4. The top 4 will not be broken for a very long time...

Kev: My chin is up mate, tbh it's good to be a rival to Arsenal again. ;)

Whilst I agree that Flamini has been a revelation at left back, and obvoiusly a big improvement on Cygan,
I feel that Lauren getting injured has been a real blessing in disguise.

I've never been a big fan of Lauren, too lazy for my liking and have been hoping to see him replaced for a year or two.

But Eboue came of age by going to the African Nations tourney and playing every game alongside Toure.

When they returned they both fitted seamlessly into the back four,
and I reckon Eboue might now be the best attacking right back in the Premiership.

Oh and we also have the best goalkeeper in the Premiership too.

Right, this might come back and bite me in the arse.

I've purchased my flight for the champions league final in paris today.

Before you all start having a pop at me saying we are not there yet and villereal are no pushovers I KNOW.

I havent done it to be cocky although i do think that we now have a great chance. i have done it because today a return flight to paris is £95. but a flight to paris next week is £300 so IF we do get through how much will they be then?? £400+ maybe. so although the flight is non refundable or transferable i feel im getting possibly 3/1+ on my money if you look at it like a bet.

does anybody think this is really silly?? or does it make sense

Then you started talking about your goalkeeper.

"In form" does not mean best.

There are at least 3 better IMO (possibly more) and all 3 are younger.

Well if he's in form then he's been in form for about a year.

After winning his place back from the hapless IMO Almunia Lehmann has been superb.

He won us the FA cup last season almost single-handedly, and has been virtually faultless all of this season
even though we have played poorly by our standards for long stretches.

How long do you have to be in form to be the best ?

Yes at 32 he's getting on a bit, but as yet he's not showing any signs of decline,
the opposite if anything, and even his temperament seems far more controlled.

I wouldn't swop him for another 'keeper given the chance.

I thought he was 35 but I could be wrong? I agree Lehman has been class but look around the Premiership.

Cech - 27 clean sheets last season including nine in a row.

Reina - About to break Liverpool's club record 34 clean sheets this season, also had 11 in a row.

Robinson - Ok I cant tell you any stats for him but he's easily England's no. 1 and a class act in my eyes.

Given - Single handedly stopped Newcastle being a complete shambles at the back. They dont have a back 5, they have a back 1!

That's not even mentioning some guys like Niemi and Jaaskeleinen who have done it consistently at unfashionable clubs without mention. Lehman is very good but he's not the best by any stretch. He's old, has a dodgy temprement and has had his share of howlers in the past. Why else did Wenger buy Alumina?

Lehman is 35.

Dan good deal on your flight to Paris, already planning on making the trip myself too, although i know it will be impossible to get a ticket for the game itself. I agree Villareal will be no pushovers ( they have the mighty Forlan after all lol) but with evryone else floundering this season (even Barca looked outta sorts against Benfica) this is our best chance in europe for many a year.

I agree its good that the Yids are competing this season, and it certainly looks like St Totteringhams day is coming late this year, it would be worth finishing 5th and winning the CL to deny em a place lol.

Eboue and Cesc have been a revelation this year and Lehman seems to have grown up which helps, cant wait for the transfer window to open tho, we may actually sign someone this year and then give Theo a few games oo

karabiner, i dont totally agree with your opinion on lauren. at the start of the season when we were struggling he was actually our most consistent performer. i do agree though eboue has been awesome. i remember going to the FA cup game which i think was his debut and he looked out of his depth. he also looked like he was struggling against doncaster in the league cup but since he went to the african nations he has been superb.

about our goalkeeper. many have said in the past that he was out weak link which is rubbish. how can a goalkeeper who went his first season without losing a league game a weak link and in his 2nd season win the FA cup be a weak link.

im not sure he is the best in the prem but there are not many i would swap him for... maybe cech but thats it

if we get there you have to go even without a ticket, we might not get there again for a while(its taken us this long to get to the semis) it would be a great trip.

kev, to be honest i dont know who we want and i wont be hoping either get through because if i cheer for one of them to go through they will probably beat us in the final.

in a way i would like to play barca because they are probably the best team in europe(agreed) but i think they will play a more open game against us and hopefully leave us a few gaps to exploit. milan on the other hand would keep it alot tighter and let us come on to them a bit more rather than take the game to us and try and hit us on the break.

i think if barca get through it could be a great final

p.s baron, 3 more weeks make the most of it

nem you are right, in the final it could go either way.

one thing i know is that i would rather play barca in a one off game rather than 2 legs i think we have more of a chance
