If they do all the heats in order then, tonight and tomorrow will be the celeb heats.  I was in Heat 6 (last one)  so i estimate mine won't be on till NEXT Wednesday.  Rhow played heat 2 i believe so later on this week for her heat.

I have turned it over Iron, the line up has a model, a comic, a few actresses and someone that proudly announced in her pre game interview that she had never ever ever ever played poker.

I am left with one word.....why?

Glad you said that and not me!  I am trying to stay impartial because i was part of this....BUT this heat seams to confirmed to me what i feared about this tourny.  I will stay with it and remember that tonight and tomorrow are the Celeb qualifiers, then the "real" poker starts on Wednesday.  They are on nightly and believe there are 10 shows in total.

I started watching this last night and had to switch off.  This was supposed to be a serious women's poker event and there was no indication that the first broadcast of a 'celebrity' table was going to be a bit of a joke.  Great - bring in celebrities to get people watching, but why not make it a prerequesit that the celebs can actually play?  I fear that anyone who tuned in 'out of interest' last night won't be coming back for more and miss out on seeing the decent heats.

Unfortunately this is the way TV in general is going. Over the past year or so we've had: poker TV shows with celebrities who can't play poker, singing shows with celebrities who can't sing, dancing shows with celebrities who can't dance, an ice skating show with celebrities who can't ice skate etc etc. FFS we've even had Celebrity Mastermind with celebrities getting fewer correct answers on their 'specialist subject' than me sat at home watching it with no prior knowledge of what the subject would be.

TV is full of lazy, lazy commissioning people with no imagination. At least with specialist TV channels you've got a chance that the commissioners know their audience is more discerning and so will not necessarily need to dumb things down so much.

What IS it with these TV Execs? How STUPID are they? Can none of them think outside of the "formulaic" box?
 
The later, "proper" Heats, are terrific TV, I promise. But they have just lost 80% of their viewers before it got to the proper poker.

Add TV Execs to Estate Agents. Shoot them. Shoot them I say. Except the ones who employ me, who are, without exception, far-sighted & truly wonderful. Obviously.

I'm sooooooooo glad I watched America's Next Top Model instead of this now.

The concept runs smooth through the mind of a TV exec -

"Obviously, more untried and untested viewers are going to want to watch someone they might have vaguely heard of (Stephanie Beacham?) play poker, than someone they've never heard of - even if unknown pro player can actually play better.

So, we put the celebrity heat on first, to try and get new viewers; safe in the knowledge that the people who already know what poker's about will come back anyway next week to watch their favourite pros play."

i don't mind watching some of the celebrity poker shows as they can be quite entertaining, especially seeing bad plays.
One downside to this show was that I only recognised three of the celebrities and no idea who the others were. They did explain at the start of the show, but I was none the wiser.
With the heads up the two just looked fed up and moaned about how long it took and that they were tired/bored and didn't make a good show.
It can only get better.

stick either of the 2 in the heads up against someone who knows what they're donig and it'd be a quicker match...lambs, slaughter, blood, carnage

I just wanted to clarify something.  The two celeb "heats" that have been on the last 2 nights are not heats.  They are just celeb qualifiers.  So last nights and tonights 1st places win entry into the actual heats which begin tomorrow night.  There will be 6 of those, then a runners up consolation type table, then the final table.  Phew...got that out x

At least tonights game is an improvement on last nights!!

I see Beverley Pace is doing well, Plays alot on laddies under the name cbass qualified for laddies poker cruise and has now qualified for WSOP on laddies

vicky coren knows here way round the table and would dominate and scare the other celebs

What a tv night it is. I think i have worked it out to set the tape up to tape Tikays lesson at 8 on I think pokerzone then on channel 121 from 10 to 11 and then Tikay on 854 for an hour and then tape the last half hour at midnight on 122.

I wasn't impresed by the winner.  She never really knew what she was doing.  Whast was that "i'll call and raise" all about, if she said call IMO thats a call!!  What was mad marty thinking of allowing that??

Last hand she hits the flush she didn't know she was drawing to, thought she was drawing for a King or Five, the latter would have given the other a straight. "Did I win?" she asks. Not sure about girlies and poker.

I was not that impressed by the winner either, I thought Clare was the class player on the final.

As for the "call and raise" statement, I would say that it was old fashioned rather than incorrect.

We always used to raise by saying "call and raise the pot".

Eunice didn't quite know where she was at at times, but seemed a really nice lady & sure the money meant a lot to her.
Must admit I misunderstood the last game that Chilli won as thought this qualified her for the final, must have been a consolation game only.

I don't dispute that mate.  I reckon it meant loads to her and best of luck, but as a poker player I wasn't impressed with her she definately looked like a fish out of water. 

Although when she slow played the aces against the American girl that was nice!!  It still seemed like a bitter pill for her to follow in the post game interview.
