Title: Anyone doing any good in Luton ?
Post by: Karabiner on April 04, 2006, 10:57:12 AM
Come on boys and girls, give us unfortunates who are stuck at home some updates please.

I think I was the last of the Blonde Mods Massive to crash out. At 4.30am. 20th. 18 get paid

JP Kelly was chip leader at that time, having looked down and found AA three times when facing an all in bet to him in one level!

Micky Wernick also well placed.

The lovely Clare from Blackpool was there and asked me to thank you all for your continued interest in her puppies

I have to say that although they seem to be growing well and are full of bounce and vitality, to an experienced eye like mine they were obviously well restrained, and in my opinion she has been availing herself of the services of a good handler

Not much to report Ralph.

Sold out 6 hours before it started, they upped capacity to 150, started bang on time. Top Prize was 33% of the Prize Pool - excellent! (imo...)

Good quality field. Recall seeing Lord Wernick, Jim Reid, Denis O'Mahoney, Penly, J P Kelly, Big Os, Micky Jones, Burnley John, Couch (Railing Duties), Thewy, Bad Girl, Booder, Smokin Steve, Phil Peters, Greg Amoils, Jeff Rogers, Paul King, M3Boy, too many others to mention. Team blonde had Tighty, Red, sloppy, Jen, me.

All the Team blonde crew exited early-ish except Tighty. Sloopy was out VERY early - 3 way coup, AK v AK v Micky Jones (Chunky Mick) QQ.

Sorry cant be more helpful - was home by 0100.......

My next Luton date is Thursday. Hope to bring you more news that night....!

Yes, I went out early. 5k doesn't give you as much time to maneouvre as you might think.

Not much I could do on the exit hand. Mick Jones raises, I reraised, Dave Penley moved all-in from under the gun. Mick called. I only had 1.2k left, so had to hope and pray.

A-K v A-K v Q-Q

No help.

Errrrr my chip lead was short lived as I BUBBLED ooops.

Gotta say I really enjoyed this event and my tables had fantastic table banter all night, the ipod was not required! The only downpoint was the open criticism of the hand where I lost a lot of chips near the end (easy when you see the button who has raised 5 in a row has QQ huh guys). Other than that, I hope for more of the same for the rest of the week and I will be a happy chappie by the end of the week win, lose or draw!?

Oh and keep an eye out for a young guy called Dan Carter dunno if he's still in but was playing VERY well and had the whole table tearing their hair out. He is playing all week I think don't underestimate him!

If only more players viewed the game that way - top Post by a Top bloke.

Dan Carter? Yes, he is quite special, I watched him demolish a good table in Luton 2 Fessies bck - most imprrssive, nice lad too.

Chunky Mick also bubbled.

The info is slowly trickling through Ralph!

The absence of a 75/150 & 150/300 level meant that Level 4 was 200-400, so with a 5k starting stack, there was no time to hang around. 26 players busted out before the first break at the end of Level 3. I gather 150-300 WILL be played in the Main Event.

JP - I am trying to sort out that matter we discussed. Will PM you.

was he the young lad in seat 9 when you were in seat 1 on the same table as tim flanders?

JP's Post, in which his joy & enthusiasm for the game shone through like a beacon, (despite bubbling, he's still bubbly) reminded me of one Gentleman on my table last night.

Jaw grimly set, permanent frown, never a trace of a smile or any hint that he was enjoying himself. I politely asked why he played the game if it made him so miserable, he said he was "happy inside". Fair enough I guess, we all show our emotions in different ways.

Anyway, I set out to make him smile, & I eventually succeeded. His TT stood up against my AK suited & he busted me good & proper. That'll teach me.......

It's a weird thng, but I really do like to see people enjoying theselves at the table, & it almost tilts me to see "long faces". Guess it's an age thing.

He was seat 8 with the curly brown hair and mountains of chips. He has a good game for sure. What I enjoyed yesterday was that the main table I was on had some horrendous bad beats yet nobody complained and everyone just got on with it. It was a really fun game and I was genuinely not disappointed at all to finish 19th as I was playing for 1st and not to get my money back. Roll on tonight is all I can say!!

He has the look of David Gower about him, but the hair is brown, not blonde, & he looks to be very young, maybe 18-20.

JP, talking about young Dan Carter, said this.....

Haha yes David Gower I see it now. Some of the players were going "He'll get caught soon" yet folding every time he raised was quite funny to watch.

I was in a semi-Final in Luton late last year I think it was. Bubble time approached, Dan arrived at table with plenty of chips.

He Raised EVERY hand, for at least 3 orbits. Burnley John was on the table, & got a bit growly with the kid, who said nothing, just kept Raising. If anyone Re-Reaised, he just moved all-in. He lost a few hands, but by & large, his any two cards trick was working, & he claimned John's scalp on the way.

I found AK & we went to war. Another bubble ensued for yours truly, beaten by 4-9.

Buit this lad is a perfect Gent at the table, got a bit of Thewy in him, you know, ever-smiling-now-give me-your-chips-sunshine....

Great prospect.

I could watch Gosney play for hours!! - He is CLASS.

Another player that adopts the same style is Dave "The Gambler" Courtney - who just happened to be on my table in the £200. I knew I was in for lots of chips or an early bath, sadly it was the latter - not even seeing the 100 200 level!!

These guys (Gosney and Dave) play SO aggressive, raising most hands, calling re raises . You NEVER know where you are with them, they could have AA or indeed J4 and play them the same.

VERY hard to play against, you cant sit and wait for premium hands with these guys, cos even if u have say KK (as I did) and its a raggy board with no flush, they can easily hit 2 pair, but will bet the same way with nothing. Unfortunately for me Dave had 2 pair Jacks and fours.

Back for the £750 , 10,000 points starting (double chance) so should be alot more play.

Back for the £750 , 10,000 points starting (double chance) so should be alot more play.

Somethings always puzzled me with the double chance format (never played one)

You say its a £750 D/C so is it £750 for your 1st 5,000 and another £750 if you lose that or say pay £1500 and get the full 10,000?

Title: Re: Anyone doing any good in Luton ?
Post by: M3boy on April 04, 2006, 06:39:10 PM
No, its £750 for 10,000 chips

Half of which you get at the start, the other half you can take if you go down to 2500 , or you get them at the end of level 2 i believe.

Some places let you take them whenever you like, so you can start with the full 10000, but you have to be half of the origional 5000 at Luton

Well i read this and found it amusing, that was not a large tourney but i really enjoyed it. Everyone was playing super tight before the bubble so i was just raising every hand, and with the blinds being like 1/4 of most peoples stacks, they just kept folding. :D
