Title: Grand National Post by: GlasgowBandit on April 04, 2006, 04:10:42 PM Ok folks the big one is this weekend.
Whats the mortgage going on? I have a pretty decent track record in the national I normally back 2/3 each year and I have backed 6 winners out the last 7. My cash is already on Ebony Light e/w I would have backed Clan Royal looks a certainty after last year but the price is far too short for me. Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Graham C on April 04, 2006, 04:33:26 PM Took Clan Royal ages ago and is a must imo. This is the only race Clan Royal has been trained for since the last National (I'm still miffed about it being taken out last time!)
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: ericstoner on April 04, 2006, 06:21:29 PM yep Clan royal for me too. 8)
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Tertoc on April 04, 2006, 06:53:23 PM I like Hedgehunter & Clan Royal, however I think for a race with 30 runners and no guarantees your horse will finish (remember Clan Royal the past 2 years - looked like the winner a furlong from home in 04 then in 05 got carried out on the last circuit). For me, the prices are far too short in such a race.
imo they are the 2 best horses in the race, I just wouldn't be comfortable taking such a short price on those 2. I have always had a bet in the National, however I am seriously considering not having a bet in this year's race. Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Trace on April 04, 2006, 07:07:45 PM I backed Clan Royal to win.
Ebony Light e/w. And one random one where the name means something to me e/w as well. I normally get a tip from a lad at work, I will have to get in contact with him and find out. He has the luck of the Irish. Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Teacake on April 04, 2006, 07:47:57 PM Yip I was on Clan Royal last year as well but can't be having 5/1 :o
Both Hedgehumper & Clan Royal will drift between now & race time but I'll have a closer look towards the end of the week Title: Re: Grand National Post by: bobby1 on April 05, 2006, 06:33:55 AM The trends go towards horses carrying below 11 stones(hedgehunter carried 11-1 last year but the previous 9 winners all has less than 11 stones) that have either good course form or good staying form.
My two against the field are garvivonian (20/1 with laddies)and numbersixvalverde(12/1 around) good luck Title: Re: Grand National Post by: crip17 on April 05, 2006, 09:40:33 AM Dun Doire
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Tank Maestro on April 05, 2006, 07:59:29 PM Le Duc
This horse is seriously Overpriced. Title: Re: Grand National Post by: cambo on April 06, 2006, 07:40:40 PM forest gunner e/w for me
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: seamus on April 07, 2006, 02:26:45 PM direct access ew @ 33:1 betfair Title: Re: Grand National Post by: ifm on April 07, 2006, 02:40:29 PM OOOOOh, i drew clan royal in the sweepstake at work :D
Glad i read this thread now. Title: Re: Grand National Post by: pokerdave69 on April 07, 2006, 02:45:51 PM Jack High for me £25 e/w
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: stallyon on April 07, 2006, 04:53:07 PM Jack High for me £25 e/w everyone knows that Jack High never wins :D Title: Re: Grand National Post by: The Baron on April 07, 2006, 04:57:21 PM Hedgehunter is a class above for me.
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Reagster on April 07, 2006, 06:52:05 PM No offence to those who have backed Clan Royal / Hedgehunter, but to back any horse in the grand national at odds around the 6.0 or 7.0 is madness.
Cornish Rebel for me - 2nd in the Scottish National. Slightly tempermental. It is Nicholls' pick of his stable tho. Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Steve L on April 07, 2006, 09:51:27 PM Joe's Edge e/w for me, he had some good form last season, including winning the Scottish National (admittedly carrying a lot less weight), but he is still only carrying 10-10 and I have a feeling he has been laid out for this race. Obviously the two market leaders are going to take all the beating, but there is no value to be had backing horses at those prices in the National.
So, in short, don't back Joe's Edge I have tipped it so it is bound to be the first faller in the race! Title: Re: Grand National Post by: fergus8 on April 08, 2006, 02:24:46 AM ive got a 5er each way on tripod, bit of a doubt if it has the legs for the final furlong or two 8)
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Indestructable on April 08, 2006, 06:33:09 AM I have been predictable and gone for Jack High. :D
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: pokerdave69 on April 08, 2006, 10:45:33 AM Looks like me & you will be cheering it on together ed. COME ON
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Karabiner on April 08, 2006, 11:48:20 AM Looks like me & you will be cheering it on together ed. COME ON Are you sure PD ? I have not removed the timeform squiggle that I awarded you earlier in the week ;) Gone for Innox myself. Also had tickle bets on Risk Accessor and Sir OJ. Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Teacake on April 08, 2006, 12:42:39 PM Its Garvivonion for me. Its done it over the National fences, only fallen once in 86 races & is getting 18 pounds from Hedgehunter.
Hedgehunter is the class horse but don't fancy it carrying such weight with the softening ground. Clan Royal is to headstrong & is more likely to place than win but can't have it so short priced. Title: Re: Grand National Post by: dan on April 08, 2006, 12:46:41 PM Clan royal and hedgehunter look great horses but at around 6/1 not much value. ive gone for forest gunner and jack high
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Delboy on April 08, 2006, 12:57:58 PM I've gone with Ebony Light, Garvivonnian and Numbersixvalver all E/W . Would have gone with Clan Royal if it had a better price
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: Ironside on April 08, 2006, 01:18:17 PM i have a free £1 bet after backing 2 outsiders high and laying them low on betfair so unless my outsiders come in when i will get a nice little earner then £1 is my winnings so who should i put it on?
Title: Re: Grand National Post by: 4KingNutz on April 08, 2006, 01:28:46 PM innox for me but also had a tenner on risk assesor at 66-1 puntal allso 66-1 a good bet in my opinion
