Title: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: smithy69 on April 10, 2006, 01:18:05 PM As everyone knows (or most) I am due a baby in only a few weeks now. She has been booked into hospital today for a examination as the baby is now 40cms from head to bum. now it might just be me, but with 4 weeks according to the doctors to go (i think 2) that seems extremely big and bloody well painful.
Any mums or dads out there got any experience of sizes etc. it has gone well over the acceptable size for its 36 weeks approx. size. I am sooooooo glad I am a Man Any one wanna run a book on weight - i reckon 10lbs Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: Nem on April 10, 2006, 01:25:59 PM Any one wanna run a book on weight - i reckon 10lbs Poor girl. Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: Claw75 on April 10, 2006, 01:27:38 PM Hiya,
is that an actual measurement taken from a scan, or is the tape-measurement that the midwives do at the ante-natal? If it's the latter (and hopefully to put your mind at rest a bit), when I was pregnant I found that one midwife could measure several cm different to another! Good luck with the impending arrival! Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: smithy69 on April 10, 2006, 01:36:22 PM Hi there,
Thanks for that Apparently 2 have measured it today, and both have measured it to be the same length. They have booked her in for 2pm today for a hospital scan so they can have a better look. her midwife appt was for 11.45 so they have acted reasonably fast, but they have told her not to worry. I was 12lb when i was born and she was a healthy 7lb odd so we know its gonna be big anyways, but looking at a ruler that 40 cms is looking hugeeeeeeee Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: Nem on April 10, 2006, 01:40:08 PM Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: smithy69 on April 10, 2006, 01:46:38 PM i was actually 12lbs 4oz
and am now 6ft 4'' so seems if your a big baby - it stays with ya lol no wonder my old dear always looks grumpy, i think i would if I had to get that out of me (and it was natural) ouchhhhhhhhhh Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: Claw75 on April 10, 2006, 01:55:54 PM Hi there, Thanks for that Apparently 2 have measured it today, and both have measured it to be the same length. Blimey - I hope your wife has big feet!!! Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: smithy69 on April 10, 2006, 02:15:22 PM they are 8's
why Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: Claw75 on April 10, 2006, 02:37:05 PM there is apparently a direct correlation between foot size and pelvis size, so big feet = good for big baby!
Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: ruthless1 on April 10, 2006, 02:49:05 PM You will know better once she has the scan, the measurement are from the pelvis bone to the top of her bump, it a rough guide to measure week of pregancy. She could be carring a lot of water, thats why her measurements are 40cm. Goodluck and i wish you all the best 8)
Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: North Angel on April 10, 2006, 02:54:26 PM 12lb WOW.
After having 4 children the midwives never got any of my babies weights right. Mine always measured alot more than what they were, as i carried alot of water. I would have a guess since you were both good weights as babies, I would go for 9lb 12oz for your baby. Good Luck to you both :)up Ang x x Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: yt on April 10, 2006, 03:07:30 PM http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/content_pages/record.asp?recordid=48351
Heaviest Birth Anna Bates (née Swan) (Canada) (1846–88), who measured 2.27 m (7 ft 5.5 in) tall, gave birth to a boy weighing 10.8 kg (23 lb 12 oz) and measuring 76 cm (30 in) long, at her home in Seville, Ohio, USA, on January 19, 1879, but the baby died 11 hours later. The heaviest baby born to a healthy mother was a boy weighing 10.2 kg (22 lb 8 oz) who was born to Sig. Carmelina Fedele (Italy) at Aversa, Italy in September 1955. It was reported in a letter to the British Medical Journal (1 February 1879) from a doctor in Torpoint, Cornwall, UK, that a child born on Christmas Day 1852 weighed 9.5 kg (21 lb). The only other reported birthweight in excess of 9 kg (2O lb) is 9.13 kg (20 lb 2 oz) for a boy born to a 33-year-old schoolmistress in Crewe, Cheshire, UK on November 12, 1884. Guy Warwick Carr was born on March 9, 1992, the eighth child of Andrew and Nicola Carr (who measured 1.57 m (5ft 2in) tall) of Kirkby-in-Furness, Cumbria, UK, weighing 7 kg (15 lb 8 oz). He was 63 cm (25 in) in length and midwives at the Maternity Unit had to raid the Childrens Ward for nappies and clothes large enough to fit him. My last baby they did measurements at 37 wks and baby was teeny 5.3 so they started me off and i had her a day later weighing exactly 5.3 . I was born 14lbs and 60cm long and I have a brother who was 12lbs. I got my picture in the sun newspaper :). The 23lbs baby is the biggest natural birth but there was a report of a 29lbs baby in China born by C Section. The 15lbs 6oz mentioned is the biggest reported birth in England. Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: Indestructable on April 10, 2006, 07:10:17 PM is there a sweep being run on the weight?

Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: Nem on April 10, 2006, 07:12:42 PM I was born 14lbs and 60cm long Wow. My son is 6 weeks old and he doesn't even weigh 14lbs yet. My first son I was told was small and was 9lb 3oz (my prediction btw) and he was the easiest birth. The other 2 I was told would be big babies and they were smaller. I had 2 sons (lost a daughter inbetween) and LONGED for a girl, on the scan of my 4th child I was ectatic when I was I was told ...nope cant see a willy :-) The scanner/widwife went on to tick all the boxes of a healthy baby and then slipped in that she had a long leg...my heart sank but I thought thats ok she would just have to wear special shoes. We got outside the hospital and I burst into tears, wtf said my partner, he fell out laughing when I told him what I thought but I still went back in to make sure she was just TALL. Last summer a friend of mine was in the school playground the day after giving birth to her 7th child who weighed 13lb +, she was bragging how easy and quick the birth was and the fact that she didn't need any stitches. LIE GIRL LIE ::) Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: charmaine on April 10, 2006, 11:49:23 PM I don't know why, this being a poker forum, I clicked on this thread expecting to read a Phil Hellmuth story... :dontask: PMSL rotflmfao All 3 of my babies weights were predicted wrongly. I moan if I have to go to the shop to get a pint of milk.
Apparently (and this may be a urban legend), but size wise a woman giving birth to a normal weighted baby, is the same as a man pushing a pineapple out the end of his equipment. Now I am not being funny, but I would moan - and def. wouldn't be looking forward to it as my missus is.!!!!!!!!!!! Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: bundle on April 11, 2006, 09:09:50 AM Trust me if you had a pineapple stuck in your wots it, you would be looking forward to passing it too
Title: Re: Worlds Biggest Baby Possibly Post by: smithy69 on April 11, 2006, 09:14:54 AM that may be the case but I def. wouldnt be saying

Well, not really but an extra few quid never hurts eh ;) |
