A lot of cards can come on the turn that either a) send someone ahead of you or b) kill any action from hands that would potentially give you action on the flop... and neither of these are good
if they fold the flop, then it just means that you wouldn't have got much action later on anyways, unless of course you were beat.. which really would have been disasterous. Title: Re: Should I have won more....... Post by: KeithyB on April 13, 2006, 06:52:15 PM I agree that you have to be happy picking up the pot with a pre flop pair of eights against five other hands!
After the flop comes you can't slow play the trip 8's with three spades on the board ( esp vs 5 other hands! ) so a bet to find out where you are here is essential. As Total says the turn card could easily send someone ahead of you and is, at least, highly likely to set up some tasty tempting draws to beat you on the river. All in all a good result for you taking it down here. Title: Re: Should I have won more....... Post by: TightEnd on April 13, 2006, 10:17:29 PM you have to bet trip 8s here, at the very least to make the Aspades pay a good amount to see another card
A maxim I try and think about is..if I am ahead now but think the texture of the board is such that it might not be the case further down ther streets, bet it big and be happy to win it there and then Ok thats not a maxim, but that's my thought process |
