Title: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 02:58:21 PM Afternoon all!
We're back and the second day of the Irish Open is about to commence... after a VERY long day yesterday, the sleepy players (and updaters) are returning and the chips are coming out of their baggies. Get ready for another exciting day of poker featuring Stuart Fox, Mickey Wernick, Joe Grech, Rob Yong and Chili! Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Lou on April 16, 2006, 03:01:39 PM I just want to say GOOD LUCK to Nick and Rob. They're both on really good form right now. And Jen and Snoops, the updates have been fantastic. I don't know where you get the energy from!
Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 03:01:43 PM Well, somehow we've got these chip counts up thanks to a chain of intrepid reporters - ending with Antesup's MIKE LACEY. And after playing cash all night. Oh the stamina.

There were 45 (I think) and the one that lasts the longest gets a free $12,000 WSOP prize package! Cool, no?
To be honest, there were so many black Paddy Power shirts at the start it was a little confusing - and I think there are still 10 or so... Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 03:09:06 PM And they're off!
Blinds 1,000/2,000 ante 100, so expect early fireworks from the shorter stacks. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: snoopy1239 on April 16, 2006, 03:16:23 PM Now for some piccies...
Although Kev claims that a norkologist never sleeps, he's only come up with one norkage pic. Losing his touch? Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 03:16:40 PM And I kid you not, there have already been three eliminations! One was Padraig Parkinson losing A 10 against K 4...
Rob Yong just doubled up a short stack which hit trip Tens; Mick Jones does the same (not sure about those hands though). Feel like I should develop some kind of short hand, it's happening so fast down here... Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 03:20:45 PM We're down to 80 players!
Scratch that - 79, just lost Pippa Flanders, who took on a very short small blind with a big blind autocall, then made a stand with Ks Qs, and got the big blind calling with Ahrt 4d. There was one Ace and one King on the board, but nothing else came and she joins Tim on the rail. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: snoopy1239 on April 16, 2006, 03:22:01 PM Here's Padraig pre-elimination. (as you can tell from his happy face)

Good luck to him. Tommy Dunwoodie, Mickey W. and Mel Judah. Thanks for your help. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: snoopy1239 on April 16, 2006, 03:26:14 PM Here's the cheeky chappy Mr Yong.
He's been yoyoing big stylee over the last couple of days. He's clearly been taking tips off Thewy, but, as Kev said yesterday, Julian's was more of a 'yo'. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: snoopy1239 on April 16, 2006, 03:33:38 PM How about this for a clash?
Joe Grech v Mel Judah 17k in the pot with a flop of Ad 5s 4s Joe bets out and Mel Judah moves all-in. Joe passes. [attachment deleted by admin] Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 03:34:23 PM Rumit is remarkably composed after his elimination. But the final hand wasn't really the decider - he lost most of his chips with the good old Ac Aspades in the small blind. Vincent Melina raised to 6k preflop, Rumit re-raised to 15k - call.
Flop: Ks Jh 8d Vincent moved in with his Kd Qd and Rumit did as one might expect and called. Turn: Ahrt River: Tc and the critical damage was done, knocking him down to 6,000. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 03:39:30 PM Down to 72 players and I think it's time for breakfast.
The €300 tourney tonight is rapidly reaching Full level, and I spotted more than one player asking mates to buy them in, in case their short stacks didn't miraculously get them to the final table... Chip Leader - Paul Roper Mike Lacey was muttering something about 160,000... Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: snoopy1239 on April 16, 2006, 03:42:50 PM Cheeky chappy Rob Yong doubles through.
Mateyboy raises from under the gun for 7k. Rob makes it 21k from trap 3. Another Mateyboy (sry about the mateyboys - no seating positions available for us poor updaters :-() moves all-in for another 15k. Rob calls instantly. Rob = Kd Kh Mateyboy = Qs Qd Board = 9c Ac Jc Ad 3d Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: snoopy1239 on April 16, 2006, 03:43:40 PM Another man down.

No, hold on, I actually have their names now. Get in! Caroline McKever = A-J Brendan Roune = A-T The jack on the flop kind of killed things off for Brendan. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 03:48:19 PM Double Up for Ian Woodley -
A crowd formed behind us, as Ian Woodley got all in in a blind vs. blind situation on a board of: 7s Ks Tc 4d. His opponent showed Ts 3s, Ian had the Qc 4c. River: 4h ! And there was a little bit of slight swearing and "You raised with That? You called with That?" stuff. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: lockedin on April 16, 2006, 03:55:31 PM Great stuff once again. Any news of Liam Barker? He was short stacked, so he's probbaly been zero or hero by now.
Thanks Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: snoopy1239 on April 16, 2006, 03:55:51 PM Stu Fox has taken out a young player in trap 1.
All-in preflop, Stu has his opponent covered. Stu wasn't too chuffed to see pocket tens up against his J-9 suited, but he perked up somewhat when he caught a glimpse of the 9-9-Q flop. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: snoopy1239 on April 16, 2006, 03:57:50 PM Smithers has taken a horrible beat in a 100k pot.
Paddy McCloskey raises preflop with pocket sevens, Nick reraises from the blind with the cowboys (yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaar), McCloskey moves all in, (even more yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaars for Nick) and Nick calls. The yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaas soon turned into arrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhs though when the first card came a seven. Zoiks! He was shorstacked after his cowboys were desaddled, but he was caught with his hands in the cookie jar this time when he pushed a J-T on a 4-5-6-7 board. Mateyboy called with K-8. TIA Okay, how about this for service. With 16k, shortstack German George (a blondeite too!) moves all-in from the button. Tricky job though, as he has both Edgar Skjervold (2nd in Copenhagen EPT) and Roy 'The Boy' Brindley to get past in the blinds. Edgar folds reluctantly. Roy calls after a momentarily dwell. German George says 'er... I was making a position raise' and shows 6d 9s. Roy smiles and flips over Ad 5h German George smiles even more than Roy when the flop comes Ks Jh 6s. Suprisingly, Roy's smile diminshes and he taps the table, saying nice hand. (kind of prematurely I reckon) Anyhow, the 9c on the turn sealed it. River 5d (just to rub salt in wounds) So a double through for German George. ;cheerleader; Piccies below -- German George pre-teav-leaving and Roy the Boy post vaseline. Actually, I was surprised to see that Paul Roper was no longer in the big chip zone - down to 40k or thereabouts and he was involved in a pot of about 20k with Stephen. The board: 8s Qc Aspades Kh and Stephen moved all-in (also a bit shorter than I remember). And here came the chat, with no response: "After you've lost the hand you'll still be alive." "There's television here, you've got to entertain!" "Give me the chips, he's folded." A minute or so later, Paul did in fact fold, and I think I saw his hand as Ad Tc. Stephen let him see his Ahrt Jd... Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: snoopy1239 on April 16, 2006, 04:48:06 PM Joe Grech is OUT.

Mateyboy raises under the gun. Paddy McCloskey moves all-in. Connor Coony calls. Mateyboy moves all-in. Connor Coony thinks and think and thinks, then does a little bit more thinking before having a bit of a think... and then folds, showing Qh Qs. Mateyboy says good call and shows Aspades Ad. Connor Coony is relieved, but willing a queen NOT to hit the board... as most of us tend to do. Paddy McClosky, who clearly wasn't too confident at this stage, meekly reveals his pocket eights, 8h 8c. Connor Coony releases a sigh of relief as the flop brings Th Ac 4s Paddy McClosky needs a miracle. Turn = Jd River = Ks Connor Coony would have won! 'I'm still happy I made the right decision though', he declares behind gritted teeth. Mateyboy takes a humongous pot and Paddy McCloskey (who I reckon is an Irsh chap) is sent packing. He got involved with Rob Yong, calling preflop and finding 30k now in the pot on a 7s 5s 5c flop. He bet out 17k, and after a pause, Rob called. Turn: 2s. Stephen looks at Rob's stack, saying, "You've got a bit more than me..." Then does that wavy push forward motion announcing, "All in." "Call." Stephen says he's drawing dead as he shows Kc 8s Rob shows Aspades Ad River: 7c And Snoopy will get Rob's new count in a sec. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 06:17:19 PM In return for totally failing to identify several players on Joe Beevers' camera, he told me this big hand which gave a bunch of chips to Jon Wong -
Norman Walsh and he saw a flop of 5 J 5, and Norman decided to move in for a good large stack (50k?). After a good deal of table pacing, Jon called with AJ - and found AQ against him! It looks like these huge pots are placing three or four players far in front of the pack. The Notts Crew did well here, but Smithers & Chili are both a bit down - so near yet so far - though Rob Yong will carry the Notts flag proudly, & our very special mates Stuart Fox & Micky Wernick will do us proud, as will the several other blondeites still battling away. Apparantly, they're loving watching the box over here in the hotel... even though it's not their first language. They speak better English than me.
I suggested that they buy a tv whilst over here and take it back to Germany. Surely that would solve all their problems. :dontask: Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: snoopy1239 on April 16, 2006, 09:08:51 PM Stuart Fox -- 120k

Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 09:32:16 PM Barry Connolly is pretty much OUT after a big old gamble (250kish pot) with Brendan Ruane...
The flop of 3c 2s 8c hit Barry's 8h 8s pretty much smack on, but Brendan came along for the ride with the Ac Tc nut flush draw... You could sense the disappointment when the 4c hit the turn, and the Aspades river didn't help. He sat with his five small 1,000 chips remaining with his head down for a minute. But he outlasted Alan O'Gorman - who went OUT while I was typing this message. As far as chip distribution, there's a fair lot on Stuart Fox's table - I note especially Brendan Ruane with 360k. Flop = 4c Jc 2c Rob bets 40k. Paul Roper, who was sitting in the big blind, moves all-in for a big ol reraise. Rob dwells momentarily before announcing, rather authoritatively, 'Call'. Both players slap down their cards as the adrenalin runs. Rob = Jh Ks Roper = Ac 8c Roper celebrates, but prematurely?... Turn = Jd But no full house... River = 9s Rob down to 65k Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 16, 2006, 10:12:47 PM While I go and peer at some stacks for you...
This is what the rest of this extremely spacious room looks like, now it's buzzing with the simultaneously-running €300 event. Per Hildebrand is OUT in 11th Dave McGeachie is OUT in 10th Both eliminated by up-til-now quiet Conor Smith... Dave moved all-in for his 130,000 (the blinds are now 8k/16k) and after a bit of a think, Conor called. Per went for it too with his tiny stack and all that value from the blinds and they were on their backs: Dave showed: Aspades Td Conor showed: Jh Jd Per showed: 4s 4c Flop: 3c 8s Qc Turn: Qh River: 6d And we're suddenly down to Ten Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Ironside on April 17, 2006, 12:49:24 AM gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr unlucky david

He's been steadily keeping on... seems pretty reserved from what I've seen - and doesn't look as gormless in real life as this photo. And a really big shout just informed us that Jon Wong just knocked down Paul 'Hangman' Roper - Roper had Ahrt Kd against Jon's Jh Qh - all-in preflop. There was an Ace on the flop, BUT a Jack on the turn followed by a Jack on the river! Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open DAY TWO LIVE UPDATE Post by: Djinn on April 17, 2006, 01:27:33 AM And Paul Roper has been eliminated in 9th place, winning €26,000
It folded round to him in the small blind, and he found Ac 3d, and pushed for his 94,000. Big blind Conor Smith thought for a rather long time before calling with his Ts Tc. The board came: Jh 7s Kh 3s 9s (only slower, with pauses and stuff for the cameras) and he was the first out from the final table mark I (the final final is the six-seater tomorrow afternoon). Is it possible to get a updatet chipcount on the remaining players? aprox will do just fine. By the way.. top 6 money prizes? PS! It was fun to meet both the amazing Jennifer and the dashing Snoopy live during the Irish Open. can u guys tell your photografer that he has to nail that page 3 girl to the camera? PS2! Jen - it was no problem for you and Snoopy to come for the Norwegian Championships of Poker. Last weekend of April. $1000 buy-in. about 250 runners. 25.000$ added into the prizepool inform of two WSOP packages. One two the winner and one for the winner of a Heads Up between the Runner up and best female player. Great Value for you Jen. Think there will be less than 10 girls starting.
