We're back and the second day of the Irish Open is about to commence... after a VERY long day yesterday, the sleepy players (and updaters) are returning and the chips are coming out of their baggies.

Get ready for another exciting day of poker featuring Stuart Fox, Mickey Wernick, Joe Grech, Rob Yong and Chili!

I just want to say GOOD LUCK to Nick and Rob. They're both on really good form right now. And Jen and Snoops, the updates have been fantastic. I don't know where you get the energy from!

I'm not sure that we mentioned this yesterday, but Paddy Power has this kind of Last-Longer going with their online qualifiers.  There were 45 (I think) and the one that lasts the longest gets a free $12,000 WSOP prize package!  Cool, no?

To be honest, there were so many black Paddy Power shirts at the start it was a little confusing - and I think there are still 10 or so...

And they're off!

Blinds 1,000/2,000 ante 100, so expect early fireworks from the shorter stacks.

This just sounds like a awesome tournament...All this added money is just unheard of in poker.

Scratch that - 79, just lost Pippa Flanders, who took on a very short small blind with a big blind autocall, then made a stand with  Ks Qs, and got the big blind calling with  Ahrt 4d.  There was one Ace and one King on the board, but nothing else came and she joins Tim on the rail.

Rumit is remarkably composed after his elimination.  But the final hand wasn't really the decider - he lost most of his chips with the good old  Ac Aspades in the small blind.  Vincent Melina raised to 6k preflop, Rumit re-raised to 15k - call.

Vincent moved in with his Kd Qd and Rumit did as one might expect and called.

Okay, how about this for service.

With 16k, shortstack German George (a blondeite too!) moves all-in from the button.

Tricky job though, as he has both Edgar Skjervold (2nd in Copenhagen EPT) and Roy 'The Boy' Brindley to get past in the blinds.

Edgar folds reluctantly.

Roy calls after a momentarily dwell.

Actually, I was surprised to see that Paul Roper was no longer in the big chip zone - down to 40k or thereabouts and he was involved in a pot of about 20k with Stephen.

The board: 8s Qc  Aspades Kh  and Stephen moved all-in (also a bit shorter than I remember). And here came the chat, with no response:
"After you've lost the hand you'll still be alive."
"There's television here, you've got to entertain!"
"Give me the chips, he's folded."

A minute or so later, Paul did in fact fold, and I think I saw his hand as Ad Tc.  Stephen let him see his  Ahrt Jd...

In return for totally failing to identify several players on Joe Beevers' camera, he told me this big hand which gave a bunch of chips to Jon Wong -
Norman Walsh and he saw a flop of 5 J 5, and Norman decided to move in for a good large stack (50k?).
After a good deal of table pacing, Jon called with AJ - and found AQ against him!

It looks like these huge pots are placing three or four players far in front of the pack.

Here's German George (Danzer) - totally stoked at winning a set of blinds with a preflop raise.  Next to him is cool Norwegian Edgar Skjervold.

I'm about to depart Sunny Dublin, 9.15 plane home, thence to Brighton in the morning with Poker 425 for the big Brighton Final.

We got a few nice 425 Interviews this afternoon - Roy Brindley, Liam Flood, Micky Jones, Joe Beevers, etc. Paddy Power, the man himself, is lined up, & I have two in-depths interviews booked before I depart - Padraig Parkinson & Jesse May. fingers crossed!

The Notts Crew did well here, but Smithers & Chili are both a bit down - so near yet so far - though Rob Yong will carry the Notts flag proudly, & our very special mates Stuart Fox & Micky Wernick will do us proud, as will the several other blondeites still battling away.

I just wanna thank Jen & sloppy for once again bring us the very best of Live Updates - they are just THE best - with thanks also to Honorary Updater Dana (completely loopy), & Norkage Patrol by Colchester Kev.

And I'm still trying to figure out how  - or why? - I made that move last night with pocket sixes. I got the "Worst Played Hand, 2006" Award all sown up.

Hi guys, just back from surrealsville where I played an online comp that started at midnight and finished at noon the next day

Then took family out to lunch that seemed like supper, went to sleep at 3:pm but woke up again at 6.

For the older ones among you, I don't know whether I'm on this earth or fullers.

For the young ones, I'm all like, well, you know.

Great updates, so far this weekend I've fallen in love with the six ladies in black, kev's last norkage pic, and Dana  

I would imagine they would play to a final table, and then its live telly the morra night!

I holidayed in surrealsville last summer.  Dana and I saw a seven foot fibreglass prairie dog, a six-legged cow, a basket of rattlesnakes, a guy that collected animals he'd shot himself and bought a stuffed chicken in just one day.  Oh, sorry, that's the midwest of America.

Well, I have to say that Ian Woodley has probably come off the best out of this hour of 7-handedness - he has over 700,000, while the short stack is Sylvester Geoghan who surely can't pass many hands with his stack the way it is...  Off to gather round the rope again.

Yes a lot of good players went out on bad beats, you can shake your head and say "thats poker" but a lot of people are saying this is the ONLY game where someone can make an awful mistake and put out the world champion, something will need to change in tournaments. In a cash game if someone plays really bad and gets lucky, we dont care because we know its coming back.
