Title: Showbiz Poker
Post by: Indestructable on April 22, 2006, 11:17:02 AM
Anyone see this on Challenge TV last night? Absolutley awful poker but fun to watch. It was Michael Greco against 4 that looked as thought they had just had a ten minute lesson. I think they missed the lesson on raising, especially with quads or a full house. :D
Greco was giving them helpful advice like when he had the nuts he recommended players to call as it would only cost a small amount to call and there were good pot odds.
The best one was heads up between Greco and Christopher Biggins when an ace came on the river and the following conversation happened:
Greco " Have you got an Ace?"
Biggins " No"
Greco "I raise £2000 then"
Biggins "Fold"

Carlo Citrone's the studio expert isn't he? Have I got the right show?

Carlo mate, do you have no shame?  :D

I saw one episode earlier in the week (a friend of mine Michael Underwood the Kids TV presenter, who I got to know from small comps at Luton, played in it) and it was gruesome.

Yes Carlo is the main man and took a bit of friendly banter last night about his tan.

I just dont see any point in watching them - I watch poker for the challenge and to learn - and I dont get any of that from these programmes sadly....

Last night a celeb had
 3h 6c
Flop
 6s 3c  3d
Turn
 6h
River
 6d
So the hand went from full house 3's & 6's to full house 6's and 3's, to quads on the river. The other player just thought that the board would be the strongest hand and kept calling.  :D

Ok I admit I can't stop myself from watching the show, but last nights gave me a headache. There was a "celeb" that called after the river with four high.

The more bad-ass celebs playing bad-ass poker on TV the better.

Think about it.

Don't know if anyone saw last night's show, but have to give respect to Norman Pace. He has improved dramatically from previous shows i have seen him on and he beat Michael Greco heads up to win £5k and both go through to the final.

Norman is actually a most accomplished player, but not as good as his wife, who playes online under the alias "C-Bass" - she's no fish!

Norman went on to win the series and £25,000. His final hand against Michael Greco was
 Ac Jd
Against
 Qc Kh
The flop had a queen and a king and looking good fro Greco with 2 pair until the river
 Tc
Giving Norman a straight and a well deserved victory.
