Title: El Blondie's heat in British Poker Open 2006
Post by: El Yortle on April 27, 2006, 12:25:39 AM
This aired earlier tonight on The Poker Channel, complete with advert breaks in the middle of hands, and parts of the heat played out of sequence.

Did anyone else see it?

Worst Poker show i have ever seen. The sound and picture were stuttering and flickering which could i suppose just be my TV although I haven't had that problem on any other program. The ad breaks were mostly cutting in while the dealer was dealing the flop (including DC's bust out hand) and then it was on a different hand when the ads finished. It was as if they were trying to edit it as poorly as possible. And why ask top poker players dumb questions like what 3 things would they take to a desert island?

I was embarressed about the AT hand I played against Marcel but I'm far more embarressed that my GF has told everyone at her work to watch this POS production that can only possibly have been shown in this state to try to put people off watching poker in the future.

I am well aware that nobody is interested in the internet qualifier so I don't care that they only showed two of my hands but I was annoyed that they didn't bother to show my bust out hand when I was very interested to know what the commentators were going to say about Marcel's call of my all in with 97 IIRC for a third of his stack at least. But one minute I was playing and the next minute I had gone. I guess if they disrespect DC enough to pretty much do the same to him why should I be bothered?

Last year I thought the BPO was the best poker shown on TV all year, yeah it was just another short stacked 6 handed quick clock tourney but it was live and exciting and a new fresh way to show poker. Tonight's heap of crap was the exact opposite.

I don't know if Poker Heaven and The Poker Channel are the same company? But if they're not I think Poker Heaven should be asking for their money back. What a load of pants.

No mate it was the same on my tv too.   I caught the programme by chance just as the heads up was in progress and was keen to watch as I always like to watch the Devilfish in action.

However the sound and picture quality were just so bad that I couldn't watch it for any longer than a couple of minutes.

Not sure whether it was the picture quality or not but I thought Devilfish looked really unwell though?

Sound and picture quality was poor on my end too. I've set the repeat to record on Sky+, so will see if that is any better.

To be honest, the live audience (which I am a part of in the final) doesn't help at all. Last year's British Poker Open was far better in comparison.

That has got to go down as one of the worst shows I have seen, I watched till they had a break just before the flop and when they came back Dave was gone WHAT is that about.  By the way who won.

Marc Goodwin beat Devilfish heads-up. Remaining finishing order was Marcel Luske, Justin O'Shaughnessy, Carlo Citrone, El Blondie.

That sounds like a great line up, its a pity the show didnt do them justice.

Marc Goodwin is a great player isnt he.

If this was on 854, the problem is the channel pays bugger all for a cut price satellite feed which barely reaches our TV sets, thus the picture is blurry and you can't hear much

853 Pokerzone is far better
