Title: and another bloody thing Post by: TightEnd on April 29, 2006, 12:01:35 PM So there I was, just about to tuck into a hangover breakfast. Bacon sarnies. Not complete without some tomato ketchup methinks.
Into the cupboard, a quick shake and then......what the heck? THEY NOW SELL KETCHUP IN RED BOTTLES. How absurd, I'd run out, and I had no idea I'd run out Is this the worst marketing ploy in the world...? you piss your customers off and they have no idea when they need to buy more unless of course all prospective customers are expected to shake the contents of their tin cupboard prior to visiting the supermarket. So they don't buy more. They just buy 30 packs of KitKats and 12 packs of coke instead. Thus they miss out on sales, putting themselves (the marketing directors) at financial risk, missing budgets and potentially losing thier jobs and all for the sake of a red bottle. I give up. Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: KeithyB on April 29, 2006, 04:19:32 PM Dear Tighty,
Rule #17 of "kitchen cupboard inventory for beginners" clearly states that thou should keep a spare bottle of ketchup in there at all times!! ( or maybe that's what the cunning new packaging is trying to encourage you to do? ;) ) Works for me and I also apply same rule to salad cream and peanut butter!! Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: Ironside on April 29, 2006, 04:25:03 PM peanut butter!! crunchy !!!! i hope this goes well with bacon and HP Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: The Truth on April 29, 2006, 04:35:50 PM peanut butter!! crunchy !!!! i hope this goes well with bacon and HP Has to be smooth Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: KeithyB on April 29, 2006, 04:36:22 PM Has to be smooth for me I'm afraid Ironside, so that it spreads further and I use less! I like crunchy but don't like the way I can use up half the jar just by sticking my knife in there once. ;D Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: Ironside on April 29, 2006, 05:28:28 PM oh it has to be crunch although it costs more the crunch of the nuts along with the crunch of the bacon is an eadible orgasum

I fort u wuz edukated? Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: TightEnd on April 30, 2006, 09:48:24 PM Lets get a few things straight
I dislike HP, brown sauce etc. They are not an option. I knew i was out of ketchup but of course forgot before going to supermarket. I am a bloke. I do not make shopping lists. Shopping lists are for those with routines and well ordered lives My life is as well ordered as the contents of John Prescott's underpants Ketcup does not belong in the fridge. Its in thew cupboard above the fridge. Next to the family pack of kitkats, the three year old tin of sweet and sour sauce and the cup a soups. I hate marmite. That is to be the subject of another post Now then, please stop arguing with me. It's pointless Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: Royal Flush on April 30, 2006, 09:52:34 PM Am i alone on the fridge issue?
Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: Heid on April 30, 2006, 09:55:50 PM yes.
Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: Heid on April 30, 2006, 09:56:04 PM Marmite is wonderful.
Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: Ginger on April 30, 2006, 09:57:17 PM Am i alone on the fridge issue? No, once opened it should be kept in the fridge. Ketchup for bacon sarnies :D
Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: gatso on April 30, 2006, 10:03:16 PM Yesterday I found half a bottle of ketchup in my fridge. I have no idea how it got there as I hate the stuff and have never in my life bought any.
It is now in the bin which IMO is where all ketchup should be kept. Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: Heid on April 30, 2006, 10:15:27 PM Yesterday I found half a bottle of ketchup in my fridge. He's run out.... Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: TightEnd on April 30, 2006, 10:16:46 PM Ginger, darling (Flushie go away please) surely these days with the sealed bottles used for such condiments the need to keep Ketchup in the fridge is outdated?
I am glad you are a Ketchup on bacon sarnies girl but IMHO it needs to beat ambient temperature not chilled as this conflicts with the taste of the bacon. Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: Heid on April 30, 2006, 10:19:01 PM I still want you to eulogise about Marmite.
Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: Nem on April 30, 2006, 10:20:15 PM te of the bacon. Ginger, darling (Flushie go away please) surely these days with the sealed bottles used for such condiments the need to keep Ketchup in the fridge is outdated? What about Salad Cream, do you put that in the fridge after opening? Marmite is lovely... Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: Heid on April 30, 2006, 10:23:04 PM Mayonnaise, I would as it is eggs.. but salad cream is posh wallpaper paste .. it will be fine.
Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: TightEnd on April 30, 2006, 10:24:04 PM No personally as long as salad cream is in sealed bottle then ambient is fine
I can also understand fridgement. Kethcup though..Ambeint all the way. It's hardly likely to go off is it? Marmite is the PhillHellmuth of foodstuffs. You either love it or hate it Personally I hate it Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: gatso on April 30, 2006, 10:24:31 PM What about Salad Cream, do you put that in the fridge after opening? Good question I've just checked in my fridge and found a bottle of salad cream I'd forgotten about tucked away at the back. Now, reading the label it appears you should refrigerate after opening and then consume within 1 month. Is this just a suggestion or are they serious? It looks fine to me but I don't really want to eat it if it's poisonous Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: gatso on April 30, 2006, 10:26:01 PM whereas my HP sauce just says store in a cool place and use by nov 2007

I was exposed as a child and it changed my dna structure, so now I need it.
KFC does the same thing, every 3 months, I HAVE to have a KFC. Gatso.. live a little, they only say that so you buy more. Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: TightEnd on April 30, 2006, 10:27:39 PM Eaat the salad cream you jessie

Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: TightEnd on April 30, 2006, 10:35:46 PM My last phone call with NHS direct, a Sunday afternoon 5pm
" I have an eight year old who has just trod in a wasps nest. He has 30 stings" "Oh that sounds nasty" "Yes, I have applied anti histamine cream but there are a lot of stings, he is feeling faint. Should I take him to casualty?" "Hold on" Cue Music. Wham: Club Tropicana two minutes later "Find a chemist and buy this anti histamine" "I have already done that and there are no chemists open here at 5pm on a Sunday" "Oh" "Casualty?" "Well why not!" thanks!!!! Title: Re: and another bloody thing Post by: londonpokergirl on April 30, 2006, 10:38:21 PM aah should have just gone to casulty

They got Hammersmith hospital to pump me full of Heparin (anti coagullant) and kept me in hosp. for 3 days over a ripped calf muscle. The calf muscle couldn't clot so it bled into my leg for a week. Result: 4 weeks on crutches 6 weeks of physio 8 weeks off work |
