Title: walsall last night Post by: dan on July 24, 2005, 09:19:40 AM i went to walsall last night and before i say anything else unfortunatley im not going back today :( :(. on the bright side i met a couple of blondities there. firstly i met red dog. i had a brief chat with him as the tournament was just about to start.how did you get on red dog i had a look to see how you were doing but your seat was empty, i didnt know if you had been moved or had been knocked out. then i met junior. i was moved to his table. i was in the BB with KK and there were a few limpers so i raised and got re raised by junior who was in first postion. i expected the worst as i pushed the rest of my chips in but if im honest although i knew there was a good chance that he was on AA i wasnt and probably am not good enough to get away from KK pre flop. the flop wouldnt of saved me either as it came down 10 high.that was me down to the felt then junior had what chips i had left shortly after that.
it was a pleasure to meet them both and good luck to them if they are still in the tournament today Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: GiGi on July 24, 2005, 11:53:10 AM does anyone know who the chip leader is and what the chip counts are?
Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: Junior Senior on July 24, 2005, 12:01:27 PM yeah,
nice to meet you Dan. - just unlucky to have KK run into AA, and your right - do you really want to be the sort of player who folds KK pre-flop?! - thats just boring! I would have done the same and if matey boy (me) has limped with AA then its just unlucky. I am setting off back there in a bit. There are 19 left. Chip average is 24K, I have 33K but lost a 32K pot to Greek Jack right before the end - and yes, i did have the best of it but Jack's just lucky - pah!! :-( Chip leader has about 60K but it is quite evenly spread. Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: ifm on July 24, 2005, 12:22:56 PM Chipleader is Lee Evans (big ginge) with i think he said 54k, from my quick calcs average for the final will be 48k so he reckons he's gonna sit on his hands for a bit!!
Good luck all, Ian Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: dan on July 24, 2005, 12:36:10 PM good luck today junior let us know how you get on
Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: tikay on July 24, 2005, 12:54:08 PM Yeah, Good Luck Junior, Greek Jack (he is some chip getter, eh?) & all the others.
Good to see Notts well represented. I fear Red-Dog had a big accident, early doors. Details awaited. Has Ariston been giving lessons? :D Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: M POWER on July 24, 2005, 06:08:44 PM Any one know what's the start time?
and also good luck to Greg Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: Junior Senior on July 24, 2005, 06:55:55 PM ok, home now!
finished 12th in a pot so big that it brought tears to every players eyes (apart from the guy that won it!) - well i wasn't gonna dwindle away and die slowly now was I. I went back to walsall today with 18 0thers after i ran 5k yesterday up to 50K in half an hour then went back today with 33k and ran that up to 80k in 2 hours. Got busted when a guy slow played aces in the blinds (we were 1st and 2nd in chips) and i caught top 2 pair in the BB. All the money went in and the board paired 3's to give him the pot (Aces & 3's) over my flopped Kings and 8's - he was a huge favourite preflop but let me catch up for free. All the money went in when i had him hugely dominated. That pot was 175k (564k in play - thats nearly a third of total chips, talk about creating a monster!) - with 12 players left! - wow!! its the 2nd time i have been to this comp (300 freeze) and its an excellent comp - well run and you get 6k in chip to start and a 45 minute clock, dealers and a buffet. - excellent!! - a good model for all poker comps in the future! - proper poker can be played and skill usually prevails throughout the 2 days. the only downside is the prize structure (you really have to finish in the top 3 or its not worth getting out of bed) - IMO. About time this was changed and a uniform flatter structure brought in - blah blah blah, hobby horse soap box. Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: Karabiner on July 24, 2005, 07:02:39 PM Unlucky Greg.
And I certainly agree with you about the payout structure in Walsall. It's terribly top-heavy, but a very well-run room with pretty good tourney structures. Maybe see you tonight in Nottm. I hear they have dealers ! ;) Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: riverdave on July 24, 2005, 07:03:34 PM Myself and Red Dog were on the same table last night, both early casualties although I did manage to last a couple of levels before putting someone on AK by their huge overbet and of course being slightly perturbed to see KK!
Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: stewart on July 24, 2005, 07:15:11 PM i mistake i have made myself, afterwards tellin myself dont bet into the flopped nutz, lol you carnt bluff a guy who has 0% chance of loseing pah lol
Title: Re: walsall last night Post by: tikay on July 24, 2005, 08:25:12 PM Nice stuff guys, & tough one Greg, but the flop you exited on was sure to end in tears for one of you. Now, of ONLY we could get thst nice Card Room Manager to modify the payout structure there, (IT'S OUR MONEY!)making what is an otherwise perfect venue & comp even, err, perfecter...... |
