I've been playing on there since it opened, had an enforced absence of about 6 months and it's still just as bad connection wise, shame really cuz i love the site

Ah, THAT UK Open. Makes more sense now.

How much are the sponsors adding to the Prize Pool?

Do many tourneys have money added?

No. Sponsors have been "sponsoring" tourneys but not actually giving the players anything. Bizarre!

At the Gutshot a month or two back, Wm Hill actually added 5k of "real money" to the Prize Pool - some of which I took home, hehe.....

And in the recently announced Wm Hill Grand Prix, they are adding over 100k of real money to the Prize Pool.

If any other Sponsors actually add money, or "tangible benefit", we will sing their praises on blonde, be assured.

Bklue Square.com, who sponsor the Grosvenor Fstivals, add various things, including Bubble Envelopes, (free entry into a $2k SNG) of which I am the proud possessor of 3 already.....!

I take it the casino and/or TV company are doing very nicely from it then.

Anyone know what either of these make from a festival week?

I believe Harrah's are doing quite nicely too.

One of the strangest things I have come across in poker is that'Sponsoring' an event does not mean that at all. As Barry Hearn says in the latest Cardplayer interview. 'Poker is a sport where the players put up the prize money, I had to get involved'

The main selling point I have to the (spam alert) William Hill Poker Grand Prix is that we are adding over 100k to the event. This is sponsorship, It will not be made up from the online sats, it is a direct addition to the prize pool and I am sure that William Hill will continue adding money to events that we sponsor, As Tikay pointed out we will be two from two on this.

Poker is  sport we all love, lets hope that in future more money is added to events.

To be fair Pacific have loads of guaranteed prize funds that they have to top up.

I qualified for their $1m tourney in March & there were "only" 1600 odd players at $440 a throw (including juice) so they made up about $300k by my calculations.

I have to say, I think Wm Hill are doing things the right way with Poker. I do wish them luck. Unfortunately I rarely play the site because of all those damn password prompts. To make matters worse, because of the way that the site is set up, it is also the only poker site that I am aware of that can not accept Norton Password Manager. (for those that are not aware, it is a program that remembers all of your passwords, you only need one very secure password to log in to the program) As a consequence, I have to look in my hidden book of passwords! Too much of a pain in the behind. I actually spoke to a few other people about this last week and two of the three do not play for the exact same reason. I understand the security implications, it is the same for every site though. I am certainly not aware of any major security problems at Full Tilt, PokerStars, Ultimate Bet or Party Poker (the sites i play for at least 5 hours combined, per day). Of course that does mean that a problem does not exist.
I do hope that this is reviewed as I enjoy the site and the graphics.
Back to the thread, I would like a go at this, having had a taster of TV poker, I want more of it!
