Title: Vegas Virgin
Post by: chrisbruce on May 01, 2006, 04:38:22 PM
I am going to Vaegas for the fist time in July and would appreciate any tips.

Also What is ITIN ? do I have to pay tax to Uncle Sam on any poker winnings?

I want to take my golf clubs, is this a good idea ? too hot in July?

I should be staying at the Monte Carlos courtesy of Pokerstars.

Too hot in July, unless you want to be out at 6am!

ITIN is a way of getting tax back on winnings, google search it for how to go about getting a number - you may not have time to get it before you go however. You can claim it back, or they may not even charge you - different places do things differently - I've known people pay it and other's waived i dependant on where they were. I know people on here have had differing experiences.

Monte Carlo is nice central location.

What kinda tips were you after?

ITIN is an international tax identification number. Essential if you play any WSOP events or Caesers Palace. Any wins over $600 are subject to witholding tax (30%!) otherwise.

A lot of cardrooms pay wins in chips instead to bypass the ITIN rule.

MGM, Plaza , Golden Nugget Binions were all ok on this more sensible option.

July is too hot for much outdoors unless you go for a dawn round of golf.

Enjoy it...
