Title: Help needed from Glasgow blonde, I'm going nuts. Post by: thetank on May 04, 2006, 04:01:13 PM Trying to print out a poster to go up in Cincinnatis for the 3rd June heads up comp.
Printer problems galore, it doesn't believe I've got a colour cartridge and prints a'thing all higgildy piggildy. Me throwing it against a wall on attempt 17 couldn't have helped matters. Anyone have a colour printer able to print out a file for me. It's for charidee and my sanity. Get in touch if you can be of assistance and I'll e-mail the file over to you, then buy you lots of pints. Title: Re: Help needed from Glasgow blonde, I'm going nuts. Save the pic as a .jpg or as a .doc (if your programme will save that type). I can't open what you sent. Title: Re: Help needed from Glasgow blonde, I'm going nuts. Post by: thetank on May 04, 2006, 05:01:22 PM Erm, it's been on the screen where it says attaching file for about 10 minutes now.
Screw it. I've got a plan, I'll use a reprographics place tomorrow. Oooh they could probably laminate for me. I'll find one that likes my .wps format. (The only thing I seem to be able to e-mail) Thanks for the offer Rod, it just seems I'm incapable of transferring the file. A wps file is the default file extension for another Microsoft product, Microsoft Works. Microsoft Works is what Microsoft packaged with many home computers in the mid to late 90's. If you have Word 2000, you should have no problem opening this file. The first thing you need to do is start Word 2000, then click on open. Users who are used to double-clicking on a file to open it need to do it in this fashion so Word 2000 recognizes that is not a Word 2000 file. If you still have difficulty opening the file, you can download a patch that will fix this problem so that wps file will open with no problem. You can down the Microsoft Word wps patch in the downloads section. This problem is more apparent in Word 97 than it is in Word 2000. Q. What if someone is not able to install the patch, or has not yet downloaded it? If you want to be prepared for someone who does not have the patch there is a simple solution. When working in Microsoft Works and you want to save your file, you need to save it in a different file format that Microsoft Word understands. When you select "save as..." from the file menu a window will pop up and show you where you can save your files. You need to save the document as an ".rtf" file. RTF stands for Rich Text Format. An rtf file can easily be asscoiated between Word and Works regardless of versions. Sandy |
