Tikay a snake in the grass for reporting deals being made??? No I don't think so. These things need reporting because players won't or don't do it themselves. But how about PIE. Who polices them and their rankings that are now sponsored. Not too long ago an Event had to be running the previous year to be called a Ranking Event. Then lo and behold along come 2 in the same month that no-one knew about being run never mind being a ranking event only a few short months ago. No disrespect to the casino's involved but surely they cannot have ranking events yet. Surely criteria cannot be changed because the person in charge wants to change it. Surely the so called integrity of the rankings is now called into question after they accused players and card room managers of a certain lack of it. At the start of the year all the rankings events should be known. That way players who are interested in playing in ranking events, know where and when they are. New events should not be pushed in wherever they can at a months notice. Now instead of having a week or two spare for a relaxing holiday, people will be forced (If they want ranking points) into playing at an unheard of( IN card room terms) venue, where they may have poorly experienced staff dealing and making mistakes. I'm not saying that nowhere makes mistakes. But surely new venues will make more, and as per usual the poor suffering poker player may have to pay the price for the mistake unlike the member of staff. surely ALL live poker is to be embraced,as only a short while ago grosvenor and stanley closed cardrooms in this city/uk due to lack of foresight. hopefully the full schedule will be confirmed tonite, inc levels, and will update all on wed. any blondes confirmed to play?? Title: Re: Newcastle Festival 28/31 July Post by: Karabiner on July 26, 2005, 02:41:10 PM Are house dealers supplied for all of the events ?
I seem to remember Tikay going up for the monthly 100 tourney which I believe was self-dealt. both thurs/fri will run to the normal schedule BUT will be closely monitored to reflect runners to give a fair crack dependant on turnout v pro-active mgt . so 4000 chips 2x 45 min levels at 25/50 50/100 then last 15 mins at same plus last 3 hands=110 mins approx. post rebuy 100/200 on a 20 min clock. hope this helps. cya all soon. Title: Re: Newcastle Festival 28/31 July Post by: Ironside on July 26, 2005, 06:47:02 PM is this a stanleys comp?
what i can say about stanleys is there staff are very friendly and willing to learn but are very inexperianced and need alot of practice before i would let them loose on a ranking event also did i hear the emention of stairs? hope they have a lift i doubt if i would be going though as i wouldn't be able to book till last minute making it expensive for flights and too far to drive Title: Re: Newcastle Festival 28/31 July Post by: portfolio on July 26, 2005, 07:26:57 PM yep stanleys do have a lift, and we have two wheelchair users who grace our poker room.
ditto the grosvenor btw for future use. Title: Re: Newcastle Festival 28/31 July Post by: RED-DOG on July 26, 2005, 07:50:25 PM news just in both thurs/fri will run to the normal schedule BUT will be closely monitored to reflect runners to give a fair crack dependant on turnout v pro-active mgt . so 2000 chips 2x 45 min levels at 25/50 50/100 then last 15 mins at same plus last 3 hands=110 mins approx. post rebuy 100/200 on a 25 min clock. hope this helps. cya all soon. Well I'm not sure what "closely monitored to reflect runners to give a fair crack dependant on turnout" means I think these things shoud be decided beforehand, its a 400 mile round trip for me plus 3/4 nights in a hotel I think I'm entitled to know what im gettin, or If changes are to be made, what those changes are likley to be. IMHO, as ranking events the 100 rebuys should be 2x45 min at 25/50, 50/100 then 30 min throughout, and the 500 should be 45 min or 1 hour throughout If it is changed on the day, or worse, mid comp, it will no doubt upset some players and please others. I am very grateful for all your help Tom Title: Re: Newcastle Festival 28/31 July Post by: Gamblor21 on July 27, 2005, 03:58:59 AM As there one day events they want results not just chip count! 'pro-active' means that the clock may be extended not shortened and to provide a better game for the players... james browning is helping the management out alot with the structures etc so i expacet player friendly comps!
500 event seems very good and the 100 comps run very well... think they'll be worth the trip up red-dog! dealers are being sent over from manchester, so should be experienced! camel was spotted scouting out the venue tonight! He was scouting his prey already! hope to see you all this week Ian Title: Re: Newcastle Festival 28/31 July Post by: RED-DOG on July 27, 2005, 04:26:33 AM Please dont think I was criticising, i wasnt, but I did play in a comp earlier this year where the levels were shortend half way through
Feel better now you've told me what 'pro-active' means though ;D Title: Re: Newcastle Festival 28/31 July Post by: Gamblor21 on July 27, 2005, 10:35:06 AM i did'nt think u were criticising red-dog, and if u were i'm not a local anyway! i agree that the events should have aslong a clock as possible! the management seem quite interested in the poker and are hoping to make poker work, so they will listen to the players to try and make it a success!
