Title: O/T PC Question
Post by: bundle on May 06, 2006, 07:39:07 PM
Bringing my PC from the USA

Does anyone know if there is a switch on a PC that can change it from 110 volt to 240 volt?

If not would I have to buy a new power supply for my computer or can I buy some kind of adapter?

Cheers

I've just had a look at a spare Power Supply that I have... there is no 110/240 switch on it.

Replacement power supplies are cheap enough and pretty easy to change.

Thanks guys

I think i will go with the 750 watts converter. I will plug everything into my USA surge protector then plug the surge protector into the adapter...does that sound right?

What PC do you have?

There is normally a switch located on the PSU (Power Supply Unit) to change between 110 and 240v - all you'll need then is a new lead which is cheap as chips.

The PSU is where the plug goes into the PC so is easy to find.

If there is not a switch your PSU may be autosensing, or if not you can replace one very cheaply. (Please don't plug it in to find out if it's autosesning!!)
