Title: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge
Post by: Pontecarlo on July 25, 2005, 06:48:17 PM
tikay - as you know i am new to blonde but very active on the betfair forum and tables(Mandylou)- we are always having challenges amongst each other and have noticed you have similar - i know you are trying to get another blonde forum game going
what about the following    Betfair forum V Blonde forum challenge
100 entry on b fair tables (private MTT) payout for 1st ten as per crypto rules , so its a 5K gauranteed - to take place in the next couple of weeks at time mutually conveinient - you pick the blonde team and i will do the betfair one - obviously some players are on both so they choose who to represent, points are 50 for winner  down to 1pt for 50th , team with most wins the challenge and bragging rights of the best forum ??? - what do you think

hmm interestin, although at 100 its a bit on the high side to be considered a friendly sorta game unlike our already legendary 20 Blonde comp althougha  few of the senior blondites should go for this

Post by: AdamM on July 25, 2005, 06:57:43 PM
agreed, 100 isn't gonna get your best Blondites, it's going to get the richest. a more affordable stake would make it a more friendly challenge match. 100 is only ever going to be a grudge match.

You could only win braging rights as the best forum players, this would still be the best forum

i agree with splash it would be fun, but how would you pick who is in the team. i think it would be unfair on blonde members if they could not play in the next tourney. i finished third in the last blonde tourney but looking at the list of blonde members i would certianly not put myself amongst the best so would that mean that i missed out. the last tourney was good fun and at a price everyone could afford. 100 is not that over the top but like adam said it would just attract the richest members

I'd love to have a crack at this, but wouldn't be selected.

Now then, where are those "interesting" photos of Tikay I've been saving for that special occasion?...... :D :o

not at all bluewolf - all forums in my opinion should be democratic - but being new to here he seems to be the one who is the most likely to get things sorted

Jimmy'll play (if he gets selected)

And um, scary picture Mandy  :o

I would certainly be up for it as well but would suggest a neutral site to play on. How about Full Tilt? Or Ultimate Bet? I think Betfair is a crypto site, and that was where the last one was.

I heard the Betfair poker forum struggled to beat the chit-chatters, and only did so with an outdraw  ;D :D ;D

Would fancy giving the betfair inflated egos a knock. Although they are scandalously lucky especially mandylou, i was heads up with her on the 15k.... got her all in with the worst hand 5 times and she won every time!!!!! and then finished me off with a pair of two's. grrrrr ??? ::)

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge

Well, what's all THIS?

Give me a couple of days if you want or need my input lads.

But for now...

The next Crypto Blonde Tourney - 20 entry, no juice - will probably be the week after the Luton Festival. Details are almost finalised, and we've had the begging bowl out. We have not got as much "added money" as last time, but we do have some, & it will be juice free again, & there will probably  be a bounty again.

A 100 Forum challenge? My initial reaction is that for the vast majority of our Members, 100 is too much, or "above the comfort level", at which peeps can lose & still smile. I'm not saying NO, just that's my first reaction.

$20 HU challenge can be met though tony

if the "team" selected by the forumites cannot afford the $20 i would be willing to supply the 8 buy ins of $160

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge
Post by: tikay on July 26, 2005, 10:02:31 PM

$20 is fine, it's 100 that troubled me.

Any ideas how the team would be selected? You are not seriously suggesting I should pick the team? Forget THAT!

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge
Post by: Ironside on July 26, 2005, 10:02:50 PM
btw as its only bet fair i am thinking that our B team would be good enough

including harry d,el blondie,djinn,old blondie,wsopin06,the camel,carlo,at it bradley,junior and yoyo

then again we could put out the c or d team and still win

ace - you sound bitter mate - chill
blue - yes mandylou is a pokername used by me
whatever you guys fancy - just thought it would be a laugh for a forum challenge - 50 if you fancy - or when you have your forum game invite X number of b fair to play - say 20 and name your 20 to count for points if you fancy that

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge
Post by: Ironside on July 27, 2005, 12:34:42 AM
anyone from betfair that wants to play here just needs to register

as for team poker the only way it should be done is via heads up

and i wont support any over form of poker as it encourages cheating

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge
Post by: Pontecarlo on July 27, 2005, 12:36:43 AM
bit strong ironside- who is going to cheat for bragging rights when cash is at stake

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge

just look at the farce of the world team championships turn into

i hate any form of colluding on a table and teaming means cheating

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge

are you speaking for blonde or accussing b fair?

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge
Post by: Ironside on July 27, 2005, 12:44:56 AM
no i am saying i personally wont support any "team" tourny that encourages team play

ie dumping of chips or soft playing team mates

if the event was HU then i would be fine with it

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge
Post by: Pontecarlo on July 27, 2005, 12:52:13 AM
to be fair ironside - the w,series team play is a bit different from an inter forum 20 challenge - however if b fair players integrity is in doubt , then probably better to forget the idea , was just a thought to have a bit of laugh thats all

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge
Post by: Ironside on July 27, 2005, 12:55:37 AM
i am always up for a laugh but i am against "team playing" in poker there is nothing wrong with an inter forum challenge done heads up this is how the inter casino games are played

and this is my personal view not that of blondepoker

I have to agree with Ironside here.

If you guys want bragging rights, play the next Blondepoker tourney.

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge

as i have said karibiner forget it - couldent really sell it to the betfair guys if we are going to be accumed of colussion /chip dumping which is basically cheating
thanx to all those that responded in a more positive fashion anyway

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge

I knew it would end in tears, Ideas like this are all sounded out with the best of intentions, but they invariably end in "toy's being thrown out of the pram" .  Personally I agree with both Ironside and Karabiner ... play the Blonde tourny and should a betfair man be victorious he will have total bragging rights ... well at least until the next tourny.

Lets not fall out over an event that hasnt even happened yet, I come on here because it is a friendly and sociable place to pass some time inbetween spunking my money on-line ... lets keep it that way.

noone has accused the betfair boys of cheating Ponte, ironsides point was in relation to the team poker comp a while back that was mared by players soft playing against team members and a few other incidents. Are you truly sayin that if it was 2 blonde players and a1 betfair player left in the comp there would be no same village play???  Not that anyone here condone sthat sorta behaviour at all and i'm sure its the same on betfair but if it was just a laugh in regard to bragging rights or whatever it would happen. The only true way to play any team event would Heads up, you could go through a whole 40 player MTT with only 1 player being knocked out by a rival team and that proves nothing really does it? Don't take it so much to heart

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge
Post by: Pontecarlo on July 27, 2005, 01:31:19 AM
i can honestly say bluewolf , if i am down to the last 3 in any comp , i want 1st place and the most cash - i would bluff, bully, trap and any other method i can think of in acheiving that , even if my mother and granny were the other 2 players

I dont think forums should be about "us" and "them" what starts whith the best intentions often ends with bad feeling

IMHO it would be a minefield

But surely if everyone knows its a team event it could be good craic.  A site I play on had a UK vs USA vs Rest of world series.  1 heads up series then 2 tournaments in which team play and collusion was allowed.  Made for some very interesting tactics, specially when you got 4 UK players vs 1 US at final table.  As i say was a good laugh and brought up some interesting tactical discussions.  Nothing more than a good laiugh and all knew what they were into.

UK won of course...

If this goes ahead, and is Successful, we coyuld then have a Scotland v England tourney!

Obviously Irish would be with the Scots, and RFC would be with the English.

I think I fall on the side of poker not being a team sport. the only exception is HU team. but even that is a collection of individuals.
My feeling is that Blonde forum should politely decline this challenge and remind everyone that we have a friendly forum tourney coming up that all members can play.

totally agree with adam. the last blonde tourney was fantastic and i think i am right in saying that is was enjoyed by everyone. there was no bitching no moaning about badbeats and it was really well organised with the bounty, added money and juice free so why change it

Sounds like Mandy's idea isn't going to kick off, not sure the collusion comments were meant directly at us Mandy just an in-general comment about team tourneys. I think in all honesty this wouldn't happen in the event, we'd all individually be playing to win. A disparity in play may arise from our notes I guess though - there'd be some Betfair players I'd be wanting to get involved in pots with and others not!

Not personally against a heads-up challenge of the same type but having not played many of these 100 would be way too much! Meanwhile looking forward to the next blonde tourney :)

Title: Re: Calling Tikay - re forum challenge

dont think blonde forum would play for 100 a man 20 seems a reasonable price as 100 is a huge chunk of some of our bankrolls
