Title: PARIS WPT - SECOND DAY ONE - LIVE UPDATE
Post by: tikay on July 26, 2005, 12:50:08 PM

OK, this is where Tuesday's action will be. Do please try & join us.

Today, we will be seeing an interesting & impressive line up, including........

Dave Colclough, a Paris course & Distance winner.

Brian Wilson, sporting his Bracelet, & determined to ruffle French feathers.

Suruinder Sunar, last year's winner

Howard Lederer, An American In Paris?

Carlo Citrone, King of the Dwells, with a career as a Chippendale awaiting him

Willie Tann - another Bracelwet winner from this year's WSOP

Andy Black, fresh from his WSOP Final Table

Barny Boatman, the 3rd of The Mobsters in this year's renewal - Joe is still on Honeymoon.

Simon Trumper, he'll be fired up, after his Vegas controversy

Pascal Perrault, he's French.

Roy Brindley, The Boy.

David Benyamine

Freddy Deeb

Stuart Nash

Toby Maguire, of Spiderman. (Web Report available)

Rob Hollink

Peter Roche - watch out for Peter, he'll want to match Andy Black's recent heroics

Devilfish

John Gale

Tony G - last year's runner up. Heaven help us if he gets on same table as Brian Wilson. Brian makes Tony look positively subdued!

Carlos Mortensen

Mads Anderson

Tony Bloom

Martin De Knijff

Bambos.

Is that a list of runners, or WHAT?

Action begins at 4pm Paris - that's 3pm England, I think.

We are all set up, & ready to roll, or we will be when Jen eventually gets outa bed. She worked her socks off again yesterday. We owe her our thanks.

Three answers in one here, soooo busy.

Food. Terrible. A lot of French muck, too. We had Chinese last night, in a resataurant where they had a glass floor, above a huge, restaurant size, fish tank, with fish & even tortoises swimming about in it. Surreal.

Eurostar Train Journey. Be careful what you wish for - was on SEVEN different trains yesterday. Details - FULL details - to follow.......

Yoyo? What, he of the 0 from 2 WSOP cashes? Nah, he's  at home, licking his wounds. But he offered to buy a bit of me for today, what a top bloke. But the bit he wanted is spoken for, if you get my drift.

We just had a cuppa tea with Harry D & Martin De Knijff, then another with Barney Boatman & John Gale. And I'm sat next to Rob Hollink, as I write. So, I ask them all, have YOU got a 100% cashing record in WSOP's played? Hehe, that stops them in their tracks.

Jen dragged herself oit of bed, bless her.

Willie Tann just arrived & said Hi, as did Roy Brindley. Devilfish too. Gonna be SOME day today.

Hi Tikay,

Are u surprised by the lack of runners? Is the the lowest ever for a WPT event? I was intending on going myself but am just all pokered out after the WSOP - is this the reason? If so, how are Victor Chandler, London Open and the Vic Club doing, any idea on fields, I was intending on playing the Vic but not with 120 runners......

Tony, I can thoroughly recommend a great restaurant

www.restaurantfloradanica.com

on the Avenue des Champs Elysses

French-Danish!

especially if your expenses account is in operation!

Post by: Robert HM on July 26, 2005, 02:22:32 PM
There may not be many runners but it looks quality.

Title: Re: PARIS WPT - SECOND DAY ONE - LIVE UPDATE
Post by: tikay on July 26, 2005, 02:30:53 PM

French-Danish Food? - you jest. Stick that.

Expense Accolunt? I wish.

Lack of runners, Rob? Shocked, really shocked. A WPT with 150 runners? Never been known, & don't know what to make of it. But the WPT won't let it happen again, it would devalue "the Brand". Barny says there will NEVER be a better chance to win a WPT.

But Robert is right, PLENTY of quality.

Carlo just arrived - he's left all his clothes at home! Good job he's not the sort of guy who worries about how he looks, then......

We have just posted the closing chip counts from the first Day One on yesterdays Day One thread. If that makes sense.

Frank Callaghan is chip leader. Wrinklies Rule, eh? So hope for me yet, once I reach that stage, of course.....

Now, GO AWAY, I still aint writen yesterday's Diary, I'm like the fat lady, all behind.

Oh come on! We aren't going anywhere; you set yourself such high standards of reporting and kept them up. We readers, whilst grateful, have become to expect continued excellence. I think it kicks off in about 20 mins or so, so looking forward to seat and table numbers along with Parisien fashion tips.

yes, come on tikay no slacking. How is the Jean-Paul Gaultier bleached blonde look going down on the poker catwalks of Paris this week?

Title: Re: PARIS WPT - SECOND DAY ONE - LIVE UPDATE
Post by: tikay on July 26, 2005, 03:13:19 PM

OK, the Diary is written - VERY late. It will be up on www.poker425 in the next half hour or so I guess. Rather embarrassing - and painful - end to the day yesterday as it happens. But that's another story.

Play has not begun here yet, but they are starting to take their seats. Soon as they do, we will get the interesting tables & seats, see who has been pitched against who. Really a much more "lively" bunch of players today than yesterday. Not better, just a lot more of them, more "names" it seems.

Jen is poised, she's just finishing a Profile of Brian Wilson. THAT should make a good read.

How's the blonde look going down in Paris? OK I think. A lot of Frenchmren looking at me in a sort of pervy way, for sure.

Morning all - I have managed to 'get out of bed' and in fact if I'd known this kind of stuff was being said would have posted earlier...:)

They are a little slower off the mark today, and are only just settling down in their assigned seats which have been assigned with the following shock draw:

Dave Colclough, Brian Wilson, Martin de Knijff, Roy the Boy are all on the same table.  Mercy.

And just like yesterday, they've started with not a whisper.  They applauded every day of every event in Vegas; it actually makes a nice change, although tough on reporting accuracy.  HELLO AND WELCOME TO DAY 1, 2.

Just saw Surinder Sunar, defending champ, going into one of the rooms - he asked a tournament lady who the chip leader of day 1 1 was.  She said "Francois Callaghan.  92,000."

Rob Hollink and Devilfish clash early over a sizeable pot on an  A J x x x board with four hearts on it.  Rob (whose hand wasn't shown) raised Devilfish on the end, who eventually passed showing a heartless AJ.

Someone, as yet nameless, is down to the felt after five minutes with a surprise all-in (trips versus a full house).  Today might be quite exciting.

Plenty action on the Colclough/Wilson/Brindley table, but NOT involving them. Dave just slipped us a note with some interesting action - Jen's posting it right now.

Lucky that blonde have DC on hand, notes from the players themselves at a WPT Table, you don't get that on many sites!

Some heat on the Trumper/Black table, something about showing hands at the showdown. We will get the lowdown at the break. Heat on the Willie Tann table too. Everybody seems to be tetchy today.

And Carlo just nipped me for 20 Euros - looks like he left his money at homre, as well as his clothes.

Post by: Djinn on July 26, 2005, 04:06:14 PM
Straight from horse's mouth - this couple of stories come from Table 1 where El Blondie seems to be able to do our jobs as well as his!

"Russian ace Alexander Kuzmin tussles with Claude Cohen (previous French WPT finalist.  It appeared that Claude flopped a set of 4s against Alex's top pair of Aces and he lost 6000 chips to Claude.
The very next pot Alex flops his own set of 8s against Tobey Maguire's AK on an A 8 4 board.  Alex trap checks his way into getting his whole remaining 9000 in and doubles through off Spiderman caught in his Russian web...Tobey down to 6,000 while Alex at 18,000"

How good is this- real time hand reports from the players themselves.  So TightEnd no need to be there in person...

After I managed to be 16 hours late writing my "Day One Diary" the techs at www.poker425.com have excelled themselves & got it up on the site in 20 minutes flat.

But the baa-lambs have found and posted an old pic of me - THE worst pic you ever saw - & doctored it. Never try to get the better of a techy, eh?

PS - It was taken when I was younger. (Aint that the strangest question, when you show someone a pic, & they ask if it was "taken when you were younger?"... I mean, how many answers are possible to THAT?...)

Some early counts:

Simon Trumper  12,100
Andy Black        15,300
Woody Deck      14,850 (you may know him as the ultra agressive young US cash player sometimes to be found loitering in Gutshot; has good name)
Barny Boatman   9,100
Willie Tann        16,600
Stuart Nash       21,000
Brian Wilson      14,150
Rob Hollink        19,700
Peter Roche      13,700
John Gale          17,200
Tony G             14,600
Bambos            14,300
Surinder           15,300
Jeff Lissandro    15,400
Chuc Hoang      25,000 (with whom Tikay shared a final in Deauville, which he won (CH not TK)

Post by: Djinn on July 26, 2005, 04:20:30 PM
I have located the GetMinted qualifier NabTheAce who is sat on Simon Trumper/ Andy Black's table.  He has 5,000 more than he did a minute ago, having flopped top set of 10s.  The board paired beneath the 10 on the turn, and his opponent bet 3000 (holding the trips).  He tried to raise to 5,000, was made to make it 6, and got a call.  The oddest check of the tournament came on the river when the other guy checked to him, however.... ("I felt sorry for him" said not-ruthless-enough Nabil)

Yes, Chuc Hoang, looks like a Chinese Gentleman, but he's French. He won the E500 at the Deauville EPT Festival, run all over me in the Final. He is THE nicest man you ever met. Bows when he talks to you. I think more of you should do that. Starting with the boy Thewy.

So by comparison these dry old chip counts aren't so interesting, but ah well going into first break-

Alexander Kuzmin   17,600
El Blondie              16,100
Simon Trumper      16,000
Andy Black            15,400
Woody Deck          12,900
Barny Boatman       5,000  (apparently lost quite a pot slowplaying aces - update - one of those AA vs KK hands, where Other Guy hit king)
Willie Tann            17,800
Stuart Nash           21,000
Brian Wilson           16,400
Rob Hollink            14,100

Bambos                13,200
Roy Brindley          15,000
Mike Magee           18,000
Abdul Assis            12,300
Alex Todd             18,000
Barry Shulman        14,600
Surinder Sunar       15,500
Jeff Lissandro         5,500
Howard Lederer     14,600
NabTheAce           23,000
Tobey Maguire       10,000 (having flopped a nut flush getting threeway action)

Hehe, REAL interactive, eh?

And the delayed Tony Bloom now saitting next to business partner Martin De Knijff - how spooky is that? They run a Sports Betting Syndicate, anyone can join if they ante up about 25k. They place bets on Premiership matches - HUGE bets, 6 figures regularly. They place the bets in the Far East, where I guess the market is a bit more liquid than in the UK. I mean, imagine trying to get 250,000 on Man Utd v Arsenal at Laddies....! "You can have 75 Sir....."

Players are on the first break of the day now, they have 15 mins after every level.

Dinner is after 3 levels, & they play 5 levels today in total.

Barny's slowplayed Aces? Well his oppo had KK, so I doubt it made any difference HOW he played them, all the chips were going in at some stage.

Martin de Knijff just took a hit raising preflop by about 3,000 only for someone to move all-in pretty quickly, for more than he had.  He folded in the end, waving his cards (I caught a glimpse of two pictures but couldn't tell you for sure which ones) and now has 9,050.

After the breaks, they do NOT announce that the game has restarted, so the players drift back in dribs and drabs.

On John Gale & Barny's table, there were TWO players present when the game began. First to act Raises, second to act - NOT in the blinds, looks ruefully at the Raiser, as if to say "I was gonna do that...."

For those not familiar with the Aviation Club......

There are two main areas, rooms, where the comps are played. Not very big, one has room for maybe 7 tables, the other about 5. Seperating them is a sort of wide corridor, in which there are 3 tables along one wall. This "corridor" is being used for cash games  right now. Weird, a WPT going on either side, & there's these French geezers playing cash between them, as if it were a regular day.

They have a Salon Prive at the other side of the Lounge too - maybe 50 yards away - where some seriously big cash action goes down.

Andy Black 18k.

Tony Bloom 14k

Martin De Knijff 10k.

Brian Wilson is behaving himself, sitting pretty quietly, as is Dave. I think they both held the view that play was a a bit "fast" yesterday.

Roy Brindley has 18k. He asked if we could give a plug for his site, www.roytheboy.net. No way, I said.

BRIAN WILSON OUT.

He clashed with the handsome young Russian in Seat 3. Board was 5-J-T-4-5. Rusky bets 4k on the end, Brian goes all-in for about 5k more, he clearly has the Russian on a bluff. On their backs, Brian shows J-8, for top pair & a missed flush draw, Mr Rusky has.....KK.

Damn.

Well, that was not the greatest but I went down fighting, im sure DC will ask 'what were you doing in the pot anyway'.

I did put him on a bluff, thought AQ/AK or smaller pair (maybe 99 or 88 w/ other outs), still have alot to learn, having fun and now I can get to London, may take mad marty up on that tv poker deal he keeps emailing me about.

Simon Trumper down to just 3200 after an unfortunate river vs. GetMinted qualifier NabTheAce.  Simon held AK vs. Nabil's 10 J.  On the flop of 10 J Q (two hearts) Simon bet with the nuts and was called.  The blank 4c brought a bet from Nab and an "I'll take it right now" raise to 8000 by Simon.  He was flat called again and when the pair came giving the 10 J the full house on the river, Nab went all-in immediately and Simon had no choice but to pass his AK, which he did face-up, leaving himself with just about 3000, but still in.  Not such a happy camper, but Mathilda there sharing every hand - good and bad.  She looks more upset than he does...

A GREAT comeback by Barny Boatman. After his AA v KK accident, he was actually down to 2,400, not 5k as I noted at the time.

But he's back to 13k now, dancing too. He just stole a little pot with a board of  Q-Q-T-T-A, I am SURE I saw him flash J-2 in my direction......

Earlier, he got involved in an odd one, he had AK with 1 diamond, Matey Boy had A-J. Flop came J high, with 3 diamonds, all the chips go in, Barny is in a hole. "Did the Diamond come Barny?", I asked, "no, the K" was his jaunty reply. He's a happy bunny now.

But Simon Trumper is OUT. Don't know what happened, but his seat is empty, & Mathilde is nowhere to be seen. Simon looked (to me) really down today, & that beat when he flopped the nuts musta felt like a dagger to the heart. He'll be back, he's a fighter.

Very interesting hand on the old Table 1 -

Threeway action between Roy Brindley (s.b.) Alex Kuzmin (b.b.) and Tobey Maguire (button).  When I came up to the table, the flop was out: 7h 4d 10c, and it looked like Alex had bet 700, called by Tobey on the button, and Roy was thinking - he raised 3000 after a few moments.  A much longer dwell from the Russian resulted in a Re-raise to a total of 7700!  Button Maguire decided he really wasn't that interested after all, but Roy Brindley flat called and moved in when the 3h came on the turn.  Almighty break-reaching think from Alex and he passed giving Roy a 16000 pot.

Interesting aside on this: there was talk as is usual about what everybody had, and apparently Roy's 10 4 pushed off Alex's 10 7, although we'll never know for sure.

What would have been even more interesting was that El Blondie passed a pair of threes and Tobey the 5 6 so if THEY had made it to the turn there would have been even  more fireworks.

On a break.

Czarlo - yeah, I just spoke to him, Sam must by a mindreader. He's OK, nice & quiet, not pulling up any roots, but he's here for the long game. We will follow him a bit closer after the break. I THINk he has about 13k or 14k. That's just fine. They began with 15k, by the way, & blinds are about to go to 100-200, so LOADS of time.

Why the small field?

2 possible reasons.

a. Closer to WSOP than 2004's?
b. The robbery last year might have put some off?

Lets hope the ACF doesn't lose the WPT event.

Post by: tikay on July 26, 2005, 07:07:04 PM

The game called Aviation? You get 4 cards, & discard one Pre-Flop. After the flop you discard another. Then it's normal Hold 'Em.

Carlo has 17k.

Will the WPT return to The Aviation? Well I hope so, because this is fun, but the low numbers - and Simon's likely correct reason - are a worry.

El Blondie passed me this note from the table........

Peter Roche OUT -

Against a young guy and holding AQ he bet the A K 3 flop and was called.  The turn brought the Q for his 2pair and he thought the guy was "a bit deranged" but didn't have 10 J so the last 6000 went all-in and his young opponent turned over AK to knock him out.  He seemed resigned but said he'd built up a tell library on his table which he now wouldn't get a chance to use.

Andy Black is in great heart, he's chatting away, sort of running his table. He has the biggest card-marker you ever saw. It's about 6" long, Jen says it looks a a bit like a whisk, but it's made of copper or brass. After being asked, Andy said it was some sort of buddhist symbol - it's THE heaviest object on earth". He just clashed with the Get-Minted Man, who has around 30k. (Andy has low twenties). Mr Minted has a huge, but ulnit cigar.

John Gale arrived at the same table, his table has broken, but John is down to about 5k. But he and Andy are laughing & joking, all very sociable.

Hi Ironside, we've missed you!

Bon soir Ironside!  Tikay sends his greetings too - as far as Padraig is concerned, not here.  Surprising, perhaps, but true.

John Gale has been moved to Andy Black's table two to his right.   They are chatting away and look rather relaxed.

The guy between them is an American named Steve Worr, and he just doubled up getting his all-in on a board of As 10s 5s Ah called by AQ when he held 10 10.  Don't know the doubler-up's name as yet.

More counts starting with the perilously low stacks:
Howard Lederer   2,600
Tony G               5,000
John Gale            5,000
Willie Tann          9,200
Stuart Nash        32,000
Dave Colclough    10,000
Andy Black          29,000
Tony Bloom        12,900
Martin De Knijff   16,200
Mike Magee        18,175
Surinder Sunar     16,500
Nabil Ayoubi         35,000
Steve Worr         25,000

Another big pot between Roy Brindley and Alexander Kuzmin.  Roy all-in, this time pre-flop for about 8,000 holding pocket Jacks. Alexander calls and the whole board comes out starting with a J, and then A K 8 3, doubling him up to around 17,000.

Howard Lederer appears to have busted out. He walked away from the table with a very forlorn look on his face. He is a big, BIG man, looks like a one-time NFL player.

Post by: tikay on July 26, 2005, 08:50:59 PM

I just popped outside for a breath of fresh air. The Aviation Club really is in a quite remarkable setting, on the Champs Elysses.

The pavement outside is a throng of people, lots of pretty girls & hungry guys. The pavement is maybe 30 yards wide, with 2 rows of trees, one in the middle, one by the road.  Another row of trees on the opposite pavement. The trees are all beautifully but symmetrically trimmed - I think that's called aboroculture, but I'm not sure. Slim trunks, branches don't start until a good way up, all exactly the same height.

The Champs Elysses itself is nine lanes wide, & is cobbled throighout. The cobbles are in a sort of radius/arc pattern. Plenty of traffic. The Arc De Triomphe - which is HUGE - is about 400 yards to the right. The Place de la Concorde is about 2 miles to the left, & the road between is arrow straight. Place de la Concorde must be the biggest roundabout in the world, Hyde Park Corner x 10, it's a fearful place to cross the road.

To the right, is the Seine, very wide, with boats fitted out as restaurants moored along the banks. Continue down past the Place de la Concorde & you eventually reach the Louvre, which I am told is a bit of an Art Gallery. That in itself must be half a mile long, it's a whopping size building.

It really is a beautiful city. No wonder they call it romantic, it's quite lovely. Oh to be young again, you could sweep a woman off her feet here, I daydreamed.....

Started to walk back in, & I bumped into a few players. "So the flop comes J-K-7 & the muppet bets.....". Back to realiity with a bang,eh?

There's always a bloody comedian ready to jump in with a quip, eh....?

It's a little sore, truth to tell, & I got a thumping headache.

Jim R gets the vote for the best post on this subject - I think he described me as "a pain in the glass".

Right, back to business, we are playing again here.

John Gale needs to find a hand, he's about 4k. Stuart Nash is about 37k, Devilfish 28k "going on 42k".

Mr Brindley is on a roll, he's just busted Martin De Knijff out, & is up to 32k.

Roy made it 600 pre-flop, Martin raised it up to 2k, Roy called. Flop was K-5-2, all hearts. Roy checks, Martin moves all-in, Roy beats him into the pot.

Martin turns over A-T, (A clubs T hearts), Roy has JJ. No change on the turn & River, & Mr De Knijff is OUT.

Brian Wilson (WSOPin06) wants to say Hi to all his friends (both of them?) who may have been watching. And to Mama Wilson, too. He says he eats his breakfast every day like a good boy.

He's drinking corona, which I assume to be an alchocolic concoction.

Willie Tann is with me, & he says "to all my mates, I'm sorry I let you down". Rubbish, he did nothing of the sort, some days the cards  don't fall. But he'll ALWAYS have a Bracelet!

Hi Tikay,
Up till today I was a virgin poster however I am now going to hit my hatrick, thanks for all the great updates, I had to let you know that corona is actually a soft drink where you get 3d back on the bottle.

cheers,
Dewi

Title: Re: PARIS WPT - SECOND DAY ONE - LIVE UPDATE
Post by: tikay on July 26, 2005, 10:26:07 PM
Thsanks Dewi, & welcome.

Ahh, I remember THAT Corona, a van used to come round each week, you could get Orange, Cherry or plain. 1/- a bottle (that's a shilling), & 3d deposit on the bottle.

Brian's Corona looked a bit stronger, though......

Saw Simon Trumper at the Dinner Break, he's just fine now. Mathilde's even finer, but she's still French.

Just patrolled the smaller of the 2 rooms - 3 tables going in their right now, & saw these.....

Mike Magee 22k

Rob Hollink 22k

Roy The Boy Brindley 30k

Dave Colclough 8k

Devilfish 17k

Surinder Sunar 13k

But here's a surprise......

Title: Re: PARIS WPT - SECOND DAY ONE - LIVE UPDATE

Stuart Nash 48k......!

Title: Re: PARIS WPT - SECOND DAY ONE - LIVE UPDATE

John Gale OUT, he had J bit v JQ on a J high flop. I really do like John, a perfect Gent.

Title: Re: PARIS WPT - SECOND DAY ONE - LIVE UPDATE
Post by: tikay on July 26, 2005, 10:41:42 PM

Andy Black 20k

Barny Boatman 9k

Tony G 4k

And I just saw a nasty little hand, two Americans I think. SB v mid-position on a board of 2-9-3-J-2. Mid position threw his AA away in disgust, while Mr BB proudly paraded his 2-5 off.....

But another nice surprise for you now.......

Title: Re: PARIS WPT - SECOND DAY ONE - LIVE UPDATE

Adfter seemingly snoozing all afternoon & evening, I noted Carlo Citrone has suddenly got a huge stack, with white chips (the 5k's) sitting on the top. 37k it seems, as a result of some daring play by the North East man - his oppo had KK, & guess what Carlo woke up with? Yup, the Aces.

This tourney is tailor made for Carlo, he can wait with the best of them, & he has the exprerience. He had a horror Final in Vegas, & is due a result. Good Luck Carlo!

Title: Re: PARIS WPT - SECOND DAY ONE - LIVE UPDATE
Post by: tikay on July 26, 2005, 10:53:55 PM

Devilfish 20k

Tony Bloom 14k.

Dave Colclough 6,100.

Where's Jen? She's here, & she is gonna give me a little break now.

Tony G is OUT. He was short-stacked the whole day, & clung & clung, but it was not to be his day today. From what I saw or heard, he was as quiet as a lamb too.

Meanwhile his Heads-Up adversary in this tourney last year, Surinder Sunar, is quietly going about his business, as ever.

Something VERY odd going on here, but not WPT related, so move on swiftly if that's your only reason for being here.

Brian Wilson has asked if he can buy 10% of me in next week's 5k jobbie at The Vic. Julian already has 10% of me, which he bought last week. I am amazed, surprised, & a bit embarrassed about this. Thanks Guys. Maybe they fancy me? For the comp, I hasten to add......

Very weird, very flattering. I sense I'm due a tumble. Poker - & life - is like that.

Title: Re: PARIS WPT - SECOND DAY ONE - LIVE UPDATE
Post by: Djinn on July 26, 2005, 11:21:05 PM
Hello again, been outside in the wonderful Paris evening, warm and balmy only to return to find the ACF fairly roasting.  Roy Brindley just came to have a look at the other room and voiced his jealousy at their one open window... ah well, the players are dealing with it although they're getting a bit shiny.  It's not helping tempers though; Woody Deck sparked off a bit of a row with Mike Magee and they've both been told to cool off, as it were, or penalties are going to be given.

Nab is going strong despite his tough table.  He has about 33,000 and sits there with an enormous cigar permanently fixed in his mouth.  Haven't seen him light it yet, but the breaks are only 15 minutes long - hardly enough to get through a monster like that.

Also on his table - Andrew Black with 28,000 and the orangey-haired Steve Worr with 35,000.

ooh, I may be going crazy, but I do believe I feel aircon kicking on...

In one of the 2 rooms being used, there are 6 tables in total. It's down to 2 tables in one of the rooms, so they are using the other tables for regular cash games. It's like, "well, the WPT is no big deal". I think it IS a big deal.

Surinder Sunar (won it last year, Danafish) has been moved to El Blondie's left (ignoring the dealer, as one does).  He has been holding on to 5,000 which a couple of minutes ago became 7,000 but I get the impression he's not feeling too great and hopefully he can come back tomorrow feeling, well, better.

There is some hoo-hah going off on andy Black's table, between a French Gentleman and an Amercian Gentleman. (Spot the two euphanisms). But it's become hellish hot in here, its 01.15, & tempers are fraying on a lot of the tables.

Robert Williamson OUT - just as someone was exiting the table behind his with KJ which hit top pair and another guy's set of 8s, short-stacked Williamson moved all-in on the big blind with 55 only to find the small blind sitting on AA!  So that's two in two minutes.

Oh and the dispute (which was actually serious enough to halt play on ALL tables) was about a guy who declared all-in, had his hand mucked by the dealer and would have been called by the American guy (Steve Worr) who then made a fuss at the same time as all-in guy piped up about his missing hand.  It was decided that mucked-hand guy would just have to pay off the initial raise and not be forced to lose his whole stack.

I hope that made some kind of sense, not sure I'm even sure what was going on there.

Oh and we thought we'd lost Dave but he just got moved.  If this had happened in Vegas he'd have been reported as out for the hour it took to find him again.

Mike Sexton just turned up and he's smaller than he looks on TV.

And I am not "everyone". She only told me how much you made on that glorious day. 7.35, it's too much.

Dave Colclough (7,500) now has Tony Bloom to his immediate left, & Carlo Citrone immediately to HIS  left. A little corner of the UK, here in Paris.

El Blondie said that before Tony Bloom arrived, he had THE world's easiest blind steal, but now Mr Bloom has arrived, it's the worlds hardest blind to try & steal. Carlo's response is not repeatable.

No, not playing Stu, my nerve failed me at the last moment. Anyway, I have to pop back to London for the day tomorrow.

But I AM playing next week at The Vic - sold 20% of myself in fact. How crazy is that? One born every minute, eh?

We can maybe get him to put pictures of Cat up somewhere everyone can see them. He has videos as well now, you know. Maybe I'll put them on my website. With a link to them saying 'hot pussy action' or something similarly awful

No, the cat howling is not primaeval. Its in the "weaned too early" department I think. Charlie (the eldest cat) is tetchy & unapproachable most of the day, but goes all sucky wucky & demands a cuddle twice a day. She thinks I'm her Mum I think.

Don't do it Ironside! The pressure would be too much.

Stuart Nash      50,000
Rob Hollink       17,000
Devilfish           13,000
Tony Bloom     15,200
NabTheAce     27,000
Ken Lennard    40,000
Roy Brindley     40,000
Gilles Haddad    78,000 - and the chip leader by a healthy chunk

Aah, isn't that cute? My cat has been totally beaten into submission by 16 years of aggressive love. Now she just goes limp and takes it. I can put her on my head, like a cat hat

Saw Andy Black telling Devilfish "Just let it go, let it go" a minute ago but they were all smiling for a change.

Just had a message from Dexy.

Yes Mum, your Son is doing terrific - he had about 25k last time I looked. No clothes - he left them at home - but plenty of chips.

Oh, & "Son" is Carlo Citrone.

OK it's the end of day 1, 2.  In the last five minutes, Dave, Roy Brindley and Andy Black have all gone all-in, with no callers.  It looks like they're all back tomorrow, then!

Yup,another day done.

We are expecting san onslaught of guys telling us their bad beat stories, so it's time to run for cover.

We will be signing off shortly, it's been another long day, but great fun.

Thanks to Jen for her hard work, enthusiasm, insightful posts, & utter lunacy. She's as mad as a hatter, you know, completely doo-lally.

And thanks to Bruno for facilitating us.

And to you guys for watching, & for posting, it's your posting that keeps us going.

Woody Deck out with A4 vs a K 10 which flopped the nut straight.  Took a shot to double up to 18k or go home, and it's home.

Barny Boatman knocked back to about 5k when his flopped set was flushed by Rob Hollink on the last hand.  Rotten.  But coming back tomorrow.

And right on cue, Barny Boatman arrives to tell us that on his very last hand, his set got turned over by a flush, & he's back down to 5k, where he was 7 hours ago.

And Stuart Nash tells us he has 52,700.

Roy Brindley, with his usual carrier bag in hand, 45,525 (approx). He flopped Quads the very last hand!

We MAY get some chip counts later, but don't wait up, it may take a while.

Dave Colclough 5,525.

Carlo Citrone 26,625.

Dave appears to have gone back to his hotel. He's still under the weather with the cold-flu he picked up on the plane home from Vegas, & he's battled his heart out all day, with no cards & no luck. He can be satisfied with a tough day which he has, somehow, survived. He blames me for feeling bad, too. I told him to get an early night last night, so he did, & slept 14 hours straight. Reckoned he felt worse when he woke up!

Tom Ryan? I can't see his name amongst the survivors. If it's Irishmen, or Irish based guys, you are intersted in, these are the guys I can see.....

Frank Callaghan - 92,325, he's the chip leader.

Roy Brindley, 45,525

Rory Liffey, 25,725

Andrew Black, 23,575

Average Chips would be circa 30,000.

Jen will post the full list of survivors later today.

Tikay, you could do a T J Cloutier and sell 15 lots of 10% of yourself for the Vic....create an interesting problem for yourself WHEN you win

Ah, so that's how the pro's make their money.
