Title: Profiles of blondeites
Post by: tikay on August 02, 2005, 07:05:24 AM
We now have around two dozen Player Profiles on the Main Site, and we will be adding 2 or 3 a week for the foreseeable future. These are, in the main, the more well-known players.

But we'd rather like to have Profiles of the regular blondeites, the girlies and geezers that we see posting on blonde Forum - that means YOU.

So why not write a Profile of yourself, and send it to either tikay@blondepoker.com, or via PM to me? If you can include picture(s), all the better, but don't worry if you can't.

What should you include? Well, that's up to you, but look at it this way. We regularly read posts by blondeites, but many of them are just "names", we don't really know anything about them, an it'd be cool if we did.

So, ideally, include.....

How Long Playing Poker

Where you play, what Casino, what Online Cardrooms, & aliases.

Family / domestic situation, married, single, age. If you've got kids, wife/hubbie, names, ages, & pics if possible.

Job

Biggest win/most notable poker achievement, most notable non-poker achievement.

Hobbies apart from poker

Pets? How many, what, names?

Anything else you'd like to include. Maybe the poker players you most admire, the Football Team you support, that sorta stuff.

None of those items are mandatory, but you get the drift.

We will put all of them up on the Main Site, and hopefully, in the months to come, we should be able to gather quite a collection. And it WILL help everyone else, to be able to "picture", so to speak, a particular blondeite.

I'm rather looking forward to this!

nice idea this one. can I also suggest the forum profile has the option to put your real name aswell. obviously like all the other options it wouldn't be compulsary but I've always liked putting my name to my words and I'm not the only one Im sure

yeah, questionnaire would be good. I started trying to write something but a framework would be helpful

OK, I will write a framework IF we decide to do this. But the idea got a decidedly cool reception, hardly anyone picked up on it, so maybe my bright idea was not so bright after all....!

I like this idea, I think others do to, its just that people find the thought of doing a profile of themselves a bit daunting, remember, everyone isnt a proper writer like what we are

Dont dismiss it just yet, it dosnt have to be a regular, a monster that constantly needs feeding, it wont matter if we only get a new one every preston guild, they will grow into a great collection over time

I'm not sure about the "Framework" idea, it could be helpfull, but if you make it into a questionare it will make the whole process like filling in a form

Anyway, I think blonde profiles is a great idea, just bear in mind, it dosnt have to be a literary masterpiece, it just has  be about YOU, about YOUR life, YOUR opinions, intrests, influences, failures and triumphs

So, give me a week or two and I will put my money where my mouth is and do one, if you want me to, the writing wont be good, the spelling and punctuation will be dreadful, and it will ramble about all over the place, but it will be my story in my words

I grew up in a word that was different from yours, and people make judgements about me every day because of it, they pre judge, 'prejudice'

More to follow.....?

Yeah, I also like this idea - I'll probably put something together soon and submit it but I'm not sure I really want the type of person who wants to read about me, reading about me ;)

Perhaps the lack of replies is due to the fact that poker players are the shy and retiring sort. It certainly is a good idea but I wouldn't have the faintest what to write at the moment.

How bout just sending out a standard questionnaire - those who reply go on the site and those who don't, don't!

I think there'll be more replies than you expect.

The more I think about this, the more I like it.

Cant wait to see some of them.

But remember, send them to me via PM.

Questionnaire, framework, template or not?........

The Baron could have a point there - we could PM EVERYONE with a termplate, & then it'd be up to the Members whether to respond or not.

But Red Dog is right too - a list of questions may be too restrictive, especially if I penned it. "What is your favourite steam locomotive?"........

"What is your favourite steam locomotive?"........

The Sir Nigel Gresley, I spent endless hours watching an old man making a scale model of this train. When I wanted to escape the wife and kids for a little while, I would go and sit in his workshop next to a pot bellied stove, holding this, passing him that, and listening to him talk

When I say model, I mean he made a real steam train about one 8th the size of the original, every part crafted from the raw matal by hand. He estimated it would take him 5 years to finish it, his ambition was to complete it before he died

He did, It was beautiful, and he used it to pull childeren up and down a home made track

He told me that he would leave it to a museum, that he was relieved to have finished it, he said it was like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders

The next I heard.........he had started work on the Mallard

Lovely, lovely story Red-Dog. But just one thing - "The "Sir Nigel Gresley" was a steam locomotive, not a train.

Ok, sorry, the old man, (Bill Kirklington) used to tell me off for calling his locomotive a train as well

I know how it feels, it winds me up when people advertise "Pedigree Golden Labradors" there are NO "Golden Labradors" they are YELLOW!

Seeing how your example question prompted me to tell you about the old man and the LOCOMOTIVE, I think a framework might be a good idea after all,  ???

Fancy giving it a try? it will give you something to do
