Title: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 01:37:40 PM Welcome to the blonde Live Update service fior the EPT/PokerStars Grand Finale in Monte Carlo.
Play is due to get under way in 24 minutes, at 3pm local time. Between now & then, we are going to try & set the scene, so you guys will feel like you are here with us. If that's a bit boring for you, well come back once the action really starts. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 01:42:04 PM Comp is a 10,000 chip jobbie, with blinds starting at 25-50, and it's a 4 day affair.
I gather they will play 5 levels today. Each level will be 90 minutes, with a 10 minute break at the end of each level. It costs 10,000 Euros to enter. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Jim R on March 16, 2005, 01:43:14 PM Hi Tony wish i was there are u playing.
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 01:50:23 PM The venue is not a casino, but an "arena" which is between the Casino Monte Carlo & the well posh Hermitage Hotel. In fact, the "arena" is the 2nd floor of a cinema. The tables are set out in 3 huge "ballroom" type jobbies, with a sort of open walkway at one end linking all three rooms.
The left hand room has 9 tables, the right hand room has 10 tables, & the middle room has 7 tables, including the TV table which is already set up. There is plenty of room for spectators to mingle, so we hope to be able to "roam the rooms" getting chip counts for you. The dealers are already sat at the tables, with the stacks of 10,000 chips all ready to be dished out to the players. Looks like 9 to a table. Number of runners will be confirmed once the registration has closed. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 01:55:26 PM Hi Jim, no, decided not to play in the end. I played a 1,000 Euro Satellite last night (JT "bought" 50% of me, bless him), & ended up chopping it with a guy we travellled out with, Nick Whiten. Nick's a good friend, & we agreed that if we got heads-up, we would chop.
I really wanted to play this one, but I am feeling a bit under the weather, so decided in the end to give it a miss & concentrate on the Live Updates. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Jim R on March 16, 2005, 02:00:29 PM Tell JT i hope he last a bit longer this time. ;D
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Junior Senior on March 16, 2005, 02:06:31 PM Well done on the split Tikay!

Also looking forward to the reports, keep up the good work Tony for all us poor folk Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 02:13:07 PM We shall be taking a look at the "hot" tables once the guys get sat down. And we shall be following certain players all the way. If you want to follow the progress of someone in particular, then LET US KNOW!
So far, we have had requests to follow Bengt Sonnett, who won the 500 in Walsall, & fellow Swede Daniel Larsson. We shall also follow the Nottingham boys - Julian Thew, Rob Yong, and the blonde forum-ites, Simon Trumper, El Blondie, Milky Bar Kid, Ariston, Mel Lofthouse, & co. The blackpool boys - Simon Nowab, Davre Clayton & Burnley John. And the Superstars - Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker (not seen him yet), Surinder, Devilfish, El Blondie, The Hendon Mob, Noah Boeken, Marcel Luske, Pepe Klinger, John Shipley. it's 3.10 now, but no sweat - they players are still wandering round looking for their seats. And Rhow has just arrived, looking fresh as a daisy. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 02:19:21 PM Interestingly, it seems to be 8 to a table. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 02:21:46 PM They have a feature table - the TV table - and Greg Raymer is in seat 6, with Tony G in seat 5 - THAT could end in tears. Raymer impressed me greatly in Copenhgagen, as a man and as a player, & if Tony G starts acting up, it could get HOT...... Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Ironside on March 16, 2005, 02:24:08 PM They have a feature table - the TV table - and Greg Raymer is in seat 6, with Tony G in seat 5 - THAT could end in tears. Raymer impressed me greatly in Copenhgagen, as a man and as a player, & if Tony G starts acting up, it could get HOT...... better get someone to turn on the air conditioning then Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 02:24:49 PM Noah Boeken & Simon Nowab are neighbours on T 26, Noah with position. On T1, it's Ram & Dave Clayton. T6 (or T9?), it's blonde forum-ite Ben Grundy & Rob Hollinck.
T4 looks hot too - Willie Tann, Luca Pagano, Angel ??(?, the WHUPC World Champion), & Rob Yong. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 02:27:59 PM Off we go!!
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Junior Senior on March 16, 2005, 02:30:09 PM Interesting to see who thinks they are the most cool! - Luca or Rob Yong (battle of egos methinks!)
good scene setting tikay - if only someone had invented a teleporting device and would give me 10,000 euros! Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Jim R on March 16, 2005, 02:33:28 PM Jr i know just how you feel :-\
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Ironside on March 16, 2005, 02:34:48 PM Interesting to see who thinks they are the most cool! - Luca or Rob Yong (battle of egos methinks!) good scene setting tikay - if only someone had invented a teleporting device and would give me 10,000 euros! getting 10,000 euros is not a problem being able to afford to lose 10,000 euros on one bad beat and still remain sane is a different question Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 02:35:37 PM OK, in the "right hand" room, I noted.....
Vicky Coren on T 9. Marcel on T22. Xuyen & John Gale on T21. And Joe Beevers & David Benyamine sat next to each other on T18. But here's a hottie, on T25.... Gary Bush, Yoyo Thew, a dude with a sleeveless singlet on (ooh-er), Ross Boatman, & Daniel Larsson. Jeez, I hope Thewy & Daniel dont get lairy too early. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Junior Senior on March 16, 2005, 02:42:50 PM Bushy will only play AA or KK in the first 6 hours!
Sounds like a good table! - Can't see anyone getting too busy too early Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Ironside on March 16, 2005, 02:47:16 PM Bushy will only play AA or KK in the first 6 hours! Sounds like a good table! - Can't see anyone getting too busy too early what playing rags like KK within the first 6 hours? i wont even play that loose on a $5 single table SnG Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 02:49:06 PM But last weeks French Hero Pascal's extraordinary luck continues - he just had a huge confrontation with his QQ against KK, but being Pascal, caught his Q....!
And on the adjoining table, EXACTLY the same coup, this time Big Os Mustangolu was the lucky winner. Pascal & Big Os both now got around 18k. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 02:57:56 PM Just noted that T26 - Nowab & Boeken - also includes Tony Bloom & Alan Betson.
And T3 has Devilfish & Martin de Knijff. Gus Hansen is on T14, Mel Lofthouse - blonde forum-ite - is on T10 with the young Swedish gentleman with very long blonde hair who was on the cover of Poker Europa two months ago - Michael Thuritz maybe? T 8 includes John Shipley & Richard Gryko in adjacent seats. Gryko seemed "tired & distressed" last night, but has scrubbed up well this morning. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 02:59:30 PM On Table ?, we have Big Os, El Blondie, Steve Jelinck, & Bo ?, the Swedish guy (Legato on PokerStars) who is sponsored by Martin's Room.
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Junior Senior on March 16, 2005, 03:01:49 PM Just how lucky can Pascal be!!
he just can't lay a hand down! Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Ironside on March 16, 2005, 03:02:42 PM has anyone been knocked to the rail yet?
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 03:03:48 PM I cant believe Pascal's luck Junior. But don't forget, he's French. Don't think we've had any exits yet. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 03:12:46 PM Marcel Luske is sat next to John Kabbaj. John has a new Noble Poker Baseball Cap, but it's too small for him - it looks like a pimple on a piecrust. His wife is there too, she looks just beautiful. And Isobel Mercier just waved at me - swoon, swoon. I think she fancies me, she seemed to be undressing me with her eyes. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Rolandinho on March 16, 2005, 03:19:39 PM Keep em coming Tony. Updates for Willie and Bengt please.
Tired and emotional is i believe the phrase for Gryko Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 03:20:44 PM William Hill's Xuyen in action early. She had JJ against John Gale's QQ, on a T high board, & did well to only lose 1k.
But she got it back with interest against elderly American gentleman with her nut flush against his AK. He bet on the end, she said "wow, that lot of cheep you bet meester" & put in a gentle RR, he called, she says "I got nut fwush, you no take my cheeps meester?". Not seen Smoking Steve, but he's here somewhere. Vicky Coren has more than she started with. Bushy says that 8 handed has forced him to re-assess his game plan - gotta play hands now. He looks shocked. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Junior Senior on March 16, 2005, 03:23:51 PM I wasn't that impressed with Isabelle in Vienna. Thought she would be more attractive than that!
The EPT host on the other hand - now she the business! - Caroline something or other - wow!! Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 03:24:14 PM OK, tired and distressed AND emotiional. A few other things too, but Mr Gryko in great form.
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Ironside on March 16, 2005, 03:26:42 PM any sightings of the ironside massive?

How much for your tea and sarnie this time...cheaper than Deauville Also say hi to julian Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Junior Senior on March 16, 2005, 03:29:48 PM Whats the betting that when Bushy makes his first raise (probably sometime tomorrow) that the whole room folds and not just the guys on his table!
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 03:31:06 PM Isobel disappointed you? Are you CRAZY? She's so lovely she gives me toothache.
OK, enquiries in for Sonnett & Willie Tann. Spookily, they BOTH have 14k. Willie just caught a straight with A-T on a 7839J board, AGAINST AA. Lucky Willie! We just lost 2 players, dont know names though. One of them had a gangsta-hood on, you know, "well hard". He's still out though. I believe we began with 206 runners, so a prize pool of about 2 million euros. Very nice. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Rolandinho on March 16, 2005, 03:42:36 PM TK you are nothing if not 'street'
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 03:43:02 PM Fish has doubled up.
Surinder & Barney are in adjacent seats. Noah Boeken has doubled up. Smokin Steve & Simon Trumper are on adjacent seats, Trumper & Ariston are engaged in a duel. OK, some bad news....... How's Milkybar doing? The "pretty" ::) Swedish guy on the cover of the magazine two months ago would be Sagstrom, would it not? Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: TightEnd on March 16, 2005, 03:58:34 PM Has Kafelnikov's game developed beyond "All-in" or "Fold"?

There were 2 clubs on the flop, & a third club hit the turn, &TWO players had the flush! He sooooo lucky.
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: TightEnd on March 16, 2005, 04:12:23 PM How many of us could do with some luck like that? ....lets hope the pre-eminent Blonde one makes the most of it unlike in,er, Vienna.
the other night I lost with quad 3's (played slower than a snail), with the quad Q falling on the river. Just about sobering up!!!! Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: thepokerwhore on March 16, 2005, 04:15:22 PM don't worry relief is at hand

Dying for someone to tell me they've seen something like that live. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: thepokerwhore on March 16, 2005, 04:20:00 PM vegas wsop day 1: mad chinese woman mags it in with any overpair (know the feeling). she is loving the 655 flop with her 8s. so is the small blind with 55. the smoke flies.....you can guess the rest. 900-1 is quite short when you think about it. what does that say about the rest of the "bad beat" stories you have been subjected too.

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: carlo citrone on March 16, 2005, 06:27:44 PM Even after such a short time I think this site has become 'THE STANDARD' for live updates. Great for us railbirds, however each time you guys do such a great job it becomes more expected as 'THE NORM' . Keep it up Blonde Team.... for all our sakes. Great job
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 06:27:53 PM Greg Raymer DOUBLES UP to 6k with a boat, Jacks over threes.

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: jbsc7769 on March 16, 2005, 06:51:54 PM I gotta agree with Carlo, This amazing service is now expected as the norm after so much great coverage. Although it is a shame Tikay is not playing, it is great for the site because this is the best yet.
So, how is the mighty Mr Hansen doing Tikay? Come on, you know he is my idol! I predict a number 2 finish for him, just behind the boy Thew ! Not sure who bluffs the most though..... Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 06:55:19 PM We are struggling to locate Mr Mistereggen - but give us time, & we will. OK, will have a look at the Norweigans next, but before we do, we have some news on Gus Hansen & Gary Bush. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Flemma on March 16, 2005, 06:58:26 PM Thanx m8. I was hoping Ram could make it this time, but seems lik he's no good at tournaments theese days. So predict mr Gus The Great Dane Hansen to win this one.
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: koffeliane on March 16, 2005, 07:05:38 PM Great! Thanks for looking into Mr. Mistereggen and the other Norwegians positions. This site has been very helpful for the EPT finales update, so a lot of kudos to the guys updating.
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 07:09:45 PM Gus Hansen is in EVERY pot. He a newbie I think. Bushy finds AA, & decides to play them. He Raises, Gus calls. Flop comes raggity baggity, 2 clubs, one diamond. Bet, call. Turn a second diamond, check check. River the THIRD diamond, Gus backdoors his flush & cracks Gary's Aces. Luckily they both checked the turn, otherwise Gary loses a lot more. Bushy 8k. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 07:12:06 PM Vicky Coren 5k. Dinner break now. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: The Camel on March 16, 2005, 07:12:24 PM Has Garry or Gus got position?
I would fancy Bushy to trap him if he's on Gus's left... Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Karabiner on March 16, 2005, 07:13:15 PM How is Monsieur Kabbaj ( ;)) doing ?
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: carlo citrone on March 16, 2005, 07:14:14 PM I think it's Gary with position
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: thepokerwhore on March 16, 2005, 07:14:57 PM why is he checking 4th street? are the best in europe scared of the dane because he has been on the TV??? he must be freerolling every coup if people are scared of him.
I don't do nuffin for free. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 07:16:45 PM What is position Camel.........? Gus is to the immediate LEFT of Gary..... Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: thepokerwhore on March 16, 2005, 07:18:48 PM please Lucy explain the button. I know EXACTLY where to put that.
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 07:19:17 PM I don't know why Gary checked the turn, but he is convinced that Gus woulda called anyway, & so checking saved him a good few thou.
We'd need someone who understands poker to explain that. Or Carlo. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Lou on March 16, 2005, 07:20:12 PM Any more news on the notts boys?
Are they keeping a low profile? Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: The Camel on March 16, 2005, 07:20:47 PM Gus is to the immediate LEFT of Gary..... Uh oh. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 07:21:11 PM Cant comment on what Lucy might say to that, but there's NO CHANCE of me geting stroppy with Ms Rokach. Me terrified of her, she an ANIMAL.......Nice animal, like.
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 07:23:59 PM Notts boys? Mixed, I am afraid. Nick Whiten did not play. Tikay did not play - he full of 'flu. Good decision too, feel well rough. Rob Yong OUT Julian Thew - 15k. Now, I MAY be able to get Thewy boy to give us a word or two..... Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: julian on March 16, 2005, 07:27:40 PM thanks tony, nice lead in....
first table not much fun with bushy, ross & daniel L, am now on a more lively table with oz & DC. have had aces & queens, both held up, can't grumble. dinner time, queue for buffet horrendous, can't grumble there either. feels like summer here! Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Flemma on March 16, 2005, 07:30:54 PM Any norwegians makin it happen? ::)
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: carlo citrone on March 16, 2005, 07:41:05 PM Make no mistake Bushy is a class poker player ! Aces are no means a 100% winner and a top player will play these hands. ..Not just raise before the flop then stick it all in after and hope they stand up (they very often don't). If Hanson was 'chipped up' with a big draw and Bushy felt that he may we get re-raised on the turn, then he probably made the right play, however we don't have all of the facts about the hand.....so lets give Bushy the benefit of the doubt. HE IS THE ENGLISH GUY AFTER ALL!!!!
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: sig75 on March 16, 2005, 07:42:23 PM I know Paul "FIKS" Hersleth is in, and a few more as well. Could you give us an update? :-)

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Simon Zach on March 16, 2005, 07:58:15 PM Gus Hansen is in EVERY pot. He a newbie I think. Bushy finds AA, & decides to play them. He Raises, Gus calls. Raymer impressed me greatly in Copenhgagen, as a man and as a player, & if Tony G starts acting up, it could get HOT...... Hope Surinder does well always enjoy watching him play on the box.....so good luck to him Tikay ..Top job as always K9 Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: julian on March 16, 2005, 08:36:45 PM Right, they playing again. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 08:45:13 PM Devilfish's table - Devilfish has about 6k or 7k.
Martin de Knijff has best part of 35k. Anthony, the aggressive young Frenchman who plays mainly at the Aviation in Paris, also has about 35k. He is a nice guy (yup, a nice Frency guy....) & has a great game. Cant remember his name though. Look up the Final I made in Paris last year, he outlasted me in that. Kabbaj won that day, I was 5th or 6th, so Anthony was 3rd or 4th i think. Look his name up someone, please! Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 08:46:55 PM Julian Gardner - nope, not seen him. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 09:11:02 PM Thewy had a bit of an accident. He rivered a set of Jacks, but ran into a flush. 8k - thats 40 BB, as the blinds have just gone 100-200.
Tikay told him to calm down, take stock, re-assess, & grind it out for a while. I could hang in till Easter with 8k..... Dave Colclough had a mini-accident too, but not too bad. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Simon Zach on March 16, 2005, 09:12:49 PM welcome to the forum simon Thanks Malc good to see there are no limits to your I.T. skills comming on leaps and bounds mooching round forums we ll have you programing next. lol Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 09:14:32 PM Hi threekings - yes, i really enjoyed that opening table in Vienna. Wouldn't that describe like 20% of the players? :D Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 09:18:13 PM Weird goings on. They have changed the entire Feature Table. The previous occupants - Greg Raymer, Tony G, the tennis player chappie, they all been chucked off, the whole table.
And in their place, they have put the Devilfish, Martin De Knijff, Anthony Lellouche table. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 09:19:18 PM OK easycure, I'll try. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 09:21:15 PM And instant action on the "new" feature table. Devilfish ALL-IN, with A-J, versus A-Q, so he's in deep, deep, trouble.....
Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: Easycure on March 16, 2005, 09:21:55 PM Thanks!
Scott Bush looks like the picture Brad "Otis" Willis took of him and posted on: http://europeanpokertour.blogspot.com/2005/03/monte-carlo-dinner-break-news.html You should be able to find him easy now that you kow what he looks like in the picture. Cheers! Easycure Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 09:22:36 PM but a J on the flop, and another on the river, is enough to double up Mr Ulliott.

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 09:29:55 PM Bushy - about 11k. He has an AWFUL seat, with Gus to his left. I think Gus has about 18k. Bush is chuntering big time. "How can he have a hand every time?. Every time I R, he calls. It's ridiculous." Gary needs to calm down & wait, in my opinion. but who am I to say. I like Gary a lot, but he just needs to weather the storm. Who is this Hansen fella, anyway? If Hanson wants to rock and roll in every pot it should make it easier (in theory) for Bushy to pick his spot and double through ! One simple rule in comps JUST WIN THE HANDS YOU PLAY ! Simple eh ? ha ha

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 10:51:49 PM Bushy clashes with Gus.
Early pos R to 200, Gary got 99 & just CALLS. Hansen then makes it..... 2,800....! Gary says he was CERTAIN that Hansen did not have a big hand - Hansen too good to bet so much. Bushy puts Hansen or AJ or 88. Bushy bravely moves ALL-In, & puts his whole tourney on the line, trusting his judgement. Hansen calls, and turns over..... 8-8.! No drama - Bushy doubles through. Good Man! This is just about what Carlo predicted would happen eventually. Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 1 Post by: tikay on March 16, 2005, 10:53:47 PM OK Carlo.
