Title: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: tikay on March 18, 2005, 01:04:21 PM
Good afternoon to you all from tikay & the blonde team here in sunny Monte Carlo.

Technical problems (again...) have delayed us this afternoon, & the 'flu has hit me like a sledgehammer, buy no worries, once the action starts, all will be welll.

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: tikay on March 18, 2005, 01:06:53 PM
Action should have started 8 minutes ago, but there is no sign of activity yet, & the guys are only just srarting to get seated.

Seats remain as last night, but there WILL be a complete redraw when they get down to 27 players. (38 now).

Then they will play down to the Final Table of 8.

They have a "TV Table" again. At present, it is Table 2, which includes Scott Bush, the low-chipped Marcel Luske - who is wearing a VERY expensive black suit - and Brandon Schaeffer, he who did so well in Deauville. He really is a lovely guy, too. And on the same table is 12th placed Isabelle Mercier. Isabelle has her jet black hair "down" today. She has a black PokerStars blouse, & blue jeans. I think Isabelle may be the only poker player in the world whose bottom is sponsored - she wears jeans with the slogan "Van Dutch" written large across the, err, bottom. I jest not.

Young Nathaneal is in action early. Blinded down to about 3k, he doubles through & lets out a whoop & a hollar. The Baseball Cap is on sideways again, & he's derermined to eke iut every last minute of fun from his Monte Carlo trip.

Mr KEVIN O'CONNELL - AN APOLOGY

Yesterday, under the headline "Quality Starting Hands are the Key" we referred to Kevin's coup with 4-3 suited on a K44 flop. Kevin has asked us to point out that this was NOT correct. He claims he would never, ever, raise with 4-3 suited - it would only give him one flush draw. Scott Gray spotted our report, & discussed it with one Padraig Parkinson (who he?) in Paris. Padraig complained to Keven that if such stories were allowed to go uncorrected, it would damage the reputation of the Irish as top poker players. We are happy to issue a correction - it was 4-3 OFF.

Joe Grech is OUT. I believe 2 other players have also perished, but I cant see who they are. Joe was pretty much Billy Low Stack overnight.

Approx 35 left, maybe 36.

38 not far off 41 Carlo? It don't have to be far my friend. AQ aint far behind AK, but it's far enough, know what i mean.....?

Dublin. Same table. OK?

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: tikay on March 18, 2005, 01:49:21 PM

Official - there are 36 left. I will try & find out who else has busted out.

More hollering, hooting & banging of tables tells us that young Nathaneal has doubled through aqain, he's up to about 20k I guess. He has upset one of two of the guys with his over-zealous rubdowns & celebrations, but he's just a lad, & he'll learn saoon enough what it's like to be on the wrong end of such behaviour. But he's still in, & you never know, he could be in this comp for a good while yet. I hope so.

Table 5

1. Ben Grundy 37,600
2. Eirik Mistereggen 40,600
3. Nathanael Kelly 6,600
4. Julian Gardner 98,800
5. Morten Jensen 26,100
6. Martin Wendt 73,100
8. Alexander Stevic 66,500

Well Nathaneal seems to have about 20k now.

And Kevin "I dont R with 4-3 suited" O'Connell has made remarkable progress, & seems to have about 130k now.

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3

Maybe they have the TV cameras on the wrong table? Nate could become THE story if he keeps it up.

Rob Hollinck & Kevin o'Connell clash BIG TIME.

Kevin has been RR Rob non-stop, & Rob started to get hacked off.

Then, Kevin gets two red queens, & Rob gets AK - that's A clubs & K diamonds.

Board comes ALL rags, Diamond, diamond, diamond, diamond, diamond.........

Rob's AK is good, & Kevin o'Connell is crippled, down to maybe 35k, Rob up to 225k or so.

That'll teach him for playing rubbish hands. Tell him to stick to real premium hands like 4-3 off. Actually now its short handed let him know he can widen his starting hand requirements to 7-2 off suit.

Nathaneals exit was UGLY. He caught a straight against Julian Gardner, but Julian could not psss hisset of 10's - which became QUADS on the river....

Unlucky Nathaneal, but you achieved every goal you set out to achieve, & if you are good enough, there will be plenty more days like you have enjoyed this week.

I just received THE most lovely e-Mail from Easycure, who is sweating Scott Bush.

Scott has about 85k, & is on the TV Table.

Isabelle is to his left, & is indulging in some quite spectacular chip twirling today - double salkelds with triple back somersaults. And Marcel to HER left looks awesomely well groomed, beautiful suit, polished shoes, manuicured nails, every bit the Englisg gent. Except he's Dutch......

Well Isabelle has a LOT more chips to twirl with now, as she has just busted Marcel in quite spectacular fashion.

Marcel AQ, Isabelle QQ.

On the turn,, Marcel hits his A, AND picks up a flush draw, but amazingly, the diminutive Isabele catches the Case A on the River, to the gasps of the audience. Marcel "walks" with dignity.

Isabelle & Brandon Schaeffer just colliided head-on in a whopper.

Isabelle had AA, Brandon Schaeffer KQ. An innocent looking flop of 2-4-6 gave no cause for concern to Isabelle, but turn & river came Q-Q..... Ayya!

Isabelle not crippled by any means, but she was motoring, but is back down to 50 or 60k now,

Right, Gus for that Citrone fell,.....

Rolf Slotboom's Poker Blog
Ace Speaks From Vienna - Day No. 3
Fri, 18 Mar 2005 07:00:15 -0600
Almost in the money!

---
EPT Update No. 32

A few moments before Marcel's exit, we must have lost the dangerous Robert Mizrachi as well. I told you before that at Rob Hollink's table, Kevin O'Connell had gotten the chip lead over Rob, now I am fairly certain that he had amassed these chips against the Master Classics Main Event winner Robert Mizrachi. And at the featured table, Brandon Schaefer has just made a massive step forward against the same Isabelle who just knocked out Marcel. Isabelle had aces this time, but Brandon with KQ had flopped a pair of kings plus flush draw. Isabelle made a pot-sized bet, Brandon moved in with Isabelle calling, and then improved by hitting a queen on the turn. (There may have been another queen on the river as well; I am not certain of that. Of course, it is also not that important as the first queen was enough for Brandon to gain him the pot). Either way, the EPT Deauville winner has a ton of chips now, and Isabelle has been severely crippled. 28 players left, one more and we're in the money. Once the redraw has been done, I will then also try to come up with an estimated chip count.

Rolandinho - I agree, the Scheaffer-Mercier hand does not make much sense as reported.

Rolf Slotboom thinks it played different - flop came 2-4-K, giving Brandon top pair, then the turn was a Q, giving Brandon 2 pair, & the River another Q, giving Brandon the boat. That seems to make more sense.

Bugger! We have a surprise Bubble Boy - Willie Tann!

Don't know the details yet, but Rob Hollinck now has Willie's chips - there were plenty of 'em, too.

Willie looks gutted. He is with Mrs Willie right now, maybe we can have a word with him when he calms down.......

I would love to know how the hand played out, it seems unlikely Willie would call on the end without being completely committed in that spot..

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: luckyblind on March 18, 2005, 04:12:40 PM
By the look of it Willie had K10 vs 10 5 for rob hollinck. 10 on the flop. 5 on the turn. Willie called all in on the river. There is a picture of him on the EPT blog. He rightly doesnt look too impressed.

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: tikay on March 18, 2005, 04:12:45 PM
Willie's exit hand was a blinds battle that went wrong for Willie. Willie held K-T, Rob Hollinck 5-T, flop came T-6-2. Willie bet the flop small, Rob called. Turn came the dreaded 5, Willie bet again, this time Rob RR'd 40k, Willie called. All the chips went in on the end. Willie kicking himself, if he moves all-in on the flop, Rob passes. Bushy thinks Willie ought to have got away from the hand on the turn when Rob RR'd.

Barney Boatman is OUT

He "moved" and it was the old classic confrontation - Barney's T-4 off, v Kevin Seegers J-Q suited. A flop of KJT was as bad as it coud be, and there were to be no miracle escapes for the ultra popular Hendon Mobster.

Hi Easycure,

Rolf & I are - literally - sat alongside each other, & are pooling our information gathering, but inputting seperately, exactly as it should be, so it's kinda weird when he posts something on his site & it finds it's way to my site a few nana-seconds later - via America!

Tikay, it's the Internet Information Age! I'm in Scott Bush's homestate of Washington on the West Coast of America. He was the best man, or best mate?, at my wedding.....I've known him a long time.

I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes, or give bad info....just trying to spread it around. I commend all of you for your hard wirk, as we wouldn't know what was going on at the tournament.

Scott's friends and family, and other watchers, all thank you for just doing what you are doing.

Tikay, Half an idea for future comps would be to get the players to wear name badges. This would make your job a hell of alot easier. Maybe you already thought about it?

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: tikay on March 18, 2005, 05:37:16 PM
I just chatted with Isabelle (gulp.....), she has played herself back up to 80k, but she has had a real yoyo afternoon.

The big hand that decimated her stack WAS AA v KQ on a flop of 2-4-6, with Q's dropping on turn AND river. Perfect perfect, as they say. That's the two Queen's, not Isabelle.....

Thanks Carlo. A great idea, but i dont really have the "standing" in poker to ask for these sorta things. I am not too bad with names in the UK tourneys, but it's a bugger in these EPT & Euro jobbies - even DC admits, he sits at a table & dont know ANY of em.

And for next week maybe you can suggest that idea in Dublin. I shall be playing in the Main Event, so once you have bust out - well before me, OBVIOUSLY - you will be doing the blonde reporting bit.....

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: carlo citrone on March 18, 2005, 05:50:17 PM
No problem. All of the players would agree if they have travelled because it will allow their friends to follow their progress. The promoter of the comp would agree for obvious reasons. Jobs a goodin ! By the way it's not a new idea, Bendigo does it with great success in Oz for the Ozzy Millions.

I think Anthony Lellouche just busted out. What a shame if he has. He's a remarkable paradox - intelligent, brave, handsome, but French. Despite thaqt, I like the guy a great deal.

Of course, Scott Bush, is NOT directly related to the President (that I know of).

DISASTER.

Scott Bush is OUT!

Don't know the details yet, & he is chatting with Brad Willis of PokerStars right now. He seems to be in good heart.

If I can grab hold of him, I may be able to get him to pass a message to his legions of fans in Washington & Korea. And I guess blonde's site traffic will drop now too, dammit.....

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3

So, 16 left, & 55 miniutes remain at this level.

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: Easycure on March 18, 2005, 09:06:57 PM
American FPP qualifier Scott Bush just departed after making a failed play against Romain Feriolo. Feriolo called for 36,000 with second pair, ace kicker with one card to come. Bush, who was in the big blind, was obviously hoping to move Feriolo off the hand. Bush held 83s and could only muster bottom pair.

Anthony Lelllouche, who was down to 15k & all-in a few hours ago, is back up to 130,000 - a wonderful fightback.

And Isabelle Mercier - sat to his right now - has got about 85k. She told me during the dinner break that she really needed to get a double up, but I urged her to be patient (what's it gotta do with ME?). Well, for whatever reason, she HAS been patient, & I hope she finds a hand soon. She'd be a very popular Finalist.

Bloody Hell, Julian Gardner just lost almost his entire stack with JJ v A-T. He has about 10k left.

I guess Carlo must have tipped Julian.......

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: tikay on March 18, 2005, 10:51:51 PM

Julian Gardner moves his small stack in, & gets called by Kevin Seeger.

Kevin shows A-5, Julian shows 4 3.

Flop is (wait for it...) 3-4-5, giving Julian 2 pair, & Kevin top pair, A kicker, & gutshot straight. The turn is a cruel A, & now Julian needs a 2 to split, or a 3 or 4 to fill up. It comes a 10, so Julian Gardner is OUT 15th.....

Evening Tony,

Sorry to be a pain, but do you know when the first hand will be dealt on the Final Day? I need to set the betting to close when the "Cards are in the Air".

Thanks,
Mike

ps If Laddo Milkybar Grundy makes the Final Group of 9 players, Intertops will be paying out plenty on the "Blonde Bombshell" bet for any blonde-ite to make the Top 9. Who said bookmaking was easy? >:(

can you tell em to hurry up i am shattered and i need some sleep

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: tikay on March 19, 2005, 01:05:43 AM

Yeah Ironside, we are ALL shattered & need sleep BADLY.

But the post you saw by Mrs C (saying there were 6 left) was actually on the wrong thread, & it was referring to the 1,000 Euro comp. I deleted it rather than try & explain what it meant. But although it was only on there half a nanasecond, YOU spotted it.......

Put up with you Ironside? I am DELIGHTED you are still there. And at least there is someone still tuned in!

In fact, I note that we are honoured to be joined at this late hour by no less than The Camel, & Padraig.

I am tempted to delete that Rolandinho. I mean, that's TWO dreadful slurs on the young man's character. Comes from Norwich (that's near Holland), & supports Man Utd? What obstacles he has had to overcome in life, eh?

Kevin Seeger appears to have about 270k.

I am told Kevin made a quite spectacular pass a few minutes ago. He R'd with KK, got RR'd, & called the RR pre-flop. Flop came J-7-3, Matey Boy bet the pot, and Kevin passed -showing KK....... Matey Boy then showed KQ...

This MUST be incorrect, surely......although the gentleman that told me this is a well-respected player, & he said he saw the hand played out. Unbelievable.

Did Jani go out in ninth?

Title: Re: MONTE CARLO - DAY 3
Post by: tikay on March 19, 2005, 01:41:58 AM
Jani Sointula is OUT in 9th place, so we have a TV table.

You have to feel some sympathy for Jani. But he's won his share of comps, & I am told he makes a fortune online under the name of Hellraiser.

OK, we will try & sort the chip counts for you asap.
