Title: Hand advice...how would you play it?
Post by: TightEnd on August 19, 2005, 12:41:56 AM
down to 10 players, money for top 9..£2k to win, £200 for ninth

blinds 300,600 I have 20,000 chips. Chip leader 42,000. I'm probably 5th or so.

five handed table

UTG limps...he limps a lot, and is a calling station post flop...has 23,000 chips

Seat 2 raises to 3000. She is aggressive, has begun to bully table and has 42,000 chips. Doesn't need premium hand to raise

Seat 3 folds

I'm in SB with QQ

What do you tend to do here?

I'm not interested in ninth, just a top three placing

My choices are smooth call, re-raise to say 8-9k or push all-in.

Over to you, results later........

I went all in after a dwell to consider the possibilities

The limper insta calls.

The raiser folds

Limper turns over AK

You know the rest

which got me thinking..smooth call, see a flop and push if no A/k...or was I destined to do my chips in that hand regardless?

Or I smooth call, limper re-raises and I'm racing QQ anyway

tough game!! :)

Hmm, this player that limps a lot, does he calls raises as well with most hands?

I have nowhere near the experience most of you guys have but this is what I would've done. That's probably as good a reason as any for you going AI pre-flop!  :)

without looking at the rest of the answers

u say you want the win,in that case im all in

if u wanted to creep into money then a raise to 10k total and re-evaluate post flop would be good

but yup all in

damn just looked at the date

lol....

I sometimes find these situations tricky.  I'd say I am pushing about 70% of time calling 20% and cranking it upto around 9 - 12k mark the other 10% then pushing on a safe flop. Invariably I always seem to pick the wrong time to push.

What annoys me is when players refuse to believe that their AK is behind or indeed that they may not even be racing against an under pair!

This was Luton pre-Danish, when you had a reasonable expectation of putting someone on a hand.

LOL, I seem to have no problem putting people on hands even now. But getting my 85% fav to stand up, well thats another matter lol

LMHO

and then I started playing there, but if you are looking for a top 3 then you have got to go all in
