Apologies for the slight delay, we're starting to run out of steam here.

Jen is currently tucked up in bed, somewhat under the weather, and I'm dead to the World.

A 14 hour shift, straight to bed and straight up again for another 14 hour shift eventually takes it's toll.

But there are plenty of blondeites still left to come, so we're going to do our utmost to continue bringing updates on their progress.

Okay, let's do this by quadrants.

For some reason, there always seem to be few 'name' players in the bottom left hand quadrant - maybe coincidence, who knows.

Anyway, players spotted in this section include:

Sverre Sundbo
Vicky Coren
Kerry Taylor
Anders Berg
Joe Beevers
Paul Parker
Phil Gordon
Isabelle Mercier (I think)

(from top to bottom)

-- One for the ladies I'm sure - a very cheery Sverre Sundbo of Norway. Please excuse the blurriness of this particular piccy. It takes me a few clicks before I get a non blurry one due to the lack of flash, but sometimes, when they're looking at me with a silly pose, I have to just take what I can otherwise they're just sitting there for ages waiting for me to finish.

I'll have to sneak up on him next time.

-- Looking coooooooool, Mr Joe Beevers. Top man!

-- chatting away as ever, Paul Parker. Happy days!

-- Looking very focused and about ten feet tall (even when seated), Phil Gordon

-- Kevin Moore, a player who I met in Bolton when Steve 'Card Shark' Read won the Poker 6

-- the familiar sight of Trevor Reardon. Apprantly his young lad is here. Not 21 yet, but still having the time of his life, especially with all the norkage on display. Kid and candy shop spring to mind.

Just spoke to Simon Trumper who seems confident, and most importantly perhaps, comfortable with his table. All pretty soft apparantly, except for the guy to his right, but Simon is using this to his advantage.

Simon even used his skill of detecting tells to take a hand of the only decent player on his table.

Simon limped with 6-7 and missed the flop completely - everyone checked.

The turn brought a 7, and three clubs.

Mateyboy to his right looked at his cards (checking to see if he had a club according to Trumper) and then bet out. Simon called, intending to bet the river if Mateyboy missed.

The river was a blank, and MB made what Simon described as a hesitant bet. Simon therefore stuck in a raise (thinking MB had a bigger pair). MB folded and Simon took the pot.

He appears to be in very good spirits indeed.

He informed me that he spoke to Peter Costa and they agreed that the best strategy was to keep the pots small and try to outplay their opponents. Of course, with big pots, comes the bigger influence of luck. I think I'd have to agree with this approach. Unless you hit a monster, keep the pots small and build your stack gradually.

Good luck with the updating, might pop down later to help out when I've finished donating in the online Sunday tournies.

The final quadrant at the top right was rising for a break when I approached, but I did managed to spot TJ Cloutier, Daniel Negreanu, Neil Channing, and David O'Callaghan.

Talking of Irishman David O'Callaghan, he's down to 6.5k after flopping a set of Queens.

He raised preflop, found two callers.

Flop came Queen high with two diamonds.

MB bet 250, Dave made it 1,000 and MB called.

A third diamon fell on the turn, both checked, but David faced a value bet on the river with King and Ten of diamonds that he eventually paid off.

Hi Guys,

Keep up the good work, looks like Andy Massey didn't make it to day 2, but our mate Jamie Mellor is in today so if you could find him and keep me updated on how he's going that'd be great and also Matt "Noseyboy" Osbourne is up today.

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the offer.

The problem is that you won't be able to do anything because, on the occasions where you are allowed into the room, you won't have a press pass so will be unable to get anywhere near the tables or the media room.

But thx for the offers anyhow, much appreciated.

That must be a mistake, it sounds like it. 83k sounds very short. I actually have the official WSOP chip counts on my lap, so I'm going by them.

This guy is the chip leader according to my sheet AND pokerpages.

Hossein Tagh Avi -- 229,125

Maybe you're looking at a chip count from earlier on in the day.

Rob Sherwood has 43,625

I'm sure Rob will confirm that, it sounds as though cardplayer are getting mixed up with some of their chip counts.

Incredibly (!? - ahem), Brian Wilson has already been all-in - but this time he survived.

He flopped a Broadway straight, and by the end, he and his opponent had all the chips in the middle.

Problem was that his opponent had the same hand.

(different suits obviously - otherwise I think the floor may have been called and Brian Wilson's pockets searched.)

Phil Laak has just doubled up.

A-K vs Q-Q

He's still got less than his starting stack though.

Well spotted Dewi.  Hi to all Ben's supporters and friends.  I would be grateful for an update about Ben's current position.  (I am not the MBK !)

Ben's a great player - by boyfriend has a lot of respect for his game (even after ben knocked him out of the ept championship in 14th place!)

Much respect to the Blonde updaters.

They spent the same time reporting on poker as I did playing poker yesterday. The difference was they were standing up and walking around the whole time, whereas I spent all day sitting down. And yet I slept through till 1.30pm today and still feel tired. Snoopy was up way before this and is now scurrying about like a little hamster again.

One of the chip leaders is Norwegian Hans Talstad

To say he's had his fair share of good fortune would be a slight understatement.

First of all he flops a full house with A-7 on an A-7-7 board. Mateyboy with Q-Q moves all-in (?!)

Then he forces a guy with A-Q to fold the same hand as him on an A-rag-rag-rag-Q board

Finally, he busts Pocket Queens when his T-9 on a Ten high flop turns another Ten.

Blimey.

Unfortunately "Team Primates" assault on the 2006 WSOP main event has ended. Down to 8500 chips there was a limp UTG and i look down to see AK in mid position so i make it 500 to go (blinds 100/200). It gets round to the small blind who thinks for a while before reraising to 1500. The original limper folds and its back to me, anyone else at the table then i lay it down but the player in question had made a few "basic" errors and i take him for a medium pair. I think if i just call and miss then i cant call a bet and i'm down to 6500 so i decide to reraise all in. He thinks for a while and at one point actually picked his cards up to muck them but then counted his chips and announced call.

He turns over QQ - board 2-3-9-3-2 and its game over.

Thanks for all the support  ;applause; ;applause;

Trevor Reardon is facing a 1.5k bet on a board of 2s 7d 4h 8h with about 1.5-2k in the pot.

After a lenghty dwell, he opts for the fold.

His chips were mixed up, so it was tricky to see how many he had and I didn't want to ask due to him losing a pot so recently.

I think he has around 6k though.

Just heard from blondeite Dale.

He's on 14k, but was up to 18 at one point.

He just had to lay down pocket Jacks on a raggy board due to over-eagerness shown by his opponent.

He says it's a tight table, meaning he's been able to build his stack gradually.

Well, I won't lie, they do manage to get a lot more precise info regarding specific hands, but that's too be expected when they are so large in number and can update at ringside.

Hopefully the less formulaic and mechanical descriptions we give on blonde, not to mention the ability to interact, is of interest to you guys.

Just to let you know how it's going down at Negreanu's table.

He's pretty much playing every hand, and his table seems incredibly meek.

except for this one guy, who is doing the extreme with the view that 'If I don't play any flops with him I can't be outplayed'. A Kill Phil strategy I suppose. I don't get it personally, but this is what happened.

Daniel raised from Trap 2 for 500 (blinds 100/200) Mateyboy on the button moves all-in for 7.5k (!!)

Guess what, Daniel folded. Could be a frustrating day if every does that and Daniel doesn't pick up any hands.

Anyhow, he's doing well with 22,900

Jennifer Harman survives after moving her shortstack all-in against Mateyboy.

Both players turned over Pocket Jacks.

good luck all in Vegas.
As much as I feel for all you guys who have not made it to day 2 I cannot have too much sympathy. Better to have experienced it, enjoyed it and still have days remaining in Vegas  ;letsparty; than to be here, having had an awful day at the tables, raining and having work to look forward to tomorrow.
All the best for the rest of your trip.

The Orleans told us that we'd have to move rooms by the 30th, but it seems they don't have too many available. I'm sure they'll be able to sort us out though.

Sitting just two seats away from one another are Phil Cooklin (regular Luton player - TightEnd should know him well) and MAd Marty Wilson's half (apologies, not sure of the forename).

Anyhow, the former has 11,325 and the latter has 12,250

Goooo Phil - we have only been hearing for the last 2 months that he was going to the WSOP!!

air conditioning is very good in the Rio. Earlier on in the week when it wasn't so busy, I had to where my hoodie too.

Sometimes when the crowd pound in, it can get a little heated, but I can't complain when it's oven-like outside.

Walking anywhere is a definite no-no

I heard Brunson's grandson was playing yesterday, which would make three generations of Brunsons. Think they can fiti n a fourth before Doyle retires?

For those who don't know, although surely you jest, this is Paul Parker.

Perhaps with Matusow gone, he should adopt the moniker 'The Mouth'

Or maybe, taking a look at all that red, he'd be more suited to 'Peter Parker'

Unlucky to Monkey Matt on his exit - your first big confrontation is the key to setting up your tournament. If it doesn't go your way you're either out or short stacked enough to change your game plan. Win it and life becomes a lot easier.

Just had a look through the full list of seating arrangements for Day 2. It turns out the guy on my table who has more chips than me is not some unknown bloke after all, but Allen Cunningham...

I know a degree of nepotism exists on this site, and I appreciate the (1!?) updaters have a difficult job( and they're good journalists) . But this is the WSOP MAIN EVENT. tHE BIGGEST EVENT IN POKER, EVER - Call yourselves a major player on the PokerWebsite scene but this is a joke.

1 person updating (whos gone for a curry) - Don't pretend this is a good updating service. You guys should of been better prepared, thers's an awful lot of people logged on in the UK for info and we're just not getting it.

Who's playing? who's out? Chip counts? Incidents? Exit quotes? ....................................

This is the BIGGEST EVENT EVER IN POKER. We get a more informed uodate for A £300 event @ Luton.

Wooooah there buddy - if you want an out of date service go and read the card player site who are publishing players exits who are still playing.

Blonde do a great job, on a shoestring, and report on the people who matter to us....

Unfortunately the WSOP have decided that Cardplayer is the official reporting service and at all games they get first look, allowed closer to the table etc etc. Despite that they still manage to get it wrong.

I've done some updating for blonde and it's bloody hard work, if the money was there to fly out a dozen updaters then there would be plenty of volunteers who would have done it for free.

Hats off to Jen and Snoopy who have so far exceeded my expectations with their hard work and stamina. The press room couldn't be further from the card room if they tried, and getting round that many tables is a days work in itself.

Try it first before criticising, then your constructive comments would be welcome.

Just spoke to Kevin Moore AKA Azimut...

Limped in with 44, flop  2d 4c 8c with 3 people in the hand, went for a trap, all checked turn came  Js guy bet 400, he called, river  Jh guy bet 1600, Kevin now has a full house, thought about it and thought he was beat so flat called, guy showed  Jc 2c so managed to avoid a big loss.

I agree They do a great job, no a fantastic job - I just think Blonde as a whole should of prepared better, to provide a decent service on such a tournament.

No criticism of the updater(s) at all meant.

We get a more informed uodate for A £300 event @ Luton.

the players are on a 90 minute break so the updater has gone on one too as there is nothing to report no one in seats so they can get chip counts

also blonde isnt doing live updates for the main event due to restrictions on access to the floor snoops and jen are only doing the day 1s as a bonus

there is 200 tables basically we would need a team of 20 updaters to give the service we give at luton and then we would need to get press access that cardplayer magazine has restricted

Hello Puzzler000 and welcome to Blonde.

As Dingdell said, the problems are two fold. 1) the size of the thing and 2) the fact Cardplayer paid to be the official media reporters and have lots of updaters covering the arena (the vast majority of which have done no updating of this kind before and so get things wrong).

What Snoopy and Jen do try and provide is coverage of the British players (which Cardplayer only do if your name starts with Devil and ends with Fish). I think they do a tremendous service given the circumstances, which is provided to you, dear Puzzler000, for the princely sum of zero pounds.

As an example of the fantastic service Cardplayer provides, at the end of play last night we were asked to write our hometown on our chip bags so Cardplayer could include the info on the updates. I wrote 'LONDON, ENGLAND' on my chip bag.

Here's my page at Cardplayer - http://www.cardplayer.com/players/results/Andrew_Tracey/44644 (http://www.cardplayer.com/players/results/Andrew_Tracey/44644)

Before criticising I recommend asking questions. Had you asked what had been done and what was possible you may now be saying what a miracle it was that the updating is as good as it is. Card player have got unrestricted acess, we are only allowed a small number of reporters.

Card player are also well funded, have magazine sales etc. Blonde? No magazines, no subs. Where does the money come from to send updaters to Vegas? Not from us, the readers, so think on before criticising. They are working long hours, sleeping under tables sometimes to get 10 mins, and none of it could have been improved on unless there was a bigger budget and the WSOP/Card player changed their reporting policies.

Whether it's a criticism or an observation it had to be said. I know Jen and Snoopy do a great job. I just think Blonde as a whole should of given them some support. What happens on other sites is irrelevant to my point....If you know for sure that Blonde does not posess the funds to give a better service then I have to respect your informed opinion, - End of beef

You're missing the point.

With the exception of ESPN and CardPlayer, they restrict the number of media passes you can have.

Without this pass, you can't get anywhere near the tables or the media room.

Funds aside, this policy limits our man power.

There is nothing we can do about that.

Ive witnessed first hand the unfavourable conditions that jen and snoops have to deal with in order to update from the circus more commonly known as the world series of poker. They work exceptionally hard and more often than not provide a more accurate report then the cardplayer staff who to me just seem to be a on social outing, occasionally doing some work if they spot a 'name' player.

When i went deep in the 5k, no-one at home would have even known if it wasnt for blonde. Cardplayer didnt give a flying fcuk who i was because they didnt know me and hardly any of my hands got mentioned. Once i made it to the last 18, one of the workers asked my name and took my chip count, they managed to mis-spell my name. Even once i made the final and my full name was written on my chips, another information form and given to another cardplayer member of staff it still appears incorrectly on their website.

If you want half-assed updates about some of the celebrity players go to cardplayer, if you want informative updates about a lot of the UK players, most of whom are members here, fused with the wit of jen and snoopy then its BLONDE all the way.

Combining these two topics, Vicky C was down last night with Neil Channing and came over to have a quick chat with Devilfish (who was on a table behind me). After all the artificiality on display from the Vegas promo girls, it was refreshing to see a good, honest, English bosom.

And as soon as I go in, I run into an interesting Mateyboy hand.

They even had their chips still in racks!

With a flop of 8h 5d 8d, the lad in the white hoodie bets 800, Mateyboy (Seat 9) - whit shirt, blue jeans makes it 2.6k, leaving the fellow in Seat 1 (black shirt, shades on head, standing) to move all-in.

White hoodie fellow also moves all-in, leaving the other player with, what he considered to be, a tough call.

He eventually folded, leaving Seat 1 to turn over Jh Th and white hoodie guy to reveal the huge vision of 3h 8d

Turn = 2d

River - Kc

And Seat 1 was gone

Brilliant Performance in the 5k Pab.

I repeat, I know Snoopy and Jen do a great job...and I undersatnd its difficult to get close to the action...and ALL players performances should be reported on.

At The break then, It would be a great opportunity to get chip counts (of the Blondes) if you like...who is on their table? have  they played/observed any interesting hands? How are they feeling.....etc......

Kerry Taylor (below - second player back) is OUT

All-in preflop for his last 2.5k against two Americans, one of which is pictured below (foreground)

Flop = 2s 8h 5d

The player pictured bet 2k, opponent called.

Turn = Tc

The player pictured bet 3k and took the pot with Pocket Tens.

A disappointed Kerry Taylor flipped over Pocket Jacks.

blondeite Dale clashes with Mark Seif.

Board = 9h 3c Ahrt 7c Tc

Dale bets out 2.2k on the River.

Mark Seif makes a brisk call with Td 8d

He got rid of them quickly, but I think Dale had K-9 (definitely a King)

On taking the pot, Seif comments, "desperate people do desperate things" - which  considered to be a bit of an uncalled for rubdown.

Dale is down to 12,050

I have not, in fact, done a great job today, apart from sleeping (which I did rather well, for once).  I almost never get involved in such discussions of improvement/constructive criticism, but I feel that this belongs on another thread, not the one where Snoopy, at least, has done the job of five or six people today.  If anyone is in a position to know for certain that the funds of blonde do not extend to a proper 'team' it would be me, and I would like to assure you that we are doing the best we can in circumstances that could best be described as 'challenging.'

Have you ever attended the World Series? >>>>     http://www.antesup.com/images/wsop06wide.jpg

The 'Chip count during dinner break' would mean (a) no dinner and (b) remembering from 150+tables the exact seating position of every player, most of whose names we have no way (other than politely asking them) of ascertaining.

We are aware of the limitations of the service we provide, but in answer to the question "Is anything further possible?"  The answer remains, for the present moment, at least, "No."

Nick 'Gwibbo' Gibson, cheerful as ever despite having been ill and room-bound for the couple of days preceding today.  We have a theory that the Europeans are suffering particularly due to the extremes of temperature over here.  And the air-con which might be circulating germs (I have a fairly sore throat and stuff, myself).

It's certainly got to me - it's the air conditioning (particularly the circulated air on the flight over). I've spent all of today holed up in my hotel room trying to get over a chest infection. I'm trying to kill it with pizza and ersatz champagne.

And why is it that when there are hundreds of tables, we often seem to get two we know on the same one?  As I was snapping Joe Beevers, Henning Granstad took his table's empty seat. saying, "I'm a shortstack..."  True - 8,600 isn't a lot, but it might be fun to go and watch that one some more.  Like the cameraman standing behind the unwitting Mr. Granstad.

would just like to say if u go into the rio  and look for someboday it takes a miracle  , to walk through the room  it takes an age  ,  to criticise  something that people do as a labor of love   rather than a monetary benefit   in what is basically a thankless task and to be honest  for two people to cover an event of this size for 14 hours a day  is a remarkable feat in itself  , take as an example the likes of betfair and go and see the coverage they do and u will realise the extent of their achievment

From what I undertsand, people could challenge him to a heads-up contest.

Saw this guy wandering between the tables - Azzy Asghar, another one of those press/player types.  He informed me that he'd actually played this Day One, and busted with a fairly unpleasant JJ vs. 77 (which four-flushed to send him packing).  He didn't seem at all disheartened, in fact heading right back between the tables with his press pass to keep an eye on the action.  Personally, I would have been on the New York New York rollercoaster five or six times by this point, and be heading to a bar.  But no, he's happy to still be in the Rio - "You win some, you lose some - it wasn't my day."

About turn for Nick Gibson - well, just some slight damage, actually - just saw him playing a button-holding Matey on a board of 2c 6d Aspades 6h.  Check, Matey bets what looks like a couple of thousand.  Call from Nick.
River: 4h   Nick checks, Matey moves in for his last 5,550 exactly (pot size around 4k).  A quick call from Nick.

Matey shows the clearly unexpected 6c 7c, and Nick mucks - he's down to around 17,000.

Definitely the mullet, although Brian would win the "Fashion Violator of the Day" prize.  George Danzer told us that he'd seen a picture of himself on another blog, with that title!  I think it was his scarf and headphones combo, although to be honest there are lots of worse Fashion Violators in the room.  Still not sure how I'd feel about being given that award...

Neil 'Bad Beat' Channing is currently on 8,775

He retold a hand in which he called a button raise from the blind with Q-J suited.

The three players involved checked the J-J-9 flop.

Mateyboy in earliy (ish) position bets 1.3k on the Ten turn and the button (original raiser) makes it 4k.

Neil decides to fold his trip Jacks, the button shows K-Q for the straight.

Earlier chipleader (and probably still retaining it, to be honest) is William Thorson.  Thought I'd better get a pic of him, as you might well be seeing a bit more of him.  John McGrane found me in the crowd and asked who the "Scandinavian guy in red" was - he'd played with him before, and described him, respectfully, I think, as "an aggressive ba****d"

How are they feeling.....etc......

end of beef 2

So you would grudge the poor beagle a meal so you can get chip counts??

Ask Snoopy nicely and i am sure he will do his best to get you a chip count for just about any player.

I don't envy the job snoops and jen do, it must be very hard.  I seen what it was like for some of the folk trying to update at the blondebash it was a nightmare and that only involved 60 players at a time i would hate to try and be updating on 2178 players or whatever it was.

I don't know about Mateyboy, Kev, but I remember somewhere back in the mists of time someone asked for a Chris Moorman update:

Saw him in the break (which I was actually using to collar players ;)     )
He said he'd been playing against John Gale a good bit - which resulted in a loss, a tilt, and a win, like this:
He held 8c 8s, and raised (he raises a lot, by the way).  John Gale called.  Flop:  4 5 6, which Chris quite liked, but he check-called John's bet.  The turn brought a Jack, and this time John bet bigger, while Chris made what he called "a stubborn call, figuring the bigger bet meant he may have hit the Jack."
River:  Ace, which slowed John down with his J9.

Result:  A tilted Moorman, who raised even more.  Then another pair of Eights came his way, and John Gale called his inevitable raise.
Flop: 4c 3c 3s  Chris bet out three quarters of the pot, John called.
Turn:  Ts   Again, Chris bet and got called.
River:  Ks  Now Chris checked, and got a chunky 3,600 bet from John.  Not scared of the backdoored flush, he called, and was rewarded by seeing John's losing busted flush draw - Ac 6c.

He's on around 18k.

Bhups Kohli is playing today - after his success in previous events it bodes well for his rocky style this early on in the Big One... he's created a nice solid image for himself over the last six hours, and built up to 30k while doing so.

He said that earlier, "everyone was after the table maniac's chips."
"So who got them?" I asked.
"I did!"
And how did it happen?  Well, apparently a raising-happy guy made it 250 to go (blinds 25/50) - the same raise he'd made when he'd found legitimately huge hands in the past.  Bhups had Qd Qh and decided to "call, and if no Queen on the flop, get out of the way." He'd already open-folded pocket Queens preflop before, so I believe this was his intention.  The big blind (chip leader) also called, and the flop came:  Qh 9h Jc.

ProbableAcesMatey bet out 1,000, and not liking the chip leader being in there with those draws, Bhups raised another 3k.  The chip leader got out of the way, and Matey went for it- all in with Ac Ad.

If you're wondering what happened to Nick Gibson's stack, it was sliced in half when he checked top pair A-K on an Ace-rag-6 flop, thereby allowing 6-7 on the button to catch up when the Turn brought a 6.

Quote from Nick: "I haven't learnt my lesson from last year"

Chris Moorman is OUT.

He raised with A-J in early position only to find two callers, one of whom was nicely chipped up.

Chris bet 2.4k on the A-Q-2 flop, Mateyboy called.

Jack hit the turn and Chris check raised all-in only to find his oppoent sitting there with Pocket Deuces.

Brian Wilson has moved all-in with Pocket Fours, Eights and Nine. Each time they went uncontested, but he's given railbird Cupcake three heart attacks.

Simon Trumper doubled up his shortstack when he moved all-in with Pocket Nines.

"I hope we're racing," said Simon to his opponent.

To his delight, Mateyboy flipped a lowly Pocket Fives and Simon's hand stood up.

From 27k to 1k, and now back up to 7k.

"I never tilt," he cliams.

Bumped into a sheepish looking Chris in the hallway, who says he doesn't know what to do for the next week... I think the disappointment will  wear off by tomorrow, and the fact that he's swimming in poker take over...

Well .. thats not good enough snoppy, what did you do in the break ??  did you hoover the main arena ? did you personally walk every competitor to the toilet so you could get their name and their chipcount ??  Did you empty all of the bins and sweep the tables free of dandruff ??

I seriously hope you didnt use the break to grab a coffee and kick your flip flops off for 5 minutes ...heaven forbid !!!

Ps. Is Mateyboy still in ?

;applause; ;applause; for the beagle for holding the fort this morning - we're going to do more of a shift system type deal tomorrow so he can fully recharge.

There would definitely be nap-gaps in the continuity of all of our WSOP reports were it not for the stamina of the Snoopy.  I can't thank him enough.  But I'm still his boss, and if I say "time off for sleeping," it's time off for sleeping!   ;yellowcard;

Bhups also told me about his recent "Christmas present" - wildly deciding to go out on a limb and raise to 600 with Aspades Qs when a perpetual limper limped one time too many, he found the button calling instead.  But he flopped the nut flush, which was nice.
He bet it out (I like that) and ButtonMatey raised.  Now crossing his fingers that the button had called with some speculative smaller spades, he called, and at this point I can't read my notes, or remember exactly what he told me, but he'd got so much of his stack in by the turn, that he bet the river all-in blind.
ButtonMatey called with Js 8s and a solid 30k is being maintained.

This nice lady, introduced to me as Chase, won her seat in a bizarre last minute battle of the single tables at a party at Antonio Esfandiari's house.  It's a long story as to how I got there (via a hummer limo, no less) but the knockout satellite took place on these new-fangled electronic live tables.  Imagine a flat TV screen in the middle of a poker table, with little screens in front of each player.  No dealer, just like online, but live - using touch screens (your hole cards are only revealed when you cup your hands over the screen - some kind of sensor 'bends' them up when you shade it).

Anyway, a whole bunch of people gave this unexpected freeroll a shot, and she won it!  Rooting for her.

It's taken me two cups of coffee to read through all these pages of truly fantastic updates.

Great pictures too. I'm really going to miss these when you guys come home but you must be absolutely cream-crackered and in need of a holiday. I don't think either of you two will be allowed to pay for any drinks for a long long time when you get home.

It's late in the day, and time to award my Climber of the Day Prize!

And it goes to....Richard Gryko (hello Mother Of Richard - he knows you've been up all night)

Last spotted on a different table with a small hill of green and black chips (c.24,000), he's now got foundations of yellows (1k) which put him in contention for the chip leader for day 1c with 120,000+.  No wonder he looks more awake than most of his table.

And with half an hour or so of play left today, there's just time to whip round getting a few late-nite photos and counts before it's time to dodge the taxi queue.  Still fairly heaving here, with spectators actually getting a chance to get up to the rail now and get an overview of the remaining 960 players.

Finally snapped ex-Fashion Violator George Danzer, who at the time I thought was challenging the top stacks, with over 70k.  Still, not bad, considering what's happened to him in some of the other tourneys this Series.  He's not dwindled once, and has such an aggressive game that that's not likely to happen.

And I can hear the OverVoice in the Amazon Room telling all spectators to Please Vacate the Area, which means it's nearly chip bagging time.  I'll be doing the early bit tomorrow, as I'm escaping in the evening - but generally shifts aren't the best way to deal with huge fields, unless they're shifts of two.  But needs must, and I'll get the accurate counts for all your favourites when they magically appear in the Press Room tomorrow.

A round of applause just broke out audible from the Press Cave, as the Voice tells the happy gamblers that they've Made Day Two!  Congratulations to them all, and good night.

Ordinarily I would have legged it at this point, but I was waylaid by Brian 'The Rookie' Wilson, whose story is amusing enough to make the cab wait worthwhile...

He's worked back up to 30,000 at the last minute, "playing the best No Limit Hold'em of my life' and then when it got down to the final hands of the night, dropped the F-bomb, received his ten-minute penalty and said, "Thank God for that - now I can't give them back at the end of Day One!"

His moves in the last level included re-re-raising all-in preflop to push someone off Aspades Kc (they got shown 6d 4d for their troubles) and just basically going on the tear.  Now they're reassigning seats, and I'll try to catch up with him when he emerges, any minute.

Good Night, Take II.

A big thank you to both Jen n Snoops for undoubtedly the best updating anywhere on the net. It should not be forgotten that they face very difficult conditions and have been working very long shifts. Once again Blonde has shown themselves to the best on the net. Its such a shame that Harrah's in their wisdom see fit to basically give that shoddy american outfit Cardplayer almost exclusive rights, their coverage with over 20 reporters has been dismal to say the least. Long may Blonde continue to update tournaments around the world so us stay at homers can get a real feel of the atmosphere.

3 Cheers for Jen n Snoops...............

Wow, another epic & extraordinary Update by Lady Jen & Lord Sloppy. As Karabiner rightly says, these two will never, never ever, be able to buy a drink in any European Casino. WHAT a cheer they will get at bB3!

My heartfelt thanks to both of them.

As to Mr Puzzler....well now. The blondes know I'm generally pretty polite, especially to our Members. And even for you Mr Puzzler, I will not make an exception. So I say to you, politely, & in a civil tone. If you don't like, or appreciate, the work that Jen & Sloppy do, I suggest you read someone else's Updates. blonde receive no income for providing Live Updates, & it's cost a packet to have our Updaters out there. Jen & snoops barely get paid - hour for hour, it's way below the Minimum Wage. Have you ever tried Updating? No, you have not. Believe me, it's mind-blowingly tough in a 100 runner comp. How many runners are there here? I'm as tough as old boots, but it damn near killed me last year, when Jen & I shared the WSOP load.

We told the blondes, way in advance, that we would only be able to offer a restricted service from Vegas. You never noticed, because you were not around. Because you only joined blonde today, presumably so you could follow the action, for free.

I, (& I suspect the rest of the blonde Community), am not prepared to have their hard work denegrated by your ill-timed & uninformed comments. So if you don't like it, I suggest you go elsewhere.

Have a good day.

Great job again folks.  I still want to see one of those pedometer readouts, jen or snoops.  I still go for three miles.

Puzzler, there really is no need for those comments.  We are fortunate to be members of a friendly free community here at Blonde.  The updates, pics and reporting allows us at home to get a sense of what it must feel like to be there playing.  I am sure that there are other sites doing a great job with the updating also, but my choice will always be Blonde.  On other sites, there isn't the focus given to forum members ( M3, Pabs, Matt, etc ) and other known British players. I like this aspect of Snoops and Jens updates.  From what I have seen, other sites concentrate on the big names like Hellmuth and Negreanu too much.  Blonde update us on Brits, forum members and the superstar players.  Long may the Blonde updates continue  :)up

Thank heavens for Puzzler000, so many helpful, constructive points to consider. Take note Jen and Snoopy

1: You must stop calling yourselves a major player on the PokeWebrsite scene. I can't actually find an instance where you have done this, but Mr Puzzler has over 3 posts to his credit, so he must be right.

2: This is the WSOP MAIN EVENT. tHE BIGGEST EVENT IN POKER, EVER.
No, it doesn't matter that everyone else thinks the updates are fantastic, rather than go elsewhere, Mr Puzzler has decided that he wants to use this site to keep him abreast of developments, so you now have to conform to his exacting standards.

3: Become more people. although Mr Puzzler chose to use a site with only two updaters, he doesn't like it. Perhaps we could all chip in and pay for some more updaters. Remember, Mr Puzzler doesn't have to come here, he could go to CardPlayer and complain about 20 people

4: A fairly obvious one this guys, DON'T SLEEP, DON'T EAT! (especially curry) Be better prepared. Eat and sleep a lot before you go.

5: There are a lot of people logged on in the UK. Yes I know they say the updates are fantastic, but only Mr Puzzler has the courage to tell you that they are a joke, that alone deserves some credit. I mean to say, he went to the effort of clicking his mouse and everything

6: Who's playing? who's out? Chip counts? Incidents? Exit quotes? Don't give us that old chestnut about there being 6,000 runners, limited access etc etc. A good updater would give us every bit of the information requested by Mr P on every last one of them.

7: This is the BIGGEST EVENT EVER IN POKER. We get a more informed update for A £300 event @ Luton. What Mr Puzzler is saying here is, it should be EASIER to update the biggest event ever in poker, not harder.

Come on guys, you have to do better, otherwise Mr Puzzler just might go elsewhere!

Wakey wakey Mikky! Jen & snoops have got no chance of buying a drink, because the blondes will be queuing up to buy drinks for them. I may even let sloppy wear my clothes, he aches to have my street-cred..

Yup, just re-read karabiners post. I hereby declare my thickness lol

Seconded.....

Seriously, as my very good friend Red-Dog told me this morning when I was champing at the bit, (he owns me I sometimes think), we do need  to keep it polite. The blonde way.

As an infrequent poster but constant lurker, I have to add my word of gratitude to Jen & Snoops (& Blonde).  Over the past few nights I've been channel-hopping between here and Card Player, but my visits to the American site have become less and less frequent, for the simple reason that their coverage is dull.  When I read Blonde's coverage, I get a real sense of being in the thick of the action madness; the humour, the pics, the interaction online; it's all fabulous!

Keep up the splendid work folks, but please try and eat/sleep properly!

Mr Martian - can I call you Martian? - hits the nail on the head, & obviously understands what blonde Updates are about. An evenings fun, amusement, laughs, a few quizzes, pictures, interaction (above all), a way of having an evening's fun, & keeping abreast of the blondes performance. Players Mums & Dads & family know who to ask if they want info on their beloveds.  And the blondes know that Jen has that really cranky way of writing, new words daily, while the beagle is, well, Mr Macho Man, with a subtle & zany sense of humour.

Those that want the "pure" Update, can either go to the "At A Glance", or the "serious" sites. blonde is, & will remain, poker with a smile. Thats all we ever set out to be.

I wrote to Jen & sloppy today, & asked them to give it a rest, take a break, but the pair of them are as stubborn as stubborn can be. Jen has to fly to California for a day or two on a private matter, so sloppy will be solo. I am sure the blondes will understand.

A perfect answer and long may the fun updates continue, just a shame that towards the end of the main event we wont be able to feel like we are there amongst hopefully a few blondites on the final table. Long may Blonde continue with its live updates and allow us to inject our thoughts into the updates thread.

Spoony will be solo? A superstar in my book!

PS. Tikay, I think a bandana wouldnt look too good on you, you might not be able to tie it properly. I suggest you go for a zandana. Its much like a bandana when worn, but its "ready fit" - its actually a hat that looks like a bandana. If that makes sense?

For me their coverage is miles better than Card Player, I especially enjoy seeing pics of all the players out there, it gives you a better feel for what is going on out there without a doubt. Good luck to all the Brits that are left in lets get someone at that final table this year!!!

But wont the arthritis in your hands prevent you from tying those fiddly knots.

Plus, zandanas are more hip.

Hi,

First post here, I must say I'm really impressed with your hard work.

Presumably pab (and Dave aka sexygee) play tomorrow?

Charmaine, I have always been inspired by Paul's online play and had the pleasure of meeting him in Cardiff earlier this year. He's a true gent. When you speak to him please send him my regards.

It's also great to hear about players doing well from your local, e.g. Doc.

Keep up the good work
Phil
Thank you for your kind words coat , am going to text Paul your good wishes  :)

And a very warm welcome to Blonde  :hello:
