He reraised, well... a big column.

But it didn't matter, both opponents folded up like cheap suitcases.

I was sure Mallu was messing around, but he smugly reveals Pocket Kings.

Young Simon Renoldi, supershortstack, just climbed to the dizzy heights of 6,000 after his Aspades 4d beat Iwan Jones Qc Kh.  Two fours arrived, incidentally.

Iwan, meanwhile, is up to 16,000 which in his own words sets him up to be "a contender."

Dave Clark made it 4k in mid position, while Paul Alterman re-raised on the button (a lot - committing himself for his whole 25k).  Short stack Womble on the small blind looked at one card and took the plunge.  Dave folded, and Womble said, "I have one overcard to your Tens..." showing the Ad.

Paul King sticks in 6k from the cut-off, prompting Ash Hussain to move his entire stack in from the button.

King doesn't fancy placing his tournament life on the line at this point in the comp and opts for the fold.

Unlike Taylor in the previous post, Ash doesn't reveal his hand.

Dave Taylor, after a valiant series of blind-taking all-ins, finally got called by Dave Clark's Th Td.  And the quads fairy smiled upon him, too - knocking Taylor out in the process.

Sid Harris has doubled up!

All-in preflop for 23,300 with Aspades Jc

Unfortunately for Sid, Mark 'Monkey' Harris is seated next door with Pocket Queens (Qc Qh) and makes the call.

The 5s Jc 8s flop gives Sidney a few more outs.

No jack on the 6s Turn...

but the 4s River gives the underdog a flush.

Sid wins the battle of the Harris's (or Harri) with a gut-wrenching River, leaving Monkey Harris to hold his head in his hands, absolutely devestated.

Sid rises to 46,000, whilst Mark drops right down to the poltry sum of 1,500.

Ouch, gotta hurt at this stage in the competition.

And with that, the final two tables are being redrawn...

Mallu turns over the somewhat speculative hand of 2h 2c and punches the air in delight as a Deuce hits the flop.

Just to rub salt in wounds, the Jack arrives on the River.

Another bites the Mallu dust.

So we are still able to see likkle Mallu, the yellow 5k chips have been brought into play, making a lot easier for us to count Alli's incredible 258k stack.

I think he may be the current chip-leader...

Tracy DingDell has gone on the offensive (quite right too at this juncture) - raising raisers without calls - except that one against Patten where she doubled through.  Just now Alan Dean raised under the gun to 7,000, and she raised him a suspicious 10k more.  He wasn't biting, and passed; she showed him Aspades Ahrt...

After a limp from Lalit, Alan on the button (a bluesquare qualifier, incidentally) pushed in for around 60k.  A pretty solid player, I was surprised to find Tracey on the big blind pushing straight in over the top.  Lalit got right out of the way, and they showed:

No help for an unlucky Mr. Dean who just ran into a monster (the Kings, not the lovely Tracey).  Getting near the final now... chip counts coming.

Well no one answered the ads

I've got to say the action, even with Mallu and Courtney with many of the chips, has slowed right down.  Blinds are currently 1,500/3,000 so I'm guessing the pressure is being felt most acutely by Rumit.

One pot which got to showdown involved Lalit Khajuria on the button, and big blind Ali Mallu.  On a board of 10 K 6 6 10 (so either way there was a rivered Ten) I saw Ali picking up a 16k pot, .showing Td Qh, and Lalit shaking his head.  Still smiling, though.

Got to say looks like a really good structure and dcent pay structure lets hope its played out in full with no deals.

Just in case you were wondering, and I'm sure you all were, David Courtney from Enfield runs a carpet fitting business.

After about a half hour of raise-y pass-y stuff, Ash has a go, raising to 9k.  Luke Patten flat calls in position and the blinds get out of the way.
Flop:  7d 5d 2c   Ash immediately moves in for his 40-odd thousand, and Luke calls (or, more precisely, plonks in a big old stack of yellows in a confident fashion).
Fair enough, he shows Ad Ahrt, while Ash's 5h 6h isn't without hope...
Turn:  2d  Now less hopeful
River:  Td  And all hope fades as Luke hits the nut flush.

So Ash Hussain is the 9th place finisher, winning £4,300

Typical, it's quiet for two hours and then they all go bonkers... and it's mainly Rumit's doing.

Firstly, having built back to 44k he pushed under the gun with Aspades Qc.  Paul King in the cutoff, similarly stacked, called with 9s 9d.  An Ace on the turn knocked Paul down to just 7k.  So you think he might have finished 7th, right?

WRONG

Two of the precious five hands left to Paul went by, and on the second, Dave Clark made it 20k to go (a third of his stack).  Rumit in the small blind said that fateful phrase, "How much are you playing?" before pushing all in.  He covered Dave, and when the call was made these were the hands:
Dave showed:  Aspades Qh
Rumit showed:  Ac Kh.

Which made Dave Clark the 7th place finisher winning £5,800

So Paul King makes a move then?  No - there kicks off a massive battle of the blinds between Luke Patten (small blind) and Ali Mallou.  Raise, re-raise, an "I don't believe you" re-re-raise and they're on their backs.

I have to say that Reddogs chat this week at Luton was the start of it, and on Saturday I made my mind up to go and play and left work early to play the satellite, I won on second attempt and over an early dinner contemplated cashing in my ticket for £1500.

The reason I didn't cash the ticket was because I remembered Not Gus Hansen from Luton nearly doing the same thing earlier this year, and I thought it was worth having a go - it's all a learning experience - and it's not often I get to play with this quality of player. Also my boyfriend was playing and I didn't have a lift home  :blonde:

For two days I have repeated reddogs words in my head and played a solid game. At Luton so many people were rooting for me that it gave me amazing confidence and focus.

Sitting next to Paul Jackson for the first day and part of the second was really funny, I suspect (!)  he had read blonde as everytime someone raised me he told me it was because I was a woman!! Between him and Paul King I had the best poker education anyone could ask for over 2 days. They kept me on the straight and narrow and had a very calming affect. I was very lucky to have had the benefit of their advice.

On the final table I was stuggling with Ali Mallu who seems to have an automatic requirement to raise every hand (or so it seemed). Taking Jens advice (that girl is a genius) on the third occasion I stopped being overawed by him and came over the top. He had to fold, and after that folded a lot more hands.  8)

When there were three of us left the chop discussion came up. I was chip leader but an offer of better than 2nd for everyone and play for the rest (after a quick discussion with Tighty and Sninatras - the backup team) seemed a good compromise. I have to say that I was dissapointed in myself for not playing it out without a deal, I wanted to WIN but the financial logic won over and in the end was the best result for me.

I didn't play after the deal any differently than before and I am only gutted that I was beaten by the infamous blonde 4 7 which was just a cruel poetic justice thing!!

The financial reward has only just kicked in. I reverted to being a woman immediately after the game and had to blub in the toilets (and later in front of Jen and Dina) just to get the adrenalin/disappointment/excitement or whatever it was out of my system.

I had had so many people coming up to me during the breaks, all the waitresses, players I have never seen before and loads of Luton players, all gunning for me to win that I was overwhelmed by the support. Everytime I looked up from the table there was another person catching my eye and telling me to win.

I was genuinely devastated not to finish first, I had talked myself into winning, and to be pipped at the post was horrible, but an hour or so later with a cheque in my handbag, and a shopping trip planned for Saturday I am extremely happy!  8)

A big thank you to everyone who works in the card room, they were great, almost as disappointed as I was that it wasn't a local win, but it was amazing for me to play with some great players.


Never before have I experienced so much genuine support and good wishes, when Jen told me that people were rooting for me on the forum I was really touched, and it kept that competitive spark going, knowing that people were following the play. Tighty, Tikay, Jen, Snoopy and Kev were brilliant, although I was there on my own I never felt alone.  :)up

I'm about to unpack my trophy  ;D open the baileys and wake up tomorrow wondering if it really happened. When the boyfriend asks for his 10% I'll remember it did!

Down to earth with a bang, first bottom in tomorrow at 9, but I have a feeling that without the help of alcohol I won't sleep much between now and then!

Having had a nights sleep I ask myself what was i disappointed with??!
Lots of emotions last night but in the cold light of day I came third and it was for me an amazing achievement. £30K is fab for me, helps pay the mortgages, so I'm sorry for being a bit precious! I'm now very very happy!

Fantastic win for such a lovely " Lady Of Poker", You played well and have been rewarded , remember at one of the breaks i said to you that the best advice is not to take any and play the game the your way, and the result was stunning.

I was playing in the £100 Frezeout ( which i sadly anted out myself in 7th place) And said to Lee barber that i wished i was the other side of the screen playing on the final table in the £1500 on that final table,well maybe next time the poker gods will look down on me LOL

Well done again keep flying that luton flag wherever you play as you are a worthy winner and whats more it proves that the "nicest" people of poker can also win !!
