Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: GlasgowBandit on August 13, 2006, 03:19:02 PM Action packed start.
Who do we all think is going to win this? I reckon Ash Hussain might be the bet Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 03:19:36 PM And the hot early action continues...
Arshad Hussain raises to 3.7k from Trap 2, D Taylor smoothcalls a couple more seats along, only for Alli Mallu to make a deep reach from the Big Blind. He reraised, well... a big column. But it didn't matter, both opponents folded up like cheap suitcases. I was sure Mallu was messing around, but he smugly reveals Pocket Kings. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 03:19:55 PM Young Simon Renoldi, supershortstack, just climbed to the dizzy heights of 6,000 after his Aspades 4d beat Iwan Jones Qc Kh. Two fours arrived, incidentally.
Iwan, meanwhile, is up to 16,000 which in his own words sets him up to be "a contender." Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 03:21:33 PM Action packed start. Who do we all think is going to win this? Meanwhile, Alan McLean and Xanthos Bambos have bitten the dust. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 03:47:55 PM Preflop action result in D Taylor and Lalit K seeing an expensive flop.
Both check the 7c Tc 6c board. Taylor then 4k bets the Qd Turn and Lalit calls after a momentary dwell. River = 7s Taylor checks the table hard, Lalit bets 10k and Taylor calls. Lalit shows Ahrt Qs and Taylor chucks his cards in disgust. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 03:50:06 PM Barry Neville is OUT.
All-in preflop vs Alli Mallu A-Q v A-K Queen on the flop, but Alli Mallu makes a flush on the River. Both men celebrate, Barry unaware that Mallu had rivered the flush. Mallu now the big chip leader. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 03:54:21 PM As I was returning from breakfast, Paul Jackson was walking the other way. "Bye," he said. Infer from that what you will.
Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 04:04:54 PM Double up for Womble (pretty spectacular, too):
Dave Clark made it 4k in mid position, while Paul Alterman re-raised on the button (a lot - committing himself for his whole 25k). Short stack Womble on the small blind looked at one card and took the plunge. Dave folded, and Womble said, "I have one overcard to your Tens..." showing the Ad. Paul showed Qh Qc Womble squeezed the other card, sliding out the perfectly-timed Ks! Flop: Aspades 3d Ac "Keep it coming," murmured Womble. Turn: Ahrt River: 5h And Womble now has around 15k. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 04:06:21 PM And here is your chip leader (by a country mile)...

Ash Hussain folds on the big blind, showing a lowly deuce in the process. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 04:14:47 PM As the blinds rise to 800/1,600, the full counts of the remaining players:

Patten made the initial raise with A-7, MacLeod moved all-in with A-T, and Patten made the obligatory call. No 7 arrives and the Scot doubles up. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 04:24:27 PM Just witnessed an interesting conversation between D Taylor and D Courtney.
Courtney - "Do you play much poker?" Taylor - "I play on line for a living. I've won over 500 grand" Coutrney - "Wow, is that true" Taylor - "Pft. Would you still be living with your parents if you'd won over 500 grand?" Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 04:27:40 PM Courtney raises to 3.2k preflop, Taylor moves all-in for another 20k, and Courtney folds.
Taylor then flips over Jd 8d Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: JaffaCake on August 13, 2006, 04:31:21 PM Great job as always Snops and Jen...good luck to Welsh Wizard Jones, look after my percentage
Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 04:31:52 PM Paul King sticks in 6k from the cut-off, prompting Ash Hussain to move his entire stack in from the button.
King doesn't fancy placing his tournament life on the line at this point in the comp and opts for the fold. Unlike Taylor in the previous post, Ash doesn't reveal his hand. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 04:35:51 PM Dave Taylor, after a valiant series of blind-taking all-ins, finally got called by Dave Clark's Th Td. And the quads fairy smiled upon him, too - knocking Taylor out in the process.
Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 04:40:39 PM Sid Harris has doubled up!
All-in preflop for 23,300 with Aspades Jc Unfortunately for Sid, Mark 'Monkey' Harris is seated next door with Pocket Queens (Qc Qh) and makes the call. The 5s Jc 8s flop gives Sidney a few more outs. No jack on the 6s Turn... but the 4s River gives the underdog a flush. Sid wins the battle of the Harris's (or Harri) with a gut-wrenching River, leaving Monkey Harris to hold his head in his hands, absolutely devestated. Sid rises to 46,000, whilst Mark drops right down to the poltry sum of 1,500. Ouch, gotta hurt at this stage in the competition. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 04:44:35 PM And with that, the final two tables are being redrawn...
Bear in mind they're only paying 9 places, as follows: 1 £50,400 2 £28,800 3 £19,400 4 £13,700 5 £10,100 6 £6,500 7 £5,800 8 £5,000 9 £4,300 Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 04:45:08 PM And yet another one is left to queue up for there 'I've been Mallued' stamp.
Mallu's latest victim is Lloyd Greensite, who exited in quite spectacular circumstances. Greensite raises preflop from Trap 2 with Aspades Js, Mallu reraises, Greensite moves all-in and Mallu calls. Mallu turns over the somewhat speculative hand of 2h 2c and punches the air in delight as a Deuce hits the flop. Just to rub salt in wounds, the Jack arrives on the River. Another bites the Mallu dust. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 04:48:30 PM So we are still able to see likkle Mallu, the yellow 5k chips have been brought into play, making a lot easier for us to count Alli's incredible 258k stack.
I think he may be the current chip-leader... Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 04:52:48 PM On the left here is most recent exiter Lloyd Greensite, with neighbour Ryan Fronda.

Luke Patten raises from the small, Ding Dell moves all-in and Luke calls. Luke = Kd Td Tracey = Ks Qc Board = 7h Qh 2d 6h Jh Tracey is now up on 45k Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 05:54:59 PM come on alty.a few double ups needed. Sorry to inform you that Paul just exited in 16th place... He took a perfectly reasonable double up shot with Aspades Kc, and Dave Courtney was his adversary with the traditional Qc Qh. Flop: Ks 4s Ahrt Turn: Jd River: Td and that straightened him out. As it were. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 05:58:40 PM Womble raises from the button, Paul King moves all-in for another 28,5k more.

Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 06:05:06 PM Womble finishes in 15th place:
He raised to 7k preflop, and button Paul King moved in quickly. Womble called even faster with his Kc Ks - and Paul looked relieved that he wasn't covered as he held Ad Kd. Flop: 7d Aspades 2h Turn: Ahrt River: 6d And a quick farewell from Steve whose patient short stack play was not to be rewarded this time. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 06:06:13 PM Captain Tantastic Carlo Citrone escapes a right ol' Malluing, but only just...
Alli Mallu raises 4.5k from the cut-off with Ac 2c, Carlo moves all-in from the button with Pocket Aces, Mallu calls the extra 4k. Flop = Tc 9c Ts Carlo doesn't look to confident... ... but exhales a gigantic sigh of relief when he the Turn brings a Deuce and the River a Three. "If you had folded for the extra 4 thousand I would have been happy," commented a relieved Citrone. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 06:07:11 PM Dave Bozzard finishes in 14th spot:

Courtney raised preflop, Mallu stuck in a chunky reraise from the small blind and Courtney moved all-in. Courtney turns over Bullets, whilst Mallu reveals the eye-opening hand of Qc 8d Board = 7d 4h 4d Kd 9c Courtney can't quite believe his luck, adrenalin still visible in his shakey hands as he stacks his newly obtained mountain of chips. Mallu, meanwhile, is rueing his error in judgment as he looks down at his now dwindled stack of 156k. He's still got a nice stack, but I fear we may see a Mallu tilit very shortly. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 06:15:53 PM Tracy DingDell has gone on the offensive (quite right too at this juncture) - raising raisers without calls - except that one against Patten where she doubled through. Just now Alan Dean raised under the gun to 7,000, and she raised him a suspicious 10k more. He wasn't biting, and passed; she showed him Aspades Ahrt...
Up to 70k now. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 06:17:39 PM Courtney nurses his newly acquired stack.
He seems to be having a rather sensuous moment with his chips - each to their own I guess... Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 06:22:51 PM Tenacious Outer Hebridean hanger-on Edward Macleod just moved in for his 6k on the button when it folded to him. As a bonus, he held Ahrt 5d. Small blind Paul King autocalled with 6s 9c.
The board: Jd Kh Aspades 8s Kc and Macleod says, "I've got a yellow chip," part of his 14k stack. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Mr Fantastic on August 13, 2006, 06:25:06 PM great work on the updates by the way! ....loving it....can we get a chip count some time soon... ;D
Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 06:27:41 PM Ryan Fronda is OUT in dramatic circumstances.
Luke Patten raised to 8k from under the gun with Pocket Queens, Ryan reraised another 13k more with the American Airlines. Luke hesitated momentarily before pushing all-in and, of course, Ryan made a brisk call. Flop = 3s Kh 8h Turn = 2c drum roll please... Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 06:31:20 PM Tracy Dell knocks out Alan Dean in 12th place -
After a limp from Lalit, Alan on the button (a bluesquare qualifier, incidentally) pushed in for around 60k. A pretty solid player, I was surprised to find Tracey on the big blind pushing straight in over the top. Lalit got right out of the way, and they showed: Dean: Qc Qs Dell: Kc Kd No help for an unlucky Mr. Dean who just ran into a monster (the Kings, not the lovely Tracey). Getting near the final now... chip counts coming. Blinds are currently 1,500/3,000 so I'm guessing the pressure is being felt most acutely by Rumit.
One pot which got to showdown involved Lalit Khajuria on the button, and big blind Ali Mallu. On a board of 10 K 6 6 10 (so either way there was a rivered Ten) I saw Ali picking up a 16k pot, .showing Td Qh, and Lalit shaking his head. Still smiling, though. Rumit raised an extra 5k from the small blind, Lalit moved all-in and Rumit called. Rumit = J-J, Lalit = A-K Board = Q-Q-8-J-4 Rumit is shoots up to around 70k Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 07:57:13 PM Ash Hussain raises to 10k preflop, Dave Clarke calls in the small blind.
Flop = 9d 2c Kd Clarke checks, Hussain moves in for around 30k, Clarke folds. Still pretty slow going here. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 08:11:00 PM After about a half hour of raise-y pass-y stuff, Ash has a go, raising to 9k. Luke Patten flat calls in position and the blinds get out of the way.
Flop: 7d 5d 2c Ash immediately moves in for his 40-odd thousand, and Luke calls (or, more precisely, plonks in a big old stack of yellows in a confident fashion). Fair enough, he shows Ad Ahrt, while Ash's 5h 6h isn't without hope... Turn: 2d Now less hopeful River: Td And all hope fades as Luke hits the nut flush. So Ash Hussain is the 9th place finisher, winning £4,300 Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on August 13, 2006, 08:13:26 PM Players are now on a short break

She's taking her turn picking up the blinds along with the others... kind of surprised that the lineup on this table isn't generating more action. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 09:06:07 PM Oooh, easy come, easy go!
Tracey raised from the cutoff, and Rumit re-raised from the blind. Scary prospect though that might be, it didn't put her off making the third raise, all in for 63k on top. Rumit called, eventually, with Ad Kd. She showed Ts Td (fearless!) A nine-high board cut Rumit right back to 30k and gave Ms. Dell an intimidating stack of nearly 300,000! Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 09:51:06 PM Typical, it's quiet for two hours and then they all go bonkers... and it's mainly Rumit's doing.
Firstly, having built back to 44k he pushed under the gun with Aspades Qc. Paul King in the cutoff, similarly stacked, called with 9s 9d. An Ace on the turn knocked Paul down to just 7k. So you think he might have finished 7th, right? WRONG Two of the precious five hands left to Paul went by, and on the second, Dave Clark made it 20k to go (a third of his stack). Rumit in the small blind said that fateful phrase, "How much are you playing?" before pushing all in. He covered Dave, and when the call was made these were the hands: Dave showed: Aspades Qh Rumit showed: Ac Kh. The board 4s Jh 2c Jc 8d Which made Dave Clark the 7th place finisher winning £5,800 Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 09:55:41 PM So Paul King makes a move then? No - there kicks off a massive battle of the blinds between Luke Patten (small blind) and Ali Mallou. Raise, re-raise, an "I don't believe you" re-re-raise and they're on their backs.
Ali shows: Kc Kh Luke shows: Ad 4d A spiked Ace meant Ali Mallou is the 6th place finisher, receiving £6,500 Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 09:58:03 PM And now, having climbed two spots in five minutes - Paul King exits in 5th, winning £10,100

Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 10:21:41 PM More action! Rumit is OUT in 4th for £13,700 (in quite eye-watering circumstances):
He flopped the second nut flush holding Kc 5c - the board 9c 4c 2c. If he was wondering how to get paid, he needn't have worried, as the stacks went all-in (his and Dave Courtney's) on the 9s turn. Dave showed: 9 T River: Ten. House. Out. A great comeback already, though, for fourth spot. Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Mr Fantastic on August 13, 2006, 10:27:44 PM Dave had 9-10?

Omitted the suits as I don't like to make them up too often ;) Second nut flush versus turned trips (999) with Dave's hand being 9 10. 10 on the river for a full house. I hope i am not bokking her by reveling this! (Floppy should know if i am) GL Tracey! P.S. Well done Rumit! Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 13, 2006, 10:43:57 PM During the break, a lady came up to DingDell and told her that although she's never played live, watching Tracey work her way through the final table has given her the confidence to give it a go. Right on, sister.

Tracey bet out 40k. Luke said, "raise," and proceeded to place chips and then go back for more (also known as, all together now, String Betting) which meant that his raise stood at 45k. Tracey moved all-in - Call! Tracey showed: Qs 4c for the straight Luke showed, of all hands: 4s 7d for the higher one. No help on the river, and Tracey Dell finishes 3rd, winning £19,400 (£30k) Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: RED-DOG on August 13, 2006, 11:29:09 PM ;letsparty; ;letsparty; ;letsparty; ;letsparty;

Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Dingdell on August 14, 2006, 01:56:16 AM Blimey - I've just read this thread and I am so amazed at the support, thank you sooo much!!
I have to say that Reddogs chat this week at Luton was the start of it, and on Saturday I made my mind up to go and play and left work early to play the satellite, I won on second attempt and over an early dinner contemplated cashing in my ticket for £1500. The reason I didn't cash the ticket was because I remembered Not Gus Hansen from Luton nearly doing the same thing earlier this year, and I thought it was worth having a go - it's all a learning experience - and it's not often I get to play with this quality of player. Also my boyfriend was playing and I didn't have a lift home :blonde: For two days I have repeated reddogs words in my head and played a solid game. At Luton so many people were rooting for me that it gave me amazing confidence and focus. Sitting next to Paul Jackson for the first day and part of the second was really funny, I suspect (!) he had read blonde as everytime someone raised me he told me it was because I was a woman!! Between him and Paul King I had the best poker education anyone could ask for over 2 days. They kept me on the straight and narrow and had a very calming affect. I was very lucky to have had the benefit of their advice. On the final table I was stuggling with Ali Mallu who seems to have an automatic requirement to raise every hand (or so it seemed). Taking Jens advice (that girl is a genius) on the third occasion I stopped being overawed by him and came over the top. He had to fold, and after that folded a lot more hands. 8) When there were three of us left the chop discussion came up. I was chip leader but an offer of better than 2nd for everyone and play for the rest (after a quick discussion with Tighty and Sninatras - the backup team) seemed a good compromise. I have to say that I was dissapointed in myself for not playing it out without a deal, I wanted to WIN but the financial logic won over and in the end was the best result for me. I didn't play after the deal any differently than before and I am only gutted that I was beaten by the infamous blonde 4 7 which was just a cruel poetic justice thing!! The financial reward has only just kicked in. I reverted to being a woman immediately after the game and had to blub in the toilets (and later in front of Jen and Dina) just to get the adrenalin/disappointment/excitement or whatever it was out of my system. I had had so many people coming up to me during the breaks, all the waitresses, players I have never seen before and loads of Luton players, all gunning for me to win that I was overwhelmed by the support. Everytime I looked up from the table there was another person catching my eye and telling me to win. I was genuinely devastated not to finish first, I had talked myself into winning, and to be pipped at the post was horrible, but an hour or so later with a cheque in my handbag, and a shopping trip planned for Saturday I am extremely happy! 8) A big thank you to everyone who works in the card room, they were great, almost as disappointed as I was that it wasn't a local win, but it was amazing for me to play with some great players. Never before have I experienced so much genuine support and good wishes, when Jen told me that people were rooting for me on the forum I was really touched, and it kept that competitive spark going, knowing that people were following the play. Tighty, Tikay, Jen, Snoopy and Kev were brilliant, although I was there on my own I never felt alone. :)up I'm about to unpack my trophy ;D open the baileys and wake up tomorrow wondering if it really happened. When the boyfriend asks for his 10% I'll remember it did! Down to earth with a bang, first bottom in tomorrow at 9, but I have a feeling that without the help of alcohol I won't sleep much between now and then! In Tikays words 'it's been emotional'. ;D Tracey x Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 14, 2006, 01:59:38 AM ;applause; ;applause; ;applause; :respect: :respect: :respect:

Lots of emotions last night but in the cold light of day I came third and it was for me an amazing achievement. £30K is fab for me, helps pay the mortgages, so I'm sorry for being a bit precious! I'm now very very happy! Tracey Title: Re: Luton Main Event Live Update Day Two - Interactive Post by: Royal Flush on August 14, 2006, 12:58:44 PM Fantastic Tracey.

Fantastic win for such a lovely " Lady Of Poker", You played well and have been rewarded , remember at one of the breaks i said to you that the best advice is not to take any and play the game the your way, and the result was stunning. I was playing in the £100 Frezeout ( which i sadly anted out myself in 7th place) And said to Lee barber that i wished i was the other side of the screen playing on the final table in the £1500 on that final table, well maybe next time the poker gods will look down on me LOL Well done again keep flying that luton flag wherever you play as you are a worthy winner and whats more it proves that the "nicest" people of poker can also win !!
