Roger raised UTG. Tony gave it a big hollywood dwell then reraised all in for little over 8,000 chips. Roger call straight away and flipped over Kc Qs Tony turned over Aspades Ahrt flop 6s 7c Ks turn Kd River Ad Tony doubles up and Roger is down to about 2k. Roger Jones limped in with the bullets. 5 further limpers. Two sixes on the flop. Aces gets it all in against one of the other limpers who had 6-5. Yet again, an ace on the river reared its ugly head and Roger, down to 800 chips not long ago, is now up to 26,000. Gavin took the rubdown well and they went out for drinks together the following day. Gavin thought Jeff was a lunatic.
Anyway, the relevance of the story is that Martin Green has recently been moved to Jeff's table and has just said: "If Gavin Smith thinks you're a lunatic, I'm only moving on your blind if I have an absolutely huge hand, cos he (Smith) is the biggest lunatic out there" Title: Re: Brighton Grosvenor £500 Main Event - Live Update - Day 2 Post by: AlrightJack on August 20, 2006, 06:55:24 PM David R Lloyd just bit the dust in 19th place so we are now down to 2 tables. There had been a £500 saver for 10th agreed anyway and 9th was worth £740. The two players have agreed to split the money equally, but the question remains as to who gets the 9th place ranking points.
A) Nicolas gets it as he had more chips going into the hand B) They get joint 9th position and split the ranking points. Personally, I think its A, but I'd like to hear some opinions. Oh, by the way did I mention that this is a 'Live and Interactive' Update, so come on all you lurkers, present your views... Title: Re: Brighton Grosvenor £500 Main Event - Live Update - Day 2 Post by: Ginger on August 20, 2006, 11:00:24 PM Normally I would agree that is should be Nicolas that gets the points, but as they agreed to split the total accumulated 10th and 9th money I think that they should also split the ranking points.
If the points are given to Nicolas, it's saying he finished 9th, and in that case should have taken the £740 for 9th place. Title: Re: Brighton Grosvenor £500 Main Event - Live Update - Day 2 Post by: AlrightJack on August 20, 2006, 11:01:43 PM The ruling has been made and Nicolas Risdale has been eliminated in 9th place winning £740.

If the points are given to Nicolas, it's saying he finished 9th, and in that case should have taken the £740 for 9th place. I believe the ruling was correct. The decision to split the money was their personal decision and should not be able to influence an official result. That is the cardroom manager's decison alone. Title: Re: Brighton Grosvenor £500 Main Event - Live Update - Day 2 Post by: AlrightJack on August 21, 2006, 01:37:22 AM They are both playing very cagily now, with Alan now holding the lead - 340k to Jeff's 300k. Not a lot in it. They both deperately want to win the Blue Square watch, lol.
Title: Re: Brighton Grosvenor £500 Main Event - Live Update - Day 2 Post by: AlrightJack on August 21, 2006, 01:48:56 AM Its all over. Jeff Rogers is the Brighton Summer Shaker Champion winning £10,800.
Alan Dean is therefore the runner up collecting £7,300. Jeff raised 25k, Alan Raised it another 70k. Jeff called. The flop came down 6h 8h 8d Jeff, who had regained the chip lead again before this hand moved all in. Alan calls. Jeff has Th Ts Alan has Kh 9h But Alan missed his flush draw as the turn was 2c , the river the 4c and it was all, finally, over. Thanks to Mr Raab for the fantastic updates. Special mention to all at the Grosvenor Brighton for putting on one of the best tourneys I have played in ages. They got this one spot on. One hour clock 2 x 5000 double chance freezeout, great blind structure including a 150/300 level which makes so much difference, and a nice prize structure with sensible increments between the placings. Last but not least, congrats to Jeff Rodgers, Summer Shaker champion.
