Our first exiter has exited - Phil Peters.  Other than that, Tikay says, "It's been very quiet.  Mick Fletcher's stolen three pots."

Dave Colclough doubles up -

One of four limpers, who then called a preflop raise and saw a flop of 8s Jd Qs, El Blondie in latest position moved in for around 15,000 when it checked to him.
The pot was a tasty 16k, but it looked like he was getting called when Mark Raymer gave it the dwell... not entirely sure what that was all about as he eventually discouraged further callers by moving all in with his set of Jacks.
Dave showed:  Ts Jc against Mark's Jh Js.
Turn: 2c
River: 9d  !  Gutshot-tastic.  A much healthier 30k+ now in DC's stack.

Mick Fletcher raised from the cut-off, J Exley moves all-in behind him, and Brian Medley calls. Mick folds.

Hewston flips A-K and Medley reveals K-K

The Kings hold up and Exley is OUT.

Er, Flushy... BOK!  David Gent is OUT...

Glenn Ashworth raised to 3,500, and neighbour Dave moved in for 6,100 more.  A rather unhappy looking call after a while, with 8d 8h - David showed Ad Ac!

First card on the flop: 8s, followed by some Kings and no draw apart from the elusive Ace, so he's out.  "I fluffed a few chips before that," he remarked with characteristic calm, "So I didn't have enough to push him off, and didn't want to."  Fair enough - the poker gods have ruled against him.

As the blinds rise to 800/1,600, Womble's QQ is defeated by Paul King's set-spiking 99, knocking him out...

Marc Goodwin has dropped from chip leader to short-stacker in the space of a few hands.

First he lost with K-K vs Iqbal's 9-9 and then Q-Q vs Lee Rich's K-K

As a result, he is now down to a paltry 10k

And the Goodwin rollercoaster continues, this time outflopping Iqbal's Pocket Knaves with Tens. Ten first card.

He is now on 27,300.

Tony Kendall is down to 11.9k after paying off Gerald David's Pocket Aces

Flop = 6s 7s 9h

Tony bets out, David raises all-in for another 11.2k and Tony calls

Tony shows 8d 9h and fails to improve on the Ad Turn and 6c River

Amusing double up for W. Akhtar, who moved his short stack in when it was folded to him (he claimed afterwards that it was blind...)  Hewston found the AK in the small blind and gave his, er, 3c 4s a spin...

Flop: 7h Kc Jc
Turn: 5s
River: 6d.

Straight.

Big pot occurring simultaneously on the other table - Bernard Litman raised to 4,500 under the gun, called by Gerald David.  Glenn Ashworth takes a good while before passing, and the flop comes:  9d Aspades Th.  Small bet from Litman; call.
Turn: Js  Litman bets out 6,000 this time, and gets another call.
River:  Jh.  Thoughtful check from both players, this time:  Bernard Litman shows Ad Qc, Gerald the winning Qd Jd.

Now Glenn pipes up saying he folded AK preflop!  No wonder he took his time...

Tony Kendall has doubled up courtesy of Mark Rayner.

Mark bet 3k with his K-J on a Q-Q-x flop, tikay added another 5.2k with Q-6 (big bling) and Rayner called.

Tikay in Shock Runner Runner Flush to Double Up News Now -

He made his all-in move on a flop of Qc 5d 7s, check-raising Mick Fletcher with his powerful Qs 9s.  The other's hand was a bit stronger than he'd have liked, and after the middle players got out of the way, he got to see the 5s 5h against him.  Standing up now, they both could only watch as the 6s and then the Ks popped out to save the fishy sophisticated Godfather of poker, catapulting him over 40k!

Title: Re: Bolton Extravaganza: Final Day Live Update - At A Glance
Post by: Djinn on September 03, 2006, 05:11:22 PM
10 min ****************************BREAK***********************  to race off the 100 chips.

Last hand before it, Glenn Ashworth took a 20k pot betting all the way against Gerald David.  The board came Kc 6s Kh 4s Th and the final 8k bet on the river secured Glenn the pot.

Tikay has just seemed to come to terms with the fact that he now has a playable stack - over 50,000 in fact.  He clearly doesn't like to profit from luck purely, but now that fortune has smiled on him, he'd better just get on with it!

On a flop of 6s 7c Aspades, Kendall reraises Michael Fletcher.

It's about another 40k for Fletcher to call, leaving him with around 20k left.

He claims to have a baby monster and then shows 9s 7s

Kendall reveals Qs Js

Glenn Ashworth isn't shy about getting his shortish stack involved - firstly he doubled up Andrew Douglas' Aspades Kc pushing all-in from the small blind with 8d 8h after Andrew had raised to 5k under the gun.  The Ace came, and now Glenn had to make a move - he chose moving in over the top of John Hewston's 7,000 raise with his Th Td.  Hewston had Qh Qd, but the Ten popped right out to cut Texas' stack right back down...
Tablemate John Hockle told John "You are the unluckiest man I've ever seen..." and I'm sure he's agreeing at the moment...

Sharp elimination news now - Gerald David is OUT
Holding Ahrt Jc on an Ad 6h Ac flop, he must have been fairly happy to shove his chips in, but Mick Fletcher called in a microsecond - he held 6s 6d and had flopped the house!

A quiet exit from Gerald, while Mick got a bit shouty "Come ON! No ACE!" etc. before admitting that this was because "Big hands excite me."

Hewston, has had his problem and is now OUT.

He moved his shortstack all-in with Aspades 8c but ran into R Mulla's domineering Ad Jh

6d Kd Js 3d 7s

Title: Re: Bolton Extravaganza: Final Day Live Update - At A Glance

The short stacks have been surviving, as in the case of microstacked Paul Hatton with his Ad 7d defeating the valiant Js 3h, and much more than that, trebling up - like Paul King.

Brian Medley raised to 8k preflop, got a call from Mick Fletcher, and Paul with just 11k on the small blind made the push.  Two callers, unsurprisingly. At this point Tikay says, "You could treble up!" and Paul replies, "I will."
Flop: Tc Ks Ts   Brian checks, and Mick bets him off it with 13,000 and 5h 5c.  This must have delighted Paul with his 8c 8h - a treble up indeed.
"See Tikay - I'm winning this now."

Mick Fletcher has increased his chip lead by eliminating both Mark Raymer and Bernard Litman.

The fact that he had Pocket Rockets helped somewhat.

Raymer, who only had 500 and A-6, and Litman (8-8) failed to improve on a T-J-9-K-5 flop, although for a moment it looked as though someone had made a straight somewhere.

A saver for 11th and 10th has been agreed - £1,000 so they don't go home losers...

P.S. Thanks Noflops - that coupon will come in very handy indeed.

And Tikay knocks out Paul Hatton in 11th place (good for him they've just done a saver for £1,000 for 11th and 10th place...)

It folds to Tikay on the small blind, who raises to 5,000.  Paul re-raises another 12,000 from the big blind - Tikay calls (suspicious or WHAT?)
Flop:  Ks Kh 7d   Check from Tikay and an all-in; called by Tikay with the Ad Aspades
Paul Hatton's Jd 8c was in bad shape, and stayed that way.... and the Grandfather is up to 86,000.

The ever-organised Snoopy has your mugshots of the final tablists, but he's watching Womble go all-in blind every hand with a kind of grim fascination right now, so here's the chip position:

1  Glenn Ashworth   49,500
2  Richard Herbert    90,000
3  Brian Medley        30,500
4  Mick Fletcher      250,000
5  Tikay                  86,000
6  Andrew Douglas   12,000
7  Iqbal Patel          120,000
9  Paul King            30,000
10 John Hockle       63,000

And our 9th place finisher is Glenn Ashworth, winning £2,000

He was a tad unlucky to run his 8d 8h into Reyaaz Mulla's Aspades 5d - which happened to hit the Ace, prompting an "Aaaah" from the final - while Mulla could be heard muttering "I am playing to win the thing, not just hang on..." or some such.

Down to eight, and a most uneven chip spread there is...

Richard Herbert is doing just fine here!  He just knocked out Brian Medley in 8th place, for £2,800 - he raised in the small blind, and probably wasn't thrilled to be re-raised by Brian.  However, he called the shorter stack with his Q 10, Brian held 55, but the Ten paired and we're down another player...

It's all happening so fast here - turn your back and Paul King goes out in 7th, winning £3,200

He moved in his last 16k from the big blind with 4s 4d, and got two callers (at least one too many....).  They checked it down, and him out - one of them spiked a King and he came over to do his exit interview with Rhowena...

Interesting one for Tikay - three limpers on his big blind, which he counts as five, and checks.
Flop: 6h 6d 6s  Mick Fletcher Tikay checks, Reyaaz Mulla bets an appropriate looking 6,000, call from button Richard Herbert, and Tikay.
Turn:  3h.  Check round.
River:  Jd.  Tikay bets 16,000, and both players dwell before folding.
"Show us the quads!" says Richard - Tikay shows the Ac...... and then finally the 6c.

Double up for Reyaaz Mulla - he got himself in a pretty favourable situation with Ac Kd all in preflop against Richard Herbert's Aspades Qh - the board changed nothing and now Richard is a little shorter than he's been accustomed to being recently...

Richard Herbert is OUT and is the 6th place finisher winning £4,000

He called all-in with Jc Jd on a board of 7c Ac 4s 8c

As Iqbal revealed hs Ad 4d, Herbert pleaded for a club on the river, but it wasn't to be as another Ace handed Iqbal the boat.

And John Huckle takes a raise from Mick (13,500) by pushing in on the big blind for his full 69,000...looks like the only way to get the chip leader off, and not many have wanted to tangle with him on this final.

Title: Re: Bolton Extravaganza: Final Day Live Update - At A Glance
Post by: Djinn on September 03, 2006, 10:10:39 PM
The final Five take five...

A couple of brief hands from the level 3k/6k:

Huckle does the blinds all-in re-raise again, this time on button raiser Mulla - it's passed and he shows Ad Kh...

Iqbal Patel raises preflop to 19k, call from Mick in the big blind.  Flop:  Kd Jd 7d.  Check-check, and Mick takes it on the Kh turn, although he's told "I'm ahead!" and shown 3d 3h for good measure...

This Iqbal fellow does seem to like the all-in move - when it folded to him on the button he put his whole 140k in, which effectively took the blinds.  He also re-raised Tikay off pocket Sevens with AQ and the same move.

tikay makes up with blinds and Iqbal cheques.

With just 9k in the pot, tikay then moves all-in for 44,500 on a 7c 9s Ac flop.

Iqbal thinks about it, then nudges his chips forward in an effort to lure out a tell.

He then follows through and shoves them over the line, revealing the rather lightweight hand of Kc Td

tikay reveals 8c 2c and hits the 4c on the River.

Second in chips or not, Iqbal isn't half fond of moving in...he just did it again over the top of Mick's raise on the button.  A countdown was requested; it proved pricey.  Pass.  Whoever tangles with Mr. Patel will find themselves on one side of a big pot - he can double any player up, or take them out - except Mick (obviously)...

Huge action, few chips changing hands....here's how:

Mick raises (again), and Tikay moved in.  So did Iqbal - pretty fast.  Mick passed his Ad Td, and Tikay muttered, "I'm worried about the stray Aces..." flipping KK.
Iqbal flipped Kings too.  They both made Nines full.  Chop chop.  But the adrenaline has probably perked them up a bit.

Our 4th place finisher, winning a tidy £6,300 is Tony 'tikay' Kendall...

When Mick Fletcher raised from the button (again), Tikay moved in over the top from the small blind.  He was not only called by Mick, but by big blind Iqbal too.
The board, which was checked down, came 7d Kc Jc 6c Aspades.  Iqbal announced "top two" and rolled over Ahrt Kh.  Tikay's 8s 8c hadn't done the trick, but he should be pleased with this result - only earlier today and he was nursing a Danger Stack, and now final table...and 32nd in the freeroll.

***************************************BREAK**********************************

It looks like the last three have followed the crowd over to the buffet...Tikay is having a well-deserved snack, of fossilised fish and peas which look the most disturbing colour imaginable under our purple lights.  Back in 10.  Probably.

A resteal from the big blind from Mick, and the chips are roughly -

It's more now that Iqbal Patel eliminates John Huckle in 3rd place - he takes £10,300

Mick folded the button, and Iqbal put a chunk of yellow 5k chips in.  John Huckle moved in pretty fast with his Ac Th, and found the raise had been made with Kd 4c - he was called nonetheless and the flop came: 3s 6d 5s
Turn: 8h
River: Kc

And we're heads up....

Silly big action here - with over 180k in the pot preflop, they see 4d 9h 6s.  Check from Iqbal, 80k from Mick - call.
Turn: 5d.  Check again, "all in," says Mick, along with, "no shame in passing..."  But Iqbal calls.  With 8d 2c.
Mick shows Jc Kd

River:  8h.  New chip leader.

Although we haven't heard or seen anything to confirm it, it's hard to imagine there's no deal with these kind of hands kicking off.  But then again, Jon Raab assures me this kind of thing has happened before.

We don't have the exact details, but Mick confessed to making a deal with Blackpool buddy Iqbal. They were even at the chips at the time, so the chances are that they halved the prize pot right down the middle.
