Title: Self dealing....ah....
Post by: Bainn on September 04, 2006, 01:34:25 PM
So there i was, re-reading the BB3 info, when i saw that some tables at BB3 with be self dealt.

Oh dear.

So, seeing as i have less than a week to practice, what is the accepted method of shuffling and what type of cards will the casino likely use, plastic or plastic coated ?

Or can i not just use a battery powered shuffler?

You can shuffle how you like, even if you just spread them over the table. The casino will use plastic cards. It's easy peasy and if you get stuck everyone else will help you. Hope that helps

Just use the line "I am new at this, can someone else shuffle and deal for me? I wouldn't want to slow the game down" - ALWAYS someone will do it for you ;)

Also, one of the blondeites on the table may offer to be dealer, so you might not have to worry ;)

Cheers Poppet and M3, will practice with the plastic cards and if still rubbish at weekend, wear a fake cast on my arm.

Just to clarify

Walsall are providing 15 dealers for the start of the comp, the remaining 5 tables will be self deal until we lose enough players to mean that all the walsall dealers can handle the numbers

So you only have a 5 in 20 chance of being drawn on a self deal table, and even if you are you will be helped along, someone may even volunteer to deal for the whole table as happened at bb2

don't worry!

I'm a bit worried about my behaviour though, most people on here think i'm innocent lol

Richard, if the casino is providing 15 dealers then you can only have 12 tables with dealers unless they are willing to go 3 hours without a break...

i should have clarified further...15 dealers at 4pm and then others come on at 6pm etc so the early dealers can have breaks. We should have SNGs and cash serviced well all night.

Does Thomas Kremser get all these clarification requests??  :D

Is it customary to tip the dealer in these games?  I guess it is but what's the etiquette?  Is it only if you win the main event?  Do you do it in sng's if you cash?  How does it work for cash games?

Ta :)

You are not allowed to tip dealers in UK licenced casinos

There, you've learnt something new today

sweet :D

So that means you don't tip them, or do you be discrete?  Really, I don't want to faux pas :D

Don't try to tip them, gaming staff who take tips are risking their license and their job.

Probably not - but he's not as good as you Tighty. We're secretly taking notes of it all for our own future reference :D

If I'm dealing, however, then I will be accepting tips in liquid form only!

If on one of the 5 tables without dealers i dont mind dealing as i too dealt at BB3 for at least 15 hours non-stop.

If any references are needed ask North Angel as to my credentials :)up
