Title: BB3 memories thread
Post by: AdamM on September 10, 2006, 01:15:42 PM
thought there'd be more on the forum about the bash but as there was no internet connection I suppose it was unlikely. hopefully a live update from the next one.

how did your BB3 go?

my main memories.

Ironside on the wind up before the doors even opened. stirring it up between me and various members who've had issues with me. all friendly though.

tight first table. DazzaT, matey boy (sorry) Lightbreeze and the Bluffer (misnomer) to my left. further round Karabiner and  Oscar Rana from Notts then Dingdell and teacake to my right. Slow start for me. no cards to work with. managed to win a reasonable sized pot with pocket 3's when I flopped a set. finished the first two levels with the 6k Id paid for. DazzaT made a move on a flush and straight board and Dingdell saw through it and called with pocket 3's. put him on tilt for quite a while. Lightbeeze was picking on any apparent weakness in the blinds. pretty uneventful table though.

about level 4 I got moved tables to 'the ladys table' Mrs Red, Mrs Jammer, Madasahatstand, suzanne, Mel, Jen, Harmony and many more all passed through this table. I managed to accumulate some chips only for me to loose almost everyone to Madasahatstand when I let her 6,6 catch up with my A,A.  (shouldn't have checked the damn flop). I was in all in mode for a while. got back on my feet again and what A,A took, A,A returned. Jen was immediately to my right and Wardonkey (with a few beers in him) to my left. there'd been some clashes over his BB and I was lucky enough to find AA in the SB. Jen raised from the button with 8,8 (she claimed) she expertly got away from the K,Q,J flop but I got the rest of them in the blinds next round when we raced her AK against my JJ. I have to add though that I've never played with Jen live before. She's a nightmare. hell of a player.
I struggled for chips most of the night but in the round before each break I picked up a couple of big pots and always went to the break 1.5 x average.

The table changed texture when Simon Nowab arrived. Nice bloke but talk about earache. "What do you want me to do? call, pass or raise? I'll do what ever you tell me" we'll need to get him a poker book or some lessons before DTD opens if he needs help everytime he faces a raise. Can't complain simon doubled me up a couple of time while knocking other players out with utter filth.

Final was lightning and filled with outdraws. Chippieliecester when out Ak v A10 after hitting a K. the A10 four flushed. but the sickest outdraw of the final was when Lightbreeze raised from the button and Monkey Matt reraised all in from the SB. once the BB and a limper chubbs got out the way Lightbreeze quickly called with K,K. Matt, turning a little red, showed  9d 3d Simon had just suggested that Matt was the only rock at the table. well that put that accusation to bed. flopped the 9, rivered the 3. sick.

I went 5th in the end. I had just doubled up, found  Aspades Js and pushed my remaining 50k in (half average) Simon and Mad both called. Simons AK flopped a King, I picked up a straight draw on the turn but the river card was 1 pip out, giving Simon a third King.

Great game though. well structured and run, genuinely warm applause when players got knocked out. ther was no lack of banter but no needle. Even surpassed the atmosphere at BB1 (I missed BB2 so cant comment) two a year just isn't enough but obviously the organisation involved in these things makes any more than that virtually impossible.

nice to get some cash and a little trophy. the 1st place trophy was beautiful but wasn't to be this time.

thanks to The Blonde team for putting this together, and thanks to all the members for the atmosphere.

anyone else got things to share?

Copied this over from main board....

Tournament was great fun. Unfortunately as I was building a large pile of chips in the first five or six levels I was also building a large pile of empty lager glasses . One of them had to go, and not surprisingly it was the chips that vanished when the Beer Devil ill-advised me to get in a pre-flop raising war with my AQ against AK.

Still, it was a very good night's enterainment, polished off with a good couple of hours playing cash with Thewy, Chile, Tikay, Dingdell, Red etc. Thankfully I had sobered up a bit by then!

Special thanks to all those who helped organise it.

Can I just say an enormous thank you to the organisers and all the Blondes for making us feel so welcome. Fantastic atmosphere and a great bunch of people!

Highlights for me? I guess knocking out the first person (The Nun?) was good, and I only mean that in a poker sense. It was a critical hand so early and close to tripled me up. I had JJ in the hand, made a standard raise in mid position with no limpers in. Got two callers. Flop comes KQJ with two diamonds (I don't have any diamonds) Guy opposite me raises, I reraise allin due to the number of draws out there. The Nun calls me with AK. turn is a rag and the river is the fourth Jack. Apologies to The Nun.

The Walsall Grosvenor is a cracking casino and the card room very impressive.

Thanks again guys and gals for laying on such a fantastic do. The Poker, drink, food and banter was absolutely top class. You're a credit to the game

Even though I was invited to join last night and had never met anyone (bar one, obviously) before, I was made welcome from the start. Thanks guys (and girls).

My memories... as mentioned before, DingDell making an astounding call with a huge range of board cards present, with only a pair of 3's.  FULL TILT AHEAD!!!  This put me in good sted to come up against Ade Edmonson (Eddie Hitler out of Bottom, to you and me) look-a-like Bluffer (misnomer) to have not one but TWO full houses, one hand after another to take most of my chips.  With a little cunning and one pair of J's I came back after IFM's "let's test the table" raise first hand after he got moved to our table. Top pair against two pair wasn't enough about 30 minutes later and I was out, out but happy as for once, a live game wasn't full of arguements and nasty comments... I'll def be coming to the future events.

Then came the £20 SnG, which was being played more like an online freeroll then a real game with 3 people going out n the first 5 hands.  We had a few 'interesting' rules, like if you raised, you had to SING it! (Karaoke Poker??), 'you raise me up' by that idiot that won x-factor being the main song chosen.

I was chip leader for quite a while after Taffy (?) tried it on a few times, when I noticed my friend and also my ride home, got knocked out the main event so.. as you do!.. I kept betting against the second in chips, with 3 5 off suit hoping he'd get most of my chips, leaving just a few to go all in with next hand (sorry, I didn't catch your name!) All was going to plan until pre-river and we were both all in, the magic ace fell on the river to give me the straight over my op's top pair.  So down to three and the short stack just about gave up and called with anything as he thought (which we later found out wasn't true) that we were paying the top three.  That left me heads up with a young blonde (what else??) woman and yet ANOTHER wonder-card on the river gave me the game, ok, so it wasn't the £1,800 for the main event but at least it was something! lol

I'm sure as I enter more tourneys and get to know more of you, my 'memories' will get more interesting as I'll know names.  I remember loads more from last night but just shouting off funny/interesting hands without putting names to them is a little sad so I'll refrain until next time.

Thanks again for making me welcome and see you all again soon!

This was my 1st ever live tourney and it just couldnt of gone better, The comp was run perfectly and all casino staff were very friendly helpfull,

Making the money in my 1st live event is wonderful and getting KO'd by a rivered royal flush(his  Ac 7s v my  Ad Jd) is not a bad way to end it :D (win that hand and id be confident to final)

Would like to thank EVERYONE for making me feel at ease and welcomed and was a real pleasure to meet you all,

Like to apologise for my poor display as a late replacement for Actionjack in the heads up comp..

i went out in 35th place after being outdrawn when ahead all night by mafiaman(everytime i moved tables he moved there to).its a good job he goes to notts so ive got a chance to get him back.
i thought maria looked lovely, nice to see her dressed up.tk also dressed for the occasion(happy birthday).

the low point came when we went back to the hotel and i dropped my camera and somehow the memory card got damaged.ive lost all my pictures.im gutted as there was a great one of me,chili, micky wernick and paul jackson.i was looking forward to putting that on my wall.

Had a great time, and it was nice to meet lots of new friends.

One of the funniest things was seeing Indestructables face, when on his opening BB of the Main Event, he re-raises 'ALL IN' to a raise by a blondite (sorry, but i forget your name).  Blondite immediately calls with KK, and Indestrucatble meekly shows A 10.

I thought that both Matt and Madasahatstand both played fantastic poker, (though i wont mention the  9d 3d re-raise Matt).

Well done to all the organisers, for well, organising this.   Excellent job by one and all.

Going back to bed now..... Need sleep..........   zzzzzzzzz

It's a new rule!!

Karaoke Poker was a good laugh too!

Kev's pot of vaseline for tikay to sit on the fence with....

the mods message GFY to ifm and flushy

Interminably long Omaha Hi Lo SNGs

the look on the face of the night porter when we got to the bar at 5am and started ordering....

I managed to be a spectacular dealer for Ironside back at the Village, first hand of a friendly HU against chippie leicester,  they managed to get it all in with  Kh Ts for Ironside against chippie's  Kc Ks on a Q-9-J-x turn (3 clubs) and the Ac came on the river... Iron tended not to talk to me after that.... :D

BB3 was my first experience of a live comp & I had a great day, thank you.

My memories are thus...

Kev trash talking

Matt's monkeys

IFM drinking something that looked like pints something Black & Purple and calling bets with garbage and hitting   :ironside:

Having a discussion regarding Tikay's age (this was quite legthy)    ;goodvevil;

Simon Nowab talking so fast I could only catch every 3rd word

The biggest memory, however, is of about 160 friendly, happy and loud people having fun playing cards....FANTASIC

Memories from BB3 [warning long post] - all of these are clouded by a certain degree of alcohol.

Sureal start as i arrived to the Village hotel in the middle of a wedding party arriving, all these dressed up guests, that are milling around waiting for the married couple in the wedding car. In the middle of this were various BB3 football players wandering in through the middle (not me but we did look rather out of place). I quickly check-in followed by a look at the Liverpool score (too depressing - i ran away to my room)

I decided to wander to the casino - cant be too far - looked easy on the map, it was OK, only 20 mins or so.

The casino was not open at 2pm but rather 3pm, this left a number of blonde's stuck outside, Ironside being the most vocal (a trend that was to continue). A queue formed to sign into the casino, it appears that it was a shock to the casino that so many new players were arriving, so this took a while, (a 3rd person on the desk may have been an idea).

Got inside and met Kev & Chubbs and aggreed to play my head up game with Chubbs later (the freeroll that DtD blonde league final that I somehow won- HU for $500) - a good start happened when Kev pursuded Chubbs that this equated to £300.

Started the comp with a nice simple starting table of tikay(2 to my right), Snoops (3), Ironside(5) & Rhow to my left. I reraised Tikay off a 9xx flop with my Q9 (he had A9!!) not sure how that happend. Tikay managed to distribute his chips round the table to be out first. The rest of the table would have spoken but Ironside didnt pause long enough for the rest of the table to talk. The big hand on this talbe ocrrured when i have 99, there was  a raise preflop and 3 saw the flop, 9xx -  all of us throw our chips in the middle, my top set against poor mrsbat's KK and Ironside (the <()>< ) with the nut flush draw. obviously he hit his flush and i miss the chance to knock him out.

I got moved to another table when this table was broken, my new table had Big Arno to my right and over time we gained Ironside back again, LittlemissC, Chubbs & Maffiafan + others i have forgotten.

I managed to win a couple of races my TT v AJ & a big pot my QQ v AK (sorry I cant remeber against who), this gave me loads of chips to play with. With 3 times the average chips I was suddenly stuck with what i was supposed to do, at this point we need to mention Chubbs's impact on the table, he raised everything and left the table with the choice of playing for their whole stack or too fold, there was a lot of folding. I lost half my chips to Big Arno when my A6 against an over pair, on a flop that gave me a pair and a flush draw.

I got knocked out after blinding down to 4xBB and raised in the cut off with JJ against Chubbs's BB, he asked do I want a call - i said yes - so he hit his K4 on the river to knock me out. I was about 36th and midnight 1 am (ish). So no problem just my HU comp matches and then my HU with Chubbs and then could leave.

Our teams first HU games went well, with me  somehow beating Pab (trip 8's on the flop does tend to help). We did amazingly well with Red-Dog battleing past Chilli, Bain beat Kev, and Flushly beating The Nun (Flushy winning - that cant be right).

I played a STT and managed 3rd - although to go out to a straight flush was a little unlucky when I was rivered by a 1 outer when all in with  JJ over 55.

My next HU round went rather badly when i went all in but lost with top pair on the flop, when my kicker wasnt good enough. The Nun lost, trying to bet Chubbs off 3rd pair!! Bain lost as well which sadly meant that EricStoner managed to lose as a team without even playing a game.

So my HU game with Chubbs was steadily delayed, he kept winning his races with various cards in the main event. It didnt start until 3:30 ish, when i got Chubbs allin with my Ak v A8 to see a spiked 8 on the flop, this was followed by some terrible hands that Kev dealt me, then i was too aggressive when i should not have been causing me to lose (the final hand of allin with T5 v J5 was a tad optimistic), good fun all the same.

I seem to remember walking around the casino with the partial contents of the 4th bottle of champane that chubbs had bought because there were no more glasses left. Then I saw the final hand of the cash game (glad i was not in that)! This was followed by trying to walk back to the Village Hotel with The Tank, Claw & Andrew T (too lazy to wait for a taxi), we tried some creative navigation that led us to a housing estate next to the M6, a U-turn and lots more walking later we arrived back to the hotel. Some time after 5am i gave up being awake and went to sleep.

A great event with thanks to Walsall Casino, & the Mods of blonde for a great weekend.

Ouch, that still hurts lol

Remembered more:
Glenn going to bed at 8pm due to a hangover  ;gobsmacked;  but getting up at 3am and partying with us in the hotel bar until 8.30am.

Not understanding MikkyT's scottish accent but then realising he was a scouser.

Getting battered by RED-DOG in the heads up, SNG and then stayed way clear of him in the cash game.

Getting called a calling station by the raising machine that is Simon Nowab.

Simon saying he was happy on his table in the comp with some of his mates having a laugh, then knocked em all out one by one then realised he was lonely and had no one to talk to  :D

Meeting Pab, great bloke.

My memories?? WOW
Yet another fantastic day/night - it is truely a delight to play a poker comp with so so many good people just "out for a laugh"

Tighty, for putting a bounty on Flushie's head in the comp - although didnt take long for someone to get it, and I wasnt dying to get it honest.....

Kev's classic line about the vaseline (for Tikay's fence!!)

The VERY enjoyable HiLo SNG's

Meeting lots of new faces

Mr Nowab ( I can give Paul Parker a race for his money in talking!) - a little worse for wear! (Top top bloke, but dont tell him I said that)

And I cant forget that "noisy" hotel bed!!!!  ;goodvevil;

The whole day was a blast, just wish we could of stayed up late with the rest and stayed for Sunday - One day (BB17 or something!! lol) We will not have the need for a babysitter.

Many thanks as always to all who organised the event.

As Tikay would say "It was emotional"

Roll on BB4!!

Firstly ... A massive thankyou to everyone who attended and made the whole weekend a great success ....

A few memories ....

Being really nervous before making the presentations at the start ...I hope I managed to hide it just a little bit.

Bainn taking advantage of my drunken state by forcing me to play him heads up !!

Bainn taking advantage of my drunken state by forcing me to play him heads up !!

I've seen you more drunk and still able to function at a level that would surprise most.

Need sleep..........   zzzzzzzzz

That was me with the KK.  ;D

I just loved indestructables quote when I called 'Don't you know who i am?'
The funniest thing is I'd also done the same to him in one of the satellites.

I had a great night and wish to thank all the organisers for putting on such a great event.

How's about Brighton for BB4 ?

The table changed texture when Simon Nowab arrived. Nice bloke but talk about earache. "What do you want me to do? call, pass or raise? I'll do what ever you tell me" we'll need to get him a poker book or some lessons before DTD opens if he needs help everytime he faces a raise. Can't complain simon doubled me up a couple of time while knocking other players out with utter filth.

I had about 7 hours of Simon :D   It was a great experience for me.  I've only ever had a couple of live games before and they've only been £10 rebuys at local places so to sit down with Simon was unbelievable.  The table was made further daunting by the presence of Red Dog, Chili & AndrewT to name but 3 more.  I was a bit concerned when Simon announced I was on his hit list after I knocked Chili out, but (I think/hope) it was all in good humour and I had a great time.  Sadly, Simon did get me out in the end when my JTo was no match for 98o.  Actually, no one was a match for Simon, some of the out draws he got away with were sick :D

It was fantastic to be playing with these guys and I had a great time.  I also learnt a lot about my game and hopefully I can improve on it.

Was pleased to make 23rd in the comp.

Well it really was a tremendous event with the best atmosphere ever.

Colchester Kev, stand-up comedian extraordinaire set the ball rolling, and it really rocked from then on.

Thanks to Tighty, RobertHM, Tikay and everyone else who must have worked and planned really hard to make this happen.

It was nice to play with and get to meet and know better a few more blondes including IFM who was sat on my left with an enormous stack of chips and raising every pot except when he was anwering his obscene mobile phone.

Also got to chat with Tracy(Dingdell), Stevie(Teacake), Mike(Langboy) and met loads more. And it is always nice to see old friends like Julian, Chili(wow), Mr & Mrs Red, The Nun and Mr Nun, Chubbs, Little missC + Nick and too many others to mention.

Thanks to AdamM for doing the driving and well done on a deserved final table finish.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can't wait for the next one.

PART ONE.............

Well its the morning after the morning after the night before and i finally have the energy to write my memories of BB3. It may take a while however as I'm sure that extra snippets of information will jump out at me (apart from 3 minutes of the final table when for some reason my memory is a blank!!).

Arriving at the Village hotel with BigArmo at around 2.15-2.30 where we were greeted with a sign of what was to come for the early part of the day - a long queue full of blondeites!! It appears as though most of the hotel had been booked by us judging by the fact that 3 out of every 4 people i saw milling around i recognized either from a previous blonde bash or from their picture on here. After dropping our stuff in the room and getting ready for the afternoon/evening/nights entertainment we made our way down to the bar. Said hello to a few of the blondeites waiting patiently there for the casino to open, Nakor, Booder, Bongo, Gatso, Dewi and Newportlad before we made our way over to the casino and yet another queue.

I doubt that Grosvenor Walsall had ever greeted so many "new members" in one go before - why will they not allow it so that when you join one Grosvenor Casino then you become members of all Grosvenor casinos? Your details are on their database, your picture is on their database - why have to fill out a "new members" form for each individual branch? Anyway at least while we waited to fill out the forms it gave us chance to meet and greet more of the faces, Thewy (thanks for showing us all your curry wound), Ericstoner, The kitten kidnapper Dingdell, Sheriff and Sophie, M3Boy - as per usual the Scots were last......... though this time it just meant having to wait a little longer than the rest of us!!

Once inside we were immediately accosted by Poppet and Londonpokergirl (not that I'm complaining ;)) and presented with my name-badge once poppet had decided which breast it should go on. Mel had suggested that i show some cleavage as all name badges should be stuck there but as most people hadn't yet eaten i decided that probably wasn't a good idea! Waved  :hello: to The Nun as i waited to get served at the bar before someone told us that we needed to sign in quick as it was getting near to 4 o-clock - woohoo another queue. Fortunately as we joined the back of the long line to the cardroom Tightend also said that you could pay at the cashier desk - bonus!! A quick spin round and a wander over to the cashier desk where we bumped into the bronze medalist of BB1 paddyjim who seemed impressed not only that i remembered his position but also the fact that he was quoted as a 150/1 shot in the virtual odds. We signed Tikays birthday card and wandered back to near the entrance of the casino. This was a strategic location chosen by myself as not only did it mean we could greet people as they entered the casino but it meant i could keep an eye on the football score (though being 1-0 down at Stamford Bridge i was hardly brimming with confidence that the scoreline would change for the better).

Managed to meet and greet some more faces before the tournament began, Bainn and Harmony, Reddog came over with his name-badge stuck on the back of his suit - i quickly remedied that by returning it to its rightful place, not because i didn't want people not knowing who he was (of all the people attending BB3 he would be one of the only people not to need a name-badge!!) but i thought that as Red was going through such a purple patch both online and live that maybe some of the good vibes would rub off on me!! Silo Graham (though i was most disappointed to see that the captain of team Silo dressed normally - we had expected them to all arrive in pantomime cow costumes!), Tank (sporting his floppy hat) and RodParadise (sporting a blonde goatee). Excellent news arrived in the form of a Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink equalizer in the 52nd minute before it was announced that the draw had been made and could we make our way to the cardroom.

We wander over and i see that i am seated on Table 5, Seat 3. Within 3 minutes of finding my seat i hear that our elation of maybe getting another point at the bridge was short lived as we had conceded another goal - nevermind maybe the poker would take my mind off the score. Bumped into Simon Nowab just before the tournament got underway, it has been a while since our paths crossed regularly at blackpool so it was nice to catch up a little and even nicer to find that he wasn't actually at my table!!  :D My starting table consisted of NewportLad in seat 1, Mrs Sharpy in seat 2, Apologies to the blondeite in seat 4 but i didn't catch your name and i guess you didn't get accosted by poppet in the bar as you weren't wearing a name-badge!), Indestructable in seat 5, an attractive young lady in seat 6 who's name-badge may have said Brado but i might be wrong (i tried not to continually stare at women's name-badges in case they got the wrong idea!), Suffolk punch in seat 7, mango99 in seat 8, L3on (or Mr. poppet as he was known for the rest of the evening) in seat 9 and Maddog in seat 10.

We had the presentations before the tournament kicked off which included a introduction to poker for RobertHM who later impressed me with his speed-reading skills to be able to finish the book so quickly as if memory serves me right he ended up being the longest surviving Moderator in the tournament!! There was a quick birthday presentation for Tikay where i see that it must have been decided that it WAS too difficult to wrap a zimmerframe in birthday paper. An extra loud three cheers from all the members of team primate, as you said in your speech to get the community of blonde to where it is now in just over 18 months is one heck of an achievement - my hat is tipped in your direction squire.  ;applause; :respect: ;applause;

Well I'll be back to write part two soon where I'll remember my exploits in the tournament itself...... (better go do some work before the letter "P" is followed by the numbers "4" and "5"!!  :D)

My abiding memory of the weekend was trying the world's worst bluff on Simon Nowab. Somehow I couldn't get him to fold AJ on an AAJT board when I raised him with 32...

And Neeko, yeah, sorry about the 'shortcut' back to the hotel - it should have taken us straight back to the roundabout.

Thanks to all the people who said 'nice photo' within 30 seconds of bumping into me at the weekend.  As much as I'd like to believe that you were talking about the wedding photos or the shark picture I somehow got the feeling you weren't!

PS: One the other side of the coin, thanks to all of you who were VERY complimentary about Sophie.  Less of the 'how did you manage to pull her?' comments next time though!

Quick update on names for the Karaoke SnG...

Dewi Cool the guy that donated his chips, then took out Tightend with crap on river whilst trying to bust myself out before my ride home left me there, Colchester Kev was the third place bubble-grabber (until he found out it was only paying top two! lol) and Ruthless was the charming lady that I was (again) lucky to beat.

There, it might not be any more interseting to you but written down means I'll remember their names so this is more for me than you! lol

firstly the cameraman asks Kev and I standing either side of Rhow to move in closer (clearly he disregarded the need for a wide angle lens for Kev....). Oh ok then, if you insist sir

So take 1

Rhow "Here I am with two of the organisers of the bash"

turns to Kev "TightEnd..."

turns to me "and Colchester kev"

Take 2....!!

I'm going to try and remember all the good stuff..so here goes:

Wardonkey and THOSE shorts at the footy game! Sexy ;)

Getting to the casino just after 2 to find Ironside and damatrix outside and then people turning up and Ironside trying to remember all the names and introduce everyone.

Pushing in the queue to go inside and start handing out the labels... arrrggghhh!Next time remind me to do it alphabetically! I was in such a panic to find the labels that when people that I knew came up to me (that I hadn't met) I didn't know who they were eg MikkyT and Charmaine!

I was pleased to meet loads of people that I hadn't met before: off the top of my head... RED-DOG, charmaine, MikkyT, Claw, Jim-D, NoFlopsHomer, Pab, The Baron (I'd already heard from the other girls that he was hot so was pleasantly surprised to see they weren't lying - don't blush Aaron! ;))etc...

Jim-D knocked me out of the main tourney - naughty naughty boy (but he was cute so easily forgiven!)

Had many nice chats with charmaine and taught her a naughty face to pull at Paul!

Was scared when I found out I was playing tikay heads up... then went and beat him.. ayyaaaaaaaaarr!!

My dad knocking me out of a £20 STT... Grrrr!!

Spent a lot of time with MikkyT and his lovely hat! I miss that hat :'(.. and Mikky lol

Back at the Village, Leons HU team came 2nd... well done! xx

Claw, Tank, Mikky and I found the pool and considered going skinny dipping but decided against it seeing as we were all slightly drunk!

The 2hr walk back from the Village to my hotel... Mikky and I had to walk across the dual carriageway, through twigs and brambles, then got completely lost.. finally found the travel inn at 9.30am!

The quiz, Poppets Bitches came 3rd... but should've won!

I'd like to say thank you to all the sexy people for being sexy! - You know who you are ;) I think I may have told you once or twice!

I will be posting the pictures later

Poppet xxxx

Meeting everyone.

Swordpoker being comedy all night, also getting the drinks in.

Winning the Heads Up comp, and not losing a match.

Finishing 2nd in my sit n go, just losing out to Indestructable.

Playing on the same table of the main event as Simon Nowab and Ironside, only to see them both raise and re-raise each other, every hand. Very entertaining.

Going out of the main event in around 40th, when my blind SB all in with 6 2, failed to beat Ironsides 7 4 (he had been the mid position raiser, lol)

Having a thoroughly enjoyable time.

Getting incredibly bevvied up, and not feeling too great yesterday.

I had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all.

The tourney really livened up when I was moved to Chubbs' and Ironsides table. Highly amusing when Chubbs kept asking "Do you want me to outdraw you?" answer "Yes" and you were duly outdrawn and busted out the comp. He took me out with a legitimate QQ though - great entertainment and hope I'm on his table again sometime!

Pab getting a complex about me always re-raising him. I had a premium hand everytime!

Another expensive lesson for me while learning to play Dealers Choice. Think I'd better read some books!

Good to see a couple of the Notts regulars make the final. Well done to AdamM and to Chippie (especially as I got the 50 notes back you owed me from 1967)  ;)

Forgot to sign Tikays picket, hope you won't take of"fence"!  ::)

All the effort that went into organising this was much appreciated. It was an excellent event, can't wait for BB4!

Great event, hats off to the mods for organising a great event.

Meting lots of people for the first time, everyone as friendnly in real life as they are on t'internet

Sitting at my first table of the main event, and getting re-raised to 1k the first 4 or 5 times i raised, lol, eventually losing my first buy in with AK vs AK

Busting out of the main event to IFM, doh! didnt get too harsh of a rubdown though, lol

Losing my Heads up match in record time, meaning booder didnt even get to play, (£20 well spent) I blame chilli and kev for putting too much pressure on me

Intersting cash game, probably the toughest £2-£2 game you are likely to see, red-dog, dingdell, chilli, thewy, compo, bobby1, tikay

Getting Bluffed by tikay with T high, He took great delight in showing me and the rest of the table, ;-)

Getting bck to the hotel and seeing the great news, the bar was still serving, yipee

Playing drunken heads up with nowab, flushy and aaron the baron

Ginger dealing flops for me and flushy to place prop bets on until they started serving breakfast

Going to said breakfast still with champagne, lol, classy!

Thats all i remember for now, once again a truly fantastic day, ill be making sure i have a clear schedule for the next one!

A few more from me (some the same as Mel's!)

Mel - ditto.  Really enjoyed our girlie chats, and late night tea party :)  oh, and perving over the young lads from Leicester City as we checked in to the hotel...kind of set the tone for the weekend!

Yep, the curry was a top laugh, don't forget Gatso too!  Those dirty boys and their chat have damaged my innocent little mind forever.

karaoke sit and go was fun for the 3 or 4 hands I was in it!

First best moment was opening the door to room 203 and seeing two single beds - my fears of Kev and double beds banished forever.

Catching up with Matt, Armo and Gatso - until we meet again be lucky.

Meeting the 'Real' Nakor fanclub - Mad and Brad truly wonderful people, I hope our paths cross when less distracted, less drunk with more time - a real pleasure, if life ever brings you south and in need of a cold drink just ask and I will be there.

Meeting that famous bloke off the telly everything I hoped he would be - Ed your charisma will take you far, I am sure that next appearance is just around the corner - good luck next week.

Tank and IFM true Blonde legends - for different reasons.  Now  Tank go to bed, and IFM get out of bed.

Teacake, Laz, Rod what can I say 9 hours of laughter, Magna's, stories, Flushy bashing, terrible service, poor food and the world glass mountain - simply brilliant, Teacake thanks for asking me to move chairs changed my day.

Western Roll nuff said.  My home game gonna hate me.

Dan, Claw, Mel, Ruthless, Ruben, Silo (sorry about the HU), Eric Stoner and so many others so good to meet you.

Tighty, Robert, Mrs Robert, Red, Mrs Red, Birthday boy, Ironside, Jen, Snoopy and Mrs C stars you are - take a bow.

Dewi I wanna be just like you when I grow up.

Flushy and Ginger, why can't the rest of the world be like you - from what little I got to know a wonderful attitude to life.

Mr Nowab, Julian, Micky W, Pab, AJ, M3, Flushy and the other 'Big Boys' thanks for being bothered.  Mr Nowab an amazing lesson into the finer arts of poker.

And last but not least, Booder and Kev for the sharing of Room and Car, two finer people it is difficult to find - Clacton here we come.

Where do I start, except to say it  was a fabulous weekend meeting so many people, who come from so many different background, ages, sexes, places etc.to get together under the BLONDE flag.

My ,fullest appreciation to all the Mods, who got this thing arranged, to the cardroom staff, for making everything run smoothly and to the well known players who made the effort to attend.

Finally, to a few of the BLONDES, I met,

Dewi,He and I started drinking in the village bar at 11am Joined soon by MEL and CLAW,
Then  by MR and MRS RED DOG, looking very dapper. Aspecial thank you to RED DOG, for pushing me over to KFC for our sunday chicken fest.

All the people in the queue, POPPET dishing out the name badges.

THE NUN, champion hugger.Charmaine(yes she really IS a nudist......Damn wasn't fast enough to sneak a look) Ruthless, CHILLI, lovely as ever,Ginger, and you know who,HARMONY, BAINN's better half, (lovely sandwich by the way)JEN ( Who  really can eat for ENGLAND

And of course MADASAHATSTAND, who knocked me out on the BUBBLE of a fun filled, tournament, which everyone took it so lightly.

All the male blonde's, whose names were to numerous to mention, but were all up for a good laugh.

INDESTRUCTABLE,L3ON and GATSO for all the help lifting my chair in and out of the car.

And finally to Birthday boy TIKAY, (where does he get the energy from) who surely has BLONDE,pumping through his veins,
.

Just a quick note to add my appreciation to everyone involved in putting together a great couple of days. Congratulations to the final tablers and it was great to watch the action when it got down to the last 4 or so players. I thought hatstands straight against simon was poker drama at its best....amd of course special congratulations to Mr k on his win. All in all a really great atmosphere and also thanks to the staff at the grosvenor who i thought did a great job. I played in the £20 rebuy on Sunday and I heard two separate dealers say what a great day it was on the Saturday, which was good to hear.

And it was also confirmed, if it was ever in doubt, that 7 4 offsuit is indeed the best starting hand in poker!!

See you all at bb4 and thanks again to all the organisers.

Possibly the strangest hand of the weekend was played about an hour into our 6 handed sng early monday morning. Blinds were still at 25-50 as we were all too drunk and lazy to bother with a clock.

I decided to limp utg before the cards were dealt, Bobby1 called, Dan raised and Claw moved all in. Flushy, being a big girl's blouse, decided to wait until after the deal to decide whether to call.
Being the luckiest person on earth Flushy gets dealt  Ad  Ahrt and moves in, Cupcake, Dan an myself all pass and  Dan calls.

Claw now realises that she's dealt herself 3 cards, Mel is called over and rules that her hand is dead but we decide to ignore the ruling and let her pick 2 of the 3. For some reason we now start picking cards out of the muck and find a jack to go with the 2 in Claw's hand so she wisely decides that the 1 outer is unlikely to be a good choice and picks the 2 spades. The aces eventually hold up but Flushy going into his true gent mode decides to give Claw some of her chips back to carry on playing, not a wise decision as he eventually bubbled and she cashed.

I must point out that I chose to go all-in blind, so hadn't picked my cards up yet - it wasn't a ruse as I had three cards to play with!  Reading that back it's a wonder we bothered asking for a ruling at all the way we were playing!

Here we go from what i can recall from a superb weekend.

Friday night met Kev, Ginger, Flushy, Robert, Suzanne, Ironside and some guy off the telly (think his name was dan?) excellent night.

Saturday decided to walk to the football as i had seen a sign when i walked to the casino the previous night for 6 a side football (that will be the place i said to myself!). phoned kev to get exact directions who puts tighty on "its 10 minutes from where you are" how was i to know he meant in a car!! Ended up getting a taxi "take me to goals driver and don't spare the horses" pulls up outside the "Globe Tavern". you would think people would be able to understand my highly polished Scottish eloquence  :dontask:

Get to football "you're now in team misfit - team Scotland are all in a pub in Wolverhampton watching the ABERDEEN game. (that's right isn't it tank?). Team misfit - well named and I blended in well - we were all mince.

Main event - (my first venture into live poker)

Got sat with teacake and Dingdell to my right who put me me at ease and made the experience not so nerve wracking as i had thought. UNTIL - call with  Kh Js in 1st position(that's as loose as i get) folds to the blinds who call. flop comes jack high checks to me i stick in probably a too weak bet can't remember think it was 300, Dingdell proceeds to bang in 3000! now at this point the old butt cheeks tightened considerably and have never passed top pair so quickly. Once i fold Dingdell admits she meant to call and put in the wrong chips GRRRRRRRRR   ;grr;

Proceeded to thoroughly enjoy the experience till busting most of my chips when my nemesis (sorry mate forgot to ask your name as i couldn't breath for a period) caught the only queen left in the pack to bust my kings.  ;frustrated; Live poker is so rigged!!!

But it just got better from there - won the heads up competition with a 100% record (played won - lost one) so a huge thank you to my team of absolute stars. Rod, Swordpoker, Leknave and especially Horneris who i had correctly predicted had my hopes for the weekend riding on his shoulders (and considerable hair-do) ;mexicanwave;

played a couple of sng's and managed to win one  coming back from the dead on a few occasion's.

Was great to meet all the rest of the Scottish guys Teacake, Lazaroonie, Tank, Rod, Swordpoker and Brad. Special mention to madasahatstand who my other half recognised as someone she know through work. which helped to dispel the image her image of poker players as some kind of mad gamblers (until she met Flushy on the sunday ;noflopshomer;)

Pity couldn't meet the rest of the Scots - was looking forward to meeting Scottish Dave as i was certain of a good laugh with him. and incredibly sorry billy didn't turn up as i would not have got fed up giving him a slap for the pain of me getting out of bed to get my brain messed up by that quiz. :tikay:

Need to finish now. When i remember more will post again

In the second hi/lo sng, it was down to three players, well six really, booder was on team tank, I was on team ginger and mel was on team flushy. Ginger was on the button and we held a rather unattractive 9823 double suited, we debated for a second what to do for a second, then we asked Bongo (who was dealing) to give us another card, he duly swaps our 8 for a suited 4, and Ginger then raises the pot. Flushy got Bongo to swap all four of his cards and then he still passed! :D

Okay time for the full version. Get up early on Saturday morning to buy Adam my 10 year old son kit for the new rugby season. He has his first training session on Sunday morning at Old Albanians (don't those eastern europeans get everywhere) just outside St. Albans.
So first decision of the day do we go to good sports shop in Watford, you know the sort of the thing, independent, manned by staff who know what they are doing etc. or go to Sports Soccer. Waste 45 mins in Sports Soccer fail to find what we are looking for get Adam home late for him to go out with Anne Marie (my better half) and Rachel our 7 year old daughter.
Anne Marie has woken up with a heavy cold. Sore throat, sniffles the works. "It's okay I won't go then I can take care of the kids". "No, on you must go. I know how much you are looking forward to it".
So off I set. Feeling guilty already. Check the traffic news on my mobi....."there is six mile queue between J1 and J2 of the M6. Severe delay avoid". I'm already at J14. Okay go to 21 and cut across the M69 (interesting name for a motorway). Phone call as I reach Cov from Anne Marie. "How are you?" says I. "Terrible. My cold is worse and the kids are misbehaving". "Okay I am coming home".Anne Marie insists I continue. So now I am almost at Walsall full of guilt and heading to a venue that I have visited 3 times without cashing. Marvellous
Check into my family sized room at the village. Hmmm lucky clothes. Choose a paricularly snug fitting quiet PS top and of course my brand new "Team Billy No Mates" cap......On leaving the hotel walk straight through the photography session for the wedding. Bride not amused.
Sit at lights leaving Village for Grosvenor look in rear view mirror and see some bloke I know from Luton aka Tighty. We wave. First time I've seen him since muscular problem. Good to see him again. Have been mentioned in a couple of his articles on Blonde.
Long queue outside casino. See lots of faces I know but more that I don't. Get my name tag. Start to mangle...no sorry mingle. Fret about total non appearance of heads up team. Keep bugging Poppet to see if name tags have been collected. Fill out forms for HU comp and pay money to Roberto. Promise him a hat.
From this point on I tried to speak to lots of people and I could not possibly name them all in case I forget somebody.
Called to table. First to arrive at table so leave sunglasses in seat and go for a walk. Arrive back at the table. 6 ladies. 4 Blokes. Wardonkey on my right Mel dealing on my left. Do my normal trick of falling asleep for first two levels and watching everybody else play whilst keeping up a steady monologue. The standard was good. Nice steady poker. Build up my stack. People coming and going. Lost in the tournament now. Still smiling, still laughing but somehow my subconcious kicks in. I get a feel that Mel has made a move with a stack. I call. We both had an ace. My kicker slightly better. Mrs Red joins table.Jen joins table. Starts getting busy straight away. I get moved. Cheer from the table. Sales of Ibuprofen about to go up on Table 5. Ah table 5. After the fun of table 2. I have now entered the library. Already told the story of Matt raising my BB etc. Stay here for about an hour and moved to Simon and Ironsides table. The noise level. Even I'm eclipsed. Pick up some chips. Good table want to stay here.
Get moved. Did a terrible thing with J9. Too embarassed to give full details. First and only bad mistake. Got lucky hit the straight to beat two pairs
Final table over average chips........take your time baby......grind it out. Simon is trying to needle. Been there done that. Anyway Mad has got his number and is sitting between us. The rest you know as it is in other posts.
Heads up comp has gone on without me. First match is two all. Still on final table. Lose my £20 when Danafish beats Diceman first hand.
I did not have nearly enough time to mingle and chat with people because I was so involved in the comp. but the people I did meet were without exception great to be with. This will be rectified at BB4.
I had to leave on the Sunday morning to watch Adam play rugby. I watched him put in the most amazing cover tackle sending the other kid 4 yards sideways. The whole family went out to celebrate at lunchtime.
I have not nearly done justice to the whole event but the rest will remain in the memory for a long time.
I am sitting in my office at home as I type this. Looking at the trophy. Smiling

a few more from me.

Players that particularly impressed me,
Jen, never sat with her live before. never saw her make the same move twice. lucky to pick up two big hands while she was 'dancin'
Madasahatstand. made all her decisions while looking her opponent straight in the eye. didnt see her make any wrong step all night.
Simon Nowab. I hate rude or agressive table talk but although he never shut up, there was no hint of that at all from him. I'm very much looking forward to playing him often when DTD opens.
Lightbreeze. wasn't sure at first but I was on the first table and semi final and final table with him and he was playing differently at all three stages. well timed aggression.
Teacake. but for a couple of massive races near the end he could easily have finalled with a mountain.

Aslo would like to mention an excellent ruling by Dani.
my BB Wardonkey UTG, Mrs Red mid position and Jen SB all limped. I check with  Ac 5c
flop is raggy with a 5 on it. checks round
turn brings a 2nd club. Jen bets out. I try a move and raise.
Wardonkey passes
Mrs Red calls (uh oh)
Jen passes. top pair top kicker I think.
river is a third club but pairs the board. I move all in
I hear Mrs Red say "Go on then"
I show my flush.
I hadn't heard the dealer ask "do you want to know how much?"
school boy error.
Dani made the perfectly sensible ruling that, because I was all in my hand stayed live and Mrs Red had free info. obviously if she has the boat she calls, if not she passes.
the reason I mention it is I'm possitive In Notts my hand would have been ruled dead. If I was lucky I'd get the unmatched river bet back, but I wouldnt guarentee it.

I think Mrs Red was calling so I cost myself chips and Mrs Red got another 30 mins at the table. (not a bad thing, nice lady)

Good Ruling Dani.

also,
Dave Compton - bigger than Id imagined
MikkyT - smaller than I imagined
Simon Nowab - louder than I expected
Wardonkey - drunker than I've ever seen a poker player
Jen - very strange mix of intimidating and pleasant.
Mad - similar but more unnerving than intimidating.

Woke up Friday morning, not believing I am actually still potentially going to a blonde bash! I've been looking forward to BB1 and then BB2, and had to miss both, so I really couldn't believe that I was going to be 3rd time lucky. Manage to scrape enough cash to be able to get to the bash. I have a job seekers cheque just paid in, thank god, and that should cover all but any extra STTs I want to do. My cash out from virgin and BPL hadn't arrived dispite waiting 4 days (at least the bowmans people kept me informed over the telephone!). Anyway, I go into town for a hair cut and peroxide (although I found none of that) and call mark to do a final check on the lift arrangements.

An uneventful Friday evening sees me winning back the money I cashed out from BPL, whilst downing half the contents of a litre bottle of vodka and a 2 litre bottle of coke. I gets a call from my sister in law at about 11:30pm, shes out of drink, so realising I'm too drunk to carry on playing, I head round there. Boy, its true that time really does fly, and another half a litre of vodka later (shared this time) I find myself walking into the house at 8:30am with my lift arriving in half an hour. Enough time for the three S's! (Sh**, shower, shave).

I check my bank account online to see if they have refunded the money they stole to pay off the overdue visa (without my permission!). Its Saturday and I know that they told me 3 days over the phone, but well, maybe God is on my side just once. My luck is in! They have! I can afford a hotel room now too, woooo.

An enjoyable journey down to Wasall saw Swordpoker (Mark) curing my fear of wasps with his NLP carry on. Very interesting that, its the sort of stuff Paul Mckenna and Derren Brown do. I start to wonder if this sort of thing could be used on the card table and we discuss the morales thereof!

Arrive at the casino far too early. A certain mr End had gotten the times mixed up, but it meant we could head back to the village and check out the liverpool everton derby. BIG MISTAKE. I was able to witness the most comical attempt at a save that Reina has ever had to make. Liverpool got beat. Bummer. But had a chance to sit and chat to the delightful Ruth and also her guest and his boxing exploits. Spoke to a few other faces, some I had met, like ever the gentleman Mr Red Dog and his lovely wife, and some I hadn't (sorry guys, so many names, so little time - I can't remember who was who this early on and feeling both drunk and tired!) and really started to think to myself what a wonderful bunch of people we have here on blonde. Its always said over the forum, but its nice to be able to confirm in person.

We head over to the casino and the queue as expected had started before the doors opened. I manage to blag my way onto the members only queue by politely pointing out that I had registered online and as a member of various other grosvenor casinos it isn't my fault that you don't accept online registrations. She still made me fill out the form though! But I beat the rush. Met some more wonderful blondes in the queue however, instantly reconsing madasahatstand who struggled to understand my "scottish" accent until she realised I wasn't scottish and her brain switched over to understanding scouse lol. We'd met briefly in Cincins but obviously I wasn't all that memorable lol ;)

I made a beeline for poppet because I had heard rumours..........that she was giving out name tags. Then I sat with the ever entertaining but bloody annoying ironside, and scottish eck, and had a slap up breakfast. Yum! Met various other blondes all eating before the event, suzanne (who I'm sorry I didnt get to talk to as much as I would like, even though I was in your company for some time back at the village, maybe next time!), Robert HM, what a star organising those heads up. A4 note pad out just like a real laywer  :D. Chatted to Charmaine at the bar and chilli, *WOLF WHISTLES* who also only just realised I was a scouser. She told me she had grew up not far from me, which was nice to know - shes lost her accent though lol. She does look hotter in the flesh :D Strangely it was her paying me the compliments, something that would continue throughout the day. I'm not used to all this attention, having been a kept man for the last far too many years. It was like being 18 again - prolly the last time I was single haha.

The event itself was very well run, I enjoyed the presentations beforehand. Well done guys! I had a reasonably quiet table, with Ruth to my right and we continued our chatting from the village. Chippie Leicester and his pal took it on themselves to start "playing daft" with blind raises and what not, and when I looked down at AK I thought it was a good time to capitalise. Unfortunately my raise on the flop, after their "raise and call in the dark", was too much strength and they folded. I was up to 6k at the first break without using my second set of 3k chips so that brought me to a 9k total. Managed a few steals and small pots during the next two levels, and then Iron joined the table and spoilt the party with his rather large mouth. I'm usually a mouthy git at the table, especially when newmanseye is around but at these sort of events I tend to stay quiet, play poker and be socialable. The banter can wait until the final, I told myself :D

Anyway, I lost over half my stack when my jacks clashed with AQ and he hit a four flush. Shortly before the break, I tried to make a steal on Ironsides big blind with K9 after he dared me to do it in the hand before. Unfortunately, the nervous looking blonde never heard my all-in, how rude! And promptly annouunced raise, throwing in a min raise. Chippie Lecester was quick to point out as the guy tried to fold his A10 that as he had announced raise, the raise stood and he had to go all in. BUMMER, keep your mouth shut next time pal ;) hehe, just kidding. Anyway, the flop hit me first, but then him so that was me out. Ironside claims he would have called with 23 (which appeared on the turn and river) but I don't believe him.

More to follow!

Just saying thanks to anyone who was involved in organising bb3

To many threads so i picked this one.

My night cut short by a horrible headache/migraine that sapped the fun for me a bit, still great to put faces to names.

Congrats to winners.

Rhow after what we thought was a Carlo dwell saying "sorry I was more interested in my lettuce".

Now that's something I thought I would never hear at a poker table.  :o
