Andy Black has lost a chunk of chips to John Hewston after an Aces vs Queens all-in encounter.

The board came 3-4-5-6, so Hewston was fearful of a chopped pot, but the Ace on the River was kind of emphatic.

What perhaps encouraged Andy to make the push with Queens was that John had been dealt the Aces before, but for no profit with everyone folding round to his small raise. This time, however, he deceived the table by limping with those darn bullets.

There was a bit of a kaffufle on Table Chessa.

Apparantly, the dealer called the clock on Tony Chessa, and when Chessa complained, he was informed by management that the dealer was entitled to do so.

If this is true, it really is a bizarre decision.

What if the dealer just doesn't like you? Can he just call the clock whenever he feels?

Doesn't sound right to me.

Anyhow, a few hands later I called the clock on Chessa too. According to the new rulings, I am totally entitled to take such action. (okay, maybe that bits false)  ;whistle;

A bit of a debate between the onlookers at Table Rousso (which is a lot of onlookers due to it being Rousso - WOMAN! GO GO GO! WOOHOO - sigh)

Anyhow, there was a pre-flop raise and a call, both Fronda and Rousso checked a Q-6-8 rainbow Flop, and then, suddenly, it all kicked off on the 8 Turn.

Rousso checked, Fronda bet 1.5k, Rousso raised 4k, Fronda made it 12k, before Rousso moved all-in for another 3,500 more.

... which Ryan eventually called with Ace high (A-9), shouting "Pot odds, but probably drawing dead"  :D

Rousso showed 8-6 for the house, thereby meaning Fronda was indeed drawing dead, but should he still call the 3,300?

Many are saying that it was a ball call (well, Mike 'luckyblind' Lacey), even for 3,300 and 10-1 pot odds, because "He HAS to be behind"

I still need convincing.

What do you reckon? Can he fold for 3,300? The call left him with 10k.

John Gale has just caused a bit of carnage on his table by knocking out two mateyboys in one hand. The three of them saw a  Jd 4h 8s flop and with both mateys quite short they both pushed on the flop and Gale quickly called.

As I arrived he was contemplating a call for all his chips. There had been a raise to 1100 and Womble had made it another 3k on top. A third player, two to his left had pushed all in for a further 6,000 or so. Eventually he called and found his pocket queens had come up against pocket kings and that was it for Orinoco.

He told me afterwards that he had only called because the guy had called the clock on him after he had thought for 2 minutes.

Had a chance to chat with Donnacha O'Dea during the break. He seems like a truly nice man. Granted, he could be an axe-murderer (some of them make very convincing nice people), but I sense he's a good egg.

He was very keen to indulge in a quick chin-wag. He has a certain tone to him that makes you feel completely at ease and as though you've know him for years.

He was talking about how he's finding it hard to concentrate with the Ryder Cup on. He's got 22,000, but hasn't had to play too many hands. Fortunately (or unfortunately), he's probably got the best seat in the house as his stack is directly facing the big projector screen that is showing the golf.


On the other hand, although Tann is normally the chirpiest guy around, when things are going bad, he tends to turn that into a frown.

To my request of a chip count, he replied sternly, "Very bad, 6,000", although I sensed that his downbeat spirit may have been influenced by one or two bets on a certain golf contest.

Mucho gracias for the updates amigos - next time you're doing the rounds if you see how Mr. Jeff Kimber is getting on a count would be appreciated. Spain had pirates too you know (or is it too late for that anyhow).

The button had 7s 6s which was good enough and held up.

Following on from JP's exit, there was an earlier hand that really crippled him, when a serial raiser from the cut-off raised again, JP made it 4k from the small blind with AQ, but the cut-off pushed for another 2k which JP had to call despite fearing the worst and was shown AK. An Ace came on the flop too, so even a flat call of the initial raise would probably have ended up with all the chips in the pot.

He was pretty quiet tonight, just steadily maintaining his stack.

He had a pretty hectic table with Sverre Sundbo, Vanessa Rousso, Ryan Fronda and co. Lots of big pots on that table, perhaps he was just sitting back waiting for his moment, or just trying to get by through playing less intimidating pots. Either way, it seems to have worked as he'll be playing Level 10 tomorrow.

I'm afraid Elky didn't quite make it through to Day 2, he went missing near the end.

Well that's your lot for tonight. As tikay said, I'm off to play the APAT tournament, but I know there is already going to be an excellent replacement. Can't say who though. ;)

I was worried that after two solid days of updating I might get sick of poker, but I'm just more desperate than ever to play tomorrow. So thanks to Snoopy, Jen and Jon for their guidance, as well as Jen and Dana for allowing me to kip on their couch the last couple of nights. And now I get to use this smiley.
