have a good day snoops..can't wait for these updates.

I would wish the Camel the best of luck but if I do that'd be the kiss of death for him (although I do hope he takes it down)..so best of luck to Rolf in that case...who's my second choice out of the remaining players.

As expected, we have some early casualties.

First to drop is Frenchman, Gilles Haddad, who looked down to see one Ace, shoved his 6k in, only to run into A-Q. His other card was a 6, which failed to pair.

And then, hendon mobber, Barny Boatman ran Kings into Nines.

Finally, it also appeared as though Norseman, Edgar Skjervold, was a gonna due to his suspiciously vacant seat, but on second glance he has been moved to the feature table with Rolf Slotboom, Keith Hawkins and Sigi Stockinger.

Paul Parker is still plugging away, although they remain very short stacked.

Edgar Skjervold is OUT.

A-J vs. the Queens of Rolf Slotboom.

Queen on the Flop was emphatic.

Tell Paul not to get carried away, still plenty of time to wait for the big hands!

And indeed here is Rolf, pictured playing on the TV table, with his newly obtained stack - very uniquely stacked too.

Some of you may alos spot his patented tic-tacs on top of his stack, he assures me that many people know him as the 'Tic Tac Man' due to this bizarre routine.

Aah well, I guess there are worse nicknames. Plus, he's always going to have minty fresh breath.

Unsurprisingly, perhaps, Rolf Slotboom gets to be on TV, with The Camel, no less.  It seems the Dutch hierarchy goes:  Marcel, Rolf, er... oh, Rob Hollink.  But he's not in.

The €200 rebuy tournament is running simultaneously - quite a lot of British players are in that, or hovering as alternates.  Apparently, the way they sort out the alternate draw is everyone who signs up drops their card in a hat, and the order of alternates is pulled out of that.  None of this first come first served stuff.

Actually, I have just been informed that Matt Tyler exited very late last night, the Day's bubble in fact.

He made his move with 4-5, but ran into the Pocket Aces of Jan Boubli.

Obviously, no improvement.

Speaking of Jerome Bradpiece, it seems as though he has overtaken Keith Hawkins as chipleader after eliminating H Kakoun.

Jerome made a very good call in fact and so fully deserved the massive pot he scooped.

Battle of the blinds, Jerome made up the small blind (I think), Kakoun raised, Jerome re-raised and Kakoun moved all-in.

Jerome put on his thinking cap (well, he had it on already) whilst Kakoun went into a (ahem) Kakoun, full poker face and everything.

Finally, the Brit made the call.

A-J for Jerome, A-8 for Kakoun.

Board = A-K-2-3-T and railbird James Akenhead clenches his fist in joy for his buddy. The man who should also be pleased is Mike Tse, who has 9% in Jerome. Apparantly they haggled between 5% and 10% to come up with 9. I think Jerome needs some pracitice in skilled negotiating though.

I'm afriad we have two more empty seats including Mark Vronsky and Paul Parker.

Paul's seat is definitely vacant, which can only mean 1 of three things:

(1) He is OUT
(2) He has moved tables and has gone to the loo making it difficult for me to spot him
(3) He took my gag about waiting for the final table before playing a hand seriously, popped out for some sexy time (http://milbut.org/smilies/00001655.gif) and has thus been blinded away.

A naughty part of me would like it to be option number 3, but I feel the first one is the more likely.

Yes, Jerome looks to be chip leader, as pointed out by an excited Paul Parker who's been positioned right on his right.  His chip stack is currently in the shadow thrown by his neighbour's 220k+.

Next door, Jan Peter Postmus gets it all in, called by Alexander Kuzmin with Ahrt Kh.  He had Ac Kc, and with two Kings on the flop, it was a split, while some wit on the rail calls, "King!"

Here we have Norwegian, Andreas Hagen, and British player, Dave Finney, probably a face that is more recognisable to our more experienced viewers.

In this battle of the generations, Andreas made it 4.2k, and Finney raised to a total of 16 from the cut-off.

Andreas Hagen is very meticulous in everything he does, taking his time on each and every decision. He is very stoic, especially behind those dark shades, and so it's never easy trying to work out how he feels about his hand and the raise behind him.

However, after much speculation, he mucked his cards, enabling Finney to add to his now 70k stack.

Double up for Sigi Stockinger on the TV table (he seems to be quietly popping up everywhere). On a flop of Ahrt Kd 4c, he moved in with Ad Js, and it mustn't have been for that much, as he got a pretty optimistic call from Mr. Biri with Kh Qc.
Turn:  2s
River:  5d

And he's still there.  Quietly.

Sverre Sunbo has doubled up D Makowsy with A-4 vs A-J

"Hearts," requested Sverre as the flop brought a Jack, but it wasn't to be and whilst Makowsky is now on 45k, Sverre is still running relatively strong with 90k, well above the average.

Title: Re: Amsterdam Master Classics: Day Three - Interactive
Post by: Djinn on November 10, 2006, 02:58:35 PM
Despite doubling someone up, Sverre seems in a pretty good mood - 90k+ from less than 3,000 yesterday puts him in strong contention for Climber of the Day (a little late in the bestowing, but still an accolade worth having).  "I have a good feeling about this one," he admits backstage in the break...

Some rather excellent mood lighting illuminates Surinder and neighbour Bruno Fitoussi here, and even on the rail the former's stare makes me feel like folding.

Title: Re: Amsterdam Master Classics: Day Three - Interactive
Post by: snoopy1239 on November 10, 2006, 03:03:58 PM
As I dance back into the cardroom, I am confronted with yet another massive pot, and one in which has propelled Jerome Bradpiece into a rather formidable chip lead with 285k.

As usual, my first glance at his table sees some Bradpiece chips in the pot (boy, he plays a lot of hands) with Frenchman, Bruno Fitoussi, raising behind him. Jerome, who had limped under the gun, smooth calls the re-raise before briskly check-raising the 7c 7s 4s Flop.

As expected, Bruno sticks in a bet of 9k, only for Jerome to make a deep reach and grab a chunk of 5,000's, pretty much setting Bruno all-in.

In a flash, Bruno moves in the rest of his stack and confidentally reveals Ac 7h and what he believes to be a dominating hand. Unfortunately for him, except for a full house, Jerome has one of the worst possible hands, 6s 5s, giving the Londoner both a straight draw and a flush draw.

And, as seems to be the pattern for the young Brit, the Turn brings a Three of Spades, and therefore a straight flush.

Of course, salt was rubbed in wounds and a disappointed Bruno was forced to witness the River bring a 4d.

So, up to 285k and Jerome is in hot form. Let's see if it continues...

We just spotted Jan Boubli loitering in the foyer, which either means he's taking a break or is OUT.

If he's a gonna, then that means he is the third Frenchman to exit along with fellow countrymen Gilles Haddad and Bruno Fitoussi.

Title: Re: Amsterdam Master Classics: Day Three - Interactive
Post by: Djinn on November 10, 2006, 03:16:29 PM
Rolf told me about his tournament ritual, which sounded somewhat far-fetched but has just been corroborated by Henning - "Every time it was his turn, he would wait ten seconds, move his chips, look at one card.  Wait.  Move the chips.  Pull his sunglasses down.  Look at the other card.  Wait.  Fold.  It was driving the whole table nuts.  So we gave him our chips..."

That does sound extremely annoying.  He seems to be doing a slightly abbreviated version of this on the feature table, and has his chips stacked in the most uncountable way imaginable (apparently another ritual, the flower at the bottom, and ludicrously tall towers of chips on and around it.  With that tic-tac box Snoopy mentioned perched on the top).  It is very odd seeing him in this context, the player Mr. Hyde compared to the updating Dr. Jekyll.

Blinds are 1000 and 2000 with a running ante of 300.

There are 41 players remaining with an average stack of 84,100.

Paul Parker is just below the average.

Paul moves his chip in twice in a row - and the second time Keith Hawkins gives him a spin... And the distinctive yet totally unexpected sound of the MC beatboxing fills the void while someone else thinks about calling...

Title: Re: Amsterdam Master Classics: Day Three - Interactive

Paul shows:  8s 8c
Camel shows: Td Ts
The third player who moved in too shows:  Ad  Kh

Flop:  2s Tc Jd
Turn:  2d
River:  Jc

And the Camel performs a double elimination with the house.

Erich Kollmann is OUT.

He raised pre-flop with A-4, was called in the Big Blind by D Makowsky who had 5-3 of diamonds. The Flop came A-2-6 with two diamonds. Makowsky bet, Kollmann moved all-in and Makowsky called. Turn was a black 4 and Kollmann missed his full house on the Rive. Makowsky is now on around 60k.

Jan Boubli moves all in for over 100k, giving initial raiser Keith Hawkins on the button a decision (Jan's on his right so it must have gone call/raise, raise/re-raise from Keith, re-raise all-in for a lot from Jan).  Anyway, it's a pass.  Next!

J Petersen doubles up in dramatic circumstances, he couldn't resist a bang of the table either...

M Vlek raises from under-the-gun with A-K, shortstacker Petersen makes his move with A-J and Vlek calls.

Flop = A-9-7

Interestingly, Paul Parker decided to fold Sevens just before his exit. Jan Sjavik had raised to 5k under the gun, leaving Paul a tough decision with his shortstack of 15k. Although he folded, Rolf Slotboom and Keith Hawkins were adamant that he should have made his move there and then.

As we always say, poker is a game of opinions, but I'm with Paul, I don't like calling there. But then again, I haven't won as much as Mr Hawkins or Mr Slotboom.

Hello ;D

Back home with my tail between my legs.

I've been lucky enough to play poker all over the world this year, and i have to say this is the best comp i have ever played in. The Dutch are wonderfully polite, friendly and funny people (schtoooop), they run a fantastic comp- the structure was incredible, they charge no juice, they provide free drinks and buffet, they added huge amounts of money and 9 wsop main event seats- Jeeees this comp is a must play for me next year. Oh... and in some parts of town beautiful women stand in doorways waving at you to come in for a 'chat'... jeees there sooo friendly. ;gobsmacked; :-* ::)

Best of luck to Keith, and as both Thewy and myself are jockeys- he's a cert!

Fab updates snooops and jen- keep em coming!

Something's happened to Alexander Kuzmin, and it's not good - he's down to just 15,300 (on the TV table) and moves all-in... but no callers, even though the blinds are Rolf and Jan Boubli... (he shows AK).  Paul Parker commentates:  "Just goes to show, you can get your bets through, even with a small stack."

12k 700/1,400 (200)

Okay, here's a question for you.

Which option would you rather choose?

(1) Pay €5,000 for an equal stack of 10k and 350 players (ie, normal comp)

or

(2) Buy into the comp for €5,000 with 12k (700/1,400 blinds) and just 54 players left (which was Paul's Day 3 position).

And as quick as he accrued them, Jerome Bradpiece has conceded his chip leaded and given a chunk of spondoolies to Norseman, Sverre Sundbo.

Sverre raised to 3,600 pre-flop, Jerome called from the bug blind.

Flop = Qs 7s 4d

Jerome checks, Sverre bets, Jerome re-raises, Sverre moves all-in and Jerome calls.

Jerome = 6s 3s

Sverre = Ac Ad

Turn and River both miss Jerome, which means he is now down to 175k whilst Sverre jumps up to 240k.

12k 700/1,400 (200)

Okay, here's a question for you.

Which option would you rather choose?

(1) Pay €5,000 for an equal stack of 10k and 350 players (ie, normal comp)

or

(2) Buy into the comp for €5,000 with 12k (700/1,400 blinds) and just 54 players left (which was Paul's Day 3 position).

no doubt nr1 for me.

nr2 would be like playing a super turbo game..either you double up within 2 rounds or you're F'ed...I don't like turbo's :)

Short stack Alexander Kuzmin makes a stand, re-raising Jan Sjavik to 20,300 preflop.  Unsurprisingly, he gets a call - Jan has Kh Kc.  But Alexander has Ad Ahrt -
The board comes - 5d 2h 3h Tc 2s and "all in stays in."

Pan camera right, and neighbour Ross Boatman, slightly less smiley (and in focus, sorry).  JJ looked to remedy this, saying, "Shall I tickle his knee?"  But the surprise factor would have been lessened through forewarning, I feel.

Daniel Bertelsen moves in under the gun (30k -ish).  It folds to big blind Andreas Hagen who passes quickly, showing Ac 9h.  "The first card was an Ace," he remarks in case people didn't recognise it.  JJ pipes up, "I was very, very tempted..."  Going to ask him what he had.

Title: Re: Amsterdam Master Classics: Day Three - Interactive
Post by: snoopy1239 on November 10, 2006, 04:53:56 PM
Andreas Hagen raises to 9k, JJ Hazan makes it 25 from the button.

Flop = 4d 4c 5h

Hagen checks, Hazan moves all-in for around 100k.

"Will you show me if I fold," inquires Hagen.

"You just make your decision and do whatever you feel is right," replies a calm Hazam.

And indeed, Hagen did fold.

This might interest some of you rebels out there.

Table Sundbo just realised that they'd been playing Seven handed for quite a while with the other 3 tables playing 9-handed.

As a result, they all agreed to go on a 'strike' in which they refused to play any hands.

Bravo, I say.

Ross Boatman is low, but grateful to have made it into the money.

For some reason, my tiny brain had convinced me that it was the last 18 that were being paid, and so I foolishly asked Ross if he'd pay 5k for his current position as a shorstacker. He looked at me rather blankly and replied, "Of course, I'm in the money already. Now if it was 10k then it's a different matter, but I'd still stump up the 10k to be where I am now."

1st -- €690,000
2nd -- €345,000
3rd -- €172,500
4th -- €112,125
5th -- €86,250
6th -- €60,375
7th -- €43,125
8th -- €34,500
9th -- €25,875
10th -- €20,700
11th -- €20,700
12th -- €20,700
13th -- €17,250
14th -- €17,250
15th -- €17,250
16th -- €13,800
17th -- €13,800
18th -- €13,800

And the bit I missed off...

19th - 27th receive €5,000

The TV table commentator just commentated on the Camel picking up some uncontested chips, referring to him as "Mr. Keith."  I think that's great.

Now Rolf raises to 14,300; Michael Keiner moves all-in - total bet 38,300.

Rolf stands up, the sunglasses go up, the chips measuring the call get put in a ministack, and over the line...

Michael shows:  Aspades Js
Rilf shows:  8h 8d

Flop:  Tc Kh 4c
Turn:  5d
River:  Ac

And Michael Keiner survives, saved by the river.  I don't think his opponent can be too annoyed by this.

Gigantic hand now!

Sigi Stockinger moves all-in with A-K, Thierry van der berg re-raises to 90k with Jacks and Jan Sjovik moves all-in with Aces.

Thierry made a good fold, but he won't have like the Flop.

x-J-Q-x-x

A straight draw opened up for Sigi, but the miracle Ten failed to arrive and he is therefore OUT.

Other news...

Surinder Sunar departed around the bubble, although after a strong start to the comp, he was shortstacked most of today.

Sverre Sundbo has taken a huge hit and is down to 140k.

JJ Hazam and Sverre saw a flop of 5d 6s 3s, JJ bet 40k, Sverre made it 140k, JJ moved all-in and Sverre called.

Sverre = 7c 7d

JJ = Ts 8s

Turn = Qc

River = 9s

Hazam now has over 400k.

Meanwhile, Devilfish must have something in his eye as he appears to be winking at every man, woman and dog.

I'm not sure why, but I tend to enjoy watching Jan Sjavik.

Don't get me wrong, he's by no means an exciting player, but I must confess to being intrigued when he's in a hand, simply because I know he's probably got everything figured out.

This time, however, he got it slightly wrong, although probably lost as little as possible given the circumstances.

Pre-flop, Michael Keiner raised it up under-the-gun only for Jan to smooth call just one seat along.

When the Flop brought a 3d Qc 8s, Michael checked and Jan confidentally bet out 15k.

Michael called and both men checked the Seven of Hearts Turn, neither player looking particularly comfortable.

And, in a rather timid play, both men checked the River too, which, incidentally, was a Ten of Hearts.

Jan showed Jacks, but Michael took the pot with K-Q.

I wonder if Jan calls a bet on the River there...

A message to his fans from Keith 'The Camel' Hawkins...

"Can someone get me a beer and two Aces please?"

"I haven't seen a hand for ages," he moaned, "I eliminated Paul and everyone folded to my Kings, but apart from that I've been pretty card dead."

"The feature table's a nightmare," he continued. "Every hand takes 5 minutes, with all the stop and starting. And then you've got everyone dwelling up on each decision, it's ridiculous."

Andreas Hagen gets moved to Rolf's right after this tough decision:

He's up against J. van Hoof - they've gotten to the turn:  8d Qs Ahrt Ac.  A decent pot has evolved (at least 50k) and it looks like Mr. Hoof moved in on the second Ace turn.  A very long dwell, before the contemplative Hagen passes, showing Aspades...

Still with fairly decent chips, almost as soon as he arrives at his new table, he gets a walk in the big blind.  Breaking one of my calming rules (don't look if you don't have to), he says, "good choice" to both the small blind and preflop dweller Rolf Slotboom, showing Js Jc...

German player Matthias Stieger is OUT.

His raise under-the-gun found a caller in the small blind from Sverre who then check-called the 4-4-8 Flop.

Sverre had Pocket Sixes which stood up against the German's Ace King with the Turn and River bring  harmless 9 and 3.

I think a good indicator of whether Sverre's tiltmeter might be on the rise is how large a percentage of the time he spends standing up near his chair, as opposed to sat on it.  Just now, he was having a quick chat and the dealer mucked his under the gun hand.  Not happy after his recent chip loss, there was a brief threaten of a toys-out-of-pram moment.  But no, all under control.

And beneficiary of earlier outdraw, JJ, calls Devilfish's min raise on the button from the big blind.  Flop comes Js 2s 9s.  He bets out 35k straight away.  Fold from the Fish, and he shows the Aspades.

Just as I was having a brief word with the Camel, he found a hand from early position and decided to nochently stick in a 10k raise. A move which provoked Rolf Slotboom to comment, "Careful now, I'm your editor, you don't want to lose your column."

Although Andreas Hagen smooth called, Rolf, who was lying in wait from the big blind, undertook his usual routine of, sit there looking blank, caress his chips, and shove out two columns, before dipping his head and hiding his face.

Camel folded (I knew his hand but I won't tell, just tease) and so did Hagen.

Rolf rakes in the pot, but is still shortstacked in comparision to everyone else at the table.

Just witnessed an all Dutch clash between Rolf Slotboom and Thierry Van Der Berg, the latter having a whole heap of support on the rail - I think that was the giveaway that he was Dutch. (Oh yeah, that and it says so on my sheet)

Anyhow, the two players were all-in for one of those classic coin flip situations, with Rolf holding Queens against his foe's A-K.

King on the Flop and it was all over unless Rolf hit a Queen for Trips or A Jack for a Gutshot. Neither came and Rolf is struggling with just 50k.

What was more bizarre was Rolf yapping something in Dutch to the dealer and the cards as the board was being dealt, no idea what he was saying, but it was probably something like "I'm the daddy, send me a Queen mofo, shizzle mi nizzle and stick a Jack on da felt, I slap yo mamma, I am the king of the castle..." (or something like that, my Dutch isn't quite up to scratch)

Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott is OUT.

All-in of a 9-A-x flop with A-Q versus the Pocket Nines of Jorrit van Hoof.

Incredibly, he didn't looked best please, f'ing and blinding under his breath as he rose from his seat.

"Where's my money?" he asked. Time to hit the bar mi thinks... (http://milbut.org/smilies/drink.gif)

And what's best is that as soon as he left the table, someone grabbed him for a photo. To say Dave wasn't all smiles would be an understatement.

Out of them, I would imagine D Makowsky will be next as he only has around 35k.

Juicy hand as reported by a cash-playing James Akenhead (who failed to get in as an alternate in today's tournament, even though Karl whom he put in the draw was picked first) -

Sverre raised on the cutoff with pocket Tens.  Small blind re-raised and big blind re-re-raised.  It turned out (after Sverre passed the Tens) that they had KK and AA respectively.  One of those "wish I hadn't made the right fold" moments coming up, though, as one Ten fell on the flop, and another graced the river.

Your little drinking smiley looks to me like someone liberally applying Tabasco to themselves and then suffering the consequences.  Or drinking ketchup (which I did age seven and haven't been able to touch the stuff since).

Sverre Sundbo: "I've still got over 200k, but I'm still thinking about the hand with Hazam when he called with a flush draw. I can't beleive he made that play, I can undertsand it's me making the final call, but not when it's him, with just a fliush draw. Probably one of the worst plays I've seen in the latter stages of a comp like this. I would have been on over 600k if I'd have won that one"

Dave Finney: "Get me a coffee, will someone get me a coffee please?"

I guess the players have different things on their minds.

Sverre Sundbo takes another hit.

He raised pre-flop with Qd Jd and received a call from Jerome Bradpiece, who had him slightly pipped with Ac Jc

Flop = 8h Kc 2c

Sverre bets out 10.2k and Jerome smooth calls.

Turn = 7d

Sverre bets out 40k and, once again, Jerome calls.

River is a 9 of hearts and both players back down and check it out, with Jerome taking the pot with his Ace high.

"I didn't have the guts," weeped Sverre as he glanced down at his depleted stack of 140k.

The blinds are currently 3,000 and 6,000 with a running ante of 500.

The bizarre thing about this cardroom is that they don't have the clock on display, which, as Paul Parker said, isn't a pain if you're short-stacked.

Ross Boatman finishes in 21st place

On table televised, Alex Jalali Abadi raised two consecutive hands to 20k preflop, once utg+1, and once, necessarily, under the gun.  The second time, Ross came over the top, all in.  Call.

Ross showed:  Ts Th
Alex showed:  Ks Kc

The board flushed one of the Kings - 2s 9s 3d Js 7s, but that was the icing on the cake, and a round of applause for Mr. Boatman as he leaves the feature table with six players...

They've done a strange thing.  Having had no 500 denomination chips for the entirety of the tournament, thus forcing much changing of the 1000s for 100s, they've now gotten rid of all the 100 chips and brought out red 500s which are, when one grows tired, easily confused with the pink 5,000 ones.  But it makes for easier anteing.

Well, it looks like we're down to 18 now as we've lost two players in quick succession and they're breaking up one of the tables.

The first to go was D. Makowsky, who made his move with T-8, only to run into the Pocket Jacks of Jonathan Fhal.

And then, just moments later we had a camera crew enticing hand on the other table between Rolf Slotboom and M Neuteboom.

Neuteboom raised 20k pre-flop and Rolf moved all-in.

As Neuteboom dwellt and the cameras flooded in, Rolf moved into his traditional shades on, head dipped posture whilst his fellow countryman considered his options.

Eventually, Neuteboom made the call, and although he wasn't comfortable with his K-Qo, he was even more fidgety when he caught sight of Rolf's Pocket Aces.

As before, Rolf started yapping away at the dealer as the cards were being dealt. I think he calls cards or something. On this occasion he was shouting "Kleine Carten, Kleine Carten, Kliene Carten (or something like that)", which I assume means 'small cards.'

For anyone who knows Rolf, this seems very out of character as he is usually such a reserved man, very softly spoken and rarely brash or aggressive... however, at the poker table, the Slotboom turns into a man possessed.

And ultimately, it was small cards he got as the Flop brought T-5-4. The Queen on the Turn was a fearsome sight, but not after the 2 hit the River to give Rolf the pot and eliminate Neuteboom.

18 left.

Big big hand news now.

(http://i6.ebayimg.com/02/i/07/f6/e4/25_2.JPG)

JJ Hazan raises from the button, Jan Sjavik re-raises from the big blind and HAzan moves all-in.

After a birefish spell in the think tank, Sjavik eventually makes a good call with Pocket Tens, a coinflip situaiton against Hazan's Ace King.

Board = Ahrt 3h Jd 9h Kh

... and Hazan jumps up to a massive 450k, leaving Sjavik with 130,000.

Those are the crucial ones...

"I think I can tip you a few quid," suggests Hazan.

And we've lost another, this time Brit Dave Finney, who really is one of those under-the-radar type players, rarely seen playing a big pot, yet always seems to make it through to the latter stages.

And he got his money in ahead too, re-raising Jonathan Fahl all-in with Tens, only for Fahl's A-4 to Flop an Ace.

Although the Kh Aspades 6s looked grim, the Qs created 9 more outs to the flush draw, but the final spade never arrived and a bad beat takes out Finney in what I believe is 18th place.

The Norwegian found a pretty strong holding in A-Q, but it was ultimately no match for Alexander Kuzmin's A-K, which held up on a board of K-Q-3-4-4, eventually making four to a flush on the River.

16 players remaining.

I think they're aiming to play down to a final table of 9, but with the casino closing at 2 (so I've been told), they may be forced to come back tomorrow with one or two extra, especially with the 90 minute clock and still relatively small blinds.

Irishman Tommy Watson is OUT in very exciting fashion.

Classic 50-50 with Tommy and Frenchman Alex Jalali Abadi, Queens (Tommy) versus A-K all-in pre-flop.

But how about this for a board?

9c Th Jc Ks Qs

A cruel River for Tommy and the Irishman exits in 16th.

That was the last hand of that level, we are currently on a short break.

Scoopy here with the low-down on the Camel double-up.

Apparantly, it wasn't Jerome, in fact Bradpiece doubled up Sjovik. The Camel's extra chips came from the Frenchman, Fahl, two seats down, when Keith re-raised him all-in with A-Q. Fahl showed A-K, but the Camel spiked a Queen on the flop and then another on the River.

Now that's just greedy, surely.

Back after the break (I mean here, me - I had one of those table power naps) - and Rolf has raised fairly big, with Meno Vlek pushing in.  Rolf calls, reluctantly, showing, well, see for yourself:

Rolf 4s 5s

Flop:  8s 9c 2d
Turn: Ts
River:  6s

Pundit Snoopy says, "That's gotta hurt, at this stage."  Yes, I imagine Mr. Vlek's not delighted with that river.  He's OUT.

The Camel has doubled up Jerome Bradpiece with K-9 vs A-7 on a J-J-3-A-Q board.

Jerome, who is now on 100k, was wearing his biggest smile of the week.

Michael Keiner is OUT.

He raised all-in from the button for around 45k. Both Jorrit van Hoof (small blind) and JJ Hazan (big blind) called, which was probably one too many for the German who held Pocket Eights.

Flop = 7c Kd 5c

Jorrit counted out 45k and considered making a bet (although he may have been trying to intimidate Hazan into checking), before finally tapping the table.

Hazan checked instantly behind him and they quickly checked it down to the end.

Turn = 3s

River = Ks

And Hazan takes the pot with Kh Jh.

Jorrit mucked his hand.

Okay, it's not a problem as long as you aren't copying and pasting the content, but I don't understand why you'd ask now rather than beforehand.

You could always link them into blonde to increase our viewers rather than passing the info across. If it's a matter of translation, then I'd appreciate it if blonde were credited in some way, if only as a friendly gesture.

I hope that doesn't seem too arsey, but Jen and I work very hard to provide this information.

Thanks for letting us know though.

Exciting stuff here in Amsterdam!

But that's enough about the hookers, there's been another double up, and again it's Jerome Bradpiece, who appears to be involved in every pot under the sun.

All pre-flop, he moved all-in for around 120k with A-Q only to be called from the button by Hazan and his Nines.

Flop = 4c Tc 3d

Turn = Js

River = As

And for this very moment, the chap in the cap is the happiest man in the building.

Title: Re: Amsterdam Master Classics: Day Three - Interactive
Post by: Djinn on November 11, 2006, 12:19:51 AM
Noise:  JJ shouting "NINE!"

Reason for it:  JJ raised preflop to 25k with Ad Jh, Sverre pushed in over the top for about 140k in total.  Call.  Sverre has Ad Ks.
The Nine was the crucial card in bringing a straight for JJ Hazan, and knocking the Norseman out in 13th place.  It looks like JJ has been his calling nemesis - no escape there and a very disheartened looking Sverre is moping around the press room.

I join the action with Jerome Bradpiece (yep, him again  :D) deep in the think tank.

Jan Sjavik is all-in and the Flop is Jh 2c 9c

According to my reliable source, the action went thus:

Jan raised to 25k pre-flop and Jerome flat called from the button.

Jan bet 20k on the Flop, Jerome made it 75k and Jan moved all-in for about 95k more.

Jerome eventually made the call with A-J, but found himself up against Pocket Cowboys.

Two blanks on the Turn and River and the pot goes to the plucky Norwegian.

Jan Boubli doubles up with a no-nonsense hit-a-flush-on-the-flop kind of hand (all in pre, though).  I just missed the chip count from that table, however, as I was sidetracked by relating a conversation I just had with a very excitable Mike Tse, whose 9% in the form of Jerome Bradpiece has made a remarkable comeback from around 50k...

11 players remaining.

2 two go till they end the day's play.

Blinds are currently 4,000 and 8,000 with a running ante of 1,000.

It's all go here, double ups everywhere.

The next one comes from Table Camel and resulted in a yelp of delight, hands raised, from Frenchman Jonathan Fahl, thankfull without a bang of the table.

It all went in on the flop, but it was Jorrit van Hoof who made the initial pre-flop raise, only to receive two callers in Fahl and Jerome who were sitting in the small and big blind respectively.

The Flop came 3h 4c Jc, Fahl bet out 60k, Bradpiece folded and Jorrit re-raised. Fahl moved all-in and Jorrit called.

Jorrit = 5d 6d

Fahl = 5c 7c

Monsters, eh?

Turn = Tc

River = 5s

"I can't believe he stuck all those chips in on a flush draw," commented a shocked Mel Judah.

I make it up the stairs again in time to see the Camel push all in for his 150k from the big blind over the top of JJ Hazan's 29k raise preflop.  We are treated to a very long dwell from JJ, and then a totally unexpected pass face-up of Ac Qh.  I would have bet money on him not doing that, and clearly so would Keith... he showed 9h 9c with a bemused expression.

Big Hands Get Televised News Now -

Proving once and for all that Rolf Slotboom has been blessed by a higher power, he raises with Ks Kh (fair enough) and then calls the all-in re-raise of Thierry van der Berg.  Who has Ad Ahrt.

Flop:  4d Qc Th
Turn:  Kc   (you can just imagine the collective intake of breath from the Dutch here)
River:  4h

This means that Thierry is the 11th place finisher, and Rolf is as jammy as a dodger.

I hate to contradict you, renowned beagle, but the TD just clarified that one table will play a hand, then the other table, then the first one again.  Thus making a tiring and lengthy process lengthier, and more tiring.  Marvellous.

And the bubble has burst!  At the risk of stealing this story from the far more energetic Snoopy who's upstairs, I am going to steal this story from the far more energetic Snoopy.

Sergei, short stacked for a while, moved in into Rolf's raise on the first hand back after the break.  He had a last-ditch sort of Aspades 2h.
Rolf held:  Js 6s

Flop:  9s Qc Th
Turn:  Jd
River:  Qh.

Down to Nine then, as Sergei Pevzner finishes in 10th place...

This hand was my big chance of the day.

When Jerome called on the button I was sorely tempted to see the flop with Tc 8c from the sb.

However, it was approximately 15% of my chips and it would left it open for the BB to correctly move allin on a steal.

I would have flopped an open ended straight draw and a flush draw, and depending how the hand played out, I would definitely have doubled up and possibly have tripled up as one the two blanks that arrived was a club.

Would anyone have called in my spot here?

On the whole I played very tight yesterday. I had 120 bb's to start with and really did't see the point of getting involved unless I had the goods. When the blinds finally started to bite I really didn't have many favourable situations apart from this one. However it is testament to the amazing structure of thsi tournament that I finshed the day with 10k less than I started with and I still have a playable stack.

I've made the main event final here twice before and played badly both times. Let's hope I don't make it an unhappy hattrick!
