As expected, we have some early casualties.

First to drop is Frenchman, Gilles Haddad, who looked down to see one Ace, shoved his 6k in, only to run into A-Q. His other card was a 6, which failed to pair.

And then, hendon mobber, Barny Boatman ran Kings into Nines.

Finally, it also appeared as though Norseman, Edgar Skjervold, was a gonna due to his suspiciously vacant seat, but on second glance he has been moved to the feature table with Rolf Slotboom, Keith Hawkins and Sigi Stockinger.

Paul Parker is still plugging away, although they remain very short stacked.

I have just been informed that Matt Tyler exited very late last night, the Day's bubble in fact.

He made his move with 4-5, but ran into the Pocket Aces of Jan Boubli.

Obviously, no improvement.

Jerome Bradpiece has overtaken Keith Hawkins as chipleader after eliminating H Kakoun.

Jerome made a very good call in fact and so fully deserved the massive pot he scooped.

Battle of the blinds, Jerome made up the small blind (I think), Kakoun raised, Jerome re-raised, Kakoun moved all-in and Jerome called.

Sverre Sunbo has doubled up D Makowsy with A-4 vs A-J

"Hearts," requested Sverre as the flop brought a Jack, but it wasn't to be and whilst Makowsky is now on 45k, Sverre is still running relatively strong with 90k, well above the average.

As I dance back into the cardroom, I am confronted with yet another massive pot, and one in which has propelled Jerome Bradpiece into a rather formidable chip lead with 285k.

As usual, my first glance at his table sees some Bradpiece chips in the pot (boy, he plays a lot of hands) with Frenchman, Bruno Fitoussi, raising behind him. Jerome, who is had limped under the gun, smooth calls the re-raise before briskly check-raising the 7c 7s 4s Flop.

As expected, Bruno sticks in a bet of 9k, only for Jerome to make a deep reach and grab a chunk of 5,000's, pretty much setting Bruno all-in.

In a flash, Bruno moves in the rest of his stack and confidentally reveals Ac 7h and what he believes to be a dominating hand. Unfortunately for him, except for a full house, Jerome has one of the worst possible hands, 6s 5s, giving the Londoner both a straight draw and a flush draw.

And, as seems to be the pattern for the young Brit, the Turn brings a Three of Spades, and therefore a straight flush.

Of course, salt was rubbed in wounds and a disappointed Bruno was forced to witness the River bring a 4d.

So, up to 285k and Jerome is in hot form. Let's see if it continues...

Rolf told me about his tournament ritual, which sounded somewhat far-fetched but has just been corroborated by Henning - "Every time it was his turn, he would wait ten seconds, move his chips, look at one card.  Wait.  Move the chips.  Pull his sunglasses down.  Look at the other card.  Wait.  Fold.  It was driving the whole table nuts.  So we gave him our chips..."

That does sound extremely annoying.  He seems to be doing a slightly abbreviated version of this on the feature table, and has his chips stacked in the most uncountable way imaginable (apparently another ritual, the flower at the bottom, and ludicrously tall towers of chips on and around it.  With that tic-tac box Snoopy mentioned perched on the top).  It is very odd seeing him in this context, the player Mr. Hyde compared to the updating Dr. Jekyll.

Paul moves his chip in twice in a row - and the second time Keith Hawkins gives him a spin... And the distinctive yet totally unexpected sound of the MC beatboxing fills the void while someone else thinks about calling...

He raised pre-flop with A-4, was called in the Big Blind by D Makowsky who had 5-3 of diamonds. The Flop came A-2-6 with two diamonds. Makowsky bet, Kollmann moved all-in and Makowsky called. Turn was a black 4 and Kollmann missed his full house on the Rive. Makowsky is now on around 60k.

Something's happened to Alexander Kuzmin, and it's not good - he's down to just 15,300 (on the TV table) and moves all-in... but no callers, even though the blinds are Rolf and Jan Boubli... (he shows AK).  Paul Parker commentates:  "Just goes to show, you can get your bets through, even with a small stack."

Still with fairly decent chips, almost as soon as he arrives at his new table, he gets a walk in the big blind.  Breaking one of my calming rules, he says, "good choice" to both the small blind and preflop dweller Rolf Slotboom, showing Js Jc...

German player Matthias Stieger is OUT.

His raise under-the-gun found a caller in the small blind from Sverre who then check-called the 4-4-8 Flop.

Sverre had Pocket Sixes which stood up against the German's Ace King with the Turn and River bring  harmless 9 and 3.

I think a good indicator of whether Sverre's tiltmeter might be on the rise is how large a percentage of the time he spends standing up near his chair, as opposed to sat on it.  Just now, he was having a quick chat and the dealer mucked his under the gun hand.  Not happy after his recent chip loss, there was a brief threaten of a toys-out-of-pram moment.  But no, all under control.

And beneficiary of earlier outdraw, JJ, calls Devilfish's min raise on the button from the big blind.  Flop comes Js 2s 9s.  He bets out 35k straight away.  Fold from the Fish, and he shows the Aspades.

Juicy hand as reported by a cash-playing James Akenhead (who failed to get in as an alternate in today's tournament, even though Karl whom he put in the draw was picked first) -

Sverre raised on the cutoff with pocket Tens.  Small blind re-raised and big blind re-re-raised.  It turned out (after Sverre passed the Tens) that they had KK and AA respectively.  One of those "wish I hadn't made the right fold" moments coming up, though, as one Ten fell on the flop, and another graced the river.

On table televised, Alex Jalali Abadi raised two consecutive hands to 20k preflop, once utg+1, and once, necessarily, under the gun.  The second time, Ross came over the top, all in.  Call.

The board flushed one of the Kings - 2s 9s 3d Js 7s, but that was the icing on the cake, and a round of applause for Mr. Boatman as he leaves the feature table with six players...

They've done a strange thing.  Having had no 500 denomination chips for the entirety of the tournament, thus forcing much changing of the 1000s for 100s, they've now gotten rid of all the 100 chips and brought out red 500s which are, when one grows tired, easily confused with the pink 5,000 ones.  But it makes for easier anteing.

After a birefish spell in the think tank, Sjavik eventually makes a good call with Pocket Tens, a coinflip situaiton against Hazan's Ace King.

Although the Kh Aspades 6s looked grim, the Qs created 9 more outs to the flush draw, but the final spade never arrived and a bad beat takes out Finney in what I believe is 18th place.

Andreas Hagen is OUT.

The Norwegian found a pretty strong holding in A-Q, but it was ultimately no match for Alexander Kuzmin's A-K, which held up on a board of K-Q-3-4-4, eventually making four to a flush on the River.

Irishman Tommy Watson is OUT in very exciting fashion.

Keith Hawkins doubled up when his A-Q all-in re-raise was called by Fahl's A-K. Queen on the Flop and another on the River gave Keith the pot.

Michael Keiner is OUT.

He raised all-in from the button for around 45k. Both Jorrit van Hoof (small blind) and JJ Hazan (big blind) called, which was probably one too many for the German who held Pocket Eights.

Flop = 7c Kd 5c

Jorrit counted out 45k and considered making a bet (although he may have been trying to intimidate Hazan into checking), before finally tapping the table.

Hazan checked instantly behind him and they quickly checked it down to the end.

Turn = 3s

River = Ks

And Hazan takes the pot with Kh Jh.

Jorrit mucked his hand.

Jerome Bradpiece has shot up to 250k.

All pre-flop, he moved all-in for around 120k with A-Q only to be called from the button by Hazan and his Nines.

Noise:  JJ shouting "NINE!"

Reason for it:  JJ raised preflop to 25k with Ad Jh, Sverre pushed in over the top for about 140k in total.  Call.  Sverre has Ad Ks.
The Nine was the crucial card in bringing a straight for JJ Hazan, and knocking the Norseman out in 13th place.  It looks like JJ has been his calling nemesis - no escape there and a very disheartened looking Sverre is moping around the press room.

I join the action with Jerome Bradpiece deep in the think tank.

According to my reliable source, the action went thus:

Jan raised to 25k pre-flop and Jerome flat called from the button.

Jan bet 20k on the Flop, Jerome made it 75k and Jan moved all-in for about 95k more.

Jerome eventually made the call with A-J, but found himself up against Pocket Cowboys.

Two blanks on the Turn and River and the pot goes to the plucky Norwegian.

Jan Boubli doubles up with a no-nonsense hit-a-flush-on-the-flop kind of hand (all in pre, though).  I just missed the chip count from that table, however, as I was sidetracked by relating a conversation I just had with a very excitable Mike Tse, whose 9% in the form of Jerome Bradpiece has made a remarkable comeback from around 50k...

Apart from that last hand.  I now re-award the remarkable comeback status to Jan Sjavik.  Ahem.

It all went in on the flop, but it was Jorrit van Hoof who made the initial pre-flop raise, only to receive two callers in Fahl and Jerome who were sitting in the small and big blind respectively.

The Flop came 3h 4c Jc, Fahl bet out 60k, Bradpiece folded and Jorrit re-raised. Fahl moved all-in and Jorrit called.

Proving once and for all that Rolf Slotboom has been blessed by a higher power, he raises with Ks Kh (fair enough) and then calls the all-in re-raise of Thierry van der Berg.  Who has Ad Ahrt.

This means that Thierry is the 11th place finisher, and Rolf is as jammy as a dodger.
