Title: bpl ... A new weekly comp.
Post by: Colchester Kev on November 20, 2006, 05:39:26 PM
Starting on SUNDAY DECEMBER 3rd at 8.30pm and every SUNDAY at 8.30pm there after blonde are proud to announce the SUNDAY SIZZLER. a $50 freezeout with 30 minute blind levels.

everyone will have a chance to gain entry through $5 sats which are going to run nightly at the following times. (starting on Monday 27th November)

Mon     8.00pm
Tues    8.30pm
Wed    7.30pm
Thurs   9.00pm
Fri       10.00pm
Sat      10.00pm

Times that will hopefully suit everyone on one of the days.

Of course you could always buy in directly if you dont win a seat.

I aim to take advantage of the fact that some blondeites will be at the APAT event in Newcastle by winning the first SUNDAY SIZZLER ..... unless you think you can stop me ;)

Are the sats rebuys? If you win one seat can you play another sat and get the cash alternative?

The sats are FREEZEOUTS. And yes you can take a cash alternative if you win more than 1 seat.

I would be more tempted in by a rebuy sat or a freezeout and add on or, a mix of sats across the week? (i need better odds than 1 in 11 to qualify sadly)

I can't play in the first weeks but will give the second one a crack!

Good point, perhaps I could make one of the sats a rebuy .... leave it with me and I will see what i can do ... Thursday looks Fav. for a rebuy sat.

Would Wednesdays not be a better option.... Thursdays could go on a bit long if it gets a bit hot. How about a poll!

Stop disturbing me anyway, i am trying to revise!

I doubt the rebuys would get that many runners that it would take that long to complete ....

Now shhhhhhhhhh and get some work done !! bloody soap dodging students !!! ;)

Excellent - 30 minute levels, very nice.  What are the starting stacks - 2,000?

Can't make the Newcastle event, so this will have to make up for it.  Looks like a decent substitute.

Forgot to add ......  blonde will guarantee 1 seat in every sat. so if only 9 start in any given sat, a seat will still be up for grabs.

Still looking for some feedback on whether peeps would like one of the sats to be a rebuy ?

Typical, starts an interesting new comp when the better players are away at the APAt event.

Roll on the 10th of December !

Yeah, I think at least one rebuy satellite would be good

Sounds good, can't make the first one as in Paris for the weekend. Good luck to everyone entering.

Good to see something like this on a weekend rather than weekday.  Well done Kev.

As for the satellites, I personally don't like rebuy ones and wouldn't play that format.

But changing one or two from freezeout to rebuy doesn't seem unreasonable if the demand is there?

Excellent, even Tighty will have time to find a hand with that structure!

To clarify, Tighty's definition of 'played' includes a making a slight 'Holllywood' dwell followed by the usual fold.

The recent stick came about as a result of this post (http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=16432.msg340348#msg340348), which has resulted in a few good-natured wind-ups.  I don't think he minds really, as he'll be able to steal his way to victory in the next BPL event because no-one will ever call him!

30 minute blind levels sounds cool, at least it won't be a crapshoot that way.

no. I murdered 8000 chips in one level and one hand with blinds at 25-50 tonight.

Merely crap then.

I don't have enough 50p pieces available for the past 24 hours to describe it, or do it justice.

I'm an pro updater, if I ask for a poker story I'll get it. Somehow and by whatever means I'll prise it out of you, it's my job goddamit!  :)

Now tell me what happened to you tonight, and remember, I am numb to bad beats so I won't mind.

five overpairs spanked by underpairs or a rag Ace (thanks Sofa King, grrrrr) etc...cash, satellites, comps, money went all in with me well ahead.

and then the set against set did for me once and for all  :D

most of it, then took AK vs QQ, hit the Ace and lost

Not my night, one of those things

Folding is much easier, and seems to gurantee a top 70 finish in most fields!

Tuesday's sat.

It says 8pm in the news box in the top right corner, but it's 8.30pm start according to this thread - and more importantly on the poker room itself.
