Kev, obviuosly no one of Blonde note did well in the £200 or else there would be a chirp or two about it! lol

Looking foward to this one - disapointed not to be there though.

Snoops? I read somewhere that 6th was £350 and 1st was £13k? Surely thats not right is it? Can you post prize structure up at some point? Cheers

GL all Blondes (and others I know) playing in this

and although maureen got 4th there was very little difference between 2nd to 5th, she was only a set of blinds away from 2nd.

although the kq v kk hand was cruel action man is failing to mention the numerous allins he won with the worst hand. selective memory is what most poker players have, a member of the table very well known by blonde described him as a "busy little f*****". the blinds were so big at the end it was autopush from the sb almost every round and although unlucky in his exit hand he did have his rub a few times.

Well, I've arrived. Holiday Inn, not a bad hotel in truth.

It'll be Jen and I tonight (and the whole weekend for that matter) on the ol' updates.

Jen's train has been delayed, so she may be a tad late, but, aslong as my vodafone doesn't play silly buggers, updates will begin at 9pm when the comp is due to start.

Should be a big one!

played 200 last night.  Had 42k chips last 40 2.5 times averages and unsurprisingly blew up and lost in 30 mins from there.  cracked aa with kq in 3 way pot early for 37k but lost 2 flippaments. then lost aq v aq where i was four flushed and then donked of 21 k to Lawrence gosney.  Hope today goes better:) sadly tourney was run horribly was very disappointing for a 220 pounds tournament.  with all the best dealers from around country and tourney directors who announce blind changes and dont leave only 10 100 chips at 400/ 800 blinds 9was a ridiculously frustrating :( bad luck to all the people who im playing against ;) hehehehheh good luck all hope it is massive success

In the posh McDonalds just near the casino to make a quick post. Looking forward to the tourney, am hoping to see gregior and trippyhippy in the flesh as I see them a lot online. Best of luck to my good friend Dafydd, Dan Carter, poker.co.uk Matt, James Dempsey, JP and Mickey Wernick. Lets hope I draw a seat on the featured table if there is gonna be one as I have heard.

Woooooooooohoooooooooooooo  ;mexicanwave;

After fiddling around for half an hour like a monkey with a broken typewriter, I eventually worked out that a password was required (although I was earlier told I didn't need one, doh!).... and then, PRESTO! I'm ON! PHEW!!!

So, howdy do dah folks and folkettes and welcome to the inagural event in the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour.

I'm here at the Grosvenor Bolton and fully braced to send a flurry of updates your way.

A LOT of buzz about this one, even a few nerves perhaps from those downing a slice of last minute Dutch courage.

A few familiar names already spotted....

Dewi
JP Kelly
Joe Grech
Paul Parker
James 'MC' Atkin (oops, I've outed him!  ::))
Carlo Citrone
tikay
James 'Flushy' Dempsey
Matt Tyler
Burnley John
Mickey Wernick
Paul 'Fatmarra' Moss
Greek Jack
Andrew Bradshaw

More to come, I'll see if I can get hold a player list.

Before I nip back down (it's a bit of a treck I'm afraid), have a gander at some of these piccies from the bar.

There's a caption contest here somewhere...

Feel free to take a swipe.

Mr Kelly's not too keen on having his piccy snapped, but we shoved him in anyhow, which probably explains why he's sandwiched in the middle.

And you might have spotted him at the bar (of course!) in the first one, but here's a proper one of everyone's favourite Donald's nephew... Dewi  ;cheerleader;

Plenty of support for the Dewster today, so I'll be keeping a close eye on him.

Can't help but crack up when I see his expression in this photo.  :D

I've already passed on the good luck messages to Dewi and let him know that the forum's behind him.

He looks a bit edgy, which probably explains why he's at the bar. He came 11th in a £750er once, but this is a BIG one for him, so he has every right to be a little apprehensive. I'm sure he'll be fine though.

Amusingly, he was complaining about coming 9th because he had to make a 5 hour journey back for Day 2, only to return with nowt.

According to Dewi, it's a nightmare living in the middle of nowhere (ie, Wales). Apparantly, his closest is Dublin (if he cuts across the sea that is). There's can't be too many poker players who's local is in a different country!  rotflmfao

On Betfair you can back the field for 1.47 - 1

Then theres about 50 runners, who are obvioulsly supposedly above the field in terms of ability.

JP Kelly and Colclough are 65-1
Im gona have £2 on Matt Tyler at 150-1!!!

FLushy nowhere to be seen.

Mr Raab, who is looking rather dapper tonight, has assured me that he'll email over a complete player list as soon as he can.

In the meantime, I have also spotted...

Simon Nowab
Ariston
Iwan Jones
Dave Colclough
James Atkin and friends (they honestly don't look old enough)
Karl Mahrenholz

So - with less than 10 minutes to spare before the start I have arrived!  I am sure that Snoopy has been doing quite well without me, however after a few hours of running up and down the service stairs to the wifi area he may be pleased my train finally decided to sidle up to Bolton, 4 and a half hours post leaving Euston.

Never mind.

It's seething here - players are just taking their seats, where they are met with a hat and a TV release form, as in all major competitions.  I have managed to arrive here with no power for my laptop, and have thrown myself on the mercy of tikay and Mr. Jon Raab, both of whom have been wonderfully generous with their technology.

It's all quite glam here - there are a couple of ladies in cocktail dresses to dilute the poker players, and the GUKPT team look like their nerves are strung ever so slightly.  I wish them well in their first event... and all those blondes and others mentioned earlier.

Jen has arrived after a torrid 4hour+ train journey.

She's also just found out that she's forgotten her power cord.

Nightmare!!!

I'm sure Mr Raab will lend her his laptop though as he'll be mingling and whatnot a lot this weekend.

The initial announcements are being made, among them the idea that seeing as this is all televised and "going to make you stars" there's a kind of filmed 'Bad Beat Box' which you can go over to and presumably tell your tales of woe to a camera which doesn't get bored.

Oh, and shuffle up and deal.

No early casualties from what I could see, although I did spot Fatmarra on the rail. False alarm though, it was just a ciggy break.

"I always think should try and win both the first pot and the first fag."

Well, he won the latter as he seems to be the first player to hit the rail for a cigarette, even fending off Mr Wernick!!!

Ariston, of whom I have an extraordinary photo being massaged by one of the be-corseted ladies (which I cannot currently put up due to lack of connector to tikay's laptop - see what a mess one piece of electrical equipment makes), hasn't had a good first level.  As the blinds are raised to 50/100, he's down to the tune of 3k, having laid down Js Jc on an all-rag board to Iwan Jones, who showed him Kh Ks.  And some other things happened, none of them moving his chips in the upwards direction.

With the end of level 1 approaching, we have somehow only managed to lose 2 players, one of whom is James 'MC' Atkin.

James called a small pre-flop raise with Qh 5h, only to Flop a flush draw.

The original raiser bet out, Mateyboy called and James re-raised. Both opponents smooth called.

The Turn brought the Kh, the worst card, not only because it made the initial raiser his bigger flush, but also because it elevated James' hand to second nuts, which makes it so much harder to fold.

Anyhow, all the spondoolies flew in and James was drawing dead.

You may recognise the name, but not the face.

This is dino1980, more commonly know to his family and friends as Nick Wright.

If you recall, dino qualified online and couldn't wait to share the news with the blondeites.

"It was my third attempt, but I'm just happy to be playing," said the journalist.

I love this photo.

He may be smiling, but Trevor Reardon wasn't too happy AFTER I took this photo.

"He always does this, catches me when I'm being felt up by a woman."

Lol, he's not wrong, but it's mainly for the norkage behind him to be honest.

Mr Raab has done very well in accruing some top tottie to undertake the masseuse duties.

Nick Wright added, "She must have come up from London, you don't get women who look like that from Bolton."

Nik Persaud  has been taking looks at raised flops with little pairs and suited connectors, with no result other than a gradual downslide in chips.  He's not keen on "going down to 5k and getting the double back to 10k" so if he can it's going to be a more rockily played level two...

Chip counts from table Bandit - and an interesting pre-start fuss from Peter Evans, who apparently originally refused to sign his TV release form, but no paper no tournament so he capitulated.

Michael Clark      10,100
Karl Mahrenholz   11,100
Terry Nelson       11,000

Richard Herbert    7,200

TV celebrity Matt Dale raises from late postion and gets three callers, including both blinds Simon Zach and Ariston.
Flop:  7s 9s 5c  checkcheckcheckcheck
Turn:  Kh  Simon bets out 225, Matt calls
River:  6s  I was distracted by a double preflop re-raise on the next table so I don't know what happened here although I would guess that both players checked

Simon shows 8d 5d for the straight against Matt's Ac Tc.

He was down to just 3k when his raise with Bullet was met by 2 callers, one of whom held A-4, which went on to Flop a straight on a 2-3-5 board.

Nick Wright added, "She must have come up from London, you don't get women who look like that from Bolton."

at first glance it looks like Mr Reardon is wearing Mickey Mouse Ears, & the young lady is topless  :o

Ariston has bitten the early dust.  "I'm not usually in long enough to see Aces.  But I just ran Aces into A-4."  Yes, his Aces got some in preflop, and the rest on a 2-3-5 two clubs flop.  His opponent was all too happy to call with the flopped straight.

One player didn't make it because he accidentally put Diesel in his car.

Dammit.  My usual tip is never tell Flushie an embarassing story - change that to Flushie OR Raaby!!

Apologies to the still unnamed (I hope!) Diesel fan.

A few quotes for you whilst we enjoy the break (Although they seem to be rationing the buffet).

El BLondie -- "I'm on 10,800. A very uneventful first few levels. The highest of been is 11k and the lowest I've been is 8,800."

Mick McCloskey -- "I'm on just above 10 thousand, but I almost f***ed it right up. I somehow managed to get someone to fold Kings in the end on a Queen high board. "

Julian Thew -- "No yoyo-in today."

"It must be the new beard," I replied.

Ash Hussain -- "Doing well, up to 18k, mainly due to taking a big pot of this guy with a straight. I had a straight flush draw too, but I settled for the straight in the end."

Managed to grab a quick word with Des Jonas. He reported of two early exits on his table, both in the same hand!

Mateyboy eliminated them with Jacks vs. Q-9 and T-9 on a J-9-9 board.

Not a bad Flop for the victor, huh?

Flushy considers his 14k to be reasonable, seeing as he feels his table was a lucky draw, pretty rocky despite Stuart Rutter two to his right.  Both he and McCool were hanging around the computer zone in the break, and of the two of them Mick is doing better - 18k and climbing.

As a result of McCool and Flushy hanging around the computer zone during the break , Flushy is now hanging around on the floor as the comp recommences, a big bruise around his left eye.

I learnt from out in the WSOP that, whilst it's nice to get a massage from a pretty girl, if you really want to get the stress out get a massage from one that's built like a hod carrier.

With the blinds at 100/200, a couple of thousand have made their way into a threeway pot on Dave Colclough's table - he's one of the players in it, along with Ian Nelson, who bet out 700 when the board read:  Jh 8s Js 9s.  Dave called and the other player folded, making the pot around 4k.  On the Kh river, Ian checked, and after a brief think Dave checked behind - good that he did because Ian held 6s 7s.  Nik Persaud muttered something about how he wished people with flushes would check to him too.

Just before that scoop, Iwan Jones won a nice pot off WSOP bracelet winner, John Gale.

Board = Kh Qd 4d Js

Iwan checks, John bets 9,050 and Iwan makes it 3,100.

John calls and they both check the scary Qc River.

John has top two pair with Ks Jd, but Iwan takes the pot with a straight, Ts 9s.

John Gale, however, is still riding high with around 26-28k

Nick 'dino' Wright is OUT - he was on a reasonable 8,500ish, when there was a preflop raise to 900 after one limper.  He called on the button with 7s 7h.
Flop:  7d 6c 2c.  The raiser bet out 2k, Nick raised to 5k, expecting a fold or an all-in... instead, a smooth call.
Turn:  A Club.  The raiser pushed the last 4k in, and Nick, although covered, "didn't have the mental strength to climb back from 3,000" and called.  His opponent had the Jc 9c and with no pair on the river it was all over.  Not a shameful way to exit his first one of these, however...

The eerie looking Mark 'Hawko' Hawkins is currently on a very affluent 28,300.

Dubai wanted me to make sure I highlighted the hand (Aces vs Kings) rather than just the chip count, so people didn't think he'd actually outplayed anyone to acquire his stack.  :D

Crikey, talk about demonic. Red eyes or not though, this chaps nice enough. He's in pretty good form I believe too, taking down that £300 tournament in Blackpool that played host to Ali Mallu's swan song.

JP is no more - after a smallish loss with one of those 'out-think yourself on the river' situations, his final hand involved raising with Td Jd, and facing a re-raise to 1,300.  He considered that the range of hands of the other guy, considered it pretty small (AK and big pair-y type hands) and called.
Flop:  9s Qs Ac  Theo Dalton bets out 2k.  Call.
Turn:  9c.  Theo bets out 3k, JP decides that A-K alone can't call now if he pushes.  He pushes.  A-K calls, and takes him out.  A good start, an overly complicated read, a quick exit.

Greg Amoils OUT - Iwan Jones came over mulling about odds for a certain matchup - he held 7c 7s on a 5c 6h 8c board.  He check-raised preflop raiser Greg's 1,300 by 3,000 and then faced an all-in.  He called, and found Kh Kc against him.  It was his day to hit, and the straight knocked out Mr. Amoils and gave Iwan a nice early stack.

This is the reason why James 'MC' Atkin is still hanging around (well last time I checked).

His pal, who look equally as young, is Daffyd Elias.

Cue Little Britain gags...

In fact, he looks as though he's endured a few.

Cheryl Charnley is now on 10,700 after moving all-in on a flop of 7-4-Q against a harmless looking A-J. A Jack on the Turn threatened a miracle escape, but it never arrived.

Thomas Dunwoodie is OUT.

He smooth called a pre-flop raise with Kings, but found himself up against Aces.

Raggy Flop.

Mateyboy bet 600, Thomas made it 1,800, Mateyboy moved all-in and Thomas called the extra 3,000.

Martyn Cavanagh is OUT.

Interesting hand with John Gale, who is running very well today.

Martyn flat called with Aces in second position (another slow player!) and John raised 300.

Martyn made it 1,100 and John called.

Flop = 6-5-2

John checked blind, Martyn checked.

Turn = 8

John bet 1,700, Martyn made it 3,500, John dwelt before moving in for another 5k, Martyn called.

John takes the pot with trip eights.

Nick Slade that he just re-raised Andrew Bradshaw with Kings, only to pass when Bradshaw moved in for a massive overbet of 14k.

"I could only put him on Aces," added Nick.

Andrew revealed A-K.  ;whistle;

David Kingsley is your new chip leader with 56,150.

He just a three way pot with Kd Jh all-in on a Flop of 9d Td Qs

Mateyboy had 7d 5d, which missed, and Andrew Bradshaw had Jd Ts, which improved by the 8h Turn, but wasn't good enough to beat the nut straight once the Ts River sealed the deal.

As a result, Mateyboy is left with just 4,300, whilst Andrew Bradshaw is sent to the rail.

I have also spotted (Well, Ariston pointed out) a potential contender to the best looking dealer in the UK throne. Watch out Dina!

Norkage shots of the stunner later.

If that doesn't keep you watching, I don't know what will!

Yep, full house, although they only started with 197 because three people failed to turn up. 1 got stuck in traffic, another fanished, whilst the final fellow shove diesel into his car by mistake.

SO a couple of Karl Mahrenholz vs. Mickey Wernick hands now...

A 4+ limpathon including Mickey in the big blind saw a Kd 9s 2d flop.  Mickey checked, Karl bet 1,000 into the 1,200 pot.  Fold back round to Mickey who raised to 4k.  Karl just pushed in for his 11k remaining.  Eventually, Mickey passes, showing the Kc.

Karl shows the 2s.

Then Mickey re-raised Karl preflop (1.2k to 5k) only to decide to pass for the other half or so of his stack when Karl moved in, admitting (which is rare for Mickey, who's at it more than people think) that he was on a Jack-high move.

So a healthier stack (25k) for Karl at the end of Day One, and a bit of a short one for the Legend Wernick...

Play will restart at 3pm tomorrow, and after a bit of a debate with Jon Raab over whether they should have eased the length of tomorrow by fitting in another level tonight (I was pro another tonight, Jon was anti) he's ended by saying he's pretty sure that they'll get down to at least the final two tables on Day Two.  We shall see...

So a healthier stack (25k) for Karl at the end of Day One, and a bit of a short one for the Legend Wernick...

LOL, KeepStickinItIn with  2s 4h   rotflmfao

Finally, before I rendezvous with tikay and jen, Dan Carter exited just before the end running Q-Q into T-8 on a T-8-x Flop. It was a suited flop and Dan had been playing aggressively, so he thought his opponent could easily be trying to play back at him.

See you tomorrow, folks and folkettes.

The ol' fella (that's tikay by the way) demanded I took a snap of this dealer - she really is very pretty.

She didn't seem too keen and refused to pose.

I tried to get her whilst dealing, but my timing was slighty off.

Still, here she is.

told you at the start snoops that the best looking dealer was at bolton. Kimberly could easily be my next ex wife ;)

my night went well. JJ into KK first orbit did for just under 3k after I layed it down on a 5 high board then 56 on a flop of 478 where I lost to 89 (turn 8 river 7) and AKclubs on a TcJcx board where I managed to only lose another 1500 or so. Finally got it in with the bullets against Hawkos A4 and the flop was a lovely (for him) 235. Wasn't meant to be for me tonight and I won one pot (both blinds) in the whole tourney. Womble bettered me by not winning a single hand in the whole tourney and he went in level 4 which shows how nice it is to play in a good structured tourney.

Big thanks to John Raab for going with my suggestion on Bolton Hospice as the local charity for the massues's tips. Bolton Hospice was the place that looked after my father in his last few days and is very good cause so please any players who read this and have a massage tomorrow make sure you tip well.

I ended on 13,750, pretty "flat" all night, never above 15,500 or below 9,000.

The guy (Richard?) Ade on my table - most impressive! Action Man to my right, Richard Herbert to my left, no easy pots there. I am a little under the weather, so opted for returning tomorrow with a working stack, & I pretty much sat out most of the night.

Big Ups to Grosvenor & Blue Square, this Series is gonne be a stonker, and especially to Jen & snoops for wonderful Updates.
