Simple question - Pay 250 or so for premium xbox or 450 for the better PS3?

Any thoughts? Plan to buy one or other over next few weeks.

I much prefer the PS3, better graphics, faster, and a better range of options, Super Mario has never looked better.

I would personally say PS3 but thats because i have always been a PS man!

But i think i would have a harder choice really than i make out! Specially as you can get much cheaper HD player add on for the 360 now!

I'd say the xbox at the moment, more games available and a hell of a lot cheaper.

Damn you silo, Its really bothering me now coz i honestly dont know which one i would go for.
Think we talked bout this in a previous thread and i think i had to admit i would probably cross across to the dark side and get 360!!!!!!

Always been a PS man but they are really annoying me with the PS3. Between the delays, the fact your not getting the same functionality on the machine as US and Japan and the fact that it is considerably more expensive than the japanese and usa counterparts, i am finding it, morally at least, difficult to buy one.

Just wondered what people thought of the XBOX. I dont plan to take advantage of the HD facilities for the next couple of years and so i'm wondering if on that basis, the Xbox is the one for me?

For my tuppence, the PS3 is a better machine but lagging way behind the 360 when it comes to decent games available. Best bet is get a 360 now and dump for a PS3 next year.

PS If you do get a 360 make sure you splash out for the recharger packs cos the controller chews through batteries like nobodies business.

I'm a PS2 man too and the PS3 is amazing but there aren't the quantity of games out for it yet that the xbox has and it's far too expensive.  Xbox has been out for 18 months now and has gone through the usual bugs that the PS3 will no doubt have. 

It's not like the xbox is pants in comparison though, it's a kick ass machine and I'm so tempted to get one but I'll wait till I take the Mansion 100k down first ;) (long wait)  The games look amazing and there's a great online community already to join in with.  I see you can get a wireless internet adapter for it too :)

If you want an xbox I'd wait for the refreshed 360 MS are rumoured to be releasing soon, will probably have inbuilt HD-DVD, but at the very least it should have a DVD drive that doesn't sound like a hoover.

Personally they both look much of a muchness to me.

Any truth in the rumour that it's going to be marketed in Newcastle as the Why-Aye

Can't fault the 360. Quality purchase. I'll probably get the PS3 when the price comes down a bit and there's plenty of decent games...

I have a few friends that work for game development houses and thus far they all slate the running model of the PS3 they have been given to test games on, They all concur that the Xbox 360 is a superior machine, However the news is that there will be adds for the PS3 which have yet to be released for testing which blow away the compettition.

All that being said, it looks like another way to separate us from our hard earned money one chunk at a time.

I think i will get a new Home PC rather than get either of the Gaming consoles.

Fancy treating myself to an XBOX 360 as a moving in present, def want Gears of War, in a word, anyone brought a cheap one recently and from where?

In fact play.com are doing it with MGS4 for £310.

Play.com had the orginal Gears of War a while ago for £17.99 I noticed its been bumped up to £21.98 maybe something to do with the new one coming out in a couple of months time  :dontask:

since this thread started HD,DVDs have gone out of production. Blue-ray just wiped the floor with them.

i heard something about needing Linux installed to be able to play poker games such as pokerstars... if you're interested in going down that route, there should be some tutorials on the web.

Wait, just seen Xbox 360 + Halo 3 + 1 more game from a choice of 4/5 for £199.00, not GoW tho...
