Title: Many thanks to all
Post by: ASigh on April 29, 2007, 05:35:41 AM
I would just like to take a minute to thank everybody who turned up to BB4 tonight, it was a great success. There was a real party atmosphere during the whole event, I know i enjoyed running the event for you all (even if it was 15 hours hard work)

I would especially like to thank Tikay, kev and the rest of the Blonde team for having the faith in us at the G Casino to host this event for you and i look forward to hosting plenty more events for you all in the future.

 ;applause; ;applause; ;applause;

See you all soon

I had a fantastic time  - I'd only been to BB3 and thought that was good - but this was even better - my only gripe being I couldn't get onto a cash table. I'm sure the luton locals were disappointed not to be able to have an opportunity to take more money off me!

I love the atmosphere - than you to Bongo for entertaining me with his human juke box. We are planning a BB4 cd with all his favourite tunes sung by him ready to be downloaded from Blonde on to your ipod. Any takers?

Dewi - I knew you were funny and last time I met you I thought you were ok but this time you were hilarious - especially when you took most of my chips using a half wilson pre flop and getting the straight - very funny  ;nemesis; Even funnier was your mistake of playing witht he burn cards instead of your own at the showdown - only you.....

Very impressed with the standard of male totty - all those young poker players  - I know I'm old enough to be your mother but you are all lovely.

Winning the last longer bet between Tighty, Snat, Bern, Andy and me was particularly pleasing as Tighty had me at 80 - 1 - live and learn Tighty live and learn   ;bumwiggle;

Loved loved loved loved loved it all, thank you to all who organised it xxx

What a fantastic weekend:

Thanks to all the mods for making it happen. Knowing how much effort you all put into this and seeing the stress some of you went through last night I take my hat off to you  ;hattip; (If you need a hand in the planning of BB5, I would be more than happy to help)

Special thanks to Ironside for being perfect company all weekend and introducing nicky and I to virtually everyone in Luton........ Next time dinner's on me :)up

My list of thank yous is endless, so i'll stop now for fear of insulting anyone by exclusion.

Tank you Blonde ;applause; ;applause; ;applause;

LOL standard chippie. Great guy.

A few others to mention:

Sunday8pm + Coco (Tom) - Respect lads.
Mel+Fran - Forever getting bevvied up.
Poppet+Leon - Advising us of the hotspots in luton.
All the mods - Making it a smoothly run weekend.
Ironside - For owning me in a HU sng 1card vs 2cards. ''Ul never flop a pair iron, so i call...'', Il have my revenge.
Rajkan - Sorted guy, who knows the score.

And when we find out who removed the post by sunday8pm from the lobby of the days inn on the sat morn @ about 6am, they're for it.

I'd like to add my thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make BB4 happen, not just during what was a fabulous weekend, but in the weeks leading up to it. I can only imagine the amount of planning and organisation needed.

Thanks especially to Dewi, Kev, Ginger and Tightend, and to all the other mods who I am sure did their bit too.

It was great to meet old friends, make some new ones, and to put faces to some more forum names.

But most of all it was just wonderful to be a part of yet another fantastic blonde bash, when's the next one ?

Excellent bash in a nice venue.

Didn't get to mingle as much as i'd have liked but those I did chat to were all very friendly.

It was funny to see the wife who didn't know the rules of poker a month ago playing live poker sitting next to Skalie and opposite Red Dog.

She would like to say a big thank-you to The Nun , Gatso and RioRodent who all helped her and made her feel welcome.

Apologies to ITB, tried to find one of the ITB crew to tell him not to bother about the bet as we had to go first thing in the morning but couldn't see any of them in the casino after the heads up finished. :( Glad to hear they all found good homes!

Well played to Claw for one of the best heads up games to be played at any blonde bash and fitting that it should be the deciding game in the final - commiserations to Mango99 and the rest of team value  ;applause; Also to ScottM, MarkPenn and KeithyB - hope all will be able to make it to BB5 to defend our title  ;topman;

Well played to thetank in the main event - after being down to 2000 chips on 1000/2000 and in the small blind to somehow make it to the final table and take 3rd place - not sure about the slowrolling aces when you got the first triple up!! ;) Congrats to ChipRich for winning it all.

GO TEAM CHORLTON!! :D

Oh and i'd like to thank everyone who voted for me being the most insane person on blonde - i'd like to think there was plenty of competition for the number one spot ??? :D

The certificate is going to take pride of place on the mantlepiece and passed on to babymonkeyboy when he gets older ;)

As everyone else has said, what a fantastic event - brilliant venue, great atmosphere, and a fun time had by all.  Much kudos to Kev and Ginger for their faultless organisation of the heads up comp - was great to get the competition finished before the casino closed, which I imagine was no mean feat.

Would just like to add my thanks to GCasino and all the lovely staff...what a FANTASTIC weekend. Chatted with a few of the locals in a couple of sit n goes and they all seemed very friendly. Lovely casino and I wish I lived nearer Luton :-(

It was GREAT meeting up with all the old faces from BB3 and meeting lots of new ones especially KeithyB Scott Byronkincaid and Geo who have been long time opponents across the online tables.

Big thanks also to Kev, Ginger, Dewi and all the Mods in organizing another great event.

PS  I hope you dont mind if I have a little chirp but I was absolutely over the moon to make 16th place and CASH  ;yippee; ;sark; ;cupcake; I joined Blonde as a $1/3 stt player and have learnt and progressed in my game by reading posts on here and from taking advice from the many friends I have made through Blonde and to ACTUALLY cash in a LIVE Blonde game is like Christmas came early....im still buzzing.

Wow, Luton is so like South Miami Beach...the weather, the art deco, the surf. I felt totally at home and thank you to all the cool Blondes who made a newbie welcome.

Must say hello to fellow crime fighter Ironside - your format rights are safe with me. And LeKnave - the Alex Turner of poker?

Expected highs in Miami today: a breezy 72 degrees.

Tikay - Thanks for finding me a safe place to park the Ferrari.

Tank you Blonde ;applause; ;applause; ;applause;

Only downside to the whole weekend was just missing seeing the one and only Liberty X at Chicago's!! Gutted of course.  :'(

One over thing:

Being a Blondite at the Bashes gives me a feeling community, warmth and freindship, on a par with nothing else i have ever been involved in, and I'd like to thank the man who caused it all......TIKAY,
 ;thankyou; ;thankyou; ;tightend; ;tightend; ;applause; ;applause; ;tightend; ;tightend; ;thankyou;

Nice of you to sugggest as such, but it would be wrong to accept the compliment personally. blonde owes it's existence to many folks - the shareholders, the Mods, the Staff, our Sponsors, & the Members. On behalf of them all, thank you. It's lovely to read all these Posts from folks who enjoyed themselves.

If I may make so bold, these Bashes are very expensive for us to run, and we never charge anyone a penny, happily, & we hope it will always be the case.

But if you guys can try & play on our Cardroom as much as possible, it would really help us to keep things going - after all, it's the Cardroom money that finances the Bashes.

Thanks, & heres to bB5 - the Venue will do well to match Luton, where the Staff really entered into the blonde spirit.

Good point Tracey...thanks Tighty for all the hard work but where did you GO? I saw you when I reged for the comp then you disappeared!!!

It never actually occured to me that a Blonde Bash would be expensive to run.

I know im being a bit cheeky here in asking but im curious. Do you have to hire the cardroom out for the night? Im pretty sure that most if not all would be happy to pay the normal charges/rake if that could be avoided. The hot meal buffet was excellent at BB4 which was completely free of charge...did Blonde foot the bill for this? If so then I and im sure many others would have been more than happy to have dropped a couple of quid in a bucket at the end of the table.

Blonde Bashes are fun and a chance to meet other forum members with the bonus of playing against pro/very good players for a mere £30...it should not be costing Blonde anything!!!

Am I wrong?

Not a cheeky question at all Suzanne!

But yes, they do cost us money. I am not sure of the exact figures, I don't have them to hand, but I think the Buffet cost us about £700, the trophies (Silo Graham does us a cheap deal, thank you Graham!) a few hundred quid, & a few other bits & bobs that came to around £600 I think, probably a total of about £1,500 to £2,000. It's money well spent, too, if we all have a ball, & we don't begrudge a penny. But it does help if folks play blonde as much as they reasonably can, because thats where the money comes from.

Well Suz my back was giving me a lot of trouble. I only live a 15 minute drive away so off home I went for a hot bath at about 11pm intending to return. Sadly I then seized up and that was that!

cost wise, if you add in the buffet which blonde paid for, trophies etc and other costs then yes it adds up..comfortably into four figures. The card-room is though free of charge but then again the casino does have a very profitably weekend in bar takings!!

In Walsall everyone was given a meal menu at £3.90 a head but so many people ordered away from that menu at full price that we thought a better deal for players was to get free registration for the comp and we'd pay the buffet.

So yes, we can only run bb5 and bb6 if people play on the cardroom and help us cover our costs, as tikay says.

Wow...my first blonde bash, enjoyed it immensely and can't wait for another. Especially gutted at having to come away before the quiz.   :'(

Fantastic to meet so many friendly people in person that I only knew through Blonde such as Kev, Suzanne, Tighty, Dewi, Poppet, Charmaine, Sheriff, Noflops, Bongo, Harmony & Rainbow. Apologies for any I've missed.  :cheers:

Not forgetting my awesome teammates Claire, Scott, Matt and Mark with our inspiring team dress code.....Go Team Chorlton!!   We went alright!!    ;karabiner;

Also great fun to watch some live players in action and see how they played.  I particularly enjoyed a great HU game between the contrasting styles of ( I think ) Vinni and AndrewT.

Three Extra Special Thankyous :-

   Bainn - for taking the time and trouble to explain exactly what was happening and where I should go etc. Being a bash virgin who'd never even played live before meant I had no idea what was going on and his help was very much appreciated.

   Ironside - for looking after Helen, making her feel involved so that she wasn't alone whilst I abandoned her to play.

   L3on -  for his great company at the table and also reminding me my blind was due!

Things I Learned At BB4

That live play is a bit like learning a new language in that you have a basic idea of what's going on but don't really feel comfortable with it when you actually visit the country for the first time!

However I appear to be much luckier in live play than online.  ( Apologies here to SuffolkPunch, FourKingNutz and NoFlops after my HU games with them - guys you know what I'm saying! )

Also Dave Compton is much bigger in real life than I'd imagined from seeing him on the telly whereas Johnny Gould seems to be much smaller!  Work that one out!

I can recognise Bongo from his avatar!

and.........Flushy live is actually a really top bloke!!!

Funniest Moment

Lots of these but top for me had to be Matt having to retrieve his crystal monkey from Rainbow's cleavage. ( And yes folks he performed admirably to complete the rescue in just less than five minutes! ).  The lengths these HU opponents went to in attempting to put Team Chorlton out of their stride!   rotflmfao

Poor Matt was then later subjected, in the same match to having Poppet "you're my friend, don't beat my mum" in one ear and Claire "you've got to take it down Matt" in the other!  How he came through that match unscathed I'll never know.   ;surrender;

Finally.....

It would be totally out of order to end this post in any other way than to thank all those good and great people involved in setting up and running the whole thing. A phenomenal effort  and hugely appreciated...... thanks all.    ;tightend;

Also great fun to watch some live players in action and see how they played.  I particularly enjoyed a great HU game between the contrasting styles of ( I think ) Vinni and AndrewT.

That match was great fun. Vinni never stopped talking all the way through ('Could you not get a jacket that fit you? Never mind, son, you'll grow into it soon. It's a laugh this, int it?' etc).

Contrasting styles is certainly a good description. I don't think there was a single bet on any flop or turn - both always went check/check. Then it was simply a case of me deciding when to pick off his river bluffs. I managed to get more right than wrong (or at least win more when I was right than lose when I was wrong) but I've never played so passively in all my life.

Tremendous fun though.

No, she really enjoyed herself but was feeling very tired and so I walked her back to the hotel about nine.

She missed all the heads up glory but to be fair she'd had a work do on Thurs till 3am, followed by singing till 2am Fri, then 90 mins karate on Saturday morning!   ;surrender;
