Title: To call or not to call...Should I even be in this situation?
Post by: Tragic on May 16, 2007, 03:07:34 AM
Info on opponent, tightish but very aggressive after the flop on marginal hands/draws.

Game #4096307503: Hold'em NL ($5/$10) - 2007/05/15 - 16:28:56 (UK)
Table "Wadsworth" Seat 1 is the button.
Seat 1: KautoStar ($1750.90 in chips)
Seat 2: EAP sits out
Seat 3: crazy89 sits out
Seat 4: Joeylove ($1207 in chips)
Seat 5: !Clueless ($613.50 in chips)
Seat 6: tolvhed ($1094.75 in chips)
Joeylove: posts small blind $5
!Clueless: posts big blind $10
----- HOLE CARDS -----
dealt to !Clueless [ Js  Ts]
tolvhed: folds
KautoStar: raises to $40
Joeylove: folds
!Clueless: calls $30
----- FLOP ----- [ Ks  Th  8s]
!Clueless: checks
KautoStar: bets $40
!Clueless: raises to $120
KautoStar: raises to $1710.90 and is all-in

My one thought is the reraise is too small on the flop and I feel it was a mistake to not make it 150-60. Thoughts much appreciated.

You're check-raise should be a little bit more I agree if you're going to check-raise, 160-200 would be better.  I would personally prefer a bet-3 bet all in line with this hand though.    As played yeh its a call you can expect to have 14 outs a lot of the time.

Perhaps you are even leading, I got lucky this hand ;)

Easy call.

You're almost certain to be literally 50/50 to win this pot. (Pair + flush draw is evens Vs over pair.)

Without reading the result (believe me or not) I would of said he has the nut flush draw. On this basis I would just call his bet on the flop, then fire out 3/4pot on the turn to a non spade (not the Q obv) and non A

You put me on a nut flush draw from a single check-bet?

Indeed, only cos it was you ;)

Seriously, a re raise all in (overbet) , on the flop usually means a big draw.

You should be pretty happy when you see his hand. (It's a better position to be in than up against AA/AK.)

You're more than 60/40 favourite to take down the pot. Just unlucky.
