Title: Brighton GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance
Post by: NoflopsHomer on May 19, 2007, 03:48:43 AM
Welcome back to Brighton for the start of Day 2, where it's now traditional that the first couple of levels are carnage. Expect a fairly steady run of casualties early on here, so you might have to bear with us as we might not be able to catch every exit, but we'll try our best nonetheless.

Jen will post our full list of remaining players and they you can pick your three picks on the Interactive thread. (Or bokks, if you're Booder).

Play starts at 4pm, come and join us!

Carnage!  Brevity required.  Must save energy for repeated multiple stair climbs.

DOUBLED UP:

John Exley, who pushed for 17k after a preflop raise to 3,600 with Aspades Kd and outraced the calling 8d 8c...

Barny Boatman, at the expense of Steve Read, it all getting in on a flop of Js 7c 6d.
Barny showed:  7s 7d
Steve showed:  Ad Jd
Turn and river:  3s 6h...leaving the online-popular Read with just 4k (8 chips and a chair)

Terence Burke (vs. Alan Mc Bride, who's now OUT) - short stack vs. short stack to create one medium stack after Burke found Qd Qh after McBride moved in with Aspades 9s.

OUT:

Suad Serhan
Stuart Fox
Mo Muse

Barny Boatman, at the expense of Steve Read, it all getting in on a flop of Js 7c 6d.
Barny showed:  7s 7d
Steve showed:  Ad Jd
Turn and river:  3s 6h...leaving the online-popular Read with just 4k (8 chips and a chair)

Boatman, the hand previously had knocked out another stack with Sevens against Ace Queen. DC said he just didn't give his cards back for the 7-7 vs A-J next hand.
Speaking of the Blonde one, he just flat-called a 1.5k bet on a 7h Kd 3s board, before raising a 2k bet on the turn 3h to 5.3k. His opponent gave it a long dwell before passing.
Ed Arees and Trevor Reardon are both OUT.

Jeff Kimber has just suffered crippleage at the hands of D Jolowicsz  with Ace King against Queens.

Lucy Rokach has manage to do all her chips with A-4 against A-K.
_________________________________

A bit more detail on that surprise early Rokach exit... tablemate Iwan Jones said she "cracked up" after getting pushed off a couple of hands.  The real damage was that A-4 hand, with which she raised Damian Evans' 5,200 preflop raise all-in, for around 50k.  He went for it with his A-K and the chip distribution on that table has changed completely.

For example, this man - Albert Sapiano - starting the day second in chips, has very quickly surpassed the leader by a good 40k, after getting one of those usually-so-profitable AA vs. AK preflop situations.  Estimate of 180,000, at the moment.

William Delaney is a goner after his short stack Js Qc got a spin from the crushing Jc Jd of Jeff Rogers.  No miracle, and the first table has broken...

And there are empty spaces where Jeff Nathan, Alan Rutter and Tina Avery were sitting at the beginning of the level too.  There could have been one in Kourosh Nikkhahe's place too, if he'd made a different decision, facing a preflop re-raise from Steve Jelinek.  He considered until the clock was put on him, then passed, only to be shown Jelinek's Kh Ks.

Praz raises a 1.2k Romanello bet on a Aspades 3c 4s board to 3.2k. Roberto calls.

Turn:

8c.

Now Roberto grabs a fistful of purple 1k chips and puts them in. Praz says, "I'm all-in," and Roberto calls, showing 6c 5c for the big draw. Praz shows Ad 8d.

River:

3s

Praz doubles up though Roberto isn't completely crippled.

Flushy just called a 4.2k button raise from the big blind, then proceeded to call a 6.5k bet on the Qs Ad 5h board before the 2d and 5s turn and river was checked down, Flushy's 6c 5c being far ahead of Kd 4c.

Jim Kerrigan has gone, he raised to about 4k with A-Q, and saw a Q-J-x flop against one of the blinds, only to have the blind move in for 80k on the flop, Jim had only 22k behind at this point and called only to find the other player holding Q-J.

Stuart Rutter has doubled up to almost 50k just before the break. With the blinds at 800/1600, Stuart picked up Tens, and with 3k already in the pot, not wanting to mess around, pushed for just over 20k. Daniel Jolowicz called for almost half his stack, the rest passed and Stu stood up thinking he was in big trouble until Daniel showed Fives.

Flop:

Ahrt Th Aspades

Stuart sits back down.

No running fives.

Flushy just re-raised a 5.2k MP raise to 16k from the small blind with A-J, getting Jeff Rogers to pass A-Q in the big blind, the original raiser called, but Flushy bet out 28k on the Kh 5d 9s board to take it down.

any updates on matt dale very much appreciated.

Matt (pictured) just lost all but 18k of his stack to Richard Ashby thusly:

He found 9d 9c under the gun, and asked "What's 3X16k?" so he could bet it.  Fold round to Ashby, and, as Matt put it, "The cheeky **** asks, 'What's three times 48?' so when he raises I put him on a move and push all in.  He had Kings."

Praz is OUT. He raised utg with Kings, found the big blind re-raising him and so he pushed for 40k-odd more and somehow managed to get a caller with A-3. Ace on the river.

Flushy limps utg for 2k. EP makes it 10k. The big blind moves in for 64.7k. Flushy dwells for a good five minutes, saying, "I'm not sure I'm good enough to pass this." But eventually he passes, as does EP after a dwell. BB says he has Aces and assumed Flushy had limped something big utg, (Flushy had Queens). EP had Jacks.

Ian Herbert rides the rollercoaster, along with Ponte and Persaud -

He shoves preflop over the top of under the gun Jaime Ponte's push all-in.  It folds round to big blind, and with two players all in in front, Nik looks down: "I've seen a Six so I'm not going to look at the other one," he says, leaving Jaime's Ahrt Js to face the Jc Jd of Ian...
Ad out first card, and the Welshman is nearly felted.

He pushes the next hand with the monster that is Ks 3h, finding small blind Nik calling with Ahrt J.  The board comes:  8c 3d 2d Qh and a second 3s to double Herbert's microstack and bring Nik down to 30k.

Rumit is OUT. Aspades 8h into Ahrt Kh

Willie Tann has also gone, pushing Ad 5c into the Th 9h of Anthony Romanello on a 9s 4d 7s board, turn and river being 4s and 8h.

Flushy is down to around 60k now, which is about average.

Title: Re: Brighton GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance

Graham Cook is OUT -

He re-raised all in over the top of Katherine Hartree's preflop 6k raise (blinds are currently 1,500/3k ante 2k).  With under 10k for her to call, she did so only after a bit of a dwell, but found to her apparent surprise that her Ac Jh was well in front of his Ad 7s.  The flop brought 6s 9h 8d so a bit of a breath-holding moment, but no straight appeared and she's up to over 80k.

Also OUT is Sami Yusuf racing A-Q against Jacks with the losing result.

please could i have an update on stu rutter?

and please tell him that one day i will buy him a phone charger and wrap it round his neck.

thanks :)

Sure, he just re-raised a 10k button raise to 35k getting his opponent to fold, before showing Qh 5d. I believe he's on around 60k.

Damian Evans, who knocked out Praz, is OUT, he pushed with Aspades 9d from the button, and Richard Ashby gave him a spin from the big blind with Ks 5s

Board:

9c Jh 8s 2s 4s

Shaf has doubled through Roberto Romanello, putting him up to about 50k.

Shaf:

Ahrt Qs

Roberto:

Ks Kc

Board:

Qd 9d 6s Ac Td

Title: Re: Brighton GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance

Daniel Jolowicz is OUT - He pushed in all but one card-protecting 100 chip preflop on the button when it passed to him, and small blind Karim Louis gave him a spin.  Before they were on their backs, Daniel pointed out, as if slightly surprised himself, that he still had one chip remaining, "There's still action..."  The dealer, however, dealt the board out in one go:
9c 6h Jc Kh 9s  Karim showed Ahrt Ks, ahead all the way of Daniel's move-making 5c 7h (nothing wrong with a button push with that hand there, with a short stack, of course - better than A-2 etc. etc.).

As for the spare 100 - it was kind of decided that "All in," had been announced by one of them at some point, and Daniel didn't argue the point - he just handed his last chip over and left the card room.  Strange one though, considering he'd even remarked before the flop was dealt that he'd be able to bet again on the flop, comedy autobet or not...

Flushy limps. Greek Jack pushes behind him. Another player pushes behind him. Passed to Flushy who insta-calls.

Flushy:

Ahrt Ac

Greek Jack:

Other Player:

Board:

Flushy up around 150k we think.

37 left, 27 get paid.

Michael Greco also going well and appearing very relaxed during the break.

Blinds 2k/4k with a 300 ante.

Average stack is about 86k

Despite the best efforts of the TD to make 37 divisible by 9 (involving breaking a table, then re-forming it - "I'll be here all week," says Mike...) they've only just broken the fifth table after:

Andy Miles is eliminated, moving in on an Aspades 2s 4h board with 5s 8s but finding Ahrt Th giving him a spin.  The turn and river:  Ahrt 6d

and

Jeff Rogers is eliminated (in two stages):  Stage one was the most damaging, as his Kh 6h had two pair with all five board cards out: Qh 9c Kd 8s 6c, but so did chip monster Dave Smith with his Kc Qc.
Stage two (shown below) saw him pushing in preflop from the small blind next hand over the top of a button raise to 12k.  Big blind Dave Smith considered for a while, confirmed that this was an underraise (Jeff had just 17k left) and called, as did the button.
They checked down the whole lot:  9s 2c 7h 3s Tc - Jeff Rogers showed the genuine Ac Qh, but after a brief pause Dave revealed 4s 4h, enough to win that pot of nearly 60k and take out the pink shirted player.

Ladbrokes Poker Million winner Raj Modha doubles through Darren Ground.

Raj:

Jh Jc

Darren:

9d 8d

Board:

5s Js 4h 9c 5h

Karim Louis is OUT, his Ac Qd got no help on the 7c 8s 5d 6h 2h board against Jaine Vasquez-Ponte's Kc Ks.

Robert Romanello lost a chunk to Richard Ashby:

They both checked a Aspades Ts 6h flop, before Roberto check/called an 11.8k bet on the Tc turn and then a 16k bet on 9d the river only to have the DTD player show him Qs Th. Roberto mucked, what I'm guessing was most likely an Ace.

Ian Cox is OUT. Ace King against Threes. "I wanted the call, nevermind."

Stuart Rutter is OUT in 30th place. He re-raised Barney Boatman with Aces leaving himself with only 22k behind. Barney called and the flop came an unpleasant 9-8-7. "I was praying Barney would bet because then I'm most likely ahead..." Sadly Barney was holding Sevens (again!) to knock him out.

And 29th place finisher is Dave Pullen...short stacked, he moved in with Kd Jd, called sharpish by Dave Smith who had Kc Kh.  The hearts flushed and you know what time that makes it......

Roberto Romanello is shortish, he lost most of his stack to Darren Ground before doubling up against DC with Aspades 8s vs Ac 6d. He's survived people looking up his pushes so far. The clock has been stopped for the moment.

Flushy just won a big pot, he re-raised Neil Carr's 20k preflop bet to 46k, before betting 56k on a 7c 5c Th board, Neil passed after a while.

Elsewhere Alan Dean calls a 6k bet from Shaf on a Tc 7s 9s board, a 12k on the 3c turn and a 20k bet on the Jc river.

Shaf:

Th 8h

Alan:

Any updates on chip counts, and who the shorties are trying to avoid the bubble?

All but eight chip stacks here estimated - we're not allowed really into the central area until the bubble bursts, but seeing as it's already been 61 minutes now, and counting, I can take a peek...

It's OVER (the bubble)... after a failed attempt at saver-creation for 28th, the unfortunate bubble was Philip Alden, who made a stand with Kc kd (as one is generally prepared to do) called by Katherine Hartree's Ac Qs... One Queen on the flop and one on the turn later and the relief of the room was palpable...

Oh, and Darren Ground went out the same hand with A-K vs. J-J.  The rule is they split the 27th place money....

Anthony Romanello has doubled up with A-8 against K-T. An ace hitting the flop.

SO - these two neighbours just been all in within the last 20 minutes.  The one on the right, in the grey hoody, Manuel Palenca, pushed with Ac Jc, only to run smack into Aspades Ad and left in 26th place with a shrug...

The other doubled through after shoving with the same hand - Ac Jc and getting this reaction from Shaf in the big blind: "I got 6k in there already, that's what you gotta remember.  How much more?  Tell me, I call.  I know you don't have much, don't you worry about that."
Alan Dean showed:  Ks 7d

Flop:  Tc Aspades Ah  Shaf: "You got plenty now."

Barney Boatman doubled up with K-T against the Jacks of Marty Wilson, all-in on a K-6-7 board.

Steve Jelinek doubles up with Ac Kc against Koroush Nikkhahe's 3s 3h

Board:

Qs 6h Ks 4s Ahrt.

Flushy makes it 20k utg, Raj Modha makes it 34k. Flushy called.

Flop:

5s Ahrt Jc

Flushy checks, Raj, "All-in." Flushy, "Marvellous." And passes.

Shortly afterwards, Flushy, Nik Persaud and Dave Smith see a flop:

4h Ad Ks

Flushy checks, Nik checks, Dave bets 16k. Flushy calls. Now Nik makes it 35k, Dave passes and Flushy re-raises enough to make Nik committed if he calls. Nik has the clock called on him before passing Ac Jc. Good pass? What did Flushy have?

Anthony Romanello is OUT, crippled with Nines against Jacks, he then held Ace Queen against Shaf's Nines and missed.

Katherine Hartree is OUT -

Limping on the button for 6k (after Sapiano limped in early position), Flushy raised a further 20k from the small blind.  Quickly losing the first limper, Katherine thought about it for a while before pushing her remaining chips in with 7h 7c.  Instacall from Flushy with his Ks Kh...
Flop:  Kc Jd Qd
Turn:  2d
River:  6d

And at the exact same minute, Michael Greco was pushing in on one of the other tables with Ad Qc - he got a call from Mad Marty's Ahrt Kc, and with no improvement, it came to a countdown to see who had more chips.  Very close...(Marty's towers have dwindled since the start of the day) but Greco was covered so we've lost Michael Greco in 22nd place too.

DC vs. Ashby - river shocker:

With all three DTD players on the same end of the same table, there were always going to be hands between them, and one just now knocked El Blondie down to a short stack.  Big blind DC called Ashby's preflop raise, and bet out 20k on the 3h 2h Th flop.  Call.
Turn:  Kd  Dave checked, Richard checked
River:  8d  Dave checked, Richard bet 35k.  Dave went right into the tank, head in hands, thinking about it for a good long while, before making the call, for nearly half his stack.

Richard showed 8s 8h and Dave looked for a second like he was going to flip his hand, but mucked in the end.

Roberto Romanello has tripled up with Ace King against Barney and Marty, hitting an Ace on the flop. He's up to 80k ish. Anthony is a bit gutted with his call with Nines against the Jacks. "Only mistake I made," he said.

Taner Hasan is OUT in 20th spot (£2,100).  Short stack pushing preflop, he found newly re-chipped Roberto Romanello - definite favourite for Climber of the Day - calling, along with the other blind.  They checked it down - Roberto's Kc 4c had flopped two pair, and Ks 9s for the all in Hasan was the last hand he played.  Handshakes all round, and Roberto clearly barely believes what a comeback he's on...

Then his Qd 9d loses to Ahrt Th of Barney Boatman to send him to the rail on an Ac 6s 8s 5s 4c board.

Sick exit for Richard Ashby, who can say nothing more than this one-word condemnation of the occasional cruelty of poker... Richard Ashby raised to 30k preflop (blinds are now a chunky 5k/10k), Mad Marty re-raised 100k from the blind, and Richard's chips were over the line as fast as he could push them without their falling over...

Marty wasn't thrilled with this, but he said, "I can't fold..." and the chips went in.  He showed Aspades 8s.
Richard Ashby showed Kc Kh and promptly walked away from the table eating noodles as the board cards were dealt.

Marty, on the other hand, stayed glued to his seat.
Flop: Jh -"Ace!" shouts Marty
9h  "Ace!" shouts Marty
3d  "Ace!" shouts Marty
Turn:  5s   "Ace!" shouts Marty.....

River:  Ac

"Good luck all," says Richard.

Nik Persaud is OUT in 16th place, made his move with 9-8, but ran into Shaf's A-Q.

Raj Modha doubles through Marty Wilson with Aspades Kc against Jc Ts, all-in on the flop I'm guessing.

Board:

Ks Qs Td 6s 5c

Quickly following in the last 20 minutes of play tonight is Koroush Nikkhahe, who finishes in 15th place (for £2,400, slight jump from £2,100)... can't say any more than preflop Qc Qs vs. Ahrt Kh - Albert Sapiano's overcards both hit and he was just covered.  Consolidation of two medium stacks into one very large one now for the Day One chip leader.

400k at least

Chips flying in on the turn of a 9s 4h 8s Kd board with Mad Marty holding the Ahrt Ks but he was miles behind and drawing dead to Neil Carr's 4d 4c. Took about 5 minutes just to count out the chips.

Elsewhere, Flushy raises to 35k, John Exley pushes for 64.7k more, Flushy dwells for ages before passing. John offers to show, and flips the Qd Qc.
