$1000 side bet? you can't taunt each other properly without spilling to the rest of us. Is there also a forfeit of somekind involved? Bets are always more fun with foreits ;)

===========================================================================

And we're underway!!

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p9P8Z3P6kvuV9HuIEWvWMeA&gid=1 (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p9P8Z3P6kvuV9HuIEWvWMeA&gid=1)

The first result is in and it's all a bit of a damp squib. Only Johnny Chan and Cyndy Violette cashed, so some people have a point. The Baron has them both and so surges into the lead with two.

Can it get any more exciting than this????

As ever, if you notice that I've missed anyone out, then do let me know.

And no, the Jimmy Chan who nearly made the final table is not JC Tran.

Roland has cashed in event 3 (although the tournament is still ongoing so not part of the 'official' results yet).

As you can see I spent my lunch hour productively today!

I was waiting for someone to post that.

Events are only entered once they've been completed, otherwise things could get messy.

At such junctures Snoopy normally posts this picture:

After the NL Holdem donkaments were mateyboy heaven, a proper tournament of Omaha High/Low and 7 Card Stud has finally given us some names.

David Benyamine, Annie Duke, Chris Ferguson and Josh Ariah all made the final table for 3 points and Cyndy Violette got her second cash of the WSOP so far for 1 point.

Sheriff Fatman, The Baron, DrDevious, Temp0r and Ripple 11 all have 4 points.

Seven people have 3 points.

Thirteen are still on zero (including The Camel)

Seeing as there are no names on the final table of Event 8, I've updated for this now.

Looking again at the results for Event 8, I notice that Shaniac (Shane Schleger) made the final table (knew I should have made a note of his real name). This was good for Jen and RichD.

In Event 9, Roland De Wolfe was the only named cash.

Leaderboard.

PyrE, Mpower - 7
Pffa, RichD, Flushy, Djinn, Jamier-Host - 6

Four people are still on zero, but they all have Phil Hellmuth, who cashed in Event 10, and so will get off the mark when that tournament finishes.

decided to drop this in to save clicking back in the thread - JC Tran looking good as a chip leader in one event. ZeeJustin a good pick for those that did. Looking forward to seeing all these players in person - bring on July...

Updated to Event 12

Really hotting up now, with a considerable number of big names making the money in Events 13 & 14, who will come into the results over the next couple of days.

Pffa - 14
The Baron - 12
Djinn, Janna - 10
RioRodent, Kinboshi, Bone 1986, Temp0r - 9

Title: Re: Official WSOP Fantasy picks thread:
Post by: AndrewT on June 11, 2007, 09:58:21 AM
Events 13 & 14 added.

First bracelet for a featured player as Allen Cunningham wins the $5K PL Holdem event. Humberto Brenes, Barry Greenstein and Greg Raymer also final table, with Chris Ferguson, Mimi Tran and Scott Fischman cashing.

Pffa, Temp0r - 15
Crosscourtbh, Kinboshi, Mpower - 14
Noflopshomer - 13

Phil Hellmuth has made the final table in Event 15, so there's at least 3 points coming for him for both Pffa and Temp0r, so they're going to take some catching.

loads of time to be caught yet. Roland, goodwin isa and hachem all to make a rush at it with final tables to come for all of them.

<cough>

Sounds like you're coming down with something Kinboshi. Have some Lemsip.

Three points for Phil Ivey, and one each for Praz, David Benyamine and Brandon Shaeffer.

Whilst, technically, Praz made the final table (as there was a table of ten), for the purposes of this competition the 'final table' is counted as the last nine in holdem events (as the tenth player is eliminated the day before the others and gets the same money as 11th and 12th).

Andrew/Keith:

It will depend on how far Andrew/Keith's players go in the tournament. :)

Seriously, I certainly hadn't thought about it. They played down to the final 64 yesterday, and that was the money, so that will count as a cash. I'm minded to treat the last 8 as a 'final table', as it's numerically closest to the nine that normally make it.

8 would be my usggestion its the same as for a stud game (ok more than a 6 handed game)

2 could also be a suggestion

Well, I'm sorry to report that 'Mr Colclough' didn't score any points in today's yesterday's $1500 NLHE (Event 38)... how do I know this?? Because he was eliminated about 5 hands after I moved to his table, his AJ didn't improve against a small pocket pair - I forget now if it was 4's or 5's.

Oh, by the way is too late to swap myself for Berry Johnston, in Team Rodent???  ;D ;karabiner;

I think the lesson we've learned is to pick players who actually seem to care about winning bracelets (Patrik Antonius I'm looking at you).

Final tables for Dutch Boyd and Roland De Wolfe. Cashes for twelve other players (with two for Michael Mizrachi).

Kinboshi - 46
Mpower, Temp0r - 43
Delboy - 40
Dino1980, Zzzzzrope, Neeko, Flushy - 39

Only six more events left. With the big names in it, the current PL Omaha tournament could shake things up if a few selected players make the final table. The next three tournaments are all $1K or $1.5K buy-ins, which are normally mateyboytastic, so points could be scarce. We finish with the $5K 2-7 Lowball (big names should do well) and the main event (anyone's guess) so can Kinboshi be caught?

The next three tournaments are all $1K or $1.5K buy-ins, which are normally mateyboytastic, so points could be scarce. We finish with the $5K 2-7 Lowball (big names should do well) and the main event (anyone's guess) so can Kinboshi be caught?

I can guarantee it.  It'll be a runner, runner.

Very close.  I have Juanda and Negreanu, whilst you have Ferguson and Madsen.  Otherwise the same (great minds think alike or fools seldom differ?).

Come on Kid Poker!! ;D

Just two events left now. Kinboshi still leads Temp0r by three.

There's still the rivercard to come - the fat lady's warming up, but she's not letting rip yet, not going to count my chickens before they've hatched, and any other clichéd saying that's relevant.

Andy Black cashed in the penultimate event.  I can't imagine m(any) picks getting anywhere near the final table in the main event, but I'm sure one or two will get points.

Think you might be right, but can only see these listed on the WSOP site:

 1.     Erik Seidel      $538,835
 2.    Chad Brown    $324,777
 3.    Shahram (Shawn) Sheikhan    $206,676
 4.    Lamar Wilkinson    $162,389
 5.    Andrew Black    $118,101
 6.    Kassam (Freddy) Deeb    $73,813
 7.    Todd Brunson    $51,669

Don't know why it doesn't show past the top 7 :dontask:

I have found Barry Greenstien made the Final Table as reported on Pokerpages  but did not make money
only 7 places were paid. So does Barry get 3 points for the Final Table?

All bracelet events count. Second chance and non bracelet events don't count.

5 points for a bracelet, 3 points for a final table, 1 point for making the money

Triple Draw had a seven handed final table. Because of the number of runners, only the final table was paid. Therefore Andy Black got three points, and Barry Greenstein got nothing.

For the payout, I would suggest paying top five in a 50/30/20 percentage split. Which I think makes it 440/264/176 in dollars. Which means that probably any of these lot can still win some money.

Kinboshi       48
Temp0r       45
Mpower       44
Delboy         43
The Baron    42
Dino1980     42
Milkybarkid    41
Zzzzzzzrope   41

Chad Brown Wins a 600,000 Pot
Andrew Black raises under the gun to 54,000, Lama Wilkinson calls, and Chad Brown calls from the small blind. Brown draws one card, Black stands pat, and Wilkinson draws one card. After the draw, Brown bets 200,000, Black calls, and Wilkinson folds. Brown shows 7-6-5-4-2, and Black mucks. Chad Brown wins the pot worth over 600,000 in chips.

From the live update at Pokernews.

Quote
Nearly Hand-for-Hand

We're set up in a position where we can get most of the action now. However, we won't start counting final table hands until they reach the official final table of seven players. (Which is also the money bubble.)

This is what I used. I'm not giving a player three points for winning nothing.

Title: Re: Official WSOP Fantasy picks thread:

I would seem reasonable to me that a player has to first win one point before he may win three.  :dontask:

Way back in the WSOP there was the incident of the ten-handed Phil Hellmuth final table, when there was a 'final table' and a final table. Same thing applies here.

As in any competition, in cases where unusual circumstances mean the rules are unclear, the judge (which is de facto me) reserves to right to make a ruling he judges to be best in the spirit of the competition. Which is what I've done here.

I haven't had a look at your team Mpower, but it wouldn't happen to have Barry G in it, would it?

I think I made a post outlinng the payouts.. I think it's best to stick to those.

Tikay paid for an entry but never submitted a team and one scoundrel never paid...

Cool, if there's already been a post about that then that's what we'll go with.

I think that no one could remember the details.

By my reckoning, seven selected players made the money in the main event. Mimi Tran, Humberto Brenes, Cliff Josephy, Darrell Dicken, Berry Johnston, Carlos Mortenson and Sorel Mizzi. I have added their points to the spreadsheet already, and will update it if any of them make the final table.

Kinboshi has none of these, so he will finish on 48 points.

Mpower has Humberto and Carlos and, with their cashing points added, he's two points behind Kinboshi. So if either of them makes the final table, we'll have a tie. If they both do, or if one wins, then Mpower will win.

Delboy can also get into a tie, but only if Mimi Tran wins.

I'm sure JC tran cashed. Can I have one more point please?    ;pokergods;

Edit: just checked he finished 493rd for about £25k

$20 each, 40-odd runners.  Not sure how it's being paid out - but it'll make up for a recent bad run and will be very welcome ;D

20 x 40= 800

1st  - 50%
2nd - 30%
3rd  - 20%

Not bad if the top 3 pays but might be top 5 if 40 runners, still nice anyhow, WD luckbox
