Good Effort by N Nouri, but he's history now.......

The Scandinavian gentleman is called Andreas, he is a dark-haired, good looking young man, about 12 years old, & he comes from Sweden. I think Sweden is either in Norway, or near it, or Norway owns it, but I could be wrong........

Notts boy's still in? Yeah, LOADS of 'em, they are dominating the comp......

C. Michael, who is Kim Costa's sister (or Uncle), Kim is Pete Costa's handsome brother. Mr Michael has 50k-ish.

Greg Junior Hill is gradually getting into move mode, he's up to 30k & looking dangerous, he can be unplayable at this stage of the comp.

Greek Jack is sat quietly with 70k.

And Stuart Smith has about 25k.

Don't say we did not warn you - Greg Hill is on the march. He makes a move on poor Tina Jordan, who had KK, Greg was at it with AA, it stands up, & now these guys have a BIG problem, Greg is sitting pretty with 60k+, and he's ready to strut his stuff.

But a shame for Tina, who is down to about 10 or 15k......

Smokin Steve Vladar gets hit by a shocker. He has QQ, Jeff Rogers has A-9, it comes 9-9-x-x-A.

Hard to bear Steve, you did nothing wrong. Steve is still in, but he's badly wounded.

Also, if it's not too much trouble  :-* can you say good luck to Kevin O'Leary from ME ONLY  ;D

Another shocker....overnight chip leader K Kalatyadid is OUT.

And what an exit!

He is in SB with KQ, Micky Wernick in BB wakes up to find AK & puts a big R in, matey boy calls. K first card, you can work the rest out....!

And the in-form Micky suddenly has.....80k+.....!

Tell you what, they are nailed to the table, he won't give THEM away easily......

We will do Paul Jackson in a mo, and we have just given Micky Wernick.

But good news for Smokin Steve, he still has 41k & was not too badly wounded by the QQ v A-9 affair with Jeff Rogers. Jeff was short-stacked, so his A-9 musta looked HUGE. Well it did after the flop.......

Denis O'Mahoney has suddenly shot to the front of the field, or nearly so - he has an awesome 85k. He just put a really beautiful bluff on Ben Grundy, poor Ben did not know if he was having a ****, shave or haircut......

Ben will soon recover, but watch Denis now - he WILL Final, mark my words, & will nearly win this beauty......

Oh, & Mrs O'Mahoney - Denis hopes he will be very late home tonight....!

Jeff Rogers is OUT...!

He and the young gun Luke Smith BOTH had AK suited, but the younger man caught his flush, & Jeff is on his way home to Aldenham, good effort Jeff, unlucky.

Tough game this - Luke Smith has 91k, & Jeff is rueing his luck.

ActionJack is down to 12k, Blinds are going to be 2k-4k when they return, & Paul is facing the bubble.

Now, he is gonna be on the BB, so........,

As soon as the cards are dealt, but BEFORE the UTG guy acts, he is going to move all his chips in.....! That's a bet out of turn, but it WILL stand, & nobody is gonna take advantage of his low stack by stealing.....

Tips from the pros, eh?

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 17, 2005, 08:57:45 PM

that was CLASSIC.....

Paul goes "12k, all-in", out of turn.

Alan McLean's face is a picture, sorta "wtf?"..........

But THEN the weirdest thing happen. Paul Parker is next to act, and he's.....SPEECHLESS! Got that? Paul Parker speechless!!!

Eventually, he recovers his composure & seeks a ruling.

Ruling is (here's a beauty), it is ruled as a MOODY, NOT a bet out of turn. Penalty? Bet does NOT go......

And Paul Parker eventually takes the hand, but Paul Jackson is still in.

Right, let's clarify what happened in the ActionJack hand for BadBeat......

Paul Jackson's bet was NOT alllowed to stand, therefore Paul Parker WAS allowed to limp. He wanted to limp cos he did NOT have a hand. See? So Paul Parker gets to limp, so now Paul Jackson just checks. They both check the flop, PJ checks the 2-3-4-5 (3 diamonds) turn & PP BETS now. PJ passes....

Right, the NEXT post will be by ActionJack himself.........

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 17, 2005, 09:30:06 PM
the next hand , having folded to PP s bet i tripled up to 24K . Then on next BB had J8 flop is J56 ( 2 clubs) alan mclean , who had limped, bets after i check , i move allin and he calls with 78 clubs in now 50K pot . he hits flush i am out , serves me right .
for julian , this internet newbie , ne to the live game , was in fact playing live poker in casinos at the same time as you had to lie about your age to get in .

Why would you want to limp with no hand if the other bloke has "said" he's going all-in blind. However, if AJ bet is now not allowed to stand I guess he must think PP must have a big hand to limp in this spot.

Correct BadBeat. Paul P maybe had a small pair or weak A, but did not wanna commit 12k in case someone behind him moved in to nick AJ's blinds. And once PP WAS in, AJ can't now steal or bet, unless he has a biggie. In effect, the Moody Ruling solved the problem.

Right, back to the game.......

But Bad Girl does NOT, she stands firm with A-T but runs in to A-K.

Bad Girl is OUT 16th.

It was Kevin Conway who busted the William Hill beauty.

Xuyen gets 1,000, she deserves more, but a great effort.

William Hill are relying on Smokin Steve to do the business now......

Smokin Steve is OUT........

Great attempt Steve, unlucky mate.

Denis O'Mahoney follows his KK with AA, & he gets paid again, when Kevin Conway moves in on him with JJ.

Denis is our new Chip Leader, he has over 200k I'd say, & poor Kevin has taken a hit.......

Alan McLean has QQ, Luton Young Gun also has QQ, & Steve, the gentleman with the voice box, has AK.

The K hits, & Luton Young Gun is out, & Alan has  been wounded, so Steve has about 200k.

Jack Ten is Jack's demise......

Greek Jack calls a 55k bet by Paul Parker, who has 2-2. Greek Jack has J-T, & misses. He's badly wounded, & exits to Alan McLean very next hand.

SPLIT POT.

And Andreas returns to the table, a VERY happy man.....

Andreas, the lovely Norweigan lad, is OUT.......

Kevin O'Leary had been at it & had R'd with K-3 clubs, Andreas moved in for 20k more with A-Q clubs, & Kevin, to his horror, found himself obliged to call for the odds.

First card K, the rest ALL black, but spades, & Andreas is OUT.....

Paul Parker & Kevin Conway clash in the blinds.....

No action pre-flop....

Paul has 44, Kevin has 8-9.....

Flop is 6-8-2, ch ch, turn 4, PP checks, Kevin bets 30k, PP moves all-in for 71k with his set, Kevin calls with his top pair, but is drawing dead now.

Kevin is down to a dismal 6k, & Paul Parker has 150k.

Paul has resumed talking now......

It's 11pm, there are 11 players left, blinds will be 4k-8k for the next hour.

There are 1,210,000 chips in play, & it will be a 9 man Final.

Wow, PROPER POKER now....

Kevin O'Leary raises to 25k. Micky Wernick ReRaises to 100k, setting Kevin O'Leary all-in.

Kevin gives it a HUGE dwell, then passes.

Micks shows the bluff - 7-2 ......and says "that's for that earlier bluff you put on me with 9-2, but mine is better. It's been niggling me ever since, but we are square now. OK?"......

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 17, 2005, 11:33:10 PM

I blame Action Jack for that Micky Wernick bluff. Paul bought Micky a Double Brandy in the break, Micky told him the O'Leary bluff was troubling him, & they must have jointly decided to repay the debt...

Cunning buggers, these old boys, eh?

But now they begin to play, & the Wily Old Worm shows his class.

He and Carlos get it on, with a board that is all hearts. Micky tickle bets every street, & Carlos calls every street, but passes on the River when Micky bets another 45k

Micky turns over trip fours - but it's a pure bluff, as he is playing the ALL HEART board....!

PROPER POKER.....

But Alan McLean shows his class now, & he chooses Micky Wernick as his victim. Alan raises, Micky Reraises, Alan moves all-in, & Micky passes, showing, would you believe, QQ.......

Great pass, or did he fall for the old McLean one-two?

Luke Smith moves all-in for 54k, but they all pass round to Paul Parker.

Paul chats for a while, then chats some more, then wonders why everyone is looking at him. "It's you to act Paul" says the dealer. "Oh, sorry, i did not realise it was on me, I pass. Now, as I was saying......"

Playing live compared to online you get a lot fewer hands per hour anyway, but when Carlo sat down in a cash game I was in earlier in the week the rate became ridiculous. Each time the dealer collected the cards in he had to blow the dust off them that had gathered during his dwells. Jesus.

Kevin O'Leary and Stuart Smith - both class acts. I'm confident that these two will keep the bulk of the cash in Luton!!

Kevin O'Leary is OUT. He clashed with Carlos Michael. Kevin had TT, Carlos had A-7 suited. Two guys both said "Oh, I passed an A", but first card to hit the flop was an A.......

Kevin out 7th.

Just spoke to Stuart Smith.

He's absolutely gutted, understandably. Never happy unless you win I guess.

I'd just like to take the opportunity thought to say well done bud.

1st massive comp - I reckon he did f****ing brilliant to finish where he did. From the reports I got, played a great game too.

Paul Parker moves all-in for ABOUT 60K. Steve Bovis, in BB, calls.

Steve shows 8-8, Paul shows Q-J, first card is the J, & then all blanks. Paul Parker doubles up, 120k-ish now.....

Next man out gets 4,480.

Alan is chip leader, followed by Steve, then Micky, Carlos, Denis, & Paul.

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 18, 2005, 01:39:24 AM

Denis makes it 30k to go, Alan does his RR trick again, & makes it 110k to go! Denis, after a dwell, lets go. I think he had AJ, but Alan is just running over these guys now, bullying with his monster stack.

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 18, 2005, 01:41:25 AM

Then Paul Parker works the RR trick on Denis, so Denis lets go. Denis is now low-chip, & tells the table, "Next time, I don't pass".......

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 18, 2005, 01:43:15 AM

Micky & Steve are in the blinds, Alan McLean just limps. The blinds both check the flop, guess what happens next........

Alan scoops another little pot. It's relentless, he's got his knee on their windpipes......

But I fancy Micky is gonna wait till it's 3 handed, then start showing his little bag of tricks.

Right, they are on a 5 min break, followed by a blind level of 6k-12k. Chip counts, in seat order, are....

Steve Bovis, 161k

Denis O'Mahoney, 61k

Alan McLean, 546k

Carlos Michael, 103k

Paul Parker, 109k

Micky Wernick, 193k.

Thanks to Southampton dealer Ross for his help with these. Ross is the guy in Airline.........

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 18, 2005, 02:13:22 AM

Right, we are off again. At these blinds, closure will come soon for a few of these guys.....

And Alan is gonna keep the pressure on, nobody can hurt him right now.

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 18, 2005, 02:16:17 AM
Steve makes it 57k to go. Predictably Alan immediately sets him sall-in with a masive RR.

Steve has 5-5, Alan has A-J, Alan misses, & Steve doubles through.

I wonder if the momentum is gonna move against Alan now?

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 18, 2005, 02:17:22 AM

So Alan drops to about 350k, & Steve is up to some 320k........

Post by: tikay on April 18, 2005, 02:23:12 AM

Paul Parker & Carlos Michael are SB & BB, Carlos makes up the SB, Paul Parker moves all-in, Carlos passes...... Paul pays the rent for another round, but 6 handed, & 6k-12k, these boys need a caller & a double up if they wanna survive.......

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 18, 2005, 02:25:41 AM

Carlos makes his move for glory, but it ends in death.

He has 44, Micky Wernick has AK, & all the chips go in pre-flop.

Flop brings an A AND a K, & Micky fills up on the end.

Carlos out in 6th.

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 18, 2005, 02:26:40 AM

Denis has some 55k, Paul has about 80k, the other three have roughly 320k each.

Title: Re: Blue Square.com Luton Spring Festival - MAIN EVENT DAY TWO
Post by: tikay on April 18, 2005, 02:29:01 AM

So Denis & Paul tentatively suggest a 5 way split. Once Micky, Alan & Steve get up off the floor & stop laughing, a polite "no thank you" is issued, though those were not the actual words......

Paul Parker OUT in FIFTH.

I am not aware of a new "no deals policy" in Luton. Luton will only report the OFFICIAL prize structure, but there is nothing on earth that can prevent players doing deals.

Course, they will lose Ranking Points too, if they do business......

Sheesh, Denis goes for 4 in a row with 6-6, Micky takes him on with K-5, but the K hits the flop very first card, & Denis's incredible comeback is thwarted just when it was getting interesting. Pot was 144k!

Denis takes 4th, 9,800.

The three guys seem to be having a bit of a chat. The total amount of money left - about 80k - seems to have been mentioned.......

Can't imagine what they are discussing.......

It seems that - & this is only a guess....!! - they have chopped it in relation to their chip stacks, & are now playing for the trophy, & maybe the odd few grand.......

Just a guess, you understand......

The mood has lightened now, it's all laughs as these guys go through the motions, & start to think about the fat end of 80k carved up between 'em....

And why not, they have battled grimly for 2 days, but now it's time to let the pressure valve off & give it a big "phew, TFFT".......

And Micky Wernick exits in third, but theres no moaning or chuntering from Micky, he's happy as a happy thing.

The rumour in the card-room is that Micky Wernick & Steve Bovis took 25k each, & Alan takes 30k.

And suddenly, it's all over. Both players have bus tickets, but all the chips go in, & our official winner is.......

STEVE BOVIS.

Well done Steve & Alan!

It's very late, & the 'ol fella is knackered, so the "thank you's" will have to wait until tomorrrow.

Don't be silly Craig.

But watch poker 425 any night from Wednesday onwards, & you'll see Micky interviewed by Rhowena, & he sure was smiling then. Channel 425, 11 pm. Got that?

Hi All,

Just got home and wanted to thank everyone for the support tonight. Blonde have done a great job with the reporting and Luton gave us a great structure. I was having a great time trying to manouvere my small stack all night. Had I called with my AK I would have had 380K but I felt it was wrong and I stand by my decision. I wish the king never came though. See you all soon and good luck.
