Well well well, the action is fast and furious in the first 20 minutes...

Big Barry Neville is strangely sedate at the moment in terms of his verbal contributions but he is working his stack, reraising an early position raise allin and receiving a pass, following up with a button raise which again gets a pass...

Meanwhile Carl Dawson is out at the hands of Chris Moore.

An A high flop was sufficient for both players' chips to launch into the middle but Chris' dominating AQ had Carl's A8 in a headlock and got the submission it rightly deserved. Exit, Carl Dawson, good game. Chris is up to virtually 35k now, which is just a tad above average...

Mick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=286) Jones (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=286) raises to 7,200 in EP.

Scott (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=394) O'Reilly (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=394) moves all-in, Damion Merry calls for his short stack. Jones passes.

O'Reilly has the American Airlines. Merry has K-7

Board:

K-5-6-K-T.

Jones passed Jacks but perhaps he'll be rueing the fact he's made a huge oversized raise from EP (6xBB) and was only likely to get action from a better hand.

Rod Langton doubles through Carl Dawson with Jacks against Ace Queen on a 4-J-T-8-2 board.

David Tighe moves over the top of a Chris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=66) Gavriel (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=66) raise, slight dwellathon, but the latter passes.

Mickey Wernick raises to 2600 but a 30k reraise allin from Tony Chapman convinces him and the Big Blind who ums and ahs a bit to fold...

Barry Neville is seen putting in a big raise, rewarded with a pass in the BB. He flashes an ace and says "I ad a biggun with that wan!"

As I scoot past he collars me, thankfully not literally, to tell me how he's faring...

"Ahm seein' so many 'ands. Ah've 'ad 9s twice, AQ, AK pocket Ts, it's oonbeleivable!"

He's making the most of getting smacked by the deck, increasing his stack to roughly 40k...

Good luck Bazza!

Mickey Wernick just lost a huge chunk of his chips with Jacks to Anthony Horn's Kings.

The Worm's decision may have been affected when Horn got into a big raising war with Johnny Hewston , both getting all their chips in with errr.. 4-4 and erm... 4-4.
;kc;

This is where Chris Hooper keeps his chips.

Mark Lowe raised it up, Hooper made it 30(!)k, William Moore pushed behind with Aces, Lowe passed Sixes and Hooper had Kc Jc...

Hewston doesn't seem to have a problem. He just knocked out Mick Jones with Sixes against Kings. Six on the river. Very next hand he raises the recently doubled-up Tony Horn's big blind with Aces and Horn decided to push with Ac 6c. More chips to Hewston...

Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Plymouth GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive
Post by: JungleCat03 on September 08, 2007, 05:31:53 PM
ActionJack looks to have 30-32k at the moment, as he chats merrily away with Jon Raab...

Johnny Hewston is happily sitting behind a huge wall of chips that is the right side of 100k...

There's a rather sick hand involving Rayazz Muller.

Rod Langton raises to 12k UTG, with 6-8k back, Piers Whyman "shoves", for 12.4k, passed round to Rayazz in the BB who calls the extra 10k or so and Rod makes up the extra 400.

the flop comes 98J, checked by Rayazz and Rod moves his last 8k or so into the middle.  Rayazz makes the call..

Rod turns over AA, Piers KK and Rayazz the seemingly hopeless 33...

BUT poker wouldn't be poker without the odd shock and the 3 on the turn and blank river must've been a dagger blow to Rod and Piers' collective hearts, as Rayazz eliminated both and added a significant amount of chips to his stack.

Meanwhile Barry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) Neville (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) IS OUT!

Although I didn't see the hand, the word is he was allin for 28k preflop with K8 and ran into AA.

Mickey (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) Wernick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) is very short at the moment and is unlikely to last long without some swift double ups...but if anyone can....

Sadly for Alan, Ian was holding the bullets. No help on the Ks 6h 2c Kh 5s board.

Johnny Hewston is chip leader with about 160k and has said he isn't going to play a hand for the next few levels.

Praz just got a little help on the river from a third lady, after he had Queens against Andreas Kallis' Aces to add another 20k or so to his stack.

Julian Thew doubled up not long ago.

His AJ didn't look in good shape allin preflop vs his opponent's AQ.

The 5d Jd 3d flop gave Julian the J he needed but also gave his opponent a Q high flush draw. The Tc turn added a few more outs but the 4c blank on the river secured the pot for an apologetic Julian, boosting him up to 45k or so...

Johnny Hewston: "The one player I didn't want with chips has just doubled up!"

Thanks DaChamp for Raul's official nickname. I haven't got his latest stack but I know "The Bull's" stack was halved early on with Kh Jc vs QhQs on a J hi 3 heart flop where he missed his outs...

Johnny Hewston remains the current chip leader as we approach the first break.

Julian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) Thew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) doubled up not long ago.

His AJ didn't look in good shape allin preflop vs his opponent's AQ.

Johnny Hewston: "The one player I didn't want with chips has just doubled up!"

Julian hadn't actually seen the UTG raise there, and openly admitted to being very lucky.

Bev Pace had her Eights cracked by Q-J which made a straight,

But then doubled up shortly afterwards pushing with Q-T against A-6 and hitting trip queens.

Reyaaz Mulla knocked out Paul Jackson with K-J against A-Q. Jackson was 'not best pleased' with the call.

After an UTG raise to 5,700. Sunny Chattha makes it 17,000 from mid position.

UTG folds.

Last hand before the break, Praz raises to 4,500. Thewy makes it 14,500, Johnny Hewston in the big blind ask how much Thewy has left, then folds. Praz, believing Hewston folded an Ace, passes his Aspades face up. Julian claims Nines.

Blinds are now 1k/2k with a 200 ante.

Praz involved in a couple of big hands.

I join his table to see him  pass KK to a 15k bet on the river of a A xxx T flop. His opponent shows TT for a rivered set...

The blinds now 1k 2k, Praz raises to 6k preflop, Johnny Hewston calls in the BB.

The flop is Ac Jc Ts.

Check, Check.

Turn is the 3c.

Check Check.

River 6 and Johnny Hewston bets out 20k into the 14k or so pot...

Praz : "Will you show?"

Johnny : "I'll show if you pay 20k"

Praz is not happy but eventually passes, showing AQ...

Johnny shows him 66 for another rivered set!

I don't get this river bet from Hewston of 20k into a 14k pot, I can't see Praz calling without a flush, straight or bigger set here. Praz would've bet two pair earlier in the hand, I'm guessing he was worried about A-J, A-T and K-Q hands that Hewston could've limp-called a raise with. I'm guessing his turn check was because he assumed he was still either miles ahead or miles behind and only a better hand would call him.

Michael Bathe is also out...

Raul's stack has just taken a dent. In a multiway limped pot, Raul bet out 5k on a 5 7 8 flop and David Milby raised another 18k allin which Raul called.

Raul showed J8 and David AA. The 5 turn and J river was accompanied by David Banging the table at the outdraw, before it was pointed out Aces and fives beats Jacks and eights...

Raul not looking too pretty now stackwise...

Ian Cox has taken a huge pot off Chris Gavriel.

After pushing preflop, Gavriel goes deep into the

 and eventually calls with 99.

Ian flips AK and the KJ6TQ flop gives both players a straight but Ian the nuts and he takes down a massive 160k pot much to his delight...

And Sunny Chattha has taken out Tom Sambrook with 5c 4c against Aces after hitting a mouth-watering 6c 5h 3c flop. Big-stacked and next to Ian Cox.

More misery for Raul Paez, he had Aspades Ks against Alan Davies' Aces, crippled even more.

Mickey Wernick has knocked out Des Jonas with Queens vs Ace Jack

Raul "THE BULL" Paez is OUT...

...Getting it in with KT on a T 7 9 flop against Terry Page's 76.

Terry loudly urges the dealer to "gimme a 7 or an 8" and the dealer obliges as the turn is a 7, knocking an unlucky and upset Raul out of the competition.

"That'll do" says Terry as he rakes in the pot....

Chris Gavriel doubles up again for about the 4th time. He came over the top of a Burnley John raise, pushing with Kc Kh and getting called by Ad Tc. An incidental board, has moved him up to 45k.

Brenda Gibson, riases to 8k UTG which is called by John Hewston in MP.

Brenda checks on the 8d Tc Jh flop. John, after squirming and looking uncomfortable, asks Brenda if she is slowplaying....and checks behind.

The 6c turn prompts a quick check again from Brenda and John checks behind again...

The river comes the Kd and Brenda immediately bets out 10k.

John says "I played this as bad as I could" and when he calls with AJ it's hard to disagree!

Brenda shows AQ for the straight and rakes in the pot.

Both still have very formidable stacks though....

Hewston, we have a problem.

Hewston raises to 18k preflop, Chris Hooper calls in the cutoff.

Flop:

Aspades Ad 7d

Check check.

Turn:

5s

Hewston bets 16k, Hooper makes it 46k, Hewston calls very quickly.

River:

7s

Hewston instantly moves all-in.

Hooper dwells saying, "There's only one hand that can beat me..."

He finally, after an inexplicably long time, calls with Ac Kd. And just as this reporter is awaiting a boring chop chop. Hewston mucks! There's a count and he's out.

Hooper is now huge chip leader with nearly 300k.

Ian Cox has knocked out Alan Davies.

Ian raised to 11.5k preflop (2k/4k/300), Alan re-raised to 31.5k and Ian called.

Flop:

Alan moves in and Ian calls quickly.

Ian:

Turn:

River:

Cox overtakes Hooper as the chip leader.

Julian Thew has been crippled after he raised a Q-8-6 flop trying to take the pot away from Chaz Chattha, only to find Chattha sitting comfortably with a set of sixes. Chattha doubled through and Thewy is down to 20k.

The cards go on their back and Derek falls backwards in horror, almost knocking his drink flying into me. Fortunately my cat-lilke reactions saved me...I digress, back to the hand...

Derek shows AQ and Brenda AK, hence Derek's reaction.

The Jd 7h 2c 4h 4s flop doesn't help him and he is OUT. Plus I am still dry. Ship...

Chattha:

Board:

Sunny is crippled and has to push next hand for his last 19.3k. Ian Cox in the big blind calls without looking at his cards.

Ian flips:

Board:

Chattha is still alive.

12 left....

I speak to Julian who is pensive as he fiddles with his shortish stack.

"One set of blinds and I'll pretty much double up!" he tells me, with only a slight hint of exaggeration.

Next hand, as if to prove a point Julian pushes his stack over the line..."Not much to call" he tells Terry Page who is contemplating a call, but ultimately passes..., leaving Julian to sweep up the chips as per THIS pretty picture...

Then Thewy finds himself allin! Terry raises to 30k from the button and Julian pushes from the sb for 10 or so K more. Terry makes what is an automatic call and shows A4, dominated by Julian's pocket Jacks.

The flop doesn't bring an ace, two fours, any straight or flush combinations and Julian has doubled up and is getting himself back into contention here...

A picture will follow shortly....

....In the next hand or two, Terry Page limps from the small blind and Chris Hooper raises. Terry reraises allin which Chris calls.

Terry : Q Q
Chris : 6 6

a Kh Jc 2d 4s Td flop doesn't change anything and Terry doubles through to 140k...

Sunny Chattha is out in 11th...

Richard Frost raised to 18k and sunny pushed for a few K more.

Richard's AT was only momentarily threatened by a 2 4 T J T flop, but ultimately, once the dust settled, was good, consigning Sunny to the rail and bringing us to "the final table button."

Terry Page limps for 6k, Thewy calls in the small blind. Big blind checks.

Flop:

Kd Qh 4c

All three check.

Turn:

Check check, Terry bets 12k. Julian check/raises to 27k, the big blind passes. Terry moves all-in, Julian calls.

Terry shows:

Kh Qs for top two

Thewy shows:

5s 5h for the turned set.

River:

Repeated cries of "I checked him into a set..." in a strong scouse accent are heard.

Thewy now has a nice stack of chips that he has arranged into some jumbled towers.

The blinds have risen yet again to 4k 8k and will now be played through at this level until someone is eliminated.

Just before the level rise, as I watch Julian's table, a hand develops where Chris Hooper limps on the button on Brenda Gibson's blind and Chris Moore completes for the extra 3k.

The flop comes Ts 2h 7s.

Chris M bets out 7k.

Chris H is desperate to win the battle of the chris-es and raises to 27k.

Chris M, however, is keen to assert dominion over all things chris-like and reaches into his stack producing a 70k reraise.

After a bit of shuffling, Chris H unhappily passes and we remain 10 handed...

Scott O'Reilly doubled through Richard Frost a second time with Queens against Jacks.

Then Terry Page has his Q-T against Chaz Chattha's Eights.

Next Frost doubles through O'Reilly with Q-9 against J-6...

Finally...

Terry Page pushes from the button and Chaz Chattha once again calls.

Page flips Ac Td, Chaz has Kc Kd.
