I just called with the trips on the flop as I wasn't really wanting to race for all the cash, my thinking was that if a blank came on the turn I was gonna push, if he had JJxx then good luck to him. He potted the flop which I think at this level, especially OOP, indicated a strong hand or a very strong draw - such as here - a nut flush and straight draw. He had a wrap and nut flush draw = a ton of outs - is this just one of those (sick sick) hands? Title: Re: Take Me to the Cooler! Post by: boldie on September 23, 2007, 06:36:50 PM just one of those things. As soon as he fires in the second bet on the turn he can't fold for only 9$ more..so it's a good call from him. I understand your reasoning aswell saying you don't want to race on that flop but that is what happenes when you hit a set in Omaha (you're ussually racing against a flush draw or straight draw) and I probably would have raised on the flop. I see many people play their sets the way you do though (winning players) so it's definetly not a wrong thing to do..just a bit too cautious for my liking.
not playing it pre-flop is ofcourse also not bad advice this is not a hand I personally would pay a blind to see a flop with.. Title: Re: Take Me to the Cooler! Thanks boldie. Wasn't sure if I could have just called on the turn and pushed if another blank came but I thought that would have been a very passive play and it's also hard to put an opponent on such a big hand with so many outs. I usually don't get involved with small pairs unless the other 2 cards compliment my hand but I was on the button and it was cheap to see a flop and hit my 10 on a safe board. But what is a safe board in a PLO limped pot!!! If 10 7 2 rainbow came I probably wouldn't have got paid anyway. So should have mucked or potted it pre-flop. |
