Title: Pokerstars.com London EPT: Day 2 - Interactive
Post by: snoopy1239 on September 27, 2007, 03:45:40 AM
Greeting blondeites, I won't bore you for too long, just quickly say good luck to anyone who I can nip on the final day, I hope you win as much as possible. For those who are tighties, then I hope you get Aces busted and hit the bricks early doors.

Of course, Day 2 sees both Day 1ers being pooled together to create a final field 142 players, of which will be whittled down to 1 all mighty King of Kings. Currently seated in that throne is Frenchman come England resider, Nicolas Levi. A blondeite and known to myself as the 'Hatpimp' due to his er... preference for all hats pimp-like, Nicolas is a highly talented young player and a top bloke to boot. He plays high stakes cash games online but can't resist the odd live comp where he has experienced mixed results, his biggest win coming in last year's Dormund EPT where he took home €85,700 for a highly commendable 7th place finish. More recently, Nicolas cashed in the WSOPE for over 30k, so is clearly in decent form and certainly a worthy contendor for the title of London EPT champ.

As always, if you have any requests from the list below, then we'll do our best to track them down and add them to our updates - please don't hesitate to give us a shout. Similarly, do remember that this isn't your normal live update; if you want to offer some support for one or more of the players, whatever their nationality, then you're more than welcome to use this thread as your stomping ground.

Hey hey,

would be grand if you could keep me updated on both my boys Levi and Mattern ...! (Even though I have a feeling you won't need to remember to write about Levi this time, it'll just come naturally... !). I'm coming over to the Vic around 6pm but would love to stay informed throughout the day while at work ... ;)

Thanks in advance for the great job as usual.

G

P.s. They left you reporting all on your own this time Snoop? ;)

Hey?? Cough Cough lol.  Morning/Afternoon to you all.  I shall endevour to keep an eye out or two for your requests so don't worry.  I'm flying solo for a little bit because Parky Snoops is interviewing Gavin Griffin & Daniel Negreanu as we speak.

Just some closures from last night to report, Noah Boaken was taken out in the last hour by the Kings of Patrik Antonious.  Stuart Fox lost a big pot (but is still in at least with 13,600) very late on, He reraised a raise from his neighbour Carlo Citone upto 6k but Carlo went all in for 28K or so.  Stuart called with AK and was enamored by the AQ of Carlo, that was until a Q hit on the river!!

His room sharer Chris Sokrati is holding up the bottom half of the players list today with 6,400 but he can easily make a comeback  ;)

I snook by just now and took Parky Snoops in action with Gavin Griffin:

Cooee all, just returned from interviewing Daniel Negreanu. He speaks faster than the guy who used to do the Micro Machines advert, so plenty of material for a future article. As I was on my way back, the players were still mingling around the bar area sizing each other up, Foxy and Soxy sizing the bar, but I reckon they've probably started by now so I'm going to nip down to grab a few of those double ups/exits that usually incur at lightning pace when you pool two Day 1's together.

I caught 2 first hands of the day and 2 double ups for the shorties.  First one was Liz (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1088) Lieu (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1088) who facing a raise, moved all in for her 10,600 with  Qd Qh.  She was called by Samir Shaktoor's  Ac Qs.  No surprises and a great start for lovely Liz, btw whilst I was earwigging at her table, Liz was asked by Levi if she was paid in for this event and she said no, she had to buy in herself.  I like to know little things like that, the things you daren't ask but are so glad when someone else asks for you.

The second first hand double was Chris "Soxy" Sokrati.  Not wanting to appear like the black widow by his side, I did think he might be making moves with his paltry 6,400 early doors.  Dennis Bjerregaard raised to 2,200 and Chris pushed right after him.  He reluctantly called the remaining 4K and on their backs,  Ahrt 6c for Dennis and  Aspades Qh for Soxy.  There were no dodgy sixes on board and Chris doubles through.  Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=420) Nash (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=420) passed A10 I saw and mumbled that he would have been in trouble.

Amicable Frenchman Anthony Lellouche has just eliminated the complexly named Yevgeniy Timoshenko, the young Russian all-in with 9-9, but losing out to A-J on a Jack high board.

Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=419) Fox (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=419) also doubleup very early doors to about 37,000 he had 99 V AJ.

It is official that 142 players started and the average stack is 27,600.

There has been a colossal pot already for Chris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=504) Moneymaker (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=504), starting the day close to the top with 79,700, he clashed with Age (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=456) Spets (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=456) who started with 50,800.  I do not know exact details other than Moneymaker flopped trip 2's and Spets had AA.  All their chips ended up in the middle and Moneymaker even hit the "rub it in" last 2 on the river for quads.  Age (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=456) Spets (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=456) is now OUT and Moneymaker chip daddy already with over 120,000.

The Swede still short though.

Whilst Stuart Nash ambushed the crossword on his paper as if playing a £10 freezeout, Ian Woodey was getting jiggy on an 8h Js 4d Flop by betting 4.6k. However, Scandieboy was getting even jiggier, pushing over the top for an extra 8.1k. Realising that this would be a big hit if he lost, Ian understandably took his time to insure he made the correct decision before calling and showing Kc Jc. Scandieboy turned over 9s 9h, which failed to improve on the 8s Turn and 6c River.

On a sidenote, I was chatting to Ian prior to the hand and learned that the Lodononer has always been a winner at poker and was playing cards long before he won the Million pounds on TFI Friday. "I've always been big on poker," he said. "I used to work the market before poker, but I always though I could do it full time."

I'll need to confirm if it were an exit or a 'down-to-the-felt' jobby, but either way, Michael (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=279) Greco (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=279) will be wearing a long face, his push for 16k with Ac Qd after Ola Brandborn's initial 2k raise running into an Aspades Ks behind him. Ola dipped out of the way as Beppe failed to hit three of his outs on a 2h Jh 4h 8h 8d board

there is only one stuart, Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421) Rutter (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421), updates please! Don't bother with anyone else :-)

Stuart is in fine fooling as usual.  He woke up at 12.58pm today (I know cos he said ;)) but due to a slight late start he just managed to sit down before the cards were in the air.  There are no drama's to report as yet - although his cheeks are looking rather flush, I suspect these will die down once he has woken up a bit more.

James Dempsey aka Flushy is out I'm afraid to report.  He is currently railing with Colchester Kev who is now happy to have a rail buddy.  It was rather an nasty exit for flushy though and he remains true to his belief "Its rigged!"

Flushy in the big blind with  Ks  Qd

He calls a small raise and the flop brings

Js 9s 3s  they both check

 Th

Flsuhy led out for 4k and mateboy pushed all in for 23K, make the call Flushy did and was shown    Aspades Kh

So sadly the river came a fourth spade and Flushy is left feeling "Sik, Sik, Sik."

"No problem," says Foxy calmly. Foxy had already mucked when I joined the hand, but I did notice that Hardy had hit a set of Eights on a K-9-8-9-2 board and was happier than a woman in a shoe shop.

Foxy down to 26k, Hardy up to 28k.

After having his K-K botty inexplicably spanked by A-4 earlier on, Chris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=69) Moorman (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=69)s is fighting back with some hardcore hand to rear end action of his own. On this occasion, Ola Brandborn was the man with the raw behind, the Swede re-raising Moorman initial 2.4k bet from the cut-off to, well... he stuck in a chunk, so it was pretty much all-in.

With a severely short-stacked big blind pushing for 4,300, Moorman saw a chance for a near treble up so quickly made the call.

Moorman = 8s 8h
Brandborn = Ks Kd
Scandieboy = 6d 6c

The first two cards were far from useless, Chris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=69) Moorman (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=69) picking up potential flush and straight draws, but it was not needed once the third Eight hit the deck, followed by King avoiding Turn and a River cards.

Board = 9h 7h 8d Aspades Js

Doig, Doug, Doig, Doug? With the 'u' neighbouring the 'i' on the keyboard and Doug the more common name to us ignorant Englishers, you can possibly allow Pokerstars this slip up. But whatever the player listings say, there is now a black line firmly bisecting his name in two, the plucky Welsh qualifier joining Flushy at the bar and reluctantly explaining with a slight red blemish in his cheeks, "I thought he had bollox, I was wrong." Still hesitant to explain in detail, Doig added, "I had top pair and thought he was at it, but he wasn't, he hit trips."

Liz Leiu has just gone, dont know how.

Marc Goodwin just added another 10k to his stack upto 58k, as I arrived he called a preflop all in with 77.  The unfortunate bluffer was in horrendous shape with 72 and must be just cursing himself at his bad timing and wrong person probably.

Roberto Romanello  35K
Roberto's mouth - Full Fathom 5
Ken Wong 59K
Ian Woodley  39K
John Murphy  9.6K

Surindar Sunar 98,000 from a starting stack of around 38,000, the majority of his chips taken from a still very vocal and still in Daniel Phillips.

THE SWEDE FEED:

Fuat Can has taken a slight hit courtesy of GUKPT finalist Warren Wooldige, the red-shirted ginger bearded Poker Verdicter triumphing in a strenuous pre-flop raising war that saw his stack rise to 50k, and the Swede's drop to the same amount.

Meanwhile, Jon Lundberg, who has yet to really climb the ladder to anything sizable, is still struggling with 18k. It could be worse though, he was down to 7k at one point, but stumbled upon top pair with T-3 on a T-6-4 and pushed over the top of a 3k bet. It was an extra 8k for his opponent to call, so he was probably a little surprised to be paid off by Pocket Deuces.

During the break, I also managed to catch up with Magnus Cornmark, who, unlike the aforementioned Swedes, will be watching from the sidelines when they return. His tale of woe involved a pair of a pair of Aces (Nope, that's not a typo). The first time he raised it up with the bullets, but couldn only win the blinds. The next time he saw them, they were in the hands of someone else and it was the very next hand. Magnus had a strong holding himself with A-K, but when his opponent swiftly called his over the top push and showed the American Airlines, he knew he was in trouble. No help from the felt and he was a gonna.

I was unfortunate to see Barny Boatman just get the chop.  There was some raising preflop and Barny and matey see a flop

 6h Th 9h

Barny bet & was called, the turn came

Kc and all the money went in at this at stage.

Barny had  Ahrt Kd

Matey had  Ts Tc

The river was an irrelevant  6c

and a sad goodbye for Barny

Hey mom I'm gonna grass your boy up! He was on my table on day one and was wasted by the time he joined us, then proceeded to try and encourage the whole table to drink with him. Only me and Jonny Lodden took him up on it. He raised my blind once and I asked how drunk he was before I decided whether to call. He said "Not very, I mean I'm really drunk um I don't know." I folded in confusion. He was good fun, hope he does well, goooo Mike

When you're hot, you're hot, and with the run he's on, Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) is hotter than the sun. His latest encounter was too hot to handle and could have given Satan a tan with its immense hotness. But before you leave for another site asking yourself what the hell has snoopy been drinking (something hot, actually), check out this hand, El Blondie getting it all-in with Kh Kd on a Th 9s Js Flop but running into 9s 9d. However, it's not over till the big boned lady sings, and she was muzzled by the Monty Burns doppelganger when the Turn brought the Ks, followed by a none-miracle-finding Ac River.

Here is being especially hunched.

Dave Colclough's crazy hands have come to an end, he is OUT  After losing a few chips with tens against AK, and passed some chips to a reraise, his stack was only touching on 25,000.  Dave was in big blind and the small blind hiked it up to 6,600.  Dave decdided this was his time to push and he did but the small blind and his Jack's were going nowhere.  Dave said "Not the best I've played!"

Someone who has been in the thick of almost every pot I've witnessed today, whether it's a double through or a double down, is WSOP 2006 finalist and generic "Argh!!! He's a raising machine!" young Scandie Erik Friberg. After being very close to the felt a number of times, he is now over 80k (accurate chip count impossible due to the pool of chips in front of him) after re-raising a 10k bet all-in (53k more) on a 5c Qc Kd 9h board. Mateyboy folded and the storming Swede marches on.

Nicolas Levi is like a horse walking into a bar at the moment, his upside down smile the result of a faux pas with K-J versus Kajta Svendson's Aces. The hatpimp must have thought he'd spotted a tell of some sort, or perhaps just sensed weakness, but either way he received the wrong signal, Katja's Bullets holding up as Nicolas managed to create a 150k pot before the flop had even arrived.

The players have just gone on a 30 min break, so I took my chance to take some actual counts from the chip leaders whilst they were out of the way.  Firstly, the last hand before the break Eric Friberg from Stockholm saw the Swede take out 2 players.

Torbjorn Jonson raised UTG, Eric Friberg flat calls.  Onto Tony Phillips who goes all in for about 45K, Jonson goes all in too for less and Friberg also makes the call.  On their backs

Friberg  Kh Kc
Phillips   Qs Qh
Jonson   Kd  Qc

So Friberg is left to stack piles of chips - circa 148,000

Post by: Chili on September 27, 2007, 07:21:15 PM
At the same table as Friberg's are two of the chip leaders.

Pascal (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=691) Perrault (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=691)  185,200
Surinder (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=422) Sunar (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=422)  195,700

If these clash there could be a monster chip leader on this table and I don't think Friberg sits still for very long either.

There are 51 players left.

If I left that table thinking I was looking at the chip leader in Sunar, I was mistaken when I looked at Anthony Lellouche's stack.  He has pipped Surinder to the post with 200,300.

One of the top three chip daddies is this chap (or le chap), Frenchman Anthony Lellouche. A high stakes cash game player at his local stomping ground at the Aviation Club in Paris, Lellouche is currently on 196k after eliminating a rather bitter Stig Rasmussen of Denmark. Entering a pre-flop raising war with Ahrt Ks, Lellouche's initial raise was re-raised by Stig after a bizarrely long dwell that resulted in Nicolas Levi calling the clock. The action returned to Lellouche who then announced all-in.

"This is a tough one," said Stig, "but I call," pushing in what looked to be around 40 odd thousand in chips and showing, to the surprise of the table, Ac Ts.

A 6s 6d Js 5c 7c bord later and that was all she wrote for Stig, the Danish giant seemingly surprised by Lellouche's play with the Big Slick. "That was a very risky move," he concluded as he departed.

Surinder Sunar fists the air in frustration as he shown Ac Aspades by Fredrik Haugen, the Birmingham pro's Qh Qc in need of a threesome. However, a set of Queens could be further from the Poker Gods' minds, the board coming a rather clinical and unnecessarily gasp inducing 5s 5c Js Ahrt Ad.

Chip counts to follow...

Hi, can I have an update on Richard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=367) Ashby (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=367) please?  Can you wish him luck for me?

Thanks for the great updates.

Cheers

Miss Chufty

Yes, no problem.  He has really struggled today to make anything happen, but his patience is commendable.

Ironside, think there might be what you call "norkage" lurking in this picture.  Then again I guess that depends which way inclined you are.

Nicholas "hatpimp" Levi is OUT

Spaniard Daniel Mangas played some improvisional poker a few minutes ago, when finding himself with about 20,000 he pushed with  Th 2d but was looked up by  Qh Qs the board came

 Td 5c Tc   4d  9s

Manga's doubled through with some "whups" & "Ahhhhs" from the table onlookers.

Ian Cox is still there, most recently spotted pushing all-in for 46,900 on a board of 9d 6d 4h 9s. There was about 20k in the pot, so that puts him on around 65k.

There are 42 of 392 players remaining. We are playing down to 40.

The average stack is 91,200.

Poker is full of highs and lows, and as soon as Mangas takes a bite out of the high, he is forced to munch on the grimy surface of the low, his A-K versus Mateyboy's A-8 all-in being outdrawn on a 9-8-3-5-4.

The Spaniard now down to 55k.

This hand is a revenge because the first day Levi knocked out Simon Muñoz (Daniel's partner in unibet spanish team) paying Simon's preflop raise with a trash hand and flops double pair against Simon's flushdraw+overcards.

snoops, Chili - another GREAT Update, well done.

I fancy Anthony Lellouche to go deep in this, he's one of the few Frenchman I've ever liked, & he has a terrificly aggressive raising game, very similar to Richard Gryko.

That is it, they have reached 40 and I believe Liam Flood may have been the 41st exit.  Again, same as last night, last hand of the night a gigantic pot erups on table big stack.  It started with Liam Flood raising up to 7,200 with Surinder Sunar smooth calling on the button and Eric Friberg also calling in the big blind.  The flop came

 9s 4c 8s

Eric checked, Liam Flood went all in for about 60k, which was only called by Surinder and resulted in Eric Friberg going all in for his entire 170,000.  Surinder INSTA calls and the cards are all turned over.

Liam Flood   Aspades Ks
Surinder Sunar  9d 9h
Eric Friberg   4h 4s

The turn & river are complete blanks and an amazing pot for Surinder to scoop with better set.  Liam Flood was knocked out but Eric was left with a paltry 7,000.

Surinder has finished the night with a chip tastic 403,400..

Ian Crapper Cox has finished the day happy with 70,600 chips.

I caught up with young Ian post final whilst: "Not too many big hands, went down to 40k, back up to 60k, and now 70k. Haven't really come across any good players today, had Negreanu and Liz Lieu yesterday, they're rubbish. In fact, everyone's rubbish," he jokes.

Title: Re: Pokerstars.com London EPT: Day 2 - Interactive

I also grabbed a quick word with Richard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=367) Ashby (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=367) near the end. Like Ian, Chufty never really enjoyed the highs of a big stack, and on just 26k he'll be looking for a late surge tomorrow.

Talking of shortstacks, Marc (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) Goodwin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) must be the shortest of the shorties with just 9 chips, but luckily it's quality over quality with the majority of those chips being brown 5k ones giving him a total of 51k.

Swansea's Martyn Reeve has 82,100. After hovering around 50k for most of the day, he dropped down to 35k at one before doubling up and is now on 82,100.

Surrinder was funny whilst his chips were being counted at the end.  Naturally he was in high spirits after the hand and someone commented

"Well, he does have a voice after all!" I said that "you did lose some of your chip lead before this hand, well you got them back now!" so Surinder starts saying "no, no I loaned out my chip lead for 5 mins only thats all, I am the Chip leader!"  It was like he had won the EPT already all around him, every one shaking his hand and wanting to talk to him.  I for one would love it if he won this baby.

this may seem contraversial and slightly un-partizan to our counrtymen but id love to see moneymaker win this one. Think he's been given loads of unfair stick after his win in the wsop. He never asked for all the fame he recieved and because of him, as the major catylst to the poker boom, many people have taken up poker as a career and have improved their lifestyles and standard of living. Plus, think of all the fish's the boom created who are donating on a regular basis. GL moneymaker

Good post. I have played against money800 a few times on stars. He gets some really rubbish stick from the American railers. Once we had a long chat in a 55 sit and go because the other bigger tables were taking time to fill. I personaly like him and while he doesnt have the online credentials of a pearljammer, Andy Mc Leod or Bax I still rate him as a player and a bloke. I will rail Money and the Kiwi boy still left in ...
