Hi everyone! I'm afraid we have no player list today. I mean, we do, but it looks like someone accidentally hit the Randomize button or today is musical chairs day or something because no-one seems to be sitting where the player list says they should be. This is a shame because I've seen some huge pots already and I have absolutely no idea who was involved in them. Sigh. Welcome back, Mateyboy. We've missed you. So for the time being I shall just tell you that I have witnessed Mr Paul Parker, resplendent in pink paisley number, take down a pot with a bet of 700 on a Tc 9h 4d 6c 2s board. I have also had a slightly depressed-sounding Willie Tann dolefully enquiring as to when there's going to be a break, not 10 minutes into the first level. I feel for you, Willie. I really do. I have also witnessed the astounding spectacle that is Rick Trigg's barnet. Photos very, very definitely to follow.

As always seems to be the case, it doesn't take long to experience our first exit, and that unfortunate wooden spoon man is G Grime who exited with mumbles of Kings versus Queens. I'm no Miss Marple, but my guess would be that those darn Ladies had a threesome somewhere on the board to send Mr Grime packing. Still, he gets £100 for his troubles. Only in the World Series can you come 200 and something and still go home with a cash prize.

And we're another man down, this time the recipient of the door shutting behind him is Ben Dong (I was so hoping his first name was Ding). With Richard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=367) Ashby (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=367) betting the streets of a 4d Js Th 2h board, including the 4s River where he pushed all-in for around 3k, Dong made a reluctant call only to be shown a superior (I imagine, he mucked) pair of Queens. Doesn't seem massive, but it was good enough to send a disgruntled Dong hurling over to the rail.

R Bent is also out.

Going back to Rick Trigg for a second, he tells me that his table is completely insane - three exits already, and the first level not even over. Sad tales of set over two pair, sets against flush draws that hit, and he and his alice band have had to go outside for a smoke to calm themselves down after all the excitement.

Other news is that Chris Bruce is down to about 5k, though not sure how. He doesn't really look like he wants to talk about it.

I was passing by Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=334) Parker (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=334)'s table when his shirt caught my eye, and I happened to notice that he was involved in a hand at the time. The board read Jc Qc Tc 9d Kh and Mateyboy had bet 725. Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=334) Parker (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=334) thought about it and raised another 1500. "If you raise all in I'll pass," he said helpfully. Mateyboy was clearly considering it, but called instead.

Mr Parker - 2c Kc

Mr Boy - 7c 6c

"I would have passed if you'd raised," reiterated Mr Parker, but I'm not convinced that that's true...

Mr Barnet Rick Trigg is on around 13k. I saw him take some chips off a Matey with 9-J against Matey's K-T on an Ac Jc Kh 9d 4d board.

Meanwhile King Of The Shortstack Mickey Wernick is heading towards his comfort zone, having somehow lost about half his starting stack already.

According to my source, who, admittedly, is only Michael Butlin from Blue Square (he drinks way too many Cheeky Vimtos to make a reliable source), Kevin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=235) O'Leary (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=235) is the wrong side of his starting stack after his flopped straight with 2-3 on an A-5-4 board was out-gunned by A-4 which inevitably made a full house. Fortunately for the multi-colour-haired-younger-than-he-looks South Londonder (did you know he was ID-ed in Vegas when me and Jen got in?  :)), he had plenty of chips to soak up the beat.

------------

I don't know if he's fully Welsh, pseudo Welsh, or merely a visitor in those parts, but Harpit Grunham has been the last to depart, although a consolatory £100 thickening his lining.

Meanwhile, I did spot Danny Rudd, and a photo will indeed be on the way shortly. The Ruddster, or UpTheMariners as he more commonly known on the blonde forum, is currently on the 8.5 to 9k mark, so he's still there.

-------------

Sibling of Lalit, Chandra Khajuria is now out of today's pool after clashing with Luton GUKPT victor Dave Clark. All-in with Aspades 8s versus 5c 4c on a 4d Js 5s Flop, the 8c Turn and 4s River were of no use to the still chirpy Londoner as he made his way to the yet to be jam-packed rail.

Clark now on over 20k.

Gordon MacArthur -- 9375.

Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=308) Risdale (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=308) -- 7.7k

----------

Popular Welshman 'David' Dan Owston is up to a mammoth-at-this-stage 22k after his set of Jacks on a Jack high Flop survived against A-J. "But why survived?" I hear you cry. "He's miles ahead." Well, not when the board is all hearts with Mateyboy holding the Ace of hearts. Fortunately for Dan, no heart came and his opponent was forced to eat dust.

----------

Recent exits:

Jon Hewston
N Rutter
Alan Dean
Greek Jack

---------

Jon Hewston departed at the hands of Chris Bruce, the J-9-4 Flop seeing the chips fly in with Jon's 5-4 ahead against Chris's Q-T. But a Brucie Bonus on the Turn in the form of a straight-making 8 sealed Hewston fate.

By the way, Mr Paul Pink Paisley Parker is on around 20k.

-----------

That break sure was bubbling with updates, Chris Bruce being another player to retell his poker anecdotes. Apparently, he was running quite well at one point, but has dropped down to 8k after taking a butchering from 'Fred Elliot' doppelganger Jeff Burke.

Limping pre-flop with 5-6, Chris hit a magic 2-3-4 Flop, which he duly slowplayed by smooth calling a 200 bet. Come the 9d turn, he bet out 2,500, but was called by former debt collector Jeff. A Th on the River made a flush possible, which was enough to trigger an all-in from Jeff Burke for 5k. After mulling over his options, Chris folded his straight adding, "He moved all-in, what could I do" only to be shown Pocket Tens. "I was planning to push all-in whatever the River," claimed Jeff.

News from the Smoking Section ("Car Park") in the break now.

Bumped into Alan Armitage. He says he's not feeling that great, recovering from the twin setbacks of the flu and a trip to Russia to watch the football. He's nevertheless upped his stack to about 18k.

Also ran into Gordon MacArthur, who's moving in the upwards direction from his last chip count, currently sitting on an almost-exactly-even 9.9k. As his fans may remember, he came 17th last year, and is hoping to improve on that, although he's only paid £200 to get himself here today so he's pretty much a winner either way. Pretty much.

Paul Parker takes a decent-sized pot off of Michael Greco on a Q-J-x flop. Greco folds a Queen face up, and Parker turns over a Queen too, this one with an Ace.

Mickey Wernick is now very firmly in his Happy Place. Having somehow dropped down to 3k or so, he moved in preflop and found a caller in Yucel "Mad Turk" Eminoglu.

Mickey - 9s 9d

Mad Turk - 2c 2h

Flop - 8c Ks Jh okay...

Turn - 2s noooo!

but wait

River - 9h

Phew. Mickey still in, still well below average. Go Mickey! Go Mickey!

Richard Ashby is OUT. Clearly enchanted by the swirling hypnotic locks of Rick Trigg, Ashby pushed his shortstack in with Ahrt 6c but found himself up against Action Man's Ad Ks, both players seemingly hesitant to reveal until Ashby finally confessed, "Yeah, you're in good shape."

A 3d Kd Qc 4c 2s board was a no go for Ashby who rises from his seat in defeat and quietly trundles out of the cardroom.

----------

Nick Gibson's stack has been bisected in half after his flopped full house was runner runnered by a bigger full house.

Mickey Wernick is OUT, amazingly.

I'm guessing that he and Mad Turk were on the blinds, as Mickey was holding 7-5 and Turk was holding, er, 7-2. Anyway, the flop comes with both remaining Sevens and some sort of blank on it, and there is a Flurry (technical term) of betting.

The turn is similarly a blank, and Mickey goes all in for his remaining 2.6k. Turk calls, and the river comes down the cruel Deuce.

Mickey is very unhappy about all this. He says that Mad Turk couldn't have put him on anything but a Seven, in which case he should have folded, knowing that he was outkicked, but instead Mickey has been kicked out. Of the tournament. No Mickey! No Mickey!

Blinds 100/200, 92 left in of 107 starters, average chips 11,600. I think we get to break for dinner after this level, too. :)

Poor fluey Alan Armitage has not cheered up, he's in fact just taken a massive hit to his previously-pleasantly-almost-doubled-up stack, courtesy of Nick Risdale.

All in at some point towards the flop or turn, I believe, Alan's Kc Ks was no match for Nick's  Ahrt 9h on the 9c 3c 9d 7d Jc board, and he's now back down to a starting-esque 9.2k, while Risdale is on around 18k. Back to Russia!

On the Grand Prix scrapheap are:

Glynn Rees
M Moore
K Zarandi
R Fleissner
K Simcock
Yilfer Shvket
A Erd
Marco Clare
Stephen Lennon

---------

Mark Lowe is so low that he is actually on zero and therefore out. GUKPT finalist Jonothon Butters (yes, three 'o's, it's not a typo) was the assassin, his Ac Ahrt too much for Mark's Kc Qc to handle on a 5s Qd 9c Tc board. No club or Jack meant Mark was toast rather than Butters, the latter climbing to circa 20k as a result.

---------

He may look 14, but JP Kelly has a calculated poker brain and one that came into good effect as he justifiably slowplayed his flopped full house.

The flop itself actually read Ahrt Aspades 8s with Chao Li's 1.5k bet being called in two places, the other being Dave Clark.

Everyone checked the 6s Turn before JP Kelly's all-in on the 6c River with Ac 8c was understandably called by Li's Ad Ks, the latter probably might relieved not to be up against a bigger stack.

Ian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=176) Woodley (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=176) is OUT.

He was getting a bit short, and found himself holding Ac Jc on a Queen-high, two-club flop, so he check-raised his opponent, who duly called. He missed the turn, but was pot-committed and pushed, and was insta-called by his opponent who, pretty predictably, had A-Q. No club on the river either, and you can't see the Woodley for the Queens, or some similarly weak pun, and he's gone. Doesn't seem too upset, though. Not sure if it's a cheery disposition all round or hysteria. I hope not hysteria.

S Pearson and J Biedak have both been eliminated from the tournament.

JP Kelly has been eliminated from the comp. According to former sponsor Jonathan Raab, "He was involved in a 5-way pot and found his 7 high was no good."

My spider sense inform me that he was very low at the time.

Kevin O'Leary has won a giant hand, knocking out one Mr Matey Boy. I believe pocket Aces were involved, with Mr Boy holding Q-T, with a Queen, a Ten and an Ace somewhere on the board. Kevin now has over 30k. Here he is, competing with Rick Trigg for Most Unusual Hairdo Of The Day. Not that I can talk. Someone called me over to ask if I was just taking pictures of Mr O'Leary for colour comparison purposes with my own 'do. Huff.

Rick Trigg, incidentally, is still hovering around the slightly-above-his-starting-stack region, although I swear every time I walk past him he's nicking someone's blinds.

Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=308) Risdale (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=308) has lost a chunky pot to the gent below, calling his shortstack all-in with  Aspades Jc. Mr Shortstack was holding 5h 5d.

Board - 8-2-T-5-A

"Pfft," says Mr Shortstack when the Ace comes down, and is already trying to leave when someone points out to him that he's hit a set. Oops. Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=308) Risdale (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=308) doesn't look very happy about any of this. He's on about 13.5k now.

Talking of side events, there is a stupidly crazy-large cash game going on, 6-card Omaha I believe or something similarly odd, that is attracting a bit of an audience owing to the fact that no flop has been seen without thousands on the table. I understand that Richard Ashby is cleaning up.

Double up for Andrea (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1004) Buzzigoli (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1004), an Italian currently residing in England, as his A-J versus K-J on a Jack high flop is enough to see him rise to 10k.

----------

In what was a smaller pot than it looked, Charles Denton has been eliminated from the comp leaving last year's finalist Anthony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=33) Adderley (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=33) to scoop up a 20k pot.

A 9s Jd 7h Flop was sprawled across the board, and Denton had moved all-in for 1.7k. He was called in two places though, one of whom was Adderley.

On the 6c Turn, it all went loosey goosey as Adderley and Mateyboy pushed all their chips across the line.

On their backs:

Adderley = 8s 5s

Denton = Kh 8h

Mateyboy = Ad Jh

The River was the 7s and Adderley's straight took the pot.

"You're not going to put that hand up are you?" inquired Anthony.

"Well, it wouldn't be a very good update if we didn't report hands," I replied.

Steve Jelinek has doubled up with Jacks v Aces. On the turn of an 8c 4s Ks 4h board, Steve's forehead hits the felt, and he only peeks up when he hears his tablemates' "ooh, that'll cost you" plumber-like gasps at the Js on the river.

I'm still a little hazy on who everyone at these events is, so I ask him his name. "Steve Jelinek," he says, "That's J-E-L-I-N-E-K. Also known as Fish - F-I-S-H."

Red Dog called me over to let me know that Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=113) Penly (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=113) had gone holding Q-T on a Q-Q-T flop - my brain ached at trying to work it out, so he went on to explain that Aces had called and hit another Ace on the turn. Painful.

---------

G Sharpe is also out. He was snipered down by Mohammed Ghani who held A-K on a Q-6-A-8-J board. Sharpe had A-T for a flopped flush draw, but to no avail as the Turn and River were both the wrong colour.

R Ellis and Dave Welch may be zipping down the M6 with a look of disgruntlement plastered across their faces, but this man, Mohammed Hussain is still in. A regular around these parts, MZ Hussain is a true under-the-radar player and will always be there or there about come spondoolies time. Not surprisingly (honestly, this guy is never out early), Mr Hussain is still present in this year's Grand Prix, and just won a nice meaty of pot off Andy Johnson and T Alskett  the latter of which becoming the latest departure.

A 8h 7d 6c Flop lay on the felt, and after the all-iner had been called by Hussain and Johnson, the two locals saw a 6s Turn before checking down the 2h River.

Johnson looked like a beaten man, but Hussain, however, perked up in his seat and asked his all-in opponent if he held a flush. When the answer was negative (although it could have been a full house), Hussain announced a straight and turned over 5s 4s to take the pot. Mr T Alskett, meanwhile, flipped 6d 5d for just the one pair and rose from his chair in defeat.

Rick Trigg is OUT after a squeezeplay gone wrong. With about 6k left and holding A-7 on the big blind, he tried it on, and was feeling pretty good when two of the three limpers folded, but the third one re-raised and Rick, painfully short, had to call. The re-raiser had A-Q and Rick is out.

Mad Turk bets 900 on an Ac 9c 2h flop. "That doesn't mean I hit it," he says, "I just want to know where I am." No-one is fooled though, and they all fold.

He is currently sat next to Ben (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=44) Callinan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=44), who is happily wired to his ipod. Says Mad Turk to him, "I  don't have expensive ipod, I sing." I begin to retreat, afraid. There is talk among his tablemates of some kind of karaoke-off later.

Rutter v Butter (don't you just love that?) as Rutter's J-T fails to outdraw Butter's A-Q all-in pre-flop.

Meanwhile, Mad Turk is even madder than he was in the last post where I said he was very mad, his Jacks all-in against the A-K of Mohammed Ghani's Jacks, the board coming 5-6-7-4-8 for a choppety chop chop.

Gordon MacArthur walks up to me and says, "Sorry." "Oh, sorry," say I, thinking I'm in the way, and I move. He's still standing there. "I said, do you want a story?" Oh yes. Of course I do. It's getting late and my brain is starting to melt.

Nevertheless he is in a great mood because he's just doubled up off of a now-fuming Michael (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=279) Greco (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=279). Now that I know what day it is, he tells me that he raised with Js 9s from the cutoff, and found a caller in big blind Michael (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=279) Greco (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=279).

Flop - 3s 6s 5s

Greco checks. Tee hee hee, thinks Gordon (not in those words, I'm embellishing here) and bets. Michael calls.

Turn - 4c

Again, Michael checks. Gordon bets again, and this time Michael raises, and Gordon calls.

Michael shows  Ad Aspades, but no fourth spade on the river, and Gordon is delighted and Michael is furious.

Dan Owston and a slightly blurry Simon Baskerville, became involved, as it were. Dan raised from the button only for Simon to go over the top of him. Some brief dwellage later, says Dan, "I don't think I can lay these down," and calls. He shows Kings. "Oh," says Simon, and shows Kings. They split.

------------

Karl Limbert is the current chip leader with circa 80k.

Well, I guess I've just gone and bokked Karl Limbert, because just as I was reporting his chip leadage, he only goes and doubles up everyone's favourite plaster wearing pensioner.

Raising under-the-gun, Michael Arnold looks for a vital double through as the action folds round to Limbert in the big blind. "I guess I'm priced in," observes Limbert semi-seriously. "How much more is it?"

As the answer returned is 4.4k, Limbert makes the call and hesitantly checks a Jd 6d Td Flop with a gentle sigh. As expected, Arnold insta shovels in his remaining 2.9k quicker than a wasp on speed.

As if fighting the temptation and pot odd demons, Limbert looks bamboozled by his decision but eventually makes the call with a huff, simultaneously commenting, "I've got nothing, but I can't pass."

And indeed Limbert did have nothing, but his Ks 2s at least had three outs against Arnold's 9h 9s, which ultimately failed to emerge from the 3h Turn and Qc River.

Hooray for Limbert for still having a load of chips, but hooray also for Arnold who earns himself a timely double up.

As Paul was picking up his coat to leave, Gordon got up and came over to the other side of the table to shake Paul's hand. He looked a little like he was going to cry. He has probably around 40k now.

With about 40 minutes left till the end of the day's play, it would appear as though the staff here have lost their patience and spiked all drinks with Red Bull (except for the ones that are already Red Bull of course, that would be silly) as the last few moments have borne witness to a flurry of all-in encounters.

First up was Graham Whytell (who had to spell his name knowing full well that I would go for the Whitell option); he found all his chips across the line with 7c 7d, which isn't always too bad unless you're up against Aces, which he was, the American Airlines being held by the now not so invincible Karl Limbert.

Limbert = Aspades Ahrt

Whytell = 7c 7d

Board = 5s Jc Jh 3h...

Oh you know what's coming.

BOING!

Roberto Romanello has been getting jiggy with mr biggy of late (sorry I have no idea what that means, but I'm trying to say that he's seeing a lot of action).

First he was pushed off a hand by Kevin O'Leary. It was a button versus small blind confrontation, so I would assume it went raise from O'Leary, re-raise from Romanello followed by another raise by O'Leary. After having the clock called on him, which resulting in the summons of yours truly, eager and with notepad in hand, Roberto inevitably made the fold, showed 7c 7d, and said something like, "There's no way I'm going to chuck it all in with Sevens now."

Just moments later, those 15k worth of remaining chips did indeed find there way past the line, and this time they were in tippety top shape, Romanello's Aspades Ahrt in fine fettle against Chris Bruce's inferior 6h 6s. Board brought 2h 8c 5d 2s 3h and Romanello is "dangerous now" according to cardroom supervisor Danny.

The last several dust biters are:

81st = S Baskerville
82nd = Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=334) Parker (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=334)

84th = Ash (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=40) Pervais (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=40)
85th = M Robinson
86th = W Ahmed
87th = Yucel Eminoglu

Mad Turk, at the bottom of that list, has a good right to be slightly enraged, his T-T all-in pre-flop against 4-4 was outgunned when a 4 hit the Turn.

Simon Baskerville is now OUT. Anthony Kennedy bet 4k on a 6s Qh 9s flop and Simon raised his last 5.9k. Anthony calls, and announces, "Open-ended," turning over Th Jc. Simon turns over Kh Ks. And it's all over on the 8h turn. "Boo boo babby yeah!" shouts Kennedy, or something incomprehensible like that, as the irrelevant 2h river is dealt.

Roberto (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=376) Romanello (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=376) -- 292,000

----------

Soon after...

"I had to make a move," confesses Chris Bruce as he dons his coat.

Bruce = Kd 4s

Romanello = Kh Kc

Board = 9c 6d 5c Ks 8d

No Brucie bonus and we're a man overboard.

Didn't get any extensive details, but was informed that his swan-song was made with J-T... which doesn't' tell you much.  :-X

------------

Trevor Payne, who, incidentally, was the only player to be in the same seat after the computer went bananas and inexplicably redrew the players, has just doubled up with Kh Ks versus Ac 8c, all-in on the Flop of an 8h 9d 2h 7c Jh board.

"I was Table 7, Seat 8, before the redraw," he said as he piled his newly acquired 35k stack. "And I was still 7-8 after, must be fate."

"Well, it can't mean he's 78th because we don't have enough players left," add supervisor Danny.

"Maybe it's his winnings... £78," add I.

Actually, the latter's impossible as everyone goes away with £100 minimum. Maybe he's on to win 78k!!  :o

Also OUT is Ben Callinan. Gareth Westcott (below) raised to 3.5k, and Ben made what looked like a slightly suspicious call. The flop came Jd 5h 4d and Ben shoved for 9k; Gareth called.

Ben Callinan -  Aspades 2s

Turn - Kd
