Title: Just back from DTD
Post by: AdamM on November 30, 2007, 07:19:42 AM
played the Thursday £100 tourney.

great structure.
Dealers were nervous and were making some mistakes, but given how new most of them seem to the job, I thought they all did very well
The valets were very attentive, and across the board, stunning.
facilities and structure were top draw.

I finalled, along with Dingdell, Chippieliecester and Chili's dad.
I thought I'd won the thing when I caught Dingdell with 3,3 vs my 8,8 but the river had other ideas. If I win that pot I have 210k of the 520k in play and think I have a very good chance.
More than happy with 5th though for £782.
Chippie went out straight after and Dingdell got 2nd in a 2 way count.
club was scheduled to shut at 4am but we were allowed to play Until 6am to try and get a result, and we almost made it.

Thanks to everyone at dt (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload)d (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload) for a great event and see you tonight.

of to bed now

Well done on the final Adam, Dingdell and Chippie. Chili's Dad did great to grind his way there too. Jesse May knocked me out around 25th - seemed like a top bloke and his trademark giggle was regularly heard.

Have to say Dusk Till Dawn is absolutely stunning. Rob and his team have created a truly superb venue.

Very very veeery nice venue.  I expected something special, but it exceeded my expectations.  Like being set up on a blind date by your best mate who promises you a stunner, only to find Angelina Jolie waiting for you in a saucy black satin cocktail frock and look of wanton lust in her eye.  I sincerely apologise for turning up dressed like a tar-macker.

Adam you were very unlucky if u would have won that hand i think we would have split it lol well done mate

lol

no mate, I'd have won it and I'd have seen you off in 4th ;)

Last night the Valets were having a nightmare. The PDAs they use for transmitting orders to the bar / kitchen broke down aswell as the coffee machine dying. Simon explained the situation over the PA and asked for players to be patient with the girls who remained polite and friendly throughout all their problems.

That's the thing. Any problems that do arise, you KNOW they're teething problems and are going to get sorted out.

nobody wants to hear my AA v KK story from last night, but suffice to say, I got to sample some side action last night, rather than a record setting second consecutive final.

superb, mate congrats , the big stack guy was prob a bit gutted though he did seem to be shedding chips at some rate in the late stages  :)

I assume it was pushing 6am when this happened

Title: Re: Just back from DTD
Post by: Dingdell on December 01, 2007, 02:29:33 PM
It went to a chip count on Thursday/Friday morning at 6am too.

I do think that the structure may need a bit of a tweak, maybe one level where the ante goes up instead of staying the same early on. I can't remember which level it was but no one went, not one player, it is a great structure but there was so much play the Thursday game nearly turned into a 2 day tourney  - we were given the option of coming back but both Chippie and I needed to go to work.

Already planning my next visit.  ;D

Just got back and the trip is worth the A17 and A52.

Its some "wow" moment when you walk through the door for the first time, I am sure that will only surpassed when you walk through the door and it is full, a sight I look forward to seeing.  The layout, decor and spec are all of the highest order.  Time I feel will bring experience and confidence which might make it even better, if that is possible.

My tournament was short but sweet and was good to meet so many Blonde's again.  Thankfully an intersting 1/2 cash table kept me entertained for many hours, with Zim, Vinni and RichEO among many others helping to distract me from some awful tourney play and thankfully making the trip profitable.

I told Rob he should be very proud of what he has achieved, it is an amazing place to say the least.  I will support the place till I can no more, thankyou Rob and Team it is some vision you have realised.

Just curious among the hype, are the rake structures employed standard? I'm reading a £0.50/1 game is £10 cap at 5%. 10 big hands is stacking someone...pretty sick, no?

the hoi sin pork was lovely thanks.

I played 2 hands in 1 hour in the .50/1 cash game and was up £110 so can't complain. would rather have gone deep in the tourney but there's always next week, and the next week, and the week after..........

2hrs to get there (leaving at 3.30) and stopping for Petrol in Cambridge

1 1/2hrs to get home.

Not too bad a journey tbh.

Fantastic Club - made for poker players it truely is. Good tables, comfy seats, space between tables and excellent layout. Competent dealers and staff.

Was good to meet up with old friends as well as put faces to some blonde names.

Only think I would say is why is there no cover from the door to the covered smoking area? I presume this must be because of some sort of planning laws? As Luton is the same (all be it only 3 ft uncovered). Would a roll up lean to not get round these laws? (assuming they exist)

This post is slightly misplaced as I'm at DtD now rather than just back from it, but I can't be bothered to start a new thread.

It goes without saying that the place is top notch so I don't think I need to bother adding anything to the previous superlatives (although Internet Explorer on the internet terminals and not Firefox - interesting choice).

I might attempt the odd update from the tournament, however I'm not very good at chip counting or remembering peoples names or faces, or how hands played out. So the highlight might be that I can positively state that at the end of the first level all the blondeites are still in - even Ironside.

If anybody's interested - and more importantly, if I can remember to do so - I'll report back on any significant action.

;D

Wish I could of made it there tonight but I think it was a blessing in disguise, Caitlin was poorly so I decided not to go but after 5 hours I managed to convince Kev to go without me. He set off rather late but at least he would be able to play the STT's, tourney tomorrow and get the DTD experience on the opening week...

He'd been driving for a couple of hours when I received a call... "Jane, I've crashed the car....."

HE'S OK!!! - the car... not so much.

So I've been trying to sort out travel arrangements for Kev stuck in the middle of nowhere, car recovery, sort out insurance and what a nightmare it's been... so much for being Fully Comp with full breakdown cover. All I can say is thank god I wasn't driving, we may not of got away so lightly.

Well I have been looking forward to this night for quite a while.

I set off at about 3.45 as my fella was just finishing work which we thought even with traffic  we would get there in time seeing it usually takes about 2 and a half hours on a good day. With the rain we ran in to massive stand still traffic. Eventually taking almost 4 hours we got there just after the tournament had started so wasn't in the best of moods especially with missing all the hype at the beginning. (Oh and thank Goodness for online registration may I just add)

Greeted by Danny Bell and shown to my seat, been a long time I have seen him in a suit. It was strange the fact that there were well over 100 people in the place and it seemed slightly empty, that just portrays the sheer size of the place. It will be an amazing atmosphere when there are 400 people sat playing.

Had a nice chat to some people on the table (was sat next to AdamM and didn't actually know it at the time). Didn't really have a poker head on as was more interested taking everything in so didn't exactly play my best, got runner runnered on my first hand and then got caught making a move with 10 8os, that was about the extent of my game and was out by the break lol.

Anyway made it over to the bar to get some food and sat chatting to Adam O'connell and friend whilst we ate, very nice burger, not sure about the whole cajun chips thing.

Went for a wander round and had a chat with a few people. Talked 'shop' with Derek, from Rob's other business, that has helped manage all the Technical and networking side of the club. What a fab job he and his team have done developing and installing all the systems.

Put names to face of a few of the blondites, and the night wouldn’t have been complete without Ironside muttering about lapdancers.

Put my name down for an STT, glad that was all computerised as had a bit of a nightmare with cash games list at the Blackpool GUKPT. So this is a big plus in my opinion.

Got going pretty quickly, I like that they have little “STT Packs” with everything ready including little dealer stop clock buttons for the game and we were lucky enough to have a table with an automated shuffler. The STT was excellent and was plenty of play, I managed to come 2nd for £60, was actually chip leader heads up and managed to donk all my chips on a bluff(Bobble??? Bluff??? Never).

Had a few more chats with people before leaving about 3.00. Wasn’t happy with the Travel Lodge as I had booked a room and even rang to let them know we would be quite late and they assured me it wasn’t a problem. Got there to be told they had no rooms left, even though the money had already been taken from my account. So they palmed us off to another hotel which was over 10 minute drive away. Quite glad to be honest as I think there was some sort of party or stag night as there were loads of drunk people coming in and out for a smoke.

Anyway back to the club, what a place, it really is above and beyond anywhere I have played before. Nothing has been overlooked and every detail is best of the best.  Once all the staff have settled in to a routine it will be truly faultless.

I feel very proud to have been apart of the team and has been amazing to watch it go from being an empty building site to this, and watching people actually sat down playing and enjoying themselves was really the cherry on the cake.

I really applaud Rob, Nick and everyone else that has worked so hard to make this club happen and I am so pleased for everybody that the opening weekend finally arrived.

Hope to see you all at the tables soon.

I did thanks Suzanne.

I am just really glad I registered online before I went otherwise I would have been really stressing with all the traffic, I think this is a marvelous feature and it makes things so much easier whether you know you will be there on time or not.

For anyone who is planning on going next weekend the tournaments are already up on dtdpoker.com if you wish to register.

Go to "Tourney" -> "Events" and they start from "LIVE DTD DEC 6 £50"

If you do register and can't make it last minute you can ring through to the club and unregister (before last club tournament registration).

We already have people registered for the next 2 weeks which is great.

Best of luck everyone.

Just curious among the hype, are the rake structures employed standard? I'm reading a £0.50/1 game is £10 cap at 5%. 10 big hands is stacking someone...pretty sick, no?

Let me explain how the rake works.

First on a small game the cap will be very rarely be reached, to take £5 would require a pot of £100 , £10 would require a pot of £200 . Secondly assume action of raise , 4 callers putting money in the pot then an all in reraise preflop and all pass , if there is NO FLOP there is NO DROP. Also as i show below we only ever take the lowest rake. Hope this all helps , rake stops the game breaking up when time collection comes which no one wants to pay when they are losing and also of course only the winners pay , so of course you could have 3 losing hours but you have paid no session charges.

Here i have rewritten our website to make it clearer.

Cash Games

dusk till (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload) dawn (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload) provides cash games for all levels of poker players:

Lowest Priced Games

Example 1
50p/£1 NL
Minimum buy-in £40
Maximum buy-in £100

Example 2

 £1/£2 NL
Minimum buy-in £80
Maximum buy-in £200

 Example 3

 £2/£5 PLO
Minimum buy-in £200
No maximum buy-in

Highest Priced Games

£25/£50 blinds
Minimum buy-in £2000
No maximum buy-in

Charges and Rake

50p/£1 - £1/£2   raked at 5% up to a cap of £5

 £2/£5 - £5/£10  raked at 5% up to a cap of £10

£10/£20 - £25/£50 raked at 5% up to a cap of £15

On all games no matter what betting takes place NO FLOP = NO RAKE.

In a 0.50 £1 game no rake is taken until the pot reaches £10, in all other games no rake is taken until the pot reaches £20.

Rake is always taken at the lower level e.g. if a pot is £20, 5% rake is £1, if the pot is £40, 5% rake is £2 but if the pot is £39 only £1 rake is taken.

A dealer can be provided for heads up play at a cost of £20 per hour.

Games which are spread individually are Texas Hold 'Em and Omaha.

We also run a Dealer's Choice game which offers Hold 'Em, Irish, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, Stud and Stud Hi/Lo.

James who ? And how many are left in ?

I didn't realise that the £500 was a two-day event either.

Unlucky Fran, but another good performance. Look on the bright side, it's saved you a fortune in babysitter's fees ;)

It was between £1500 and top was £2kish + or - a bit.
i was middling.

Well Done fella, nice to meet you on Friday..  I was the guy who had 1 hand left and hit Rockets on that very hand to double, and then quadruple few hands later with a KQ...  Glad you went on so far..!!

As for the venue, tremendous..!!  Had a small issue with ordering a drink of Bulmers, 30 mins later it had still not arrived, spoke with the staff and problem was quickly resolved..  I put it down to the teething troubles with them PDA's on the lovely ladies arms..  I did not have a problem waiting so long as I sobered up a little, lol...

Met quite a few blondeites...  Some for first time..  Nakor, Tractor, Bainn, Harmony, Irsonside, Charmaine, M3Boy, Jizzem, XXLOJXX, and more..

Nice nite out, will Defo be back,

Cheers

Carl..

To Rob, Paul, Simon, Simon and all what a great club - you guys have a lot to be proud of.

Inevitably because you are dealing with poker players there will be moaning, however from what I saw the weekend was a great success and the decision to address the issue over rakes on the cash tables was done during the evening instead of the usual "we will reveiw your comments and get back to you" bullshit you get elsewhere - well played guys!

Saw some amazing poker - good and bad - sorry Duke but it was me who set you all in with 22 when you had the audacity to try an button steal my BB with a weak QQ :-) - but the highlight - other than winning the 100 on Friday after a chip count - was the guy on my 1/2 cash table betting £40 from the small blind into a £20 pot in the dark before the flop. The flop came  Kd Qd Kc and everyone folded. He turned over  Ks Kh - now that was an inspired bit of play - almost pmsl.

All in all though a great weekend and look forward to going again soon. Tim

Thanks guy's n gal's, i wasn't even going to go to DTD this weekend because of work commitments, glad i did though. Congratulations to Rob and all the staff for giving us such a great place to play, if you haven't already been to DTD get down there its absolutely fabulous.

No deals necessary as the flatter payout structure is fair to everyone, ended up with just shy of 15k, so drinks are on me Maureen.

DTD opening weekend £500 buy in main event

Due to work commitments I was originally unable to play this event, however a last minute reprieve meant that I was able to take my seat with another 85 hopeful poker players at the DTD opening weekend main event.

Upon my arrival at the club I was greeted with a glass of champers and lots of friendly smiling staff, I know Rob Yong has spent a fortune on this place and you can see exactly where it’s been spent. My first impression was that the club is a lot larger that I had imagined, the décor is second to none, and the main poker playing area is huge with plenty of space all around the tables.

Nick Whiten and Simon Nowab gave a few others and myself a guided tour of the club, although the whole place is simply superb I have to say that the V.I.P room is truly outstanding.

Soon we were called to take our seats and the tournament started on time, I sat down along side tablemates including the inform Julian Thew and John Kalmar. I got off to a good start hitting the nut straight twice with a gut shot draw, I played them both aggressively and I had soon managed to double up to 15k playing lots of small pots. I lost my first big pot in a hand with John Kalmar, I raised utg +2 with As Ah, John smooth calls in the bb, the flop comes 10 high with 3 spades, I bet 2/3 of the pot and John quickly calls. The turn is an off suit rag and again I bet about ½ the pot, John now moves all in and with the over pair and nut flush draw I feel obliged to call. John had flopped the flush and with no spade on the river I am back down to about 10K.

I sat for the next 4 hours totally card dead and hardly played a hand, then I got moved to a table with the chipped up Matt Tyler. I’ve played with the mega aggressive Matt a few times before and when he has chips he’s a nightmare to play against, I soon start to find a few hands and start to make a lot of raises and I slowly build my chips back up to above average when this hand happened. I raise in early position with KK, another played flat calls and Matt in the bb moves all in, I move all in also and the other player folded what I think was JJ or maybe QQ. With all the money in the middle I have Matt out chipped and he turns over AK, he spikes an ace but I also hit the case king to knock Matt out of the comp.

Now with more than double the average chips I go on the attack and try to build a stack to go on and win the comp, although by now I am the new table captain, I seem to be in yoyo mode and end up losing a lot of chips during the next couple of levels. I end up having to make a couple of really big lay downs just to keep slightly below average chips. During the 300/600 and 500/1000 levels I do find another couple of hands and manage to double up through Sondre Sagstuen with 10 10 against his AK.

Back on track with 65k, the average being about 30 I improve my position during the next 2 levels and become the new chip leader and end the first day in a great position with 125k the average being about 60k and 11 players remaining.

The final day

Down to just 11 players I returned to DTD in great shape as chip leader with more than double the average chips, my best game without a doubt is short handed play, I feel confident that I can push on from here and build an unassailable stack during the bubble. Once again I start off making a lot of raises and re-raises trying to push players off hands pre flop which works well but by the time we start the 9 handed final table I have lost the chip lead to Sam Trickett, a fine young up and coming player from nottingham I think.

Still confortable in second place and with 8 players remaining, I pick up 88 in the blinds and call an all in raise from one of the short stacks and we are down to 7. Then a few hands later I get lucky when another short stack raises in early position, I look down to find 33 in the bb and re-raise all in hoping to push him off his hand. He insta calls making a good read with 66 but a 3 on the turn and I regain the chip lead and we are now only 6 handed.

Now I had about 250k of the 650k chips in play, the game quickened at this point, even though the stack sizes were very big in relation to the blinds. It wasn’t untill we were 3 handed that things calmed down abit, we had lost 3 players in a flash and we were now playing for the top places. The other remaining players were Sam Trickett and a scandie called Sondre Sagstuen who this year finished 6th in the WSOP event that Ram Vaswani won his bracelet in.

Sam Trickett had taken a few hits to his stack by Sondre Sagstuen but was still playing aggressively when he raised my blind for the upteenth time, I set him all in with my AQ and Sam called with A9. It wasn’t to be for Sam this time as my AQ held up but this guy is definatley one for the future and a big pay day is not far away for this star of the future.

We took a short break before starting heads up play, and thank the lord we did. What followed was the most shattering heads up battle I have ever encountered, the chip lead swinging one way then the other maybe 15 or 20 times before we finally managed to get it all in with my 9 10 off against his A5 off. I luckily managed to hit a 9 on the turn to put and end to this 3 hour heads up epic contest.

No deals were necessary as DTD have a very fair, and much flatter than the norm pay out structure that everyone I spoke to was very happy with. Many thanks to all of the staff  and management at DTD for giving us poker players such a marvelous club to play in. Finally thanks to all of the other players for there support throughout the two days play.

Kind regards,

Steve Read.

Wish I could of made it there tonight but I think it was a blessing in disguise, Caitlin was poorly so I decided not to go but after 5 hours I managed to convince Kev to go without me. He set off rather late but at least he would be able to play the STT's, tourney tomorrow and get the dt (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload)d (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload) experience on the opening week...

Is the wedding still on?

Title: What a weekend..
Post by: Bainn on December 04, 2007, 03:25:05 AM
Harmony and I have been playing, chilling, socialising and dining at "Dusk Till Dawn" this weekend, and we have had a fantastic time. Which from the tone of the posts made by others, has been an experience shared by all who have visited DTD this weekend.

From the very moment we opened the doors and our eyes fell upon the tiered rows of poker tables we knew that we had found a true haven for poker and the many people who love to play the game. Harmony described DTD as an "Oasis", a place where you were seperated from all things, a place where you and YOUR enjoyment of the poker you wanted to play was paramount.

DTD certainly has it's own sense of place, a character and ambience that comes from a combination of the physical enviroment, the lighting, the style and the staff and yet the total is much more than a simple sum of these parts, it is simply something special.

One thing that is most evident is that people who play at ANY level are made to feel welcome, those visiting DTD are catered for via a wide range of games and limits that will make everyone from a home game player to the highest of high rollers happy.

It goes without saying that the helpful staff, from dealers to valets are one of the most important parts to making a visit so enjoyable, all were helpful and friendly making you feel right at home.

DTD also put on some of the finest food, and we thoroughly enjoyed just going there to eat, watch some of the action and maybe join a game later, it all felt like popping around to a friends house for an evening.

We, and I am quite sure it applies to the rest of the poker playing community, are very thankful that Rob and Nick had that fateful conversation one night and had the sheer determination to see their original idea become a reality, and what a reality it became.

Thanks to their, and all of the team behind the creation of DTD, hard work we have a true "Home" for poker and it's players in Europe.

We are just thankful that we are local to DTD and can pop into our "home away from home" on a whim !

Well done Rob, Nick, Simon, Darren and everybody at DTD.

All the best,

Bainn & Harmony.

Hi people,

First post on this forum which I found whilst trying to find out eventual result of DTD £500 at the weekend. Looking at the pics I'm pretty sure that it was the eventual winner that bust me in 14th at some unhealthy hour of Sunday morning when, having spent hours nursing a short stack to the verge of the final table, I thought I might just have made it as I looked down at AJs utg and Steve called in the big blind. Only problem was he had AA!! Ah well.....

Still, I had a great time in only my second live tournament and I wanted to echo all the good things that everyone else has said about the venue - many congrats and best wishes for the future to Rob, Simon and everyone involved

Its been interesting reading the posts above and putting some names to faces that I played with...

Fran, think it was you sitting on my left when I bust, and it seems you went out one after me...unlucky! (you should have called me with the 55 ;-)  )
Matt Tyler....I am so glad the winner thinks he's a nightmare to play against with chips too!! I came away having learned at least one lesson that I won't forget..

Glad my chips were able to win the title one way or another anyway !!

Wasn't meant as a criticism of Fran's play by the way (having reread my post can see it might come across that way) - I'm wary of calling with small pairs shortstacked myself even though I know I should. Usually a big weakness of mine, waiting too long to make a move because I want to get chips in first, and I had made a conscious effort to keep some fold equity last weekend, right till the end where I was struggling to find a decent spot. It was more the fact that Fran would have been very happy with what I turned over had she have called !!

Congrats on taking it down.

Its been interesting reading the posts above and putting some names to faces that I played with...

Fran, think it was you sitting on my left when I bust, and it seems you went out one after me...unlucky! (you should have called me with the 55 ;-)  )
Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) Tyler (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274)....I am so glad the winner thinks he's a nightmare to play against with chips too!! I came away having learned at least one lesson that I won't forget..

Hi Jim,

it was me that got you with the AA sorry about that, i also thought that Fran should have called you when she had 55, that was however the only mistake i saw her make in quite a few hours of play.

only thing i can say is can i get a chance to get a steal in next time i play

or atleast some cards to play back at the highly agressive b4matt, ash and skalie who all had late postion and chips to attack my blinds

and steve reed who was sat to my left  who was just waiting to take me on

considering i went the last 4-5 hours with nothing better than a pair of 6's(which i had to fold to steve's TT) and i never went over 14k i am quite happy i lasted till 20th in such a strong field next time i wont be so passive i will reraise for another 4k into a 12k pot with my half wilsons i was getting

Cheers Jim,
