The employment company which supplies stores with Father Christmases had earlier asked its Santas to say "ha ha ha" because the word "ho", which is American slang for whore, could offend women, media reported. Yes, a friend of mine used to work at one of the news agencies and said they often used to make up stories and see which newspapers would print them. August was the peak time for this but festive stories at Christmas were also popular.
