My mam used to boil the kettle all sunday morning to steam the windows up just so the neighbours thought we were having a big sunday dinner

I thought 'Tesco Value' range was the only food on sale.

Me and my brothers and sisters thought everyone had Oxo slops for tea ..... dont tell me they dont  ???

To good old mum  :cheers: life was never dull with  6 kids !! probably why i had so many  :blonde:

Ahh the life as a kid in a big family.

I was one of 6 as well hun...we used to put plastic up over the windows in the winter cause it was too cold. Tea time was get in get your food or else someone else will eat it. No time for anyone to be fussy. My sister was told everything was liver for 2 years or else she wouldnt eat it.

we were so poor i had to go round to next doors on a sunday to ask them to dip there joint in our gravy

I had to have a pair of 2nd hand moonboots from a neighbour.....she was size 3 ..


i was size 6

My parents were so tight..they passed AK suited utg :D

I used to go to neighbours asking for food saying my mum hadnt fed me ....... lol ..... i was such a wicked little girl  >:D but thankfully i saw the error of my ways  0:-)

My parents were so tight I thought "reduced" was a food producer.

I'm, the baby of my lot as well... next youngest is five years older. They hated me when I was a kid <g>.

Clothes were well out of date by the time I got em :(

I had all my sisters hand me downs  now  all my sisters are bigger than me and dont fit , typical now i want em  :(

Sounds like I could of written that myself! Youngest of 6 also and many of the hand-me-downs were more like antiques, my eldest sister is 17 years older and the closest is 5 years older. That was the only thing I can think of though, I guess we were pretty lucky.

Can’t say I would have it any different really, I had a fantastic childhood with never a dull moment.

You think thats bad!!!!    We were so poor I was never bought any toys........If I hadnt been a boy i'd have had nothing to play with!

My auntie is due her 6th (planned) baby in a couple of weeks, I don't get to see them all very often as they are down South, but when I do it's a bloody madhouse - 4 boys, 1 girl and 1 bump.

I'd of loved more than two.

I must admit , even with the hard times and believe me we've had our fare share of them , we wouldnt be without our children.

my parents could only afford clothes from the local army surplus store    Its tough going to school in glasgow dressed as a Japanese Admiral  ;(

We were so poor our dog had no legs

During the winter we all used to sit around a candle, if it was really cold we used to light  it

We couldn't afford shoes, my mam used to black our feet and lace our toes up

You think thats bad ... me n my sister had to SHARE a porshe...imagine that aye ...the embarrasment..

That's uncanny.....we had a dog with no legs too.....we called it Marlborough cos Dad would take it for a drag in the back yard!

that was TRUE    my mum was so poor that she got married so that she could collect the rice.     we used to have to go to the park and wrestle squirrels for their nuts...    nothing changes ehhh?  LOL  right i'm off back to search for more freerolls   :D
